  1. Huang looked over at Rileys retort and nodded, "Uhm, Well at least on all the medical dramas my grandparents used to yell at on TV they had orderlies and nurses to do that part but yea sure sterile conditions are important." he agreed and went back to quietly and rather slowly pulling staples. He stopped entirely when Riley launched into more vitriolic speech on the lack of communal spirit in the world and how that was somehow tied to rare superpowered beings. the dahmpir stared for a long moment at Riley not exactly sure what was even said no less how to respond precisely. Finally he bit his lip thoughtfully and carefully spoke, "Uhm, What?" he asked as how superpowers, lack of community and people being all up in others business did not seem even loosely related to Huang.
  2. "Oooo Kay." Huang replied letting the all too obvious lie alone for the time being and walked a few paces in silence letting the shorter boy take the lead easily, he'd gone enough places with his mother to know it was way easier to pace yourself when they were in front anyway. "Uh it kinda is?" Huang replied with a small smile, "I mean sure it is a thing that needs doing and all but you can hardly say society is better off if a doctor is scrubbing floors when he could be curing diseases or performing surgery." he noted with the kind of quiet privilege of the very out of touch but not actively randian. "Hedge fund managers on the other hand." he shrugged with a laugh, "It's an imperfect system to say the least." At Rileys brisk pace they soon reached the staple studded board and the torn remnants of fliers from the last year and summer. from the weathering this was a task not done regularly likely only when there were particularly problematic students to task with it. Huang let out a sigh and began lazily pulling staples from the board with the pliers and depositing most of them in the bucket.
  3. Huang stared at the strange little man and his buckets and took one with a huff, "Yea got it don't lose any of your precious staples." he said snidely earning a none to pleasant glare from the groundskeeper. He winced in the bright light of the outside as they emerged and pulled his sunglasses from his coat and quickly shielded his vision. Looking out towards the open field and lack of shade he reluctantly agreed, "Yea sure as good as anywhere I guess." he acquiesced with a quick longing glance to the tree laden quads nearer the buildings. As they walked over he peeked at Riley out of the corner of his eye, "Avoiding them isn't going to make it go away." he finally murmured when they were out of earshot of the crowds in the quad, "Just feeds the fire lets them dictate the terms ya know?" he offered with care. He had seen the video of course, it had been kinda nasty but it was less shocking when you thought the guy hunted your kind to start with and moreover Huang knew better than most the sting of assumed villany due to unusual habits.
  4. Huang looked over at the slight scuff behind him and frowned, "I know you're better'n that tarzan." he murmured with a small laugh and turned to face the other boy his gaze still haughty as he examined the other student. He took in the absent crossbow thoughtfully and turned back to open the door, "Crap rolls downhill and my Dad yelled at half the staff and the headmaster cus he caught me bailing on the lame museum trip." he left out getting high as a kite on god blood as that was not the part of that rumor that needed to get around the school if he was going to be the revered bad boy rebel of the school. "So now detention for a week." he moped and held the door still not entirely comfortable having a monster hunter with an axe at his back. Inside the room lined with confiscated toys of varying complexity and world ending potential stood the seemingly frail and slightly mad figure of Basil Faulks head custodian. When the boys entered he seemed to be in a staring contest with an old concert poster in one corner of the room mumbling about it always staring at him. He whirled as he heard them and eyed them each with a mad glare, "No students down here what're you about?" he demanded then looked down at his desk and the slip of stationary from the headmistress desk, "Oh you all are here for the detention then." he grabbed a pair of plastic buckets that had seen better days each with a screwdriver and pair of pliers inside and held them out. "There are bulletin boards outside each dormitory, the Gymnasium, and the administration building." he barked, "You two are to clear down any fliers without an official stamp or past their date and remove unused staples and pins." he ordered and sniffed as he looked over their shoulders like there was someone behind them, "An no leaving them on the ground!" he gestured at the buckets as expected receptacles of the tiny fasteners.
  5. Claremont Academy 9/18/2015 (three days post Lets get it started), 10:30AM Sunny with light clouds If Huang had been raised in circumstances less bizarre the trek down to the boiler room adjacent janitorial office would have been downright creepy with the poor lighting and strange sounds in the distant subterranean halls echoing like something out of a horror movie. As it was however event the more familiar environs could not improve his mood much. Not only detention but detention wasted on menial tasks for the mundane staff of the not so mundane school. He arrived a few minutes later than he had been ordered too outside the door to Basil Faulks 'office' and paused with a smirk listening in for the mans famed odd mutterings, if there was truth to any of them they could after all be useful and if not they certainly sounded hilarious from the poor attempts at being scary the upperclassmen had made regarding the strange groundskeeper.
  6. "Sweet." Huang replied when Whoop Ant revealed his singular status. Sharing space was not his strong suit and he'd been dreading the necessity. He ambled over to the lists to find his room number at least and looked over the list to see if he recognized any names in the nearby rooms before glancing around the room to see how the others he'd met had been paired up or what not. "Well this isn't so bad after all." he noted with an easy smile nodding to the others in an aproximation of a friendly manner that hopefully read that way rather than predatory but who knew really.
  7. Phalanx has ties to the school and would be a willing mentor to younger heroes: Particularly in relation to power control and dealing with fear of their powers. I'm willing to hear pitches about Ouroboros but all that comes to mind is if you're a mystic that Summers doesn't like they might stick Huang with you because he's rather insufferable other than that Phantom and Avenger have rater intentionally not foisted him off on the mystics they know out of a desire for him to have something like normalcy in his life.
  8. It's bounced around Chat a few times but hasn't stuck yet so here's a thread! Do you have a character interested in molding hte heroes of the future? Have a favorite Claremont Brat you want to take under your wing and put on the straight and narrow? (Or curvy and broad, bombshell...) Have a Claremont student in need of a mentor and not willing to risk the psychological trauma of Mr. Archer? Post who you have and what they'd be interested in mentoring/being mentored about!
  9. Huang was quite pleased with jest at Summers expense thus was surprised though amused when Set seemed concerned it was in fact accurate. He stared at the godlings response and quirked a brow as he formulated a clever yet less fraught response. No no Boarding School Dad reamed them out over my last unsanctioned trip so they are on edge No Roommate but technically not allowed to have girls over because they are basically nazis
  10. Alright so the two cockpit crew members are definitely dead. It smells not unlike a hawaiian BBQ in there. You are correct in your thinking in chat there are shady things afoot I'll post what after giving Heri chance to get a post in. Red feel free to get another reply in if you like.
  11. The Max troopers lowered their weapons to a ready position at the protestations of Sea Devil, and the vouchsafe of the Black Knight. One approached Aquaria and pulled her ID from the pocket she had detailed and handed it back to her as he nodded to the commanding officer, "Checks out." he said over hte suits speakers. At Black Knights outburst weapons went to the ready once more but as the object of the armored heroes angst became apparent they quickly waved an EMT team forward to see to the injured woman. Looking to Phantasmo with some disgust and Aquaria suspiciously the commanding officer pointed toward the blown out front of the store and a trio of obvious government agents in black suits conferring with an unhappy FCPD captain about jurisdiction, "The Agents will take your statements." She said firmly and turned to her own forces, "Secure the scene then aid with rescue operations interface with first responder networks, get moving!"
  12. Alright then Phantasmo and Sea Devil will notice that there are some private security types that have just arrived trying to bypass the police cordon and arguing while pointing at the building occasionally. Phantasmo will also notice that one of the employee doors at the back of the shop has a key card reader lit green for open which is odd as that wouldn't be an emergency exit to activate automatically or anything. Further investigation will reveal an employee keycard still in the reader.
  13. You all get 1HP for the passengers covering the pilots egress from the cockpit. Osprey, Seahawk will also notice it looks like one of the maintenance panels has been removed and hastily replaced, it could be shoddy maintenance at the airport, wouldn't be the first time, or something may have been tampered with in flight.
  14. As Seahawk and Miracle Girl set to work breaching the cockpit the passengers nervously settled in their seats. Most had thought the threat over once the flaming mad woman had been vanquished however it seemed they were not safe yet. Dr. Warfield looked up at El Huracan with some concern at his commentary but nodded, "Yes I imagine they will." he agreed and eyed the unconscious woman with mingled fear and sympathy, "I doubt she is working alone." he said quietly, "She has always had a volatile disposition but this," He paused shaking his head, "This is not a mere personal grudge there was some plan here." the doctor looked once more to the heroes both at the cockpit door and overseeing the defeated fire controller, "She is a Terminus Energy Mutation Syndrome victim." he said plainly, "I have heard the bare whispers of some organizing of their kind but I," he shook his head, "I do not know what could bring such reckless hate." His words were punctuated by the crash of the cockpit door giving way. Within both copilots were slumped in their seats their uniforms lightly singed whilst the bodies themselves were charred as if they were burned without the flames touching their uniforms. The Captain was nowhere to be seen, the plane on autopilot to continue it's slow loop over the city, Seahawk would take note that the digital instrumentation displays seemed off from standard configuration, some pilots preferred alternate configurations though it was rare on commercial flights.
  15. Huang loitered until the others had gone through the portal before stepping through to follow ahead of his mother. He loitered nonchalantly near the portal as he scanned the surroundings and shook his head to Riley, "No more than any wild beast, dangerous if they feel threatened or think you a likely meal." he offered win a somewhat affected bored tone. He looked over to Winifred and felt a bit badly for her he knew what it was like to be plunged into social situations without a read on the nuances, "Men of ill intent used the basic framework of that argument to exploit rather than elevate less technologically advanced peoples." he said frankly, "So now it is highly frowned upon as assumed cultural superiority has led to a great deal of unnecessary suffering in the span you were out of commision." He looked to the others as they examined the odd peculiarities of the region, "If not for the natural portals to this realm we would risk much setting foot here at all." he offered finally, "But preexisting stable portals means this world is not so disconnected from ours to start with."
  16. You were this is for new things afoot!
  17. Still waiting on Notice checks from Phantasmo and Black knight unless you all want to just assume too much distraction for one reason or another.
  18. He tries, fails but tries Huang left it at that as really the least interesting thing to talk to Set about was his parents assorted dysfunctions. He smiled down at her acquiescence and question and looked around his room shrugged and quickly typed out his reply as he looked out the window considering the grounds littered with teens going about their weekend festivities and the likelihood Set would take at least a year and a day to cross the minefield of selfie and autograph requests. Depends how confident you are about dodging the Warden and her goons Also the legions of likely adoring fans littering the sun cursed grounds
  19. Aquaria and PHantasmo get 1HP each for complications related to being inhuman and scary and or known felons. Exxacus I'll let you trigger your relationship complication for 1HP if you want your lady friend to be caught in the blast and visible. Also I need another round of notice checks.
  20. As the Black Knight rose, the first of the officers on scene started pushing back the crowds to cordon off a safe area in case there was further collapse or worse additional detonations. Ambulances and fie crew began to assist when the MAX armored rapid responders arrived and entered the building looking for the responsible parties. Unfortunately a Zombie and a Deep One did not make the best of impressions on the harried officers as they shone the lights of their suits through the dust, "Hands Up!" they demanded jumpily, "Come along peacefully and no one else has to get hurt." They warned and moved to aid Black Knight in the capture of these two obvious fiends.
  21. Unless you wish to break it down in one swift kick or something no need to roll to bust the door down. With Miracle Girl and Seahawk bashing and tearing at it with strikes or super strength it'll come down in a few hits without damage to anything else in the cockpit. No unusual sounds or IR signatures or anything on the door. You can post your IC of breaching the cockpit then I'll give you a description of the interior situation and we'll go from there.
  22. Dr. Warfield just stared at the woman who had assaulted him in confusion and fear for a long moment before being broken from his reverie by El Huracan. He blinked up at the hero as he spoke as if trying to place something and shook his head, "I know you did what you could." he murmured face downturned, "Most of the research is held by Aegis already." he said a bit sadly as he stared at the formerly flaming woman no more than three or four years older than Anibal himself, "Jenny..." he murmured, "How did it come to this..." he seemed a bit in shock at all the events but it seemed he knew his assailant or had known her at one point. Warfield took his seat along with the other passengers then who looked nervously on as Miracle Girl and Seahawk examined the door and prepared to breach it. To the chipper heroines enhanced senses there was no sign of anything unusual about the sturdy door. It may be no simple thing to breach the cockpit but the heroes present seemed equal the task.
  23. Ellis laughed lightly a relaxed laugh at her small joke and nodded as he pulled his phone out to confirm his schedule, "Nothing that can't be adjusted." he said flatly as the benefit of being an attending was making residents do your scut work when you had a date. "That sounds great." he said giving her hand a comforting squeeze as he released it. "I look forward to it." he offered with a smile and frowned slightly, "Should i pick you up or?" he asked uncertainly as really he had no idea how the whole inter-dimensional thing really worked for her.
  24. Ellis reached out gingerly to take her hand if she didn't withdraw, "Stesha." he said firmly more decisive in this than his fumbling attempt at asking her out, "I understand." he said and let that hang in the air for a long moment, "I am not trying to replace anyone nor find a replacement." he sighed slightly, "Regardless of my sisters eternally unhelpful advice." he grumbled with a slight dimpled smile at the levity, "I look forward to getting to know you better and more pleasant conversations." he said finally with a bit more certainty then bit his lip consideringly, "Sooo," he drug out, "Is lunch next or are we on to dinner?" he asked with a gentle smile, "Because I really have no idea what the norm is and refuse to ask my sister or the girls at the hospital." His smile was delicate at the last and his eyes hopeful that he'd eased her mind and perhaps lifted her spirits a bit.
  25. Ellis smiled an almost shy smile that lightly dimpled his cheeks, "Well I certainly think the ones I've met so far are pretty cool." he acknowledged and looked away schooling his features for a moment as he shook his head, "No actually i'm a native born and raised." he offered with a shrug, "It seems like there's one on every street corner but other than a couple doctorate in a week wiz kids never met one in person till." he waved to indicate her and the others at the party though technically Phantom preceded them. He blushed slightly, "Well other than Barbara of course." he added swiftly though clearly even with everything he still thought of her first and foremost as wife and mother not super hero. He paused for a moment after the, for him, awkward juxtaposition and cleared his throat lightly, "I was grew up in Hanover, other than a few vacations never really been outside the greater Freedom area." he offered with a shrug. Ellis looked around the shop for a moment almost nervously and glanced back to Stesha, "Well and one trip to a truly lovely alternate world." he added with a smile before finishing off his coffee. He met her eyes once more and earnestly stated, "Thank you for meeting me it has been, incredible to talk to someone without..." he couldn't really put in words the weight off his shoulders of not having to hide the powers end of things or the awkward comforts of semi strangers over his loss, "Everything." he said finally and steeled himself, "Would you be interested in maybe grabbing lunch sometime?" he asked and frowned not sure if that was too casual, "Or dinner?" he added then walked it back, "Breakfast, a meal." he winced slightly and sighed, "I'm really out of practice." he admitted, "But this is the best conversation I've had in a long time and I'd like another some time." he finally laid out with a wince as he realized he hadn't even confirmed she was single though he knew about her ex-husbands departure vaguely.
