"Hmm?" Taylor's voice came over the phone line quickly, which meant the cell phone had been out of her pocket and somewhere close by. There was the faint noise of rustling blankets as she moved. "One second." Doors open and shut since phasing with the phone in hand tended to lead to dropped signals. Neither of the grown ups slept anymore but JJ did, and usually during the day if he could manage it so Taylor had been taking advantage of the free time that had afforded her. Once the bathroom door clicked shut, she started the water up, phone pressed to her ear. "Of course, let me hop in the shower. Where do you want me to meet you?"

A Doktor Who Makes House Calls?! [IC] [Closed]
alderwitch replied to Dr Archeville's topic in North Bay
"Just make it an even grand," Taylor suggested as she held her arms out for the sleeping baby, the costume dissipating as her voice dropped to Taylor's normal register. It left her dressed in jeans and a loose sweater. She turned apologetic eyes up to Jack as she cradled their sleeping son, lowering her voice to a whisper as well so as not to disturb Jack Jr. "I'm so sorry I'm late. I got caught up in something unexpected. "- 121 replies

Talya smiled slightly at that and waved her hand, "Oh no, I know. I was standing between Scarab and Ace Danger. I'm well aware of how noteworthy I am between those two. I've had to make an entrance on their arms many times before. Well, technically it was the first Scarab. That's really neither here nor there." She turned her head back to the bickering siblings and added with studious innocence. "I :ahem: found something, that I was hoping I could get a professional opinion on. Do you think it would be alright if we went inside. I promise to not touch any of the sensors or turrets or cameras." She paused and then grinned, "Unless asked to, of course. I am nothing if not accommodating."
-
Talya laughed at Vince's rather comical dismay, flashing a quick conspiritorial smile at Jack, "Likely because he's hoping to nip my curiosity in the bud. Which is all well and good as I really did come for a point and purpose. You know, not just a social call. It doesn't do to seem over eager." "Hello," Talya greeted the speedster and then turned an amused smile to Jill's aggravated tone, "And hello to you as well. Full house inside today? Talya, by the way, is fine. How do you do?" She offered her hand to Eli as he was closer, her old fashioned manners at odds with the contemporary clothing but she was equally comfortable with either.

Alex made a little sighing noise in her sleep, turning her face towards Mike even unconscious and smiled slightly. She pulled the towel up over her shoulder like it was a blanket and tucked her legs up to get comfortable before dropping back deeper into sleep. She looked about eight snuggled up with her face mushed into the seat and snoring softly.

"No, he'll hide his face but we've proven that the sun doesn't do anything but make him lethargic and cranky. If he's biting, a little lethargy isn't such a bad thing." Taylor said as she snuggled him against her shoulder and grabbed a blanket for him to hang onto and hide behind if he really got unhappy. "So, show me around the place! You've been busy, it seems. Did you do this all yourself?"
-
"I don't know. You tell me." Talya smiled slowly and uncrossed her legs, moving to stand up with easy grace. She brushed the skirt, straightening the pleats so that they hung neatly in place. One would never guess that she'd taken her usual method of travel across the city. She'd stolen anti-wrinkle secrets from Ace ages ago. Talya took a step towards him and tilted her face up, "Maybe I just got lonely. I do, you know. Get lonely." Never one to forget the presence of security footage, she glanced back towards the screen and flashed a wicked grin at the AI, "Forty-two. That's the number of sensors I found so far. How did I do?"
-
"I don't think anyone will call." Taylor said, more to Jack than the kids as they headed outside, she called over her shoulder, "But call if you need us, and if you really need to use the Back Door, there's a key to the library under the mat and the pass-phrase is 'Red red rose'. Have fun!" Then, once they'd stepped outside, Taylor would offer her hand to Jack. The Faretti's rarely used cars.

They were almost too easy to dispatch, puffing into nothingness as the bat whirled through them and vanishing with the sort of pop of pressure changing as they left. JJ would be able to understand that sensation as the little rifts closing as what ever power that was animating them dispersed. Clearly the creatures had some malevolent intent but each was a connection to that vanishing realm of the Void and JJ felt his innate connection ripping a little further with the loss of each scrap of Void stuffs.

Erin takes out six of the minions, all of the ones alongside one of the banks of windows. This leaves about 24 left. Avenger is up, I will post up a quick IC descriptor for the poofing of minions.

Bombshell looked startled but recovered swiftly, on the alert as she followed Jack back to slip behind one of the larger stacks of crates. Without her heels, Bombshell had to rise up on her tiptoes to look over the top of the stack, her body tucked up against Jack's side. She murmured, barely loud enough for Jack to catch it, standing as close as they were, "Well, hello, heavy weapons..." Sweeping through the back room were men dressed in para-military style, dark BDU's and holding thankfully mundane if very large and nasty looking snub nose machine guns as they quickly quartered and searched the back area. They were good and well trained, but the two heroes were far better and the two patrols of two men each never seemed to spy out their hiding place as they made a relatively complete search of the area. Bombshell arched her brows at Jack in silent question, her smile flashing bright under her mask as she pantomimed a quick one gloved hand into the other in mute suggestion of taking out the gunmen.

Since both Talya and JoaB have enough stealth, there's really no way the mooks with guns can spot them so they can hide out until the people leave or get a surprise round.

Alex made a sleepy little giggle that turned into a soft snore at the end. She was, by far and away not only the smallest but the most 'normal' by physiological standards. So alcohol not only equaled intoxication but with the hot water, turned into drowsiness and then slumber. Fortunately, for everyone, Alex's projection weakened substantially as the petite telepath slipped quickly into full-on sleep. So while the faint presence of her mind continued to brush against their surface thoughts now and again, she was no longer sharing her own emotional swings or the state of inebriation that she'd reached.

A Doktor Who Makes House Calls?! [IC] [Closed]
alderwitch replied to Dr Archeville's topic in North Bay
"Viktor, that's really not necessary. Again, I take responsibility. I should have been home for this appointment tonight. I am well aware of just how dangerous some things in here can be but I was... detained. With all you've done for this family, I wouldn't even think of charging you for anything. Besides..." Phantom gestured and the window glass reformed into solid panes once more. "We've had to get used to fixing things around the house. Between Avenger and myself... It's not a problem at all." She nodded at the doctor and then turned to the teens. "Avenger took the baby out the 'back door'." She said in answer to Erin's question and turned to one of the panels of the wall, gloved fingers searching for the hidden switches to swing the paneling out of the way. With a click, the wall swung back to reveal a portal that opened into black depths broken only by flashes of eldritch light. For those who had just traveled through Phantom's cloak, it was a familiar enough sight. "And into the Void. It's incredibly safe, but easy to get lost in."- 121 replies

"Sorry, I should have warned you." Taylor apologized, even as she knelt down to scoop up her wailing son and snuggle him against her shoulder while she rooted around for a bottle in the dimensional pocket. "He's gotten some of Jack's, hrmm, dietary quirks. We're trying to keep him on, well, human food as much as possible but it does make weaning him hard." She popped the bottle into the still snuffling infant's mouth, tucking him back against one shoulder. JJ wound one chubby fist in the tail of her pony tail and eyed Stesha with teary-eyed suspicion. "He doesn't pass at all well which makes it hard to take him out places although we've been trying to socialize him a little bit but... well..." Taylor glanced at Stesha's injury as if that was explanation enough and offered, "I can heal that, by the way. I am so sorry."

I was thinking after Nov 2nd when Red Rover takes place but I don't think there's a problem with shifting both threads around unless Giz has one? Afternoon is the current setting.

Yup! Heritage and I thought it would be fun. I do have an adventure to run as well if you all want one
-
Alex was drowsing at this point, cuddling back into Mike's lap once things had settled back down and Mark was obviously unharmed. Which was a rather lucky thing since if floating a towel was that hard, she should probably not be trying to heal anyone. She tucked her cheek against Mike's shoulder, one arm looped over his broad shoulders, half drowsing as the game played on.

Talya laughed and sat back, resting her hands on the chair behind her, her posture indolent. "Go right ahead, I'll just be sitting here... admiring the scenery and trying to see if I can find all of your sensors. Does my file say just how much I enjoy the challenge of a good security system? Just how complete, I wonder, is that little file of yours." It probably did say quite a bit about Talya's love of a challenge, in between the 'rob you blind' statements. She smiled at the screen before glancing at her watch and started her own mental timer. "One in the planter over there, right?"

Phantom followed through, giving Archeville a thoughtful look as she realized the thick German accent had faded. She had a good ear for accents with her mundane work and focus, even if she did little of that these days. "Hold still," She instructed the doctor, extending one gloved hand out towards him as she cast her arcane magic. "Hrm, no. There is nothing unusual lingering in you mystically speaking. Well, nothing more unusual than the dissonance your existence generally causes me." She landed with a thump, her form turning solid as she walked across the floor, the cloak billowing out unnaturally around and behind her without ever dragging on the ground. "Some books are sentient in and of themselves, others are merely conduits for powers. This one, it's a little of both. It would not have chosen just anyone but that which made you appealing, also protects you from the nastier side effects. Were Wander to read it, for example, she would likely be maddened before the spell worked itself to completion."- 121 replies

Talya turned her head although she made no move to get up since seated always came off as just a little more harmless. She crossed her legs, letting the skirt ride up a little. Who knew, the AI might just be that well developed! She smiled and leaned forward slightly, "Well, I thought that Lynn might not remember her open door offer and I really didn't want to put you in the always awkward position of trying to contain me were we to have that little... misunderstanding." Smoothing the edge of her skirt with a practiced gesture, she added, "It isn't pleasure - well it isn't just pleasure that brings me to your lovely patio. It is lovely, by the way. Do you do the landscaping yourself?"
-
Taylor gave Trevor a quick apologetic smile and also leaned into kiss her son's fuzzy head. "You be good for Erin this time. No hiding in the Void and scaring everyone half to death." That was entirely serious although she tickled the baby under his chin and was rewarded with another drooly smile as she made the request. JJ's survival skills were really quite good but he was just starting to get conscious control of sliding between the dimensions. It was only nerve-wracking in the sense that Taylor had to go get him or someone had to risk a trip through the 'back door' of the manor - a constantly open portal to the Void deep inside the mansion. She stepped into her shoes and fastened them, turning slightly so that Jack could help her into her coat as well, "Jack and I both have our cells and if that doesn't work, just have one of the ghosts fire up the mirror in the living room. I've locked the door to the library just to be on the safe side as I have some work out on the desk in there."

"Oooh?" Alex stirred herself up before looking up at Mike's face. "No, I'm good." She focused, pointing one wet hand up at a towel, her face scrunched in concentration as it lurched off of its hook and began to weave its drunken way through the air, vaguely towards Mark, "This is hard. Mark, you might have to make a grab for that cuz... it's kinda like trying to do that thing where you touch your nose and walk in a straight line. I mean, things you can't do drunk."

"Oh for Merlin's sake," Taylor muttered, folding her arms up as she fixed Jack with a vaguely exasperated expression on her face. Her head cocked to one side as she watched the exchange, deciding that it was better to keep an eye on it rather than stop it. Otherwise, Taylor had a feeling Jack would sneak back to test the mettle of the young man in a far more irritating to her plans for the evening sort of way. She tapped one bare foot, however, her displeasure with the turn for dramatics making itself known as she commented to Erin in an aside, "I knew it was going end poorly when he came down smiling. Sometimes, that really is just him baring his teeth in a socially acceptable way."
