Kingsnake is up

Huang had been somewhat prepared for Phaedras response after her earlier display, after all she was at the least part demon though a part of him had clung to hope she was not in fact a potential interloper. The full revelation and actual naming of the hybrids native realm on the other hand still caused him to hiss in a breath and glance around nervously. The party getting back to his parents was likely enough as it stood, but potential interloper was another level over never get to make kissy faces with Set again. He winced and in hushed tones suggested, "Hey maybe not so loud." he glanced to the crowd with a weak smile, "How bout that eh, exciting stuff!" He looked to Phaedra urging her on, "So who's next?" he suggested and under his breath added for the half demon, "And if my parents get home early you might want to keep your head down and stick to the back." he smiled wide with an unintentional flash of fangs, "Not that they'll be home early... probably."

GM Post As the final of his cohort spun toward the ground vanquished by the heroes of the day the leader of the mercenary band slowly staggered to his feet weaving slightly in place but still defiant, "You may have stopped her escape." he growled through his vocoder and barked a laugh, "But she won't survive to testify." he gasped out breathlessly. On the ground behind Kingsnake the woman in question was frantically crawling away not bothering to try to stand after being so unceremoniously dumped on her delicate if shapely behind. "It was just supposed to make me miss the court date." she was whispering to herself, "What did I get myself into." she panted desperately.

"Not so fast." Phalanx intoned and sped after the escaping mercenary. He arrived just as Miras emerged from the train drawing their armored foe off balance and setting him up for Phalanx's attack. The potent paragon sped across the skies of Freedom raising his arms over head as he drew up aiming a double handed blow of crushing force upon the maladjusted mercenaries back buckling armored plates and destroying flight and motive systems with the force of hte blow. The mercenary crashed to earth impacting the ground with an audible impact. The exertions of the battle had taken their toll on him certainly though he bore through the worst of it with solid resolve as he hovered observing as the police already moved in on the unconscious soldier of fortune. He looked to his fellow hero weakened by her own part in the fight and inquired with genuine concern, "Are you injured, in need of aid?" though he was in little better shape himself.

She's in range of Backup 4 if she flows out through a hole, I think it would take a double move to get LOS on Backup three Also she can spend an HP to knock that exhausted down to fatigued

Mike had already measured his gait to her own and smiled down rolling his broad shoulders slightly in a shrug, "No, but you like it." he said openly, "Aaaand it's less spontaneous than it might seem." he joked lightly and stepped up to the maitre de to claim the reservation he'd made likely weeks before unless he'd managed to get Alex's secretary in on the arrangements. After they were shown to a table he carefully sat and smiled to Alex, "Well easier in some ways yes." he admitted, "But," he shifted uncomfortably, "Spontaneity can be fun but also dangerous." he intoned quietly. Mike had spent so much of his life taking extra care with all his actions that ti really was outside his mindset to do anything without carefully thinking it through. He smiled however, "That does not mean I can't plan out a nice surprise here and there though." he offered with a grin and waved the hovering sommelier to the table, "Water for now." he requested politely, "something to match with our meals when they're served," he requested carefully in a practiced tone of authority. He looked back to his fiance with a vague blush as his clear preparation for the evening became more clear. "I uh, thought you could use a nice night out so I set something up I hope you like it all." he explained finally.

Huang peered at the sudden appearance of a magic cab and raised brow slightly. No one else seemed off put by the cabs sudden appearance though and from what he recalled of sitcoms they just roamed the streets waiting to pick people up and be fought over so it didn't seem that odd all in all. He waved them all in with a shrug, "Cabs patrol and we look like we need a ride right?" he suggested and sat down closing the door with a smart nod, "Besides it's kinda magic what could go wrong in a magic cab?" he added cheerily and tapped the back seat, "Claremont academy my good man!" he declared because the difference between a checker cab and an old london horse drawn one was apparently lost on him. His parents may be correct he needed to get out more.

Alright so I got around to adding some bits to the background about what happened in labyrinth custody and will be happening in the immediate aftermath of his release. Left the details of his rescue vague since that'll be an on screen deal when it comes through. Lemme know if there's anything else.

Ellis offered a small smile, "I never put much stock in those publications." he said voice hardening ever so slightly before he deliberately softened his tone, "I'd rather know from you regardless." he said honestly. He listened with interest to the somber tale offering small comforting noises but being sure to let her get it all out before responding. He reached out to take her hand gently and offered a supportive smile, "Endings are often sad but they are the only way for new things to begin." he replied with a small sigh and chuckled lightly, "At least that's what I have been told by incessantly optimistic well wishers." he added with a wry shrug. More earnestly he met her gaze and spoke gently, "I'm sorry you were hurt." he says honestly, "Even if he never intended it." Ellis explained with surety. "I think it can be easy to lose track of the self with," he nodded toward the small figurine of Fleur sitting betwixt them, "All of this." he speculated and glanced back to Stesha, "As for Tabloids," he intoned his words and visage somewhat troubled, "I have experience enough with them and can gladly renew appropriate restraining orders." the brutal murder of an upper class white woman and the automatic suspicions cast upon the husband were no less fodder for the trashier elements of the press than the more outlandish exploits of super heroic romance after all. The worst of the vultures had been warned off from his house and children by legal action that would easily enough be reinstated if trouble seemed to be brewing on that front.

Ellis nodded with a laugh, "Yea that's the one." and winced at his error, "There's a tiny white haired one he declared his muse." he offered with a shrug, "He's trying to write a Young Adult Supers coming of Age story or something." Ellis explained with a shrug, "But you're not wrong if I end up in the costume aisle he might put it together." The dream guardian frowned slightly, "Though the costume is a fair departure none the less." he laughed slightly at the thought of it all, "That is all ahead of the current matter certainly." he rubbed the bridge of his nose and shook his head, "This is already pretty surreal I can't even imagine," he paused at the slightly stuttered words, "I'm sorry." he apologized at her commentary on the absent father and carefully took the Doll she had conjured to look at it curiously though commented at neither the inaccuracies nor how it paled in comparison to the genuine article. He did however look up to her, "I don't mean to pry and wouldn't ask but to ensure I don't stumble again onto difficult topics but Amaryllis' father?" he asked carefully, "I didn't realize he was in the same line of work." he intoned quietly, "If you don't wish to discuss it I understand you owe me no explanation."

Huang took in Robins performance with an approving nod, girl had some pipes on her that was for sure even if the golden oldies were not really his proverbial 'jam'. He was pleased everyone seemed to be enjoying the game and getting along well enough now. Clearly Rileys Hooch was settling nerves and loosening inhibitions to keep things fun. With Robins dare he turned to Raina with rapt interest few things were as enticing as a potential new spell to puzzle out and giving the witch a chance to shine on the hallows eve seemed a sweet deal all around he was sure they were in for a show and boy was he right. His eyes widened in awe at the transformation, "Full body glamour." he said with an approving nod and anachronistic thumbs up, "Nice." He stepped forward murmuring under his breath a spell to enhance his mage sight as he examined the workings in more detail. "That's a complex one." he acknowledged, "Seen practitioners that couldn't pull it off without a rite." He then looked more at the outcome than the magic itself and his lips tweaked in a smile, "That's awesome, Reminds me of uncle Burt." He said with a grin then glanced to Matt as he caught the flicker on the periphery of his vision before dismissing his concerns with a keep the party going clap and suggestion, "Alright So who's next Raina?"

"Well not to mention the commute to Nicholson." Ellis joked lightly with an amused grin, "It's difficult choice though hardly final." he acknowledged with nod, "There is something to be said to being introduced to the club such as it is earlier rather than later." he did note with a wry grin his own inclusion in the ranks heroic a rather fumbling one initially. He grew thoughtful at her question, "Well I have thought about it obviously." he replied cheekily trying to keep the banter light despite the serious overtones of the conversation. "I probably will have to before long," he admitted, "I knew that when I told the kids and frankly I welcome it in a way I suppose." his eyes were downcast as the repercussions welled up. He looked back to Stesha blue eyes piercing and intense, "They do deserve to know but retelling all of it." he shook his head, "Plus Frank has these dolls all around his desk, Half the league, those kid heroes from a few years back, the Freedom Youth?" he winced shaking his head, "I don't know I didn't follow these things before and now it just seems even more weird. I mean those are people not just like characters they have lives, probably families." he grimaced disturbed by the fan phenomenon. "Then again I'm not so out of touch not to realize that is low hanging fruit as far as excuses go." he added with a self deprecating laugh.

bluh maths. Lessee Gauss is +10 attack to start, -1 for fatigue, -4 for firing into melee, roll of 16 for a 21 total; Backup is 9 defense + 4 for prone for a total DC 23. So I guess not. though almost.
-
So as Shaen corrected me on the range penalty is -2 per increment not -1 so you'd be at a -10 not -5 to hit the retreating Merc. Together with fatigue that would be a net -1 Attack for a result on that roll of 15. On the other hand that roll woudl hit the guy Kingsnake has been trying to get to stay down if you wanted to aim it that direction.
-
Right you are it would be -10 at that range increment I thought it was -1 per increment which says something about how often I've encountered the rule...

Backup Three is Prone in the the train car with Gauss and Kingsnake Backup Four is 5-600 Feet away towards the front of the train (-5 to hit for gauss unless he can move to catch up.)

Eyes twinkling above his glass as he took a sip of his own Ellis clearly was entertained by the tale of ovic woe. "I had no idea moving livestock was such a production." he revealed his voice still dancing with mirth, "I'm a city boy through and through." he admitted and shrugged, "Though I imagine the nature of sanctuary makes such measures more vital." he acknowledged somewhat more seriously he was somewhat curious how the internal microbiome was controlled but he realized before saying anything that was not polite dinner conversation to say the least. Setting down his glass a soft smile crept to his face at the mention of the children, "They are settling in well." he explained easily, "I think Nicholson certainly makes the revelation of what their mother did," he paused uncomfortable for a moment before adding, "What I do, easier." He grinned and looked to the side as he recalled some of Gabes most recent tales, "Gabe is still full of excitement about all of it and friends with occasional special abilities just make it better." he offered with a shrug. "Jenny." he frowned slightly, "She loves the school and new friends, but is worried about fitting in without powers of her own, wants to take martial arts, and gymnastics, and," he raised a brow, "archery?" he shook his head, "I don't know exactly what she is expecting to need to do to fit in but I'm not sure I'm ready for it." he offered with a rueful laugh. he grew slightly somber, "Neither of them like not telling Grace or Frank." he added as an afterthought, "I really probably should I guess but the kids don't know to worry, Grace would." he bit his lip and looked up at Stesha a smile creeping in despite the tough topic, "But all in all they are good, your advice was very good." he added with a grin, "How's Ami doing? You know if you're goign to have her commute over for school or stay with the, creche?"He asked uncertain of the terms for a moment.

GM Post On board the stopped cars the fight was not going the mercenaries way. Thier leader continued to take a brutal beating at the hands of the Kingsnake, the heavy plates of his armor all that saved him from severe injuries as the large vigilante landed atop him with crushing force. Even with the suit of armor the air was crushed from his lungs leaving him writhing and gasping on the floor. In the skies above the Mercenary targeted by Gauss was flung further into the air losing control of his flight systems under the barrage of kinetic energies and tumbled from the skies like stone as they gave out, the resounding thud of his impact with the ground audible even among the chaos above, if he survived the fall he was in no shape to resist the police in the vicinity. Only one of the mercenaries remained relatively intact rolling as he flew away to unleash a wild volley of blistering particle beam fire right at Kingsnake whilst the acrobatic vigilante was still recovering from his assault on the mercenary leader. His aim was true and the deadly energies coursed toward Kingsnake only to be intercepted by Phalanx barreling out of the sky to take the blast full in the chest bracing himself against the barrage with heroic resolve he was unharmed beyond some minor scorching of his uniform. The final Mercenary realized perhaps too late that the Leader was a lost cause and fired his boosters flying away over the front of the train at speed intent on at least escaping prison time.

'It's not enough.' Ran through Phalanxs mind as the train continued to plow toward the gap blown in the track by the mercenaries, 'Not enough time, but I have to stop it.' As the train shuddered and screeched with the emergency brakes engaging he redoubled his efforts butting all he had and then some into stopping the train and its disastrous course. Grimacing against the strain as his feet lifted from the slick track and he braced himself instead with the power of his flight the train slowed to a stop just shy of the breach but safe. He offered a heartfelt nod of appreciation to Miras through the windshield for her timely aid in stopping the vehicle and was gone in a streak of blue and gold streaking toward the ongoing fighting in the rearmost cars where they had come to a stop after being detached.

That's the long way of writing forcefield. Started as permanent goes to continuous as an extra (and can be turned off) then from continuous to sustained as a flow (and has to be maintained with a free action or concentration check) I didn't want to write a bunch of details about what he underwent as he doesn't even have solid memories of it. I can add a blurb about that though if desired. Mostly he was drugged out and pumped full of super serum then had cybernetic implants put in for control and to stabilize his powers. Getting sprung is actually intended to be a thread for Nighthawk, Maybe Kingsnake and whoever they might bring along so since it's gonna happen onscreen I left it out of background. Technically at start he's still in labyrinth control though doesn't become a PC till the thread wraps.
