  1. "The two of us excluded from that, I'll assume," she shot back a teasing look before she considered the question. It was actually tough to figure that out between all of the dimensional travelling and then all of the characters that seemed to make Freedom City their home, "Let's see, for world view? I'm going to have to go with Ace Danger. Did I tell you he showed up at my apartment and dragged me off to shop? In Paris, I might add. He's a nice man, but unique. If we're talking about who gives me the willies? Doctor Archevielle. No contest there." Taylor repressed a slight shudder at the way all of her mystical senses had crawled the first time she'd met the famous scientist. Shaking it off with a roll of her shoulders, she tilted her head up at him, "What about you?"
  2. She watched his expression while he spoke, her dark eyes still troubled. Once he'd finished, Taylor relaxed back into her seat, relieved. "We'll the more contact I have with other people who spend their free time in capes and spandex, the more I find we're all a quirky lot. Some of it I wish I had known when this all started. Could have saved myself some heartache" She touched the back of his hand with just a brush of her fingertips, her voice softening as she added. "Thanks."
  3. "We should eat on your time table. I don't need to anymore. I can, though." For all of her irritation at the high handedness, it would have been rude to dismiss his offer of brunch. She threaded her arm through his and took in the sights as he led her to wherever he intended to go.
  4. Taylor's face flickered guiltily for a moment and she twisted in her seat to look up at him, "I hope you don't feel like you have to plan around that. I can eat, I just don't most of the time." She knew she'd mentioned to him that she found the whole social meal thing awkward before. It was true, and she didn't regret confiding in him but Taylor hoped he wasn't going out of his way to make her comfortable.
  5. "I'm afraid not. Besides, it would end up as a blood bath in the end. All mages cheat. Its a fact. Comes from the whole bending reality to your will thing." She wiggled her fingers 'mystically' with a low laugh, "I'm intrigued, I have to say. The only drive-ins I know about were in movies themselves. Those always seem to end with attack of the wolfman though."
  6. "Nope, doesn't bother me a bit. I grew up watching Indiana Jones and then developed a fondness for schlock horror in high school. Fantastic misapplication of magic doesn't bother me a bit," She grinned as she buckled herself in out of habit. Two doctors for parents, after all. "Plus, the whole sports on broom thing is fantastic. Sadly, we can never get enough mystics together in Freedom City to give it a go." She teased.
  7. More than good enough! Holey toledo, batman! You are indeed correct. It is a cypher based on following city landmarks. The starting point for which is marked by a sword and dragon: St George's Cathedral in midtown.
  8. Taylor found the pair of ballet-style slippers she'd been looking for and slipped her feet into them. She cast a glance around the admittidly spartan apartment and gave a little shrug, "This close to the university, you take what you can get. This place was a lucky find last year. I found roommates were a little too problematic for my schedule." Taylor plucked her keys out of a bowl of odds and ends near the door and tucked them into her jean pocket. She smiled up at him and gestured for him to procede her out so she could lock the door. "Nice shirt." Nice lots of other things but that would have been a bit forward after all.
  9. "Yes, what did you have in mind?" Alex agreed curiously as she was seated at the table. She smoothed her skirt down and pulled out the thin leather folio with her notepad.
  10. Taylor was running late, of course. Although she looked more than presentable in the fitted boot cut jeans and off the shoulder cap sleeved blouse, the sleek black hair had hurridly been twisted up in a clip and was still damp from the shower. She flashed him a dimpled smile and explained, "Sorry, it'll just take me a second to slip on some shoes. I should have known that a last minute trip to the store was a bad idea. Something always comes up."
  11. There wasn't a map but there did appear to be a cypher in the bottom of the schematic. "We'll put it back in a minute," Alex promised her friend, no more eager than he was to get caught.
  12. Alex laughed and, once she was steady on her feet began winding toward the fastest coaster in the park. "I'll rid in front the whole way with my arms up. That should prove there's plenty of clearance. Or we can go what Erin suggested and get you head protection"
  13. Psyche jumped at that before looking around curiously. She was more used to being the vanishee than the vanisher so she agreed aloud, "Oh, okay!" With one last look over her shoulder, Psyche floated back down to the rest-area. She grabbed some water first before using the facilities and washing off her face. Like any exertion, the mental kind could make one break a sweat. After that, she picked out an apple and a bar of granola that she ate swiftly but not fast enough to make her stomach hurt. Once the basic needs were taken care of, Psyche walked the room a few times to stretch out muscles that had been settled in one location too long as she munched on a cookie and took in the room's decorations. At twenty minutes on the dot, she headed back up to the room she'd been shown to meet with her teacher once more.
  14. "We should probably put that back... Hey, what's that?" Alex broke off as she pulled an old and very wrinkled paper out of the box. Unfolding it despite her better intentions, she puzzled out that it was some sort of schematic for a base of some kind. "Hey, Chris, are you good at reading these things?" She pushed the map at the only member of the team to pilot an airship.
  15. Alex let out a whoop and threw her arms up in the air with absolute glee. Tilt-a-whirl was definately on the top ten best rides ever. Even if you did risk barfing on it. She laughed and had to clap a hand over her hat quickly to keep from losing it as the ride really started going. Once it was over, Alex was the first one to bounce off and start a wobbly walk to the exit. By the time she reached the gate, she was laughing at how dizzy she'd gotten which really only made her walking even more crooked. She stopped to lean on the bars and and suggest, "Now the roller coaster?"

  17. Alex had slowly eased herself up, trying to manipulate the emotions of the giant creature. Unfortunately, she was a little more used to the pressure required on critters with a higher brain power. As it picked her up, Alex let out a distressed squeak as her arms and legs pinwheeled wildly. "Oh, oh dear," she managed, wriggling in her jacket. "C'mon, big guy. Put me down?" She tried projecting an image of getting set - gently! - on the forest path at the creature. "Please don't eat me?"
  18. Phantom nodded and vanished out of existance, only to reappear down in one of the holding cells. She went to pull the imp out of her cloak and unfortunately grabbed it by one leg instead of the neck like she intended. Phantom wasn't quite fast enough on jerking her hand out of the way. Instead it sank tiny fangs into the flesh of her hand. Shaking it off, she eyed the thing with accute dislike and teleported back up to Scarab's control room. When she popped back in, she was cursing under her breath in a mix of languages and peeling the glove off quickly. The imp's bite had left an almost dainty bite mark on her hand except for the black ichor it had injected into the wounds. Phantom plopped into one chair and pulled a rag from within her cloak that she used to soak out the poison. Fortunately for her, things like poison had little effect on her these days. It still made her want to blast the imp into its component parts. At this point, Phantom was starting to develop a complex about the damn things.

  20. "I questioned the little monster but it wasn't the most useful of conversations." The dry tone came from Phantom. "I've had a few run-ins with them. Irritating but a little too easy to subdue. Too easy. I keep blasting them back to hell before I can get my hands on one of them. Fluer, fortunately, is less violent than I am. I doubt you'd even need the holding cell with all of us here but I can drop the beastie off there if you'd like. I had a feeling your methods of information gathering might turn up something more than mine."
  21. "Not so terrible at all, in fact," Taylor replied with a tiny grin, pleased to have pulled one over on the older hero. She accepted the bags from Saundrine with a small wink and, once they stepped outside, flashed them to her storage space with a gesture. With her hands free, she tucked them in her pockets and cocked her chin up at Ace with a curious expression. "Where to now?"
  22. Lets go emotion control love on the big beastie. DC 17 will save
  23. Phantom lifted a brow at her companion and bobbed a little in place, indicating for Grim to go first with a gesture. She was the more stealthy of the two and better suited for the mission but she followed the gesture up with the promise, "I'm right behind you."
  24. "It won't hurt" Phantom promised quietly before Stesha found herself sucked into a black endless void. Eldritch lightning crackled silently accross her field of vision. There was no sensation of Phantom's hand and no sound in the silence. It ended abruptly as it began, leaving them both standing before the Scarab.
  25. "Two minutes," Phantom provided their ETA and snapped the phone shut. She turned to extend one black gloved hand to Stesha, "I'm sorry. My method of travel is less pleasant than most people but it won't take long." It would take no effort to deposit them both in the Lair's control room. She knew the layout well enough at this point. It did mean, however, a brief stopover in the void.
