Time rippled and stopped around Mike, halting him in his tracks for a barely perceptible heart beat before the Terminus energy around him seemed to flex and warp. Before this moment, Phalanx had ever been a bastion of all that was good and right with this world but in his rage, the Terminus felt just the kind destructive potential in the youth and pushed. Zoe's own Terminus energy was no match for that sort of power and time sprung back on its normal course with a teeth grinding squeal to those who could perceive it.

Terminus energy collision! GM fiat on Durf passing his save. Have an HP, Zoe!

"Wait... what?" Taylor asked slowly as the warm smile she'd given Jack at his arrival faded to wariness. Taylor hadn't tracked the bulk of that however what she had managed to follow made her make that face that usually preceded knocking him into a wall or three. "Let's move past the 'working on her emotions' for the moment and go straight to the part where you made Grim run from you screaming. What 'head'? You mean like an actual skull? For godsake, why did you have a head in your desk?!"

Alex gets knocked to the ground too!

'Baby? What's wrong...?" Alex frowned at the palpable distress radiating off of Zoe and then her gaze flicked to James' dread. Her hazel eyes narrowed in obvious thought before they widened. As the tableau froze, Alex looked at the two of them and disappointment filled her expression. However, not even Alex was expected the pounding back-beat that filled the speakers around the room. "Sweat, baby, sweat, baby. Sex is the Texas drought..." The projector that had earlier been used to throw up images from the school year flickered to life and in grade-a-porno style complete with grainy appearance on the film, a down right obscene highlights reel of James and Zoe's drunken one night stand flickered to vibrant life. For a good ten seconds of film, no one moved a muscle and not a single voice broke the sound of the Blood Hound Gangs back-beat that didn't quite cover the sounds from the video.

Init order: Zephyr: 58 Wander: 28 Breakdown: 15 Phalanx: 11 Edge: 10 Hellion: 8 Psyche: 5 Poor Claremont Mooks go last at 0. Isn't it nice to be the PCs? Everyone gets an HP for Phalanx getting a surprise round. (Except Phalanx of course). After Phalanx posts, we will officially be in combat rounds. If you are not on this list, you will get an HP for every round you miss until you roll in (I know some people haven't had a chance to log in). You can assume your character was knocked prone during Phalanx's round if you like, or was in the bathroom or whatever excuse you prefer.

Save Tonight has been moved along. Feel free to post reactions to the announcement but once Zoe and James both take the stage, I will have another GM post to move things into combat rounds. If you still have one on one dance scenes you wanted to do, start a new thread and post the link here in the OOC and I will edit a synopsis in to the post I just made.

Time passed as Freedom City's most unique student body proceeded to party like it was 2010. Pictures were taken, dinner was served along the side until the clock started to wind down. Eventually, one of the other students took the stage to get everyone's attention. It wasn't Daisy but it was one of her croney frenemies and she smiled her usual sugary smile as she prepared to read off the announcement of Prom Queen and King. "So... our new Queen is, Zoe MacMillan and her king... James Prophet!"
-
Alex smiled inulgently as Mike automatically moved to protect her from the shifting students. Never one to care much about the spotlight, she tucked her cheek against Mike and slid an arm around his waist, "Oh, but she's happy. This is like a teenage dream and for everything else, she's still a teenager." Alex wrinkled her nose at his mental teasing and poked his stomach with one finger, No bringing up the knobby knees and elbows phase at prom. That's just unkind. Not everyone has the sort of natural physicality that you do...
-
So, due to RL, we're doing the prom king/queen at noon west coast time today. Also (no, I'm not telling you why ) init please for after that post.

'Always so pessamistic, Mike. There's still senior year.' Alex smiled up at her tall boyfriend, at least a little closer to his height in her delicately strapped heels. She twirled under his arm, one of the few couples on the floor not doing the teenage grind and sway. 'Don't fret. Everything's going to be just fine.'
-
That's fine q. Go ahead and add it. :)

Alex and Mike had the advantage of being around before everyone else arrived. Just another sign of her frightful ability to plan and organize. So, as the line formed up for the photographer quickly, Alex smiled and reached up to rest her hand against the breast of Mike's tux. He lifted her other hand up to just about chin height - hers, not his of course or Alex would have been straining. They were hardly the most skilled or even, in Alex's case especially, the most athletic. It was more of a gentle sway across the dance floor than anything acrobatic or flashy but Alex never took her eyes from Mike's face as he gently spun her. 'I love you,' It was more the feeling than words that hummed down their private link, 'Everyone's in a good mood by and large, which means things are perfect. Just what I was hoping for. Something normal and teenage where we don't have to try and pretend to be normal teenagers...'

Okay, so the prom king/queen will be revealed Friday morning so you have until then for fluffy 'things to do at prom' then there will be.... DRAMA!

"He's not adopted!" Taylor said swiftly, her tone emphatic. She'd heard that question asked enough times over her mother that she reacted without thinking that perhaps telling a vampire that one of their kind had a baby. Of course, in Taylor's mother's case, it was the fact that her children resembled their Chinese father rather than their blue eyed and brown haired mother. "He was born just last month. He's even got Jack's eyes for goodness sake." Taylor turned to the picture automatically and then frowned, "Oh, its probably a good thing you caught the couch, honey. That would have woke him up for sure."
-
"So, tell me about your team," Bombshell suggested with that sparkling smile, her opening distraction rather mild as she feinted and swept her hand out towards his cheek. Jack could see that she really was just trying to touch him, her movements quick and controlled and no real power behind them. "Are they all terribly fearsome and you just happen to be the only pretty face or none of them scream 'baby killer' either?"
-
"No, its no duplication. He's not my match in the mystic arts. I'd be able to tell." Taylor responded firmly, cradling the baby in her arms almost a little too tightly, "But, yes, I can show you where he is now." Taylor was torn between staying with the baby and following the trail. She glanced to the mirror again, this time showing 'Avenger' and Jack of all Blades apparently talking on a rooftop. "There..."
-
Bombshell tucked and twisted with the momentum like a cat. As Scarab brushed her thoughts, she could sense the sheer exhilaration that her heedless flight engendered as well as a pulse of genuine and deep affection. Bombshell landed on the rooftop neatly. She straightened from her landing to blow a kiss back before neatly stepping off the roof and vanishing into the night. Later, in the Lair, Elena searched through all the work of the minor firm whose large scale focus seemed to be reengineering water purification techniques. The vial in question seemed to be the vector for the chemical bombs they were working on that they hoped would be able to clean waterways in the same way that contamination spread. They were still working on the actual purification process but they had some definate and encouraging progress in the last month and a half.

Talya remained quite fond of museums, despite the fact that heroic ethics dictated that she was restricted to looking and not touching these days. Still, it was a new exhibit and she was content to stroll through Egyptian hall with a faint smile on her face. She really had to drag Elena here again. The ex-thief strolled along on tippy high heels with almost unnatural ease. She was dressed as usual in a 40's retro flair, a slim skirt slit up the back with seamed stockings and a tailored jacket over a silk blouse. She stopped here and there, not bothering with the pamphlet at all as she strolled through the halls with bemused familiarity.

Alex glanced around and nodded slightly to everyone, and after giving Zoe one more hug, she broke away from the group and headed to the small stage, floating up to the microphone there. "If I could have everyone's attention?" Alex said as she adjusted the mike to her height and gave the teenagers a little smile, "First, I'd like to thank you all for coming to Claremont's Summer Nights. I'll get out of the way in just a moment and let the first DJ start us up. I just wanted to point out the photographers in the corner. They'll be here all night doing posed shots of couples and groups. If you have any requests as far as music goes, there's a stand to drop dedication requests on. Please try and keep them respectful, however. They will be screened. Don't forget to drop your suggestions for the prom kings or queens in. Now, lets make this a night to remember." With that, Alex nodded to the first DJ and held her arms to Mike to be lifted down, her smile absolutely radiant.
-
"Right here," her high and clear voice rang out as she floated up above her security detail. The shimmer of energy around her was visable and glowing. She frowned and gestured towards the concrete, "Stop this violence. What do you want?"
-
With her shields still down, Alex was psychically battered by Mark's agony and Zoe's anguish. For a moment, Alex couldn't breathe or ever think before her instincts kicked in and she reached for Mike for the anchor he presented. 'She's flashbacking. Help!' Alex directed Mike, knowing that his place in Zoe's memories as her protector would aid her more than Alex's more nuturing tact. Then she turned her attention to the tendrils that still tied her to Edge and hurridly closed down those connections.
