Ellis blushed under the glare from the unknown angels smug expression and let out a small sigh at the infuriating tattooed man. He did however brighten when his stammering nonsense did not send Stesha running for the hills, in sanctuaries case not so proverbially. "Yes, Freedom Medical." he confirmed, "ER exam three." he offered, "Any of the staff can point the way." he offered and paused, "And thank you." he added earnestly, "I do appreciate it, I'm sure your expertise will be sufficient to ease my conscience." he agreed as he did not want to put her out tracking down the angel on hiatus. After hanging up he turned back to Ray, "You're in luck an associate of mine is going to stop by to assure you are not actively wanted at the least." he explained succinctly and stared at the other man for a moment, "and if needed we can call upon higher powers to verify your story." he warned not liking the mans attitude one bit.
-
Ellis' brightened visibly at the news she'd been thinking about him and shook him immediately off the task at hand, "Oh really." he mused and blinked, "Well yes that would be delightful I," he paused as he caught Rays look, "Uh I think that would be very nice yes." he agreed more formally. "I was actually calling for business not pleasure." he winced, "Gah, er not that talking to you isn't a pleasure." he hurriedly corrected pinching the brow of his nose. He let oyu a short breath and explained succinctly, "I'm at work, well actual work not other work, at the hospital." he babbled gritting his teeth at the sound of his own voice. "There is a patient that is marked," he shot ray a look, "with enochian markings, Demonic or celestial script." he offered, "He claims not to be demonic but I can't be sure and since you know you have your contacts with the league and there was an angel on the league I think right? anyway I was thinking perhaps you'd be a good person to call to confirm he at the least isn't wanted...:" the last rushed out all in one breath and he grimaced into the phone, "But you're probably busy I'm sure I don't need o bother you over this little..." He glared at Ray and the mans cavalier grin. Covering the phone he hissed, "No, maybe if you are what you say and lay off the smug I'll consider it." before returning to speak to stesha, "Ah matter..."

Ellis quirked a brow at the lizard thing comment less surprised than he ought have been by it. He stared impassively at Ray and shook his head, "No I would be disinclined to believe that in particular." he said softly and withdrew slightly as the tattoos began to shift at the command of the claimed non-demon. He looked askance upon the cross presented then back to Ray, "I'm fairly certain the holy cross is not holy when summoned from the flesh a demon or it's thrall." he replied cooly, "So that would prove nothing." he frowned slightly, "And be really strange." he added as an afterthought. He paused for a long moment then a small smile crept to the corner of his mouth, "Actually I may be able to verify your story in part at least." he suggested quietly, "Just have to make a quick call." he explained and took a step back to dial Steshas number. It was arguably a business call, thus surely wouldn't count against any 'too early now its weird' count. And potential demon was a totally legit reason to call, there was an angel on the league or something right?

As the roof of the monorail car is peeled back the smoke is rapidly pulled from the cabin the forward doors slide open revealing the Phalanx clad now in his classic blue and gold costume. In a blur he crosses the short distance to the mobsters now taking aim at Kingsnake across the car heedless of the other passenger in their line of fire, "Excuse me gentlemen," He intoned over the roar of the wind as the train rushed on, "I'll have to ask you to surrender your weapons." As the mobsters whirled to bring the guns to bear he shook his head and in a flash reached out to snatch the flanking thugs by the collar lifting them off their feet and crashing them together against the third before a stray shot might penetrate the other cars. Depositing the thugs in a heap at his feet he peered up at the Mercenary attacking Miras with his stun batton. The paragon narrowed his eyes and they flared red with power before a stream of deep red energy shot across the intervening distance cutting the arcing weapon cleanly in half. "That goes for you as well." He called out though his voice barely carried over the wind to the speeding transport.

Phalanx Move action: Reenter the train car and approach the mobsters Standard action: Attack the mobsters next to him taking ten will hit and he'll pull his blow to a +12 which is still enough to KO them all with takedown attack. He'll then surge for an extra standard and burn the HP to clear fatigue. Free action switch array to energy vision Surge Standard: Energy vision sunder on the Gunners weapon on the transport Power attack for +2; 1d20 + 14 = 28: Hit DC 27 Toughness. Item takes ten and is disabled and no longer functional. Initiative Phalanx 24 5HP Uninjured Kingsnake 18 2HP Uninjured Mobsters 18 KO'd Miras 16 1HP (Fatigued, can spend HP to clear) Backup(Pilot) 16 Uninjured Backup(gunner)16 Uninjured Backup(One) 16 Uninjured Backup(Two) 16 Uninjured Backup(Three) 16 Uninjured Backup(Four) 16 Uninjured Backup(Five) 16 Uninjured Gauss 12 1HP (Fatigued can spend HP to clear) Kingsnake is up.

They are not minions but that will hit. DC 25 Toughness Save 1d20 + 11 = 26 His armor resists the blow. The Second Shot misses.

Ellis frowned at the tattoo'd man and his obvious mirth at what he felt was a rather clever ploy, and in it's own way successful at least now he knew Ray at least had awareness of the supernatural. "No." he retorted baldly, "That's absurd." he stated and watched the man carefully, "It would be patently absurd for a doctor to suspect Demonic possession was behind a simple fall down the stairs." he said pointedly, "Of course only an idiot would actually believe the stairs thing in the first place." he countered a bit needled by the mans clear mirth at his suspicions. "Do you care to be more honest about why you are in need of more potent pharmaceuticals? Or shall I have you discharged Mr. Haskel?" he asked pointedly.
-
Ellis nodded slowly, "There are toxin that build up over time and could leech from certain inks if you used something unusual." he noted quietly, "But if it was but a freak accident those happen as well." he said in a non-confrontational tone well honed to working with prickly patients here and in the free clinic. There was potential for the sigils to be other than binding of course sigles to breach bindings of the demonic were not necessarily better and he'd pretty much reached the end of his knowledge. He could try to call in phantom though if it was just some neo-wiccan occultist that had copied cool stuff from a book that would be, embarrassing. He thought for a long moment about the dilemma before a potential test occurred to him, "Well we might be able to get you something stronger but it ought be taken with food." he offered carefully trying to keep his affect flat through the bluff, "We can order something from the cafeteria, they have an excellent monte Cristo?" he inquired watching carefully for any tell tale response to the word.

Alright now Gauss is up. The three mobsters at the front of the train are still outside the cloud and it will clear completely after your action so you can still use it as cover to change if you need to. Also the power armored mercs have opened a large hole in the train but not entered and made themselves available as targets as well now.
-
GM Post The illusion unfolded over the train like a rolling tide the discordant imagery easy enough for the unknown heroes still aboard the train to shake off but less so for the mercenaries preparing to breach the train. Roughly half the Mercs seemed to resist the manipulations of the sorcerous hero but their tightly organized plan was thrown to shambles by the confusion sown in their ranks. While some requested confirmation the others tried to carry out their part or fill in for those stalled by the illusion. They managed to open the top of the train but their clean entry was not realized as a gaping tear was ripped in the sleek skin of hte speeding train without the mercs being able to enter and seize control with an element of surprise they had hoped. None the less the smoke was rapidly being sucked from the train car and soon would leave all exposed once more. On board the armored transport the gunner turned whipping out an extendable baton sparking with arcs of electric danger and turned on the source of the illusion swinging the weapon with obvious skill, however the Pilots sudden turn at the abort order threw him off balance and it swing past the dodging magus with inches to spare.
-
We'll just use the same saves. Kingsnake and Gauss are effected but as they see their civvie selves restrained clearly it is a faaaaaaaake so they will break it for them almost immediately. Phalanx passes the check and is uneffected. The Gunner is unaffected the Pilot is affected. Two of the Power Armored Mercs are affected three are not (aaaand I rolled one too many saves so will drop the extra roll) One Merc begins to cut through the roof the other is requesting confirmation on his coms the three that were set to enter the train are blocked as the roof has not been peeled back. So they effectively lose a round straightening out the plan. As there are no other mercs to secure the train they will break the illusion once they realise that on their next round but Miras bought some time with the confusion. The Door gunner will draw a stun baton and go after Miras 1d20+11 = 17, and miss.
-
Miras is up then the Mercs will take their standard actions if able.
-
GM Post The door of the armored transport slides aside revealing a small squad of power armored mercenaries. Thier matte black armor similar in styling to that of the well known Power Corps though altered from the chrome favored by that well known group. In the door in matching unpowered body armor a gunner swings and advanced looking weapon into position to cover the disembarkation of the armored squad. The mercenaries launch with coordinated military efficiency and fly in formation to the train car where two take up position to breach the roof while the remaining trio prepares to dive into the train once breached. Their actions are clearly coordinated by a standing plan for such an encounter, this is a tight tactical operation much in contrast to the almost bumbling approach of the thugs on board the train. Mercenaries like these do not come cheap, whoever is behind this has deep pockets.
-
No worries. I kinda had to bail amid discussions not surprising some confusion reigned from it. Alright so. the door will slide open revealing Five individuals in matte black power armor all of the same design. For those who have seen it before it appears to be a variation on that of the Power Corps armor though the change in color scheme suggests a different group with similar or same suppliers. Manning the door is a lighter armored door-gunner/co-pilot, the pilot is visible through the cockpit canopy in similar unpowered body armor. The door-gun is some kind of advanced weapon perhaps an energy weapon given the lack of obvious ammo feed. As Miras flows her smoky form into the transport the power armored mercenaries launch out through the door lining up to intercept the monorail. Before they get their standard actions Miras can surge for her illusion or another effect. IC incoming then Miras will be up.
-
Nah a double move will keep up and get her into the transport. I'll try and get this rolling this afternoon.
-
A double move gives you the speed you need to get into the craft so I don't think you'll be fatigued if you don't take a standard action? What are you expecting fatigue from?

Ellis was only half paying attention as the mans lies were pat enough to be old hat to any doctor of experience. Bindings spectacular, he thought to himself uncertain if they were invitations in or some seal willing or not. He assumed it was demonic of course as binding a celestial power seemed, foolish, at best. Not that binding demons ever went well for a person now that he thought about it. "The concern is what caused the fall in the first place." he opined quietly as he returned to his stool and met the mans eyes, "I really can't help you unless I know what happened." he explained with a meaningful gaze. He closed the tablet with the patients records on it and set it in his lap gingerly, "Have you fallen like this before? What brought this on I assume if you work near stairs you don't normally have trouble navigating them." he quirked a brow, "Are any of your tattoos particularly recent?" he suggested trying to work out a medical reason to ask after the suspicious ink. "If an unusual ink or contaminant got in through your tattoos it might cause, problems." he suggested obliquely.
-
"Oh you are quite welcome to join in Ms. Chevalier." Changeling replied easily with a nod, "The simulation is more than capable of adjusting to your aid." she explain with an excited nod and took a step back vanishing into the small control and observation area where Robin would recall Dauntless and the students not being tested had watched the other assessments in her last sojourn into the doom room. As the girls crept across the ominous grounds of the asylum it was clear something wasn't right, the small guardpost at the gate was abandoned and seemingly in a hurry. From the distant building itself the quiet of the night was punctuated by a blood curdling scream of terror or the haunting tones of unhinged laughter. The environs themselves were unsettling enough but there was something more a constant tickle at the back of hte neck as if being watched, or hunted.
-
Ellis hardly looked up as the man began his complaints focussing on the case history, it's many holes, and the other doctors notes. When he did look up his eyes travelled from the empty bed to the complaining man and for a long moment he froze. In the notes the supposition was some kind of fight ring or perhaps an escapee of vigilante justice. Of course the other docs wouldn't know what to make of enochian script even if they had noticed them. He finally stood to approach the chair eyes locked on the other man as he tried to make out anything further from the Tattoos. Enochian script, chains and flames rarely held good intentions but one ought be sure. "So it says here you fell?" he asked carefully, "Have you had any previous weakness, dizziness, or issues with balance?" he asked as he moved to check the mans eyes and some of the facial contusions though his real goal was a more thorough examination of the script crawling across the mans flesh. He really began to wish he'd paid more attention to Phantoms briefing on demon inhabitation.

Mike glanced to Alex and shrugged slightly as he smiled to Tirakosa, "Uh yea I guess so." he agreed though he was pretty certain he was done with drinking it tasted horrid and had none of the numbing of feelings espoused by his less invulnerable brethren. He however nodded firm agreement with Alexs explanation, "I, uh, don't usually do that either really." he admitted with a weak smile, "But I'm happy to have you as a friend regardless." he assured her his tone earnest and in this at least less uncertain than his demeanor around the more fraught topics of romantic entanglements. He however was happy to move on to more salient topics and asked curiously, "When did your powers develop?"

Ok so. Saithor, Gauss is not up yet, the backup and Miras' held action go first. Also Miras changed inside the cloud so would not have been visible changing. Blast is not an AOE effect and Damage with an AOE effect is centered on you and (with rank 10) effect everyone within 50 feet (Which would include your fellow heroes as well as the bystanders and the train itself a Damage ten effect is roughly equivalent to a rocket launcher or a tanks main gun so that could be disastrous (Though you can decide to do only non-lethal damage so that wouldn't affect the train actually but would likely knock out the bystanders) So if you get a chance to remove that post so the Backup and Miras can get their actions off I'll get an IC up for you to react to. So on the backups action the door will open Miras will sweep in as the power armored dudes inside begin to fly out and begin to approach the train. Before they take the rest of their action to breach the train she has the opportunity to surge for illusion or whatever. Lemme know what your plan is Rav while we wait on fixing saithors confusion. Sorry I had to Bail on chat right as allt his was being discussed before le sigh.
-
Alright we'll need saves from the PCs then. Phalanx passes with a one so he's fine at least (Dating one of the settings most potent psychics has some benefits it seems)
-
Will Saves: 1d20+4 = 7, 15, 13, 19, 13, 21, 20, 10 Half of the backup is affected including the pilot but not the co-pilot (that could get interesting for them) If the illusion is within perception of the rest of the heroes they need to save as well but go ahead and post.
-
GM Post The mobsters were caught completely unaware by the sudden cloud of smoke and doubly so by the rapid fire series of punches unleashed upon them. The group towards the back of the train hadn't even time to reach for their guns before the Kingsnake disabled them with brutal efficiency. The few remaining passengers on the train cowered in their seats uncertain what was happening within the thick cloud of smoke a afraid for what would come next. At the front of the monorail car the remaining mobsters were little better off as they reached for weapons and called out in alarm, "We got capes!" as they tried to peer through the thick smoke to see what they were dealing with. Overhead the whine of the approaching transports turbojets screamed as it maneuvered to pace the train the door on its side beginning to slide open.

They are minions and 18 does in fact hit! However they manage a slim chance to make the toughness check so rolls! Toughness save DC 25 1d20+5 = 23, 10, 13 All fail and are KO'd Looks like they will need that back up! Initiative Phalanx 24 6HP Uninjured Kingsnake 18 2HP Uninjured Mobsters 18 One group of three Miras 16 1HP Uninjured Backup 16 Unknown but loud Gauss 12 1HP Uninjured The mobsters are actually under a surprise round as they were not expecting smoke and super heroes! They are no longer however flat footed. Miras is up.
