"Oh, I'm not going to miss Kimo's waves," Leilani promised with easy laughter. Like some of the other ladies, Leilani had a sarong tied around her hips, over the brightly colored tankini she'd changed into after work. "'Sides, easiest way to teach is to demonstrate. At least for me. You gonna be okay here if I start coaxing folks towards the water. Don't want Aquaria to get too much a head start on the swimming." She turned slightly, catching Jessie moving a little closer towards the fire and offered her a friendly smile, "Gonna try to get folks into the waves. Got a few boards already prepped here. Kimber, Eve... Daphne?" Turning back towards Kimo and Dimitri, she added as Kimo started up the grill, "Long as you can multitask, feel free to fire it up."

Leilani sighed heavily as the girl collapsed, rolling her eyes heavenward at the rapid shift in moods. My mother must be laughing herself sick right now. Karma and then some. Giving Dimitri a faintly apologetic shrug in return at the scene he returned to. Leilani didn't feel guilt, so much, as she stood by her statements but she was well aware her temper didn't exactly help. She had nothing but sympathy for someone who had a lot of rage and grief, clearly, but not so much when that resulted in outbursts that could hurt innocent bystanders. "I'm Leilani, that's Dimitri," she added to Bonfire absently, "Or, Volcanic and Comrade Frost if you prefer." Taking a few steps away and into the street, Leilani let the flame inside her rise up. Flesh turned molten and upon contact with the air, hardened into shiny, black obsidian with only the cracks of her joints glowing red hot, as she added as if the young woman weren't a hairsbreath from hysterical, "Thanks for dropping the bat. You got quite a right hook there, kid."

"You'll want to return this to him next time you see the man," Talya commented from where she was standing by the railing still. Pulling out the book, from who knows where, she flipped it through the air at Ace. "Or not. Really, your choice. I think he thinks you're actually dead-dead, truth be told, despite our assurances to the contrary." Talya did not volunteer that she'd stolen it. That, after all, was a given. "I have a letter from your family which I'm not sure I'm giving to you, for the record. Your family communicates terribly and this is really no exception." Which meant that at some point Talya had paused to read the 'private letter' from Ace's father. She'd known the family a rather long time and held little love for the patriarch. "He's dying, Ace. For real, for good, and I don't think there's much time left. You're one of my oldest friends which is why I hope you understand that I will absolutely and sincerely let Dimitri and Erik drag you to see your father before its too late. I think it would be best, though, if you went of your own accord." She tipped her head to the side, her voice surprisingly gentle despite the content of her words, as she volunteered Dimitri and Erik for possible physical altercations. "You know I'm doing it for you, not for him."

"The hell you say?" Leilani's chin tipped up, her eyes flashing for a moment. The heat spiked only momentarily around the elemental and she propped her hands on her hips, ratcheting her temper - and the threatening flames - back under her control. She gestured towards Frost's retreating back with one abrupt movement, "That man there an' the League with him, they showed up when I went all fire and eruption on a beach - in Hawaii. It didn't even make the news here. No, of course it didn't. They probably kept about a hundred tourists from getting burned to a crisp - and me from being a murderer but, yeah, they do it for the glory. It's a whole lotta glory there. And that was one hour - one - of one day." She frowned, shaking her head angrily, "Super powers don't mean they can make the world perfect and you think that cuz they got em that they don't got problems too? They do a hell of a lot to help and even though you committed, like, what - two, three crimes? - He gonna go pay for the window and probably still help you with your problems to boot. You ungrateful. Put that down, sit your butt down and you wait right there." Volcanic tsked once, shaking her head disapprovingly, "And watch your language."

"Can we never make it through a portal without things going horrifically wrong?" Talya said as she stumbled into Min with their abrupt exit from the portal. Not even the ex-spy's polish and poise could entirely quash the panic and legitimate pain rounding her normally crisp words. She gave a small shiver as the temperature started to drop but didn't complain about the temperature, nor the precautions. Frankly, Talya was fighting hysteria and she was never, ever hysterical. She wasn't about to be now despite the universe conspiring against her. "This place is dreadful and their decor is tacky. Moldy castle is so very fourteenth century," She tipped her head up towards the air, "Skylight's a nice touch, I suppose." Whatever other snark she had was cut off with a hissed breath as she put her hands on her belly for several long moments. The pain was getting to be a truly legitimate sort of pain and Talya had been decapitated before. When she could inhale, Talya hesitated over her word choice, "I don't mean to hurry anyone, but...."

"I'm glad you could make it," Leilani told Eve as Kimo began to make his introductions to the other party-goers. "Gonna be a nice laid-back sorta night, I think. Can I get you anything?" She added in question to the psychic before a familiar, thickly accented English caught her attention. "Dimitri," Leilani turned towards the out of uniform Comrade with a laugh, "That is such a shirt," she complimented, "Kimo take you shopping?" She teased as she took a step forward to relieve him of his cooler before it could freeze entirely solid. She gave his cheek a quick kiss. Lowering her voice so as not to point out the ghost's discomfort with the bonfire. "Think Kimber might appreciate if you stood between her and the bonfire. Don't worry about taking it down too much. We got plenty of wood." Not to mention the volcanic elemental that was more than happy to coax it back to temperature with an occasional spare thought. Her smile was bright, "Well, I wasn't imprisoned, really - but it feels real good to not be a drain on everyone's time and resources now."

Like Talya doesn't have innate on her slow-fall with the training descriptor but it could be a recent ruling that I've missed! -

Well, last I heard when I was making Robin that you could justify innate for training powers but they can still be nullified if you don't with nullify training but if I need to adjust it I can! -
Talya stumbled out onto the deck of her ship, the grip on Erik's belt a stabilizing her from an ignominious fall as her heel caught between things better left unexamined on the deck. "No more magic portals until after the babies are born," Talya complained as she released Erik's belt to lean on the railing, with the borrowed coat still around her shoulders. Glancing over at Erik, she realized that he was still sans shirt and while she had no complaints about the view, loitering around Dimiri's magic with nothing but boots and breeches couldn't be too comfortable. Reaching up to pull the coat from her shoulders, she held it out with a ghost of her usual stunning smile, "You dropped this." Her hand went back to the railing once it was free and she turned that blue-eyed gaze on two men that might as well have been brothers, if not of blood. She pointed one finger at Dimitri, "No more age jokes about this spouse," she said firmly, gesturing between Ace and Dimitri, "I have years of ammunition on you both. Years. I'm sure you have other things to spar over verbally for the next several decades without it."

The smile that Robin gave Fred held appreciation if no real joy. "I know," Robin said simply, "Thanks." The word was short, clipped but heartfelt. It mattered that Fred and Riley cared about the misuse of Robin and Raina's parents. There weren't a large number of people in the world who did, or would even recognize them, so to have real friends care... well, it mattered. Still, there wasn't much time to waste in dealing with whatever threat Archer presented. He made a malevolent figure, not moving or even really blinking from what little Robin could make out. Robin took the line with a nod of thanks, wrapping it around her fists and bracing one foot against the furrow of metal that she'd already yanked up. With her full strength, Robin braced and gave a hard yank on the line. The glass creaked once, bowing before shattering outward under the pressure of the teenager's full strength applied on the line.

Leilani accepted the hugs that she was offered, and provided warm greetings to all the assorted heroes as they arrived, turning a sunny smile on Eve when the leader of the DuTemps group showed up with others in tow. "Well, we don't think its got anything to do with the family but its hard to say. Be an odd coincidence if it didn't, I suppose." She offered to Tarva with a small shrug of her shoulders. "Gonna light the bonfire," she added to Kimber as she was polite enough to warn the ghost who wasn't overly fond of flames before it started up. The Deep One drew a small blink from Leilani as the features - and nudity - were unfamiliar but not entirely unexpected. "Nice to meet you, Aquaria, Jessie. We got boards if you wanna try the surf. Lemme just get the fire started." That said, she turned back towards the stacked wood and stretched her fingers out towards it. With a flick of her wrist, and a new found ease, the wood burst into cheerful flame, curling around Leilani's wrists and hands almost affectionately before she withdrew them. "We got all sorts of food, snacks and surf. Just need a bit of entertainment to make a proper party now."

"Thank you, Steve, you're a dear," Talya said with genuine appreciation before gritting her teeth through another contraction. They were hard and coming faster and they bloody well hurt. Talya switched her grip to Erik's arm and with some palpable reluctance shuffled her way through the portal. Shuffle. Talya had never shuffled before in her life. Glaring down towards her feet as if they were responsible for yet another indignity before she turned her displeased gaze back onto the glowing portal. "This is awful and I'm never doing this, ever again." She fixed Erik with a glare and added, "Ever." As if he were the one most likely to want more children. Really, she should have directed that in the dryad's direction but Talya wasn't at her most rational at the moment - and Min was behind her rather than a convenient target at her side. Still, despite her grouching, she leaned into the arm he provided to make her way through the portal. It was as normal as traveling through Stesha's flowers ever could be, but once the Espadas passed through, with Dimitiri, the once vibrant flower began to decay rapidly before those left on the other side. It had to be potent energy indeed to decay Stesha's transport, withering the flower and causing the portal to turn sickly and gray before snapping shut abruptly. For those within, the vibrant green glow of transport was shot through with threads of angry, malevolent red veins, twisting the path abrutply away from their destination and deposting them with painful abruptness in barren fields of some place unknown.

"Do not," Phantom turned the glowing gaze that had made far greater beings than one lowly landlord tremble on the man. She shifted the boy up in her arms, the gesture soothing even as she floated up to get a slightly better vantage point. "What did you murder, Harry Smilac? I have no doubt that you wrongfully evicted the boy and his family and I am out of both time and patience. I suggest that you provide the information I request the easy way." Her gaze narrowed below the dark cowl, her voice rumbling low, "You will not enjoy the other methods at my disposal. They are as thorough as they are unpleasant." It might be less than politic to threaten the citizens of Freedom City but it was often expedient. Jack really had been a terrible influence.

"Sure, sure," Leilani agreed distractedly with the smoke-headed super hero, her attention split between that and the conversation going on between Dimitri and the young rebel. Glancing around at the scene, and the reasonably distressed by-standers, Leilani pinched the bridge of her nose. This was really not what she'd pictured for super-hero work. "Kid," she said, a touch of impatience in her tone, "I got nothing but sympathy for someone who's got some impulse control issues and a bit of a lack of forethought but just lower the bat and chill, okay? If he was gonna take you down, he'd have done it already. You got a town here thick with people who give a damn and you got one, clearly, standing right in front of you. Why don't you just tell him your troubles and we can all move along outta the street and away from people who are..." Leilani paused, "Who are starting to take cell phone videos? What's wrong with you?" She scolded one bystander who had decided it was worth capturing the micro-drama on his cell phone. "Not everything needs to be recorded on a video phone!"

Volcanic frowned, more concerned with the fact that the family looked perilously close to tipping themselves over the edge of the boat in their fervor than whatever it was that they wanted. As she was airborne already, Volcanic glided closer on the flames she rode to hopefully put an end to the eager shouting. "I dunno what you want but you gonna fall in the water, you keep leaning," she warned as she slid to a comfortable conversation range but keeping her flames away from arm's reach. Leilani eyed the banners with some concern. She'd been a young woman in the very early sixties so there was something familiar about the new-age-y-ness of the whole affair but it made her uncomfortable. Even with all the white and gold, it felt a little... cult-ish. "You folks at capacity or got some room to ferry those folks to shore so we can move the boat outta the river?"

L0vel@ce / Sofí Orellana Power Level: 8/12 (180/187PP) Unspent Power Points: 7 Trade-Offs: Attack / Damage, Defense / Toughness In Brief: Brilliant cyber-criminal, sticking it to the corrupt and cruel Catchphrase: Theme: Daft Punk (Pentatonix Cover) Alternate Identity: Sofía Orellana, aka L0vel@ce Birthplace: Hardwick Park, Bedlam City Residence: Bedlam City Base of Operations: Bedlam City Occupation: Hacker Affiliations: The Fix Family: Extended and large, Sofí's parents own their small garage in Hardwick Park and she has grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins that are all local to the area, keeping her close to Bedlam even as she keeps quiet what she spends her spare time doing. Description: Age: 27 Apparent Age: 27 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Latina Height: 5'2" Weight: 120 lbs Eyes: Brown, if she's not wearing contacts to change it. Hair: Naturally, dark brown but its rarely the same color for any week in a row. Typically, her long curly hair is dyed in some rainbow of colors. Pink usually factors in over blues and greens but she's been known to regularly switch that up. It's very thick, naturally curly and long enough to reach her hips when dry. It's a bit of a pain in the butt to take care of but it's something of a vanity. Short and curvy, Sofía Orellana is not the most intimidating of figures at first glance, or even second glance. Give the woman even the most rudimentary of tools, though, and she will happily reign cyber destruction like a sweet-faced, vengeful god. She likes to keep her laptop close at hand, so a shoulder bag with a small horde of colorful pins is never too far from her fingertips. Her clothing tends towards practical and fun unless she's currently working on a car, at which point, she's wearing coveralls with her hair tucked tightly under a cap. Build wise, Sofía has some toned muscle under her curves. Girl doesn't slack on the working out just cuz she's a top-tier geek. History: Hardwick Park is not a nice place to grow up but its the only place that Sofía has ever called home. Her large family moved into the area with the influx of the other hispanic families as the neighborhood changed hands. Her parents weren't ever well off by the national metric, but her father owns his garage and takes a great deal of pride in that. Sofía grew up around cars and had a natural knack for fixing things, but her brothers were largely recruited into the mechanic's shop, and her sisters seemed content to staff the front of the shop part time. For her part, Sofía found her calling in fixing up the technology that was always third hand and breaking down around the shop. Without doubt, she's a genius but the public schools around Hardwick aren't exactly designed to help anyone find a way out of Bedlam. She was often bored in classes but while that got some of her cousins and siblings into trouble, Sofía avoided falling in with the local gang, but only because she realized that when money's largely electronic, its pretty easy to move around a few zeroes if you have the means and the know how. Despite her strong feelings on the public right to information and the unfairness of the financial distribution of this country, Sofí has no desire to see people suffer. She'd go full Robin Hood, really, if she wasn't well aware that most of her family, more money would really mean more problems. So, she fixes things, here and there, makes sure that there's enough windfall to keep her large extended family afloat without tipping her hand to her resources, or her skills. About half of her cousins are involved in petty crimes so she's not real eager to help them scale up to the sort of things that get a body killed. Personality & Motivation: Sofí's life choices are about three parts genius to one part stubborn pride. She knows she's very good at what she does, and there's some ego wrapped up in that. Despite her technically criminal endeavors, she's not actually a bad person. Her targets are those that have more than enough, or, in her estimation, don't deserve their good fortune. If the system is inherently broken, then its only fair to change the game. The entire world is full blown Kobayashi Maru in Sofí's book and all she's doing is finding the win. Honestly, Sofí could have left this two-bit town a long time ago but she's a fiercely loyal creature and family is important to her, even if she feels like none of them really even understand or even see her for who she actually is. So, Bedlam remains her home and in-between her cyber-antics, she tries to keep her kin from getting too deep into the trouble that winds its way throughout Bedlam. Powers & Tactics: Sofí is human but can hardly be called normal. Brilliant, she can make technology do all sorts of things that look like something out of an action movie. She has a few small electronic devices that are easily pocketable and function as a small bag of tricks that allow her not only to hack all sorts of electronics, but go above and beyond. Her Multi-Tool represents a few different palm sized items that are easily carried, from a cutting torch that's no bigger than a pocket flash light to the scanning and recording devices that she's installed in her phone. Physically, Sofí works out regularly and trains at the gym in both kickboxing and free-running. If it comes to hand-to hand fighting, she's going to do her best to break and run. She's not a close-in fighter - or really any sort of fighter at all - but she's better off if she can get some distance and use something as a distraction to get away. Power Descriptions: Sofí has no actual powers, at least nothing flashy or noticeable. She's not any sort of meta-human, but she functions at peak human intelligence and has mastered multiple fields through self guided study. There's nothing super natural or magical about it, but its certainly outside of any sort of normal bell curve. The super senses that she does have are to represent her intelligence and what she can glean via her computer skills, as well as Quickness to demonstrate the speed she functions at. I should note that she doesn't possess any supernatural speed and that the Quickness is there to mechanically represent that through her intellect, she can invent devices, build objects and get things done at an astonishing pace. Complications: Mi Familia: Sofía's large and extended family makes their home in Hardwick park so not only does she have to keep them out of her business and what she actually gets up to, she also occasionally has to try and keep tabs on their activities and try to buffer them from the many dangers in Bedlam... without any of them catching onto her antics. Robin Hood: Her morals generally align to righting the unfairness of the social order, a little bit of anarchy and issues with authority combined with the certainty of her own course of actions. She has a code of ethics that dictates her actions. Hack the Planet: Information should be free, if you ask her, and she's both willing and able to put her money where her mouth is on this subject. Her tendency to dump secrets out in the open has made her plenty of enemies, if they could track her down through her aliases. Wanted: L0vel@ce's antics are not legal by a large stretch and if connected back to her actual identity, could cause Sofí to end up in jail, or dead. Lover not a Fighter: Sofí is more used to video games than actual bloodshed, any combat she's been in has been the result of a serious error along the way. She's not going to act like a hardened combat veteran because she's just not that experienced with it. CN: Date: Late July, 2016 Location: The Beach, Port Regal The Atlantic might be colder than the sea that Leilani had grown up loving, but the waves held a familiar rhythm and even if the sand was darker, the beach more rocky, working it with Kimo held a certain strange familiarity. It wasn't home - not quite - but it wasn't utterly foreign either. Which, perhaps, made it an appropriate place for a not-quite impromptu celebration of sorts. At least, with having begun to shift her things out of the League headquarters and into the Dutemps building, Leilani had accepted and acknowledged that while her powers remained concerning, they weren't actually out of her control. Her good-natured nephew (Leilani couldn't call him her great-nephew still with a straight face) had been all for an evening of surfing and beach barbecue, not to mention meeting more of the super-hero community and the off-hand invitation had been extended towards the rest of those calling the castle home. Leilani had traded her life-guard swimsuit for an off duty alternate. With a sarong knotted around her waist, she set about setting up the wood with the intent of setting up a proper bon-fire, pausing to wave over the guests she recognized when they arrived. "Kimo, watch yourself, yeah? Gonna put up some bumpers," she paused in her building of the small wood tower to gesture, mounding up the sand and rock to form larger banks to provide at least a little bit of visual privacy from the rest of the stretch of the beach. "Remind me to put that back afterwards." Leilani added in a mutter as she returned her attention to stacking wood.
-
Leilani's gaze dropped to the table for a moment at the mention of parents, the loss still raw enough to sting but grief didn't stir her abilities the way other emotions did and when she glanced up again, it was with dry eyes. Really, it would have been better if she cried more. The loss was not on the young Hawaiian was dealing with as she remained firmly entrenched in denial. It hurt less, she reasoned, if she didn't rip the bandage off after all. At least the memories remained if she didn't replace them with a new version of her family - one sixty years down a road she'd not taken. At least, that was the theory. "Gotta wonder how eloquent you are in the language you grew up speaking, yeah, Dimitri?" Leilani's smile returned then, "You do better with a second language than I do - you and Klara both, really. Though, this your second language or further on down the road than that?" Leilani had deflected back with another question, clearly more interested in inviting the Russian Amazon to share than offering more insight than she'd already had. Other people's lives were safer topics, Leilani figured, less fraught with things that might set off her temper and the resultant issues.

Volcanic let her more affable erstwhile partner deal with calming the crew's fears. Surfing through the sky on flames, she double checked that they'd fully routed the odd under-dwellers before turning her attention to the chasm and the rock that the boat was sitting on. "Might bounce a bit, going to shore up your perch, there, Captain," she offered the brief warning before her hands began to trace shapes in the air. She'd found that it was easier to shape the rock when she treated it like an extension of herself. Her hand flowed upwards smoothly, and the rock below the ship matched to gently cradle the hull and ensure that it wouldn't sink or slip with only minor rocking of the lopsided boat. Turning slowly as if she were taking the non-existent wave backside, her other hand came up and clenched into one fist, slamming the chasm that the Magmin had used shut behind them. "There we go." Only with that accomplished did she turn her head as well to notice the approaching boat from her vantage point. "Huh."

"Good work," Robin told Raina and Merlin, her voice still tight and tense as the simulation crumbled. She didn't answer the question as she was indeed, not alright, but not of the sort that was going to slow them down. She gave Fred's shoulder a light squeeze of mute approval once she joined the knot of teenagers. Robin well knew that reining in the Alkahest was no easy task for the alchemist, but she'd had faith in Fred to pull it off regardless. Her tension was palpable as she took a step in front of the rest of her team, blocking the line from the window to her more fragile teammates with her body. "Cracked the window, Riley, if you hit it with your grapple-line, bet we can yank it out." Robin squinted up at her handiwork, "Let's see what's up there and then... we'll go from there."
-
"Maybe?" Leilani said hesitantly as she glanced down around at the pavement. Her understanding of her powers was more instinctive than much else but it seemed like something she really ought to be able to do. Pausing, and feeling a little foolish, she reached down to slip off her sandals so her bare feet were on the pavement. Closing her eyes, Leilani tried to blot out the noise and sight of the street and just focus on what she could feel. Tarrant had suggested that in order to move the earth, she had to be nascently aware of it, but Leilani hadn't actually tried to hone that - not burning people had seemed higher priority. As the earth shivered, Leilani realized she could actually feel the ground beneath her feet, the disturbances below where pipes and sewers cut channels through the ground and then below that... "There's, well, something making tunnels. Big ones, twice as big as a person or so?" Leilani said slowly, taking a few steps as she tried to get a better sense of distance and scale, "One's gonna come up, I think... over there!" She pointed through the crowd, relief and perhaps even a bit of pride in having sussed out the answer upon request.
