She reached out, not to restrain Riley, but to offer a small touch on his arm in mute support. Her own look for Garuda was coolly controlled. She had her temper back well in hand though Robin could only watch Fred struggle for so long. Reaching out slowly she scooped the smaller scientist up with ease. "You're very sturdy and very resilient but even I ended up in the hospital before, 'member?" She added with forced lightness as she lifted Fred up in bridal carry with minimal effort and left the collecting of Fred's belongings to other members of their small band. "Cocoa sounds great all around, I think. Good idea, Raina." With that, and unless there was further complaints or attempts to halt their progress, Robin would see about leading her small, battered team out of the Doom Room, heads held high.

"Oh, Ace," Talya sighed at the immortal adventurer, but she let the lie sit where it lay. Instead she took a few steps over to hug Ace whether he wanted it or not. "Don't be absurdly formal. There's too many years, and too many heartaches under the bridge for that." Pulling back, she cupped Ace's cheeks between her hands, "If you need anything, just call. You won't, but I'll tell you to anyways. And, if you're going to blow out on us, stay perhaps on this world? Paris. Paris is always lovely." Her blue eyes were dark with understanding as she added, "The first decade is always the hardest but just focus on the moment ahead of you. Let us know if there's to be a public funeral - I'll be there. Jack can't - you know - secret identities and all that but I'll find someway to attend: my current confinement can be disguised." Leaning in, Talya gave Ace a kiss on the cheek before retreating towards Erik's side.

"Hey," Robin said as she reached out for his bicep, her voice gentle. It helped as she realized that her boyfriend was nervous too. She might have been able to punch through doors but the scarred hand on his arm was gentle, her grip loose. "We don't have to, you know, do anything you're not comfortable with, y'know. If you wanna turn it off, you can but I don't mind it on." Her smile softened her features. "I like you." She told Riley, before her smile kicked up at the corner lopsidedly. "An' I don't got your night vision."

Volcanic gave a small, slight nod of her head as she took in a breath that she really didn't need. Like relaxing a tense muscle, the elementalist let the heat surge outward turning flesh to red hot magma. Her armor formed as the heated rock met cool air, leaving her comprised of obsidian black plates and still burning magma where the plates cracked apart. The earth below herself and Pax parted, quicker than the last time as it was easier to move a smaller knot of air through the earth; especially as only one of them actually need it. "I won't be able to hear you, so much, but I'll feel the movement." She explained, largely for Pax and Bonfire's benefit. "We'll pop up from the middle once you're in place close by." Leaving Bonfire and Frost alone, the earth swallowed the two women as they moved seamlessly through the ground below. Leilani's hands remained against the front of the bubble, adjusting their trajectory before they ran into any undesirable roadblocks or tunnels.

Freedom League Auxiliary
alderwitch replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in The Lighthouse: Catchphrase!
I dunno if Leilani would work, but I'd be interested in having her work with the FLAux a bit more! -
"Oh. Ohhhh," Robin said, as she caught on to his meaning. She flushed, ducking her head to meet Riley's, "Uhm. Sure. That sounds nice." She winced a little, scrunching her nose up at her own words. Robin cleared her throat and tangled her fingers with Riley's. She was probably never going to be great at talking but Riley was used to that by now. He certainly never seemed to mind. "I do always like rooftops." She agreed, with a small self-concious grin. "An' can't ask for better privacy."

"Let. The boy. GO." Ray's voice echoed into registers that the human voice was not meant to drop into. He stood up from his crouch and pivoted. There were no spells, no incantations, no magic swirling through his tattoos as his fist flew through the air. Angels were not the sort of creatures easily regressed to their primal natures and even for angels, Ray was a creature of civilization; of knowledge and learning. But at his core, he had been made for point and purpose. To protect humanity from things like this. As he struck the Angel of Death, the flaming wings on his back ghosted out, superimposed in multiple as the creature Ray had been flexed against its mortal shell. When his fist struck the creatures back, light rippled out from the impact of Ray's fist. Ray felt that blow echo back up his arm, making even his teeth rattle as his energy collided with its antithesis.

guide gab Freedom League lineup and role
alderwitch replied to Ari's topic in The Lighthouse: Catchphrase!
I think we've decided - correct me if I'm wrong - on the decreased roles for the NPCs and so, we ought check in with the Freedom League Aux to confirm that they all are going to stay on the main team and then see about getting those players to nudge along whatever recruitment threads need to happen for other people to start getting their stories told? -
Sorry, I didn't see the question here but I'm good!

ic A Dark and Spiteful God (IC)

Bombshell lifted a negligent shoulder, expressing no outward concern about being the only member of her 'side' still volunteered for crossing the gate. Kimber, she well knew, was dear to Dimitri and that alone would have been enough to get her reluctant assent to this particular fools errand. Silently, she briefly remembered why she'd once walked on the other side in the first place. Suicidal heroics lost their luster after the first couple of years and after that, it was only grim reluctance and the vague guilt for those left worried at home. "I have no particular allergen to dimensional travel and far more years of espionage experience than any person has a right to. I'll plan to go through the portal with those sentient creatures deciding to venture along this particular foolish endeavor." She drawled, making no bones about her opinion on the necessity of this trip. Brushing her gloved hands together, she went to stand up slowly and gave Kimber a small eye roll at her emphasis. "Enough," she chided gently, and her comments seemed addressed to everyone, "If we're all going to do something fool hardy and stupid together, like brave a lost world, no one ought waste time or energy scoring points. It is very likely that our lives - or at least - our safety will be in each other's hands. If you don't feel you can trust each other enough for that, then its best to stay on this side of the portal. Now, I believe that someone promised me that there would be refreshments?"- 51 replies

Leilani considered the request for a moment before giving a small nod of agreement. Scary, she wasn't too worried about providing, but not accidentally baking these criminals was a higher concern. Dimitri's reassurance helped but she paused to make sure that she had no lingering doubts about managing it. If nothing else, she'd learned that being frightened only exacerbated any issues of control. She wasn't, however, frightened of a knot of criminals shaking down homeless kids for pocket change. "Okay," she agreed with Dimitri before tipping her head to the side. "Though you an' Smokey here, you both can do the smoke and mist thing so, maybe I take Pax with me and we make it seem like she's making the big stuff happen? I mean, you, me and Bonfire, we don't live here but if they think Pax has help she can call on, maybe they listen a bit better?" She gave a tiny shrug of her shoulders, "But I can get under the railroad tracks, no problem. Just tell me what I gotta do."

Robin leaned in to kiss him in response, her lips warm against his skin. She'd been quieter than the teenagers around them but her grey-eyed gaze had sparkled she had happily bounced in time to the music. Robin liked to dance, even if she did so very rarely these days, and the music was fast paced and energetic. Tangling her fingers with Riley's, she laughed as she pulled back, still light on her feet even if the music had died away. "It was great!" Her gaze traveled towards the stage, "It's like... one of those nights you don't want to see end." She paused, the moment awkward before asking hesitantly, "Do you, uhm, have to get back to Peyton's soon?"
-
"You didn't hurt anyone. Well, not badly. Sofia got a bit tossed but she's going to be okay," Robin explained swiftly, as she was well aware that was often the first concern. Her grey eyed gaze slanted over towards the other knot of kids and she couldn't help narrowing them in anger, "Despite some people's efforts to the contrary. Easy. It's okay. We saved Archer - I mean, I think." There was a bit of doubt there as to the weird thing attached to the man's neck but they had gotten him the help needed, with only the delay from being accused by the Next-Gen. She gave Fred's shoulder a gentle squeeze before standing up. It escaped no one that she put herself between her 'team' and the rest of the room as she met the headmistress's gaze head on. "I continued to make the calls after it was clearly not an exercise anymore. I'll answer any questions that you need but if we're going to be in trouble, that should be taken into account." Robin didn't have any parents to call home to. Trouble, in her mind, probably meant expulsion, and a small part of her was surprised at how much that thought hurt. Her gaze went back to Riley. To Fred and Raina. Robin's jaw tightened and she turned to offer her hands to Fred, her voice dropping low as she added in a tone that hopefully wouldn't carry, "I can carry you if you want."

"Would you like me to check for any traces before we begin?" Psyche was soft spoken. The formidable young psychic hadn't made any large entrances, likely counting on her psychic abilities to hide her from the paragon until the time came. Edge went to speak to the troops, the gaze she turned on Triakosia was kind, empathic. Alex had been in the woman's mind and while people could do strange and terrible things, she felt confident enough that this was outside of the young woman's nature to be unlikely in the extreme. "It won't take but a few minutes." She added, offering one gloved hand to the woman. "I think you'll be more comfortable if you know that your mind is still your own before we go in."

Nighthawk didn't exactly understand fully what was going on but she trusted Huang's girlfriend and her companion well enough to nod hurriedly as she went to leap between the threat and their schoolmate. Ouroboros had clearly spit in the bad guy's wheaties, so to speak, and she had every intention in putting herself between any blows he might level in the young magus' direction. No one was more surprised than Robin when the warmth of the sun's rays surrounded her, giving her already prodigious leap additional depth. She landed with even more liquid grace than usual. Her snarl showed of teeth that might have been a touch too sharp as her curls took on a distinctly mane like cast. She didn't have time to worry about her clothes bleaching to white and gold or the bangles that studded them with Sekhmet's mark. Instead she surged forward, slashing upward with the gold tipped claws that burned with the sun's warmth. "Don't touch him. Don't touch them." Robin's growl was lower than usual, "No further."

Talya covered Erik's hands with her own; a domestic gesture that very few people would have been allowed to see. More than anything else, it telegraphed the level of her trust with Comrade Frost. The smile on her features was one of the rare ones normally reserved for when she was hidden away at home. She laughed at Dimitri's comment about 'interest' in Erik. "I keep teasing him that his family must have some fertility charm worked on their line." Talya commented with a chuckle, "But while our third might be more than happy for descendants to be spread far and wide, I think four might be about his limit for genetic contributions." Her red lipped smile turned teasing for Erik briefly before she slanted her gaze up towards Dimitri once more, "As to judgement, I know, dear one. You have only ever been my stalwart supporter. Still, it was not something one would talk about in our youth. Your respect; it matters. When I started to let anyone know, I would have started with you." Talya dropped her gaze down to the hand on her stomach. It was still such a new thing. Talya was very good at keeping up with the times but months did not have the same sort of weight they once did as her life stretched on. With her free hand she touched Erik's cheek then, running her thumb along the edge of his mask in a subtle, tender gesture. "I'm sorry, my dear, though I have little doubt you'll pick up the language in short order."

"Its always children if there are boogeymen rumors," Ray said simply and for a moment, his bright blue eyes looked sad and impossibly old in his relatively youthful features. Rubbing his hand over the stubble of his jaw, the blonde angel sighed and discarded the remains of his food in the trash can as the other two men collected themselves. "But it hasn't gone to injury. Yet." Digging in the pocket of his jeans, Ray pulled out some folded paper with obvious care. "This is from a church that a volunteer at," he explained simply as he held out first one drawing that would have looked in place in a scary movie. Sad faces in rough childish scribble and shadows in the background. "And this one's from another place I work; a mosque." Similar figure in a different child's hand. "Two in the same week is enough coincidence to make me do a little bit of digging. That little bit of digging is enough to come pester you before things get worse."

So, I think for Nighthawk's action, she's going to put herself between Huang and the bad guy since he's pretty clearly vulnerable and focus on drawing the attention, so, Move Action: Leap on bad guy's face? Combat Action: Attack with shiny new Claws: 15 If that's not enough to hit, I'll use an HP?

ic A Dark and Spiteful God (IC)
alderwitch replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in The Realms Beyond
Bombshell sighed and it wasn't an affectation. "If we're going to trickle in one at a time, then I should go first, really." She pointed out without preamble. "That said, I think if we are to go in at all, it's best done swiftly and as a coordinated group from the start. Time seems to be of the essence as who knows how long the world will remain remotely stable. That said, there's got to be something more than a survivor's distress at stake." Behind her mask, Talya was regal and coolly composed and although her relaxed posture didn't betray it, bleakness flickered through her blue eyed gaze briefly as she fixed the look on the man who'd gathered them here today. "You wouldn't be willing to risk two of the only people with an insider's knowledge of the Terminus for an act of mercy. There's information that's wanted, information that could point to either the salvation or the damnation of this world. There's nothing else that would warrant punching holes from this dimension to one already falling fast." Bombshell was briefly grateful that it was she who Steve had brought from the team; it could have been Erik, after all. He was a good man, someone who'd struggle with walking away from any potential innocent. Oh, let's be honest, he'd have leapt in, sword blazing. Talya, however, was not that sort of hero. "So what do you need and who has to go, really, is the question?"- 51 replies

"Within expectations and utterly adequate is the highest praise we generally get in a scenario," Nighthawk said simply, utterly honest as she finished un-tapping her hands and went to tuck the bindings away. Flexing her fingers once or twice to get the feeling back into them. It might have bothered the stalwart Fens native but she'd long ago learned to keep that from her features. She clapped Nevermore's shoulder once with a small shrug, "Can always try to bring it up with the head mistress." She tried to offer encouragement, even if Robin didn't have much hope of the young man being heard. Turning back towards Riley, she added. "I got a few ideas we can work on for that kind of split level fighting for next time."

Leilani stared only very briefly at Indira's natural form before giving a shake of her head to redirect her attention. She gave Dimitri a little wave before heading back into the surf with her board. The young woman was clearly in her element, for once, and happily so. The Atlantic might be a different creature than her familiar waters back home, but far less changed from ocean to ocean than all her many, other changes. Straddling the board, she bobbed in the waves to watch Kimo's far better instruction. Leilani was not the most patient of creatures and she could easily admit that her easy-going nephew made a better teacher than she likely ever would. "You don't want more'n one rider per wave - it's not safe. You gotta go with the wave and it risks some nasty collisions. Etiquette says if you see someone going for a wave, you wait for the next good one." Leilani explained with a brief smile, offering the information in case the surfing bug bit Daphne. "You go on next. Just like Kimo do it."

My plan for this one is really people who use magic and undead certainly wouldn't be a barrier. I'd be happy to also host a monster's ball sort of things for those that are just plain supernatural too if there was also interest in that!
