  1. I can toss Leilani in! I've been meaning to get her into more mysticy threads with Frost!
  2. Robin froze as she was grabbed suddenly, the muscles under Corrine's hands rock solid. Thankfully, she'd long ago been trained out of 'hit first, apologize later' so with some effort, she forced her muscles to relax. "I don't eat out much," Robin said mildly, clearly not upset with the girl's effusive nature once she'd reigned in any combat-trained impulses, "But I'm sure someone can give you an idea where to find that sort of thing. Raina might now. Raina usually knows where to find just about anything and if she doesn't, Huang will know." Robin offered the information easily before she turned towards the soaking wet half-demon. "How's Cathy? I haven't seen much of her lately. Well, I haven't seen much of anyone, honestly." Absently, Robin stretched once or twice before making a quick leap for the rings high above head, and catching the lower ring with one taped hand. "Huang's one of the nicer local kids."
  3. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it as an ambush - nor did I mean that you had to speak about such things now, but I see the shadows in your eyes, Erik," Talya said as she turned towards the swordsman, hugging herself as if to ward off a wayward chill. Behind her blonde curls her expression was serene and composed, as sure a mask as any she'd ever worn. "We didn't get to choose our immortal spans but if I'd been given the choice in a moment, I would have grasped it. I wanted to live, after all." She paused, her gaze falling for a moment down towards Erik's chest and away from his eyes - or more specifically the wedding band that occupied its ever present place on the chain he wore. "I know you. You'd take on all the pain in the world if it could spare those you love a moment. I should advice you against it. I should tell you that the price is too high, not only for you but all those that you leave behind. I should but I can't. I love you." Talya paused and then turned fully away, "But I promised you honesty. Its the only thing you've ever asked of me."
  4. Ray rolled his eyes at Ace's grandstanding and then with a grunt of effort turned his efforts to the idiot that seemed like the nominal leader of this particular band of criminals. Clenching his hand into a fist, the flame tattoos burned as bright as the real thing along Ray's arm as they gathered around his fist. He discharged the power with a 'THWOOM' of energy that blasted that particular criminal into the teller's desk with a resounding crash. Alive but clearly unconscious, Ray's only real acknowledgement was a small nod of satisfaction. "This is the last time I let my assistant manager off early," Ray groused although it held no real truth. He'd certainly not have willingly sent one of his human employees into this sad-sack attempted robbery. "And I'm not 'big league'," he added to Ace, "I'm an artist!"
  5. Sure, we'll use the last HP for a re-roll just so something FINALLY hits. 27 Its autofire so DC 29 TOU
  6. Letsee if I can finally hit something! Attack Roll: 16 Ugh, I hate Orokos so much.
  7. "You ought to hear her come winter," Talya commented, the words dry. She gave Min's shoulder one last squeeze before ghosting back towards the couch on silent feet. Rather than talk around Erik as if he were a problem to be solved, she turned towards the man in question, her hands loosely clasped in front of her skirt and that lock of blonde hair obscuring half of her face. Oddly enough, Talya parted her hair on the same side that her son's odd eye was on. "No, I was just explaining that I wanted you to get a chance to get to know them better... so that when you really start wrestling with the immortality thing, you'll have other people to ask." It might have sounded as if she were implying they could suggest where to go to find immortality but, really, that was the easy part. Erik fell through magic portals on his way to get groceries. No, what Talya truly meant, was that he'd have people to ask about whether he should, or he shouldn't.
  8. "They are ever so much less glamorous than movies make out, trust me." Talya murmured as she swept Raina out with a note left behind for Erik when he returned. She guided her young charge towards the car where Dimitri and Ace waited. She gestured for Raina to slip into the back seat and followed in short order, shutting the door. "Punctual as ever, Mitya. You have my thanks for ensuring Ace arrived on time and without his usual flair." Her grin to Ace mitigated any sting from those words as the ribbing had a definite filial air. "Now, have you met Comrade Frost and Ace Danger, yet?" She asked Raina, "Dimitri and Ace are some of my oldest friends. This, of course, is Raina," she added to the immortals in the driver's seat. "Dimitri's here to make sure that if anything goes wrong tonight that you are extracted without any issue for your reputation. Ace and I can take a few more dings, both physically and in terms of criminal complaints."

"Mmm, Min should have snacks ready for post-battle cartoons. She knew you were coming tonight," Talya agreed, dropping her gaze in a way that made it clear she was absolutely checking out the rear end in question. Talya was more than good enough to look without looking like it but it would hopefully give Raina something less inflammatory to pull faces about. She did nod her head along with Erik's offer, although she added to the fencer more than the girls, "It would be good for Raina too. We're starting to hit the limits of where I can push her within the confines of the gym... without risking the mats or the sprinkler system. Though if you're going to have magic users not pulling their punches, you may have to find a less lovely assistant for that part. Steve perhaps. Else you'll not be able to give things your full attention." It was an odd, almost oblique comment but Talya's partners were all too aware of her particular allergy to magic that clashed with her curse. No one wanted a teenager to have to deal with the guilt of a fatality on their hands, after all.
  10. Robin's expression was studiously blank at the question, "I haven't had either of those, I'm sorry I don't have any good advice. I could tell you where to grab good Chinese but its a bit of a trek from here." She offered, blunting the question to the side a bit. "I wouldn't worry about playing catch up, honestly. They're good at dealing with students who might not have had a typical education so getting up to speed on a class or two should be easy enough. Hey, Phae. One of the weather kids making a mess of a summer's day or just weird weather?" Robin turned to the newcomer with one of her friendly if reserved smiles as she asked the question, "Hannah and Corinne are doing mat work so you should be fine running laps on the outside. I was going to work on bar and ring stuff myself. Oh, have you met Corinne? This is Phae. I'm Robin, by the way, don't think I mentioned my name."
  11. "My duties are only to see that the barriers between the worlds do not deteriorate further with this sort of traffic," Phantom said, which was certainly true although she'd absolutely interfered when the situation warranted it and she had the time and wherewithal to do so. Of course, anyone who actually knew of her, would likely know as much. Hopefully this Fast-Forward had never dabbled enough in the arcane arts to hear of Heshem's chosen guardian. She floated a good foot off the ground, her cloak billowing in wind that was not of this dimension. The travel through her Void had been blessedly brief if unnaturally cold and without any sense of direction or time while within its confines. Lifting her gloved hands up, she sketched out the lines of Fast-Forward's recent passage as she puzzled out the recent dimensional disturbance. Her attention was only minimally on the Clines as she added, "Which, in this case, means restoring the right man to the right dimension. There are countless numbers of worlds, each with their own problems. I endeavor to keep my involvement to a minimum where I can." Phantom was well aware that to many ears that likely sounded cold; it had certainly caused her conflict in the past. Perhaps that was why she kept so very much to herself now.
  12. The changes to Talya were subtle but noticeable certainly to someone who was used to seeing her in a variety of different looks. This time, she'd blunted her aristocratic features with careful makeup, rounding certain features and down playing others. Her blonde hair was a few shades darker and twisted up rather than in the signature look she usually favored. She was attractive still, but not stunningly so. The most distinctive feature about her was the very, very expensive looking diamond necklace she wore that collared her neck and spilled down to fill her neckline. The dress she wore was a dark navy, again, expensive but unremarkable. Most people would notice the jewelry first and the woman second, and that was very much the point. Still the smile that Talya fixed on Raina was all Talya with just a touch of mischief. "Perfect," she told Raina, holding out a small pale blue jewelry box. The diamond solitaire pendant and earrings inside would complete Raina's look while being suitable for a teenager of her age. "Just one final touch, I think. We're going to a grand gala held by mobsters. I've a favor to do for an old colleague and I rather thought it was time to start exercising your skills in the field. I think you're ready. I've never been a huge fan of Claremont's preferred tactics of ONLY training at the school's controlled environments, personally. There's a bit of chaos in the field that one can only really grow familiar with in the actual field."
  13. Ray grunted as a bullet thudded into his shoulderblade. He wasn't exactly bulletproof, not entirely, but his nature provided protection that a proper mortal would not have enjoyed. "You're robbing banks in Freedom City, I don't know what you expected," Ray groused as he turned around, shifting smoothly from his conjuring to toss flames from his other hand. The tattoos on his skin moved, adjusting to his mood and actions. The flames went wide, likely do to Ray's haste in pivoting once he was being shot at and that they missed did not improve the rogue angel's mood. "Okay, now I'm annoyed." Ray added, letting the flaming wings unfold from his back. "Why don't you assholes sit down and wait for the cops to arrive and save yourself some bruises?"
  14. Ray will switch his array to his blast and try to hit the one that shot him: 13 Pretty sure that;s a miss.
  15. Tough Save: 15 HP for the re-roll: 22
  16. It wasn't entirely uncommon for Raina's training sessions to be unconventional, really. After all, Talya had made her practice running in heels and picking locks. The immortal spy's idea of well rounded skills was, to say the least, unconventional. Still, there was something out of the ordinary for even her training sessions when she arrived to the dojo and was hustled in quickly by a robed Talya. "Excellent, you're here. Just enough time to get changed," she told Raina, shooing her towards the restroom and a gown hanging on the back of a stall and a pair of shoes. "High end society - old money." Talya volunteered with a nod towards the cosmetics before vanishing towards the door to get ready herself although it wouldn't take her long at all. She was well used to the art of the quick change. "And we've just under an hour to be gone before Erik gets back for his evening lessons to make our escape. Never ask permission for what you can apologize for in the morning... Honestly, that's terrible relationship advice. I'm rather lucky that they're quite so indulgent. I'll wait outside the door."

Talya bent over to drape her arms over Erik's shoulders, her chin on the top of his head in a brief embrace before she offered her hands to him. Not that he needed any help kipping up, certainly, but the gesture had less to do with need and more to do with easy affection. "The true lesson is, I'm always right. Honestly, though, I can have it done in a week if I call in a few favors. Not to mention when the children start manifesting whatever random abilities they might have, our insurance premiums alone will sky rocket." She straightened then to turn her attention back to the teenagers, "Indeed, though if you're going to be in a relationship with someone you fight alongside, you'll need all the more practice to know their skills as well as your own. You can't control the concern but it'll be much improved if you already know what they can and can't handle." Talya offered, giving her opinions on the brief lesson before she turned a smile of approval on Raina. "I approve of the control and the use of surprise. Well done. Very well done."
  18. "How is this even real life?" Ray muttered, giving Ace a side long look. Oh, he wasn't disputing Ace's suggestions, and he'd vaguely recognized the man once he started talking. After all, Ray HAD a television, but the angel couldn't honestly tell if the man was posturing or if he really thought people talked like that. Ray released the bag to the crook that was trying to get it before sweeping his hands down as he drew glittering power from his skin to spin it out quickly in a matrix over the bulk of the hostages. He'd not had time to rework his tattoos into something more appropriate so the thick barrier appeared to weave itself out of the thorns and chains that wrapped up one of his arms; the flower buds a faintly glowing gold. There was no real hiding where the barrier came from, after all, Ray's abilities were the opposite of subtle. "Just sit tight, in there... and I wouldn't touch the walls if you could avoid it."
  19. Ray will use his array, switching to 'Creation' to make protection for the hostages out of his magical tattoo array! That's a create object:10 with continuous.
  20. "Of course. Of course this is my afternoon," Ray grumbled, lifting his arms up towards the sky as if he were going to lace his hands behind his head. Like Ace, he was still on his feet since he'd certainly rather present a better target than any slow moving older person... like the one at the front of the line. His gaze flicked over the assembled crowd and then towards the bystanders who at least were huddled together. Some sort of barrier was probably his best bet if things went messy. Fortunately, it was highly unlikely that any of the bank robbers were likely to notices the ink on his skin start to shift as the runes along his spine began to glow. "Is this going to.... you know, take a while? I got a business to get back to." Ray commented idly, nodding towards the door. He lifted the one hand holding his shop's till a little higher. "Can I go first?"
  21. Blargh, I can see I'm going to be rolling aces this thread: 6 I'll post my zero round then.
  22. Ray was oblivious, scowling at the line and the people who stood between him and a nice, quiet afternoon. Bureaucracy was the absolute worst thing that humans had ever invented. Of course, heaven had their own interminable red tape as well but this nonsense of having to deposit the till in a bag in person was pure human foolishness. There were plenty of tattoos for Ace to peruse, although the ink was currently stationary, it never fully hid the enochian sigils that ran down key lines of the angels body. As usual, Ray was wearing what he could get away with in public; a tank top and black pants over his heavy boots. Ray was fixated enough on trying to silently will the octogenarian at the front of the line into moving at least a modicum faster. "I knew I should have paid for the express window," he sighed only to groan when it seemed like there were coins to roll for her. "For the love of..."
  23. LOL my roll was terrible: 9
  24. Talya made a soft noise in her throat, reaching out to lightly touch Min's shoulder in mute support. The gesture was quick and quiet before Talya added aloud, "Well I do want to get some thoughts on Terry's eye as I can't exactly take him to a normal doctor and ask the pediatrician if I ought be concerned about an eye that's white and, frankly, glowing." Her words were deliberately light before she dutifully turned her attention to Dimitri, "Though I suppose I may have also invited the three of you to ensure that Erik has a multitude of people to talk to when he inevitably begins to question his own mortality." Talya's shrug was deliberate and casual as she admitted her machinations without any sort of apology in her tone. Frankly, with her history, that was downright honest even if she'd not run any of that by anyone before hand. "But he won't feel comfortable doing so if he hasn't gotten to know you before hand, hence... coffee and tea. And adorable babies."
  25. Robin glanced up as the other girl crossed over, pausing in tying the bandanna to keep her braids from her face. She offered one hand in return at the gesture, with a firm grip but not overly so although her palms were heavily calloused and her knuckles bore many scars. "Robin," she offered with another of those small smiles. "I can save any mat work until later. I'm mostly here for those." She pointed upwards once she retrieved her hand to the various rings and grips in the gym's ceiling. "Nice to meet you too. I don't think I've seen you around too much."
