Robin didn't comment as really, her only plan when confronted with things like this was to give as good as she got. Though, from the size of the thing and the way it hit, this was certainly no common thug like she was used to. Still, there were innocent people beyond Hannah's deceptively delicate looking wall. However, there were also other super heroes. The Chaperones might not be right here but with a bunch of middling trained super kids wandering around, they couldn't be all that far off. "We just have to keep it - her - here until one of the teachers shows up," Robin offered, her jaw tense as she stepped in to close the distance with the creature. "However long that takes." Without her jacket, the definition in Robin's arms and back was a lot more obvious in her thin shirt. She stepped in, ducking under one long arm to bring her fist up and towards her rough guess as to where the monster's solar plexus should roughly have been. The hit connected with a meaty smack, backed by the momentum of Robin's body as she twisted with the punch but it didn't seem to even slow it down. Well, if nothing else, hopefully Robin continued to make sure the attention remained on her.

"That was during her vegan kick," Alex said with a laugh at the memory, her eyes sparkling with good natured mirth, "Mike and Mr. Harris were so dismayed during that one. I swear, Mike was never so grateful for the cafeteria food as when his mom is on her nutritional kicks." Still chuckling, Alex nodded her head in agreement with Erin's assessment, "Fortunately, you and Trevor are much more likely to be on the same page about it. Spring's a good time. The risk of rain is higher but the flowers are all so pretty and honestly, we probably no someone who could ensure good weather for your wedding day. We have a remarkably resourceful group of friends and acquaintances. Honestly, with Mark in the wedding party, nothing would dare go wrong." She swung her legs free then, scuffing her sneakers one after the other against the stone along the side of the building, the tapping faintly rhythmic, "I'm on board, I'm just waiting for Mike to get there. He has many strong thoughts and feelings on things. Like sex." Alex scrunched her nose and then shrugged, "But I don't want to pressure him because that would be super gross so I don't. He'll get there and its not like there aren't other things you can do together."

The knock on the manor's door was polite and came in short order as Alex had either flown or utilized the teleportation technology that had been moved from the old Young Freedom HQ to AEON. More likely the later, given the speed. The slim redhead hadn't changed all that much in the ensuing years and as she hadn't been currently 'on the clock', she was dressed much more akin to the Alex they knew than the one that occasionally appeared in official statements or in the news. Her pleated skirt was an improbably cheerful yellow that was certainly jarring against the hot pink of the light silk top. Which would have been enough but, by god, there were sparkly barrettes in her red hair with brilliant green streamers pulling her bangs back from her face. Despite the somber reason, she couldn't help the smile wreathing her face at having a good half of her old friends all in one location. "It's like we're getting the band back together!" She teased as she hugged Mark first on her way through the room. "It's been such a long time. I want to meet your girlfriend!" Alex added that, pausing to give Trevor a hug to in the spirit of enthusiasm and because he might stand still long enough for it. "And you're getting married! I have a binder for you!" Erin was not left out for all that she'd seen her most recently. It was brief and Alex still took care not to catch Erin by surprise although as she tore through room like a tiny day-glow hurricane, Alex was anything but subtle. "It's a small binder," she promised Erin on her way through the hug-fest before she ended at Mike. Alex threw her arms around the wall of muscle that she called a fiance, tucking her cheek against his chest and squeezing him somewhat ineffectually, "I am sorry that it all sort of exploded. Do you want me to see if I can shut down the news footage? I know you said you didn't but are you sure?" From her tone, Alex was picking up aloud a thread of conversation that had been previously explored, probably mentally.

"That's all that getting older really is - covering up that you don't really know what you're doing," Alex confirmed with a small smile. She stretched then, uncoiling and letting her hands rise up above her head until her back cracked as if to punctuate the 'getting older' statement. "I mean - you know I try not to eavesdrop but somethings telegraph. Worry telegraphs. Uncertainty telegraphs. Everyone mostly tries to get through life with the vague hope that they will not screw things up too badly along the way." Alex let her hands drop back to her lap again, smoothing out the sparkling edges of her ridiculous sweater. "Besides... the wedding should just be fun. I'm just here to help! Honestly, I have people these days. If you decided you just wanted to point out a couple of pictures that looked good, we could make it happen. Whenever you're ready and that can really take as long as you and Trevor want to." She paused and then grinned, "Though I wouldn't recommend taking as long as Mike and I have from personal experience. Eventually everyone starts to worry that things have gone horribly awry. The looks I get from Mike's mom when I stop by."
-
"Mike's changing his name," Alex replied with a small smile. "It's a bit easier if I don't have to change my name - there's a lot in my name that would be kind of a hassle to change around. So Mike's taking the Albright name as he doesn't mind being the one to change his. I mean, his mom has always been on that new age-y bent - she's really into doing detoxes and cleanses right now. I got her a juicer last Christmas. So, she's all for it and his dad's come around." "So it'll be Michael and Alexandra Albright," Alex offered cheerfully before she laughed, "Other than the whole endangered species thing, being some sort of pulp era big game hunter sounds kind of exotic for an alter-ego. It's straight out of an old serial." Alex teased before she smiled, "I think Keeley Erin Hunter-White is good name. It suites you."
-
"I know. Even though you can intellectually know that its going to hurt the same regardless of whether or not there are papers, its the difference between walking down the road eyes open and just letting things unfold. It's huge but I'm proud of you." Alex said as she rested her chin on her denim clad knee, arms casually looped around the leg. "Besides, you have a lot more tools to keep Trevor safe and he has tools to keep you safe. You're stronger together than apart. You've totally got this." Alex turned to smile at Erin then, "I like it. It's a little bit of a mouthful but not in a bad way. Is Trevor hyphenating his name too? Trevor Hunter-White? Or is he just keeping it 'Hunter'?"

Showed what she got for trying to be polite and avert her eyes. Since she was looking anywhere but the girl she was holding, Robin was surprised by the sudden explosion of muscles everywhere that ripped the previously slight young woman from her hands. Still blinking at the transformation and the warning, perhaps her lack of response to the really rather reasonable warning could be understood this time. Hopefully, she'd be quicker on the uptake next time. The monster - for lack of a better term - didn't waste any time and the punch hit Robin with the audible crack right in the jaw dead on, sending the girl staggering backwards. It really should have broken several bones, by rights as the punch was solid and backed by the sort of muscle that could probably send cars flying. Robin certainly felt it as the healing split lip broke open once again, twisting with the force to come up on her feet once more. She brought a hand up, touching the new bruise forming and spat out blood. "Okay, fine," Robin muttered as she shrugged out of her leather jacket, letting it land in the dust, and pulled her fists up, "Let's do this the hard way, then."

Robin takes it on the chin: 30

Robin's gaze dropped to the hand on hers, her expression uncertain as the conversation veered without warning. The relaxation that had softened her muscles dropped away as adrenaline spiked, leaving her tightly wound but without an outlet. There was no fight here, nor anything objectively to flee from. Those, Robin at least would have known what to do with. This whole... teenage hormonal response, however, was new and uncharted territory that left her feeling off balance and unsure. Robin wasn't sure she liked the sensation. "I'm really... not sure that you'd actually want that?" Robin said, which was neither refusal nor agreement. She didn't jerk her hand away, merely frowning at it like she wasn't sure what to make of it. Kissing always looked like it would be fun and Riley certainly was attractive. That part she could manage, sure. The rest of it was murky waters but roof top making out she could probably manage. "I mean, for the rules of 'this world', I am by no means a catch. Even outside of this weird school." She finally shifted, touching the back of his hand with her free one, her fingertips light and almost skittish before she pulled back, "But, seriously, don't sell yourself short. You're handsome and, hey, you don't fall off of rooftops." Robin offered him a small smile. "I like you just fine."

Robin had been about to comment when a faint shadow caught her attention. She knew that shadow and from the pointed gaze that the new Headmistress was fixing her direction, Robin was tardy in announcing her presence. "Hey, I'll catch up with you guys later. Nice to meet you," Robin murmured, stepping back from the back of the group and turning to head for the school proper and the solitary figure standing in the doorstep. No doubt she was only adding fuel to Huang's theories that she was a spy for the latest Summers to rule the school. It wasn't actually the case as Robin was likely just in for another lecture about her stubborn, near suicidal vigilante tendencies while a student and perhaps, because the teachers really did care, efforts to find a way to make the stubborn, proud kid from the Fens get into some of the programs that would help her with things like books and supplies. Regardless, with a small wave, Robin peeled off from the group to head over to the building and take the steps two at a time to catch up the headmistress before vanishing inside.
-
Robin stared, the jade that pelted her largely unnoticed by the young vigilante as they very definitely broke the statue though really - who would have expected the thing to unearth some poor girl frozen inside. Even for Freedom City, that was weird. It was Raina's yelp that pushed her into movement. In one fluid motion, Robin leaned forward and lifted up the half naked young woman. It was surprisingly easy. Part of Robin's brain took note that it took little effort to lift the girl up from where she had been thrashing at Raina even though she was almost of a height with Robin herself. With her hands around the girl's rib cage, Robin lifted her off the ground to hold her up. It wasn't the best, or most restraining, of grips but she seemed more freaked out - reasonably enough - than dangerous so for the moment, Robin was willing to leave her arms free to smack at Robin's chest and shoulders. "Hey, calm down. You're out of the statue thing now." Robin offered and then averted her gaze upwards, "Aaand kind of naked..."

"Like in the abstract, do I want a boyfriend? Sure, but I wouldn't know what to do. Or how to act," Robin admitted, turning towards Riley with a smile that was bright in the shadows. She still had her shoulder companionably tucked against his and although the question seemed abrupt, Robin had inferred it to be more abstract than an actual suggestion. Because a life lived without anything other than the most casual contact with her own age had left her a bit out of practice with reading between the lines. Which might have been best as at least she was relaxed rather than turning stiff and awkward. She turned her wrist up under his examination of the leather. Beneath the fabric, her arm was firm and almost too lean - the bones of her wrist just a bit more pronounced than they should have been. "I'd probably screw it up in a week or less." As Riley turned away, Robin nudged his shoulder then very lightly with her own. The flinch was something she recognized, at least and she didn't ask further questions about the died, or 'worse'. "People that say time heals all wounds are full of crap. It just becomes a different sort of pain. What about you? Are you dating someone?"
-
Robin had glanced over, her gaze sharpening at the first, not inaccurate, statement. She generally agreed that most of the kids here wouldn't have known what to do in a real fight although to Robin, that was generally the way things ought to work. It was always a tragedy when childhoods were lost to war and really, that seemed to be the alternative. Opening her mouth to offer her thoughts and opinions, the last question took her by surprise. Whatever she'd been about to say turned into a harsh cough. "Hah. No. Ah, thanks," Robin said, the words awkward enough that she winced. Clearing her throat once more, Robin's fingertips ran over the stitching in her jacket absently. "Dating, all of that, it hasn't really been part of my life - you know? I don't- I haven't-" Robin's sighed, "I live on the streets. When people ask you out, it's not usually something you really want to take them up on as they generally are thinking more 'cash for services offered' than going to the movies." She shifted then, picking up the trail of the conversation and hoping that hadn't been too painfully awkward. Robin knew that some people had put together what her life had likely been like before coming to Claremont but that was her first even tacit admission of it and she shifted back to more solid conversational ground, "That's got to be rough - I mean, it sounds like your Freedom at least involves more wildlife than ours but it must be hard to know the city and yet have it be completely different. Like a constant deja vu."
-
Robin made a rude noise in the back of her throat from where she was standing, staring eye to eye at the creepy statue, "Nah, if I dared you to lick it, you'd have probably dug up the cajones to actually do it." She pointed out, perhaps not inaccurately but certainly escalating the situation despite the efforts of cooler heads to not get them all kicked out of the museum. Unable to resist, Robin offered Raina a small smile that was actually fairly friendly. Brash and bravado was the sort of interactions she at least was used to and for a moment, Robin gave into the temptation of not feeling like an outsider as she encouraged, "You going to give the tortured statue a little love, Raina?" Now that. That was definitely a dare.

Robin stepped over, right next to the ropes to lean slightly over where Raina was laying down. The statue was disturbing and Robin didn't like it. Whoever felt the need to memorialize that level of agony was one seriously messed up artist. She kept her gaze averted from the statue as she didn't care to contemplate that degree of torment and focused on Raina. "Maybe it just came out of their twisted imagination. Though how you carve something in jade this refined, I don't even know. It would have had to be a massive piece to then go 'I'm'a create some truly tortured young girl'. Hopefully, they got hit with a horse drawn buggy," Robin said, her voice a little tight as she leaned over and offered one calloused hand to the other girl hoping to coax her out before some overzealous rent-a-cop hustled over, "But unless you wanna get kicked out, we should probably not, like, lick the statue."

"You've both come a long way. It does feel good to get better," Alex agreed with a small smile. Though she might have been duking it out with Edge for most 'well adjusted' from their graduating class, Alex had a ring-side seat for the struggles that they'd had to go through. She was proud and it showed on her fine-boned features. "How are you doing with the whole wedding thing?" Alex asked then since the conversation had segued back in that direction, "I mean, not with all the planning and all of that. That's easy. But I remember that you used to think you couldn't do anything like normal. Is it exciting to be here? Scary? Both?" Alex scootched one leg up towards her chest, wrapping her arms around it to hug her knee towards her chest as she gave Erin her full attention. "It can seem like a big step though I think you and Trevor are really good for each other."
-
Robin shifted, pulling the folded map of the museum from her back pocket as she went to straighten it out and compare it with the list of questions that the other girls were holding. A bit more shuffling and she'd produced the nub of a pencil that probably should have been discarded for a fresh one long ago with the way she had to curl her fingers to hold onto it. "Letsee," Robin muttered, skimming over the list. From her grim determination, one might think that she were gearing up for something far more dire than trying to find the most expeditious route through the museum, "Most people are probably going to just wander around but I think if we head down that way, we'll probably find the answers to questions seven, ten and thirteen from the topics there." She gestured towards one hall and its 'Technology in Freedom City' banner.

"Yeah. 'Cuz that's when fighting matters. When it's for brownie points and a pat on the back," Robin shot back coolly, her posture still coiled and ready until the girls began to make their egress. When they were well out of range, she finally dropped her posture - slowly straightening up to her full height once more. Without turning to look back at Raina, Robin spoke up her voice as steady and even as it had be, "That's exactly the sort of thing they expect us to do, you know. Cut and run. Prove we can't hack it in 'their' world." As the girls moved out of sight, Robin turned back to the other three girls that she was supposed to do this assignment with. Her jaw was stubborn, set pugnaciously and she thrust her hands back into her jacket pockets once more. With effort, she forced the tension creeping into her shoulders and neck back down. When she smiled, it held little humor, "You can do whatever you wanna, Raina. I'm not gonna stop you but I'm pretty sure between the four of us we can slam through this assignment and be done first. I'd kind of rather show them up, personally, since being 'best' in teachers eyes is so important apparently." She met Raina's gaze, a question implicit before she shifted it to Hannah and Cathy, "What d'you say? Shall we see if we can beat the teachers' pets to the finish line?"

"I thought you were from Freedom City?" Robin asked, her brow creasing briefly. Interdimensional antics was a largely foreign concept to her and she had to briefly reevaluate her current theories of an underground bear-fight club or perhaps the supernatural fairy land monsters roaming the land at night. She still leaned in companionably. Under her leather jacket, her shoulder was muscular and solid without much padding beyond the old leather she wore. "Those things are awful," Robin said, scrunching her nose up in dismay. She had one and it wasn't the tight fit she objected to - it wasn't unlike her old gymnast costumes in fit. "Not to mention, who wants to go running around in their school uniform and risk bringing attention back to the school. I figure I'll just continue to let my clothes get messed up when I get shot. I've gotten pretty good at patching them. See?" Robin shifted, flipping up her arm to demonstrate the very careful stitching that had pulled jagged ends of the leather back together. The battered jacket had more than its fair share of those little stitch marks in it but at least the leather was durable. Her fingertips plucked at a stray thread, pulling it out. "Though I bet you could take one and dye it something else if you could get your hands on it to do so. That might make them less 'here I am. Please shoot me now!'. Maybe. So do you get attitude about not having powers?" The last question was almost an abrupt shift, her head tilting to the side. "There seems to be a whole lot of 'hey, look what I can do' that I just don't know how to participate in. Which is sort of what I'm getting used to. It's a good day if I can get through a conversation with a classmate. This is the longest conversation I've had in years." That was not an exaggeration.
-
Robin took that in stride, giving Riley a thoughtful look at his short, sharp words on the subject. Her nose scrunched when he reached the end of the brief story, her expression sympathetic. It wasn't easy to figure out exactly what Riley had been through but if he was used to fighting bears and what all without leaving Freedom City, it probably wasn't any sort of normal life. After all, he was here now. "Sucks. I'm sorry," was her succinct response about the matter with his ex-roommate. "I guess just because people are going to be superheroes someday doesn't mean that they aren't a whole bag of jerkoffs now, apparently. There's this whole clique-thing that seems to be going on too. Screw him." Her hand flipped up, the gesture rude and dismissive as she promptly lumped Riley's ex-roomie in the same category of waste of space that she'd mentally stuck Sofia in. Judgemental? A little. Some of the fight went out of her and she sighed, "Yeah, some. I haven't really been to school a whole lot in the last six years so I have a lot to catch up on. I've got some classes that from what I can tell are all remedial. I have therapy sessions stuffed in between like they're regular classes, but they're not. It's a lot of time that I'd rather be spending doing something else, so I get what you mean." Robin ran her fingertips over the knuckles of her other hand, "But, I dunno. Hopefully there's some use to be gleaned out of it. I mean, there are things I'm not good at. Stuff I don't know. There may be something in these classes I can use so I'm giving it a chance. If its all worthless, I know where the door is, you know?"
-
Robin had stepped in front of the other three girls at the obvious threat. Sure, it was a more social threat than the sort she was used to, but Robin still keenly understood the threat implied with the sort of savvy that came from a life of threat and violence. Although she'd been about to point out that they might end up kicked out of the museum if they went about touching all of the exhibits, she bridled at the condescension implicit in the popular girl's tone. She moved forward, her worn sneaker squeaking slightly as she turned her foot and dropped her shoulders, her hands coming up in loose fists. To someone like Sofia Torrez who could read a person's body like a book, there was no bluffing there. If Sofia stepped forward, rules or not - witnesses or not - Robin was going to strike and she was going to play for keeps. Sure, Robin might be verifying every awful rumor about her right now but she'd not survived her sort of lifestyle by letting a threat go unanswered. Even to those less aware, there was a palpable danger that radiated from the way Robin lifted her hands ever so slightly. "You want to dance now, Torrez?" By contrast Robin's tone was mild, the polish falling away from her words as her chin went up, the scab of her most recently acquired split lip on display almost defiantly. Hell, she figured it was only a matter of time before she got bounced from school for something. Maybe that was today. "Either put up or shut up."

"I gained a quarter of an inch since I was sixteen," Alex pointed out, her tone sounding utterly serious but the smile made it clear that she was well aware she was the short-fry of their graduating class, "It's not my fault that I peaked early. I eat the same things Mike did - though not in the same massive quantities. Those boys could seriously put away a ton of food. We'll have to plan for that for your wedding. Wouldn't do to run out thanks to meta-human metabolisms." Alex swung her legs absently, one sneakered foot behind the other. The laces of her sneakers were sparkly enough that they should have matched her sweater but some how failed to. "That's absolutely what Mike would do. Though, he's gotten better. He's grown up... even if I don't treat him that way a lot of the time. Even if the whole academy thing didn't work out in the long run, it really was good for him." She bumped her shoulder into Erin's own rock solid muscles, teasing, "He's even stopped writing poetry and really, that's a gift to everyone."
