  1. Talya smoothly shifted to sympathy mode, "Illusionist," she provided without missing a beat as Steve was too busy to offer things like honesty. "Bending perceptions and terrifying people with some hired thugs. Fortunately Caradoc and I were able to deal with the rabble - he's gone to chase after the mastermind but I'm happy to answer whatever questions you might have," Talya added, with just the right touch of nuanced concern. She kept eye contact, only glancing to make certain that Steve had dropped his armor when the movement looked natural. She blinked once and then shifted to further obscure whatever-the-hell was going on behind her. Spreading her hands artlessly wide in a way that would catch more eyes, Talya added glibly, "Although there isn't much that I can tell you. I'm certain my teammate is already relaying the details to the rest of the Interceptors. Is there anything more I can do to help, officer?"
  2. Taylor's nose scrunched up once at the mention of the Greek goddess, "Pulse not necessarily required with Divine," she commented, her humor dry but at least it was there. After five years of marriage, she was more secure with Jack than she'd once been. Giving a short, sharp shake of her head, Taylor dismissed the matter and moved onto the more pertinent matters at hand. Her dimples flashed in her cheeks as she added with a small grin, "You are vastly mis-remembering how easy it felt at the time. By orders of magnitude." Her smile fell away and she shrugged, tucking her hands into her jean pockets although Taylor long ago had stopped feeling things like cold. "I am pretty sure finding an equal footing with someone means not making a bunch of decisions on their behalf. You shouldn't fire her, no, that's really not any better. I think you probably want to talk to her and lay out the issues as you see them." Taylor shrugged slightly before adding, "But what do I know, I jumped in blind and that worked out despite everything. I do know that back when Jack and I were having the rough patch, the only reason we came out the other side is we started finding a balance when the world wasn't ending - in those rare few moments. Now, of course, we have a teenager to keep us on our toes."
  3. "Seriously?" Talya wanted to know, as she twisted from where she'd been watching the clones fly off - but Steve was already striding away. "Seriously!?" The thief wanted to know as she looked down at the half the costume she'd been wearing to work out in and then around at the carnage. "If I get arrested, you're the one that gets to explain why I'm late to dinner!" Talya called after the Omega Drone, throwing her hands up in the air as she scowled at the scene. Historically, her silver tongue only went so far with Freedom's Finest. As she tried to find a politic way to explain why a former felon just had to help an OmegaDrone beat up some police officers, she sent another mystified frown in Steve's direction adding in what was distinctly an aggravated grumble, "At least bloody well de-armor before someone thinks there's another invasion." She turned towards the first responders with her most polished and charming smile, "Everything's well in hand, gentlemen - ladies - if you'll just allow me to explain..."
  4. "I'll write you a note," Phantom said in dry, sepulchral tones as she took in the girl's spell casting with an approving expression. Infernal magic, after all, had its uses. The Chosen of Heshem tightened her gloved hand into a fist, summoning crackling white energy that burned bright and sent it towards the captive man with an electric sizzle and the scent of ozone in the air. Although the dark robed woman was clearly using magic of some stripe, she made no arcane gestures or called out incantations, seeming to focus the magic with her very force of will. When the bolt did no more than sizzle the man's clothes, a scowl darkened Phantom's face behind her hood as she cast her hands out towards the size - clearly reaching for bigger guns, mystically speaking.
  5. Psyche wasn't known for her speeches - she was generally, after all, on a team with Edge whose rallying battle cries was, quiet literally, a finely honed weapon. The sorrow for the protester's emotions faded from her expressive features, leaving something far cooler than rage and more implacable than fury. It was easy to assume that the generally sunny psychic was above the more negative emotions but the fact of the matter was Alex felt emotions, they were just very, very well controlled. The needless death drew her attention in the midst of the chaos and she focused. A small line creased her brow as she focused her formidable will into a razor sharp lance... only to have it bent out of the way, not unlike a diverted stream. It wasn't psychic resistance - Alex had encountered other formidable minds before. This was different. New. "You have no idea what I want - who I am." Alex said from where she floated above the chaos. She spread her hands wide at her sides and along the street, cars began to rise into the air. As a large cement truck turned over to cast its shadow over the crowd scattering, Alex added in a low voice, "-What I am. If you think that I'm going to let you hurt another person, you have vastly miss-planned your battle today."
  6. Actually, I will immediately use that HP to surge and pick up a truck because it makes a good description in the post!
  7. Alex will continue to float but switch her array to her Psychic blast which is a Perception based Will Save of 22. Since he's got his stupid Magneto helmet though, I will take my HP As Alex did not know that was a thing.
  8. Alex threaded her hand through Mike's arm, measuring her stride to his. "That would be lovely," Alex agreed with undiminished enthusiasm, a bright smile lighting her features. With her free hand, she gestured animatedly as she discussed the highlights of the show in glowing terms with the usher as they made their way down. Although she could manage professional and polished when needed, she felt no need to dampen her enthusiasm for public perceptions. "I especially enjoyed the blocking. It's been a long time since I've seen the live show, I admit, but I think this was every bit as engaging as ten years ago." Her heels clicked softly on the floor, the little skip in her step that Mike knew meant she was resisting the urge to float rather than walk.
  9. Phantom will use her Eldritch Blast 1d20+12 = 23 If that hits its a DC31 TOU Save
  10. Robin silently pulled the crumpled flier out of her pocket and thrust it out. The tension in her body fit the persona she was presenting but it had less to do with fear of the setting and far more to do with impatience. She had no doubt that Woodsman was keeping tabs on her, even if Robin lacked the ability to perceive where the men were. She took a seat and filled it out quickly with false information, her pen scratching on the paper as she added, "Is this gonna take long? I, uh, got stuff I gotta do tonight." Robin added, easily insinuating that the money was probably for drugs or worse. She thrust the filled out form back to the woman and cast her gaze towards the bulletproof glass once more.
  11. Taylor blinked once, confusion and surprise on her feature although both quickly faded to alarm as Lynn started to wind up. Taylor, despite herself, seemed to ever be at ground zero for other people's emotions. She fluttered her hands uncertainly, "Oh, well, I.. uhm... Am I really the best person to ask about this? Okay. Okay. Hmm." Taylor frowned, stilling her hands with the nervous gesture of fiddling with the amulet at her throat. "Uh, I am almost positive that 'weird mom feelings' and 'potential romance excitement' have zero overlap so, I would say no. They're not anything maternal." Taylor said, the frown between her brows deepening, "But, I mean, you're both her real-world boss and her super-hero mentor and it seems like if you were going to do something, uh, more, then you should probably let her have her own identity as a super hero and not be reliant on you for her income? Because that'll make it weird. Also, probably super unhealthy."
  12. Bombshell's look of wide-eyed innocence was at least partly feigned, although she truly hadn't heard most of the details. Still, she had long ago learned that it was almost always best to claim ignorance and see what information was volunteered. Even with trusted friends, that wasn't always the easiest habit to break. Plus, she was content to play audience to the show Frost was putting on. "Mmm," Talya agreed in the silence as she cocked her blonde head to one side, "For a nigh-immortal, Kantor was often impatient in those days. I, personally, preferred that to the long game. I'd really rather spend the next few centuries enjoying myself rather than having to go stomp on his agents every few years. I mean, it is enjoyable certainly but sometimes one would rather picnic without the ants, you know?" Nothing in Talya's voice or manner gave away any genuine emotion towards the man that had slaughtered the majority of their team over half a century ago. She turned her head to the side and then added, her tone slightly chiding, "For some women, there weren't many choices besides bedding down with demons... willing participant, though, one assumes?"
  13. WILL'D BY HGM Nighthawk Add 4 to her Will Save for a total of +9 including her wisdom bonus and buy the feat Ultimate Save (Will) Thanks!
  14. Talya cast a quizzical glance to Erik at his groan only to turn distressingly pale as she caught the reference. "Oh, no. No, no, no," she told Erik in a tone that certainly made it sound that she both blamed him, and expected some sort of solution. After giving the squirming teenager a look of betrayed disbelief, she rallied - at least - relatively quickly. "Stretching is a good idea for all of you. Come on in once you've gotten things put away and we'll see what Erik has in store," Talya finally managed in clipped, cultured tones, turning to the students. The smile she aimed at Anibal and Sarah, in contrast with her brief displeasure, was warm and friendly, "I think you'll find the day enjoyable - although likely tiring. We usually find someway to keep things interesting, don't we, Raina?" She pivoted to lead the way into the large open space with perhaps more flair that was strictly necessary.
  15. As the attention turned to the most obvious threats, any eyes still on the limber thief would see her fade from view only to reappear behind the clone that Harrier had failed to drop. Her baton twirled in one bare hand and snapped forward, punching the unsuspecting clone in the back of the cranium still standing over the Omega Drone. Sucker punch? Absolutely, but Bombshell had long ago learned that fair fights were really nothing of the sort. If you told me this morning, I'd be clobbering a Kantor-lookalike from wailing on an Omega Drone in armor.... Well, I suppose there have been stranger mornings. "Well, if the nuts-and-bolts monstrosity isn't actually on our side, it's clearly your duty to wrestle him - her - it. I didn't have time to grab the anti-tank arsenal."
  16. Robin nodded her head in mute agreement, agitation in the lines of her body. The mounting tension to find whoever was hurting her people had gnawed at her the entire short drive. "Just gonna punch in the code. I'll hold the door." She said, the words sharp and short. Nighthawk slid off the bike, setting her helmet on the back as she headed for the door on silent feet. She didn't bother fishing the flier out of her pocket as she punched in the code and waited with ill concealed impatience. Her disappointment as the door clicked open without a face to punch was palpable before she let herself into the receptionist space, her grey-eyed gaze cutting around quickly before landing on the receptionist. "Got a flyer." Robin said as she mentally gauged how strong the bullet proof glass might be. "Said I could get a hundred bucks?" She added, not having to feign suspicion at that.
  17. Bombshell Move Action: Activate Concealment Standard Action: Power Attack with Batons: http://orokos.com/roll/367911 : 22 If that hits, its a DC29 TOU Save
  18. "Probably," Alex agreed as she settled into her chair, leaning comfortably into Mike's side as the show started and the lights dimmed. Like her fiance, Alex's posture was relaxed not only because the evening was, in fact, a very pleasant diversion but also because Mike was so at ease. Although Alex did her best to buffer her own emotions from the onslaught of other people's, the unique nature of her psychic bond with Mike would have made his emotional state difficult to ignore. Her cheek fell against his shoulder, slender fingertips encircling the bicep against her side. This has been nice. Telepathy meant conversations were unlikely to disturb anyone, although with the private box, Alex probably could have easily spoken aloud. Her mental tone carried more nuance than her voice would have, You were right. I needed something like this. Thank you.
  19. Talya didn't comment aloud but she did glance over her shoulder to give Min one of those small, rare smiles that looked so very little like the polished and practiced ones she showed the world. Silently, she stepped to the side to allow Gina to join her at the sink, making sure the woman had a comfortable position before she rolled her sleeves up to turn her elegantly manicured hands to labor. "There's a reason that I favor black, Gina, it is extraordinarily forgiving to my antics as well as flattering my complexion." Her humor was light, easy as she answered the woman - not yet relaxed by any means but Talya gave very good impressions of 'relaxed' when she wanted to. Her smile was small, amused, as she added, "Erik has been suffering under the realization that he's become the responsible one of late. It's, apparently, very distressing although I can't imagine how it's a surprise. He's been working with Chris for ages now, after all." She turned her head slightly to acknowledge Erik with that gentle jibe as well as give both of the Espadas a very small nod to promise that she really was fine. It was all very new to have support unasked - new, but all the more precious for that. "If you want to ensure that Steve isn't somberly handing out truffle after truffle, I think we have this?"
  20. Trusting that her staff would see to the woman - and let her know if they could not - Alex floated over to the knot of students as she spread her hands outward. There was very little to tell that the powerful psychic was exerting herself, save for the disturbance where protestors, or their weapons, hit the shield instead of reaching the students. In her business suit, Alex didn't cut quite the same figure as she did when in uniform but her voice was steady and carried clear and high over the disturbance. "Go home," Alex said, her tone neither frightened nor angry. No, the only emotion in her calm tones was a quiet sort of sadness, "This isn't going to give you any peace - just more burdens to carry. Go home. No one wants this, really, not even you. These are children. There is nothing worth killing children."
  21. For her standard action, Psyche will create some barrier walls between the kids and everyone else with her create object. They're impervious and subtle.
  22. Robin didn't have time to offer comfort - and she was uncertain what she could have said to make anything better, even if she'd had the time. "More the merrier - well, no, not really." Was her short but not unfriendly response to Shrike as the woman materialized, her body tense and tight in preparation for fight or flight. The latter, though, wasn't an option. "Try to slow down what I can," she said, mostly to Riley before she burst into movement. If Robin was afraid, it didn't show on her grim features as she met the Ferals at a dead run into the melee. The Fens native didn't even slow as her momentum carried through, pivoting on the ball of her foot to send an elbow into the first Feral's throat as it reached for her. The wet crack of Robin hitting an ostensibly human throat at full strength was going to haunt her later but in the moment, all she could do was keep fighting. Thankfully, the one thing Robin had learned in two years of life or death scrabbling on the streets was how to turn off things like fear and doubt in the moment. The teenager spun, dropping another Feral with a knee to the solar plexus and then followed the body down with a sharp strike of her heel. She fought with the same economy of movement and brutal street techniques Riley had seen several times, but Riley, at least, had seen his girlfriend in battle enough times to know that she had clearly taken his warnings seriously as none of those punches were pulled. The third and fourth followed their companions down to the ground just as quickly, leaving Robin spattered from their wounds but thus far, unharmed.
  23. Probably just the first four coming at me!
  24. Nighthawk is taking ten with her +10 attack bonus and is utilizing her Takedown x2 (Mentioned in chat but figured I should put it here for record keeping)
  25. "My love, Erik and I are still dancing around expressing genuine emotions without burying them in banter when alone," Talya said, at least some dry humor finally back in her tone as she slanted a look up at Min, "There's no possible way we'd have managed to get through an entire conversation about family planning when left to our own devices. If nothing else, someone would have distracted someone else when things grew too uncomfortable... Actually..." She tipped her head to the side, genuinely considering seduction as a way out of the admittedly necessary conversation. Glancing from Min's serene expression to Erik's earnest one, Talya hesitated before answering the unspoken question. "No..." Talya said first as if she were still testing the idea out. Finally, she sighed, the tension leaching out of her muscles, "No," she repeated, this time more certain as she added, "I suppose that I'd like to move the time table up on remodeling; the bed is already rather snug." Talya paused and then true dismay flickered across her features as she came to the most distressing of realizations, "Nothing I own is going to fit!"
