  1. "I think you're right. Why don't you head home, Erin? I'll take him up for another quick meal and get him settled in for a nap." Taylor offered as she leaned down to scoop up the baby and cuddle him close. She smiled as he grabbed onto her amulet and began playing with it. "I should have time until Jack gets home at least." She stood up and nodded, "Just give us warning. You know how well Jack responds to surprise visitors and I don't want to risk a bad introduction." When Taylor said 'bad introduction' she used it for polite euphemism of 'might need a blood transfusion', and it was more than a little clear from her tone that she wasn't worrying about something like simple dislike. Erin, however, was likely well aware that the hybrid family she dealt with did not have normal social interactions with the outside world.
  2. "You only say 'no harm' because there were no recordings of the Scarab the next morning. I however, did have a ring side seat," Talya said dryly as she accepted the tissues with a smile of thanks. She pulled one out and turned towards the mirror to blot the edge of her lipstick but her gaze stayed tauntingly on Joan in the mirror, her lips quirked in a small smirk, "Although I'm sure she made her thoughts known far and wide eventually. She generally does. It is part of her unique charm, after all." Talya's smile widened and she tilted her head to the side, "I have no hard feelings. I'm quite used to bad press with my history. Considering some of the articles, it was downright benign..." She pivoted slowly, resting her hips against the bathroom counter and shifting so that the slit widened to display one toned thigh. As she was quite aware that neither woman would likely be interested, she was only doing it to be provoking, "But I never pegged you as the type to retreat. Aren't you going to ask me questions? I didn't even get to verbally fence with you the first time around. Not sporting at all."
  3. Taylor shook her hand slightly as the last dents of her finger filled in and stopped bleeding. Regeneration was the only way that JJ had been breastfed as long as he had been. She flexed her hand as she turned to look at Erin and thought for a moment or two. "I think that would be fine. We'd want to meet him first, not just to make sure that Jack and I are comfortable with his presence but also he'll need to be introduced to the wards and ghosts so that they recognize him as not a threat... He doesn't have any unfortunate history with monsters, does he? Vampires, ghosts, witches and all that?"
  4. "Shhh, wait, don't think of one yet. I can still hear you." Alex screwed up her face, scrunching her eyes closed as she tried to stop focusing on Trevor enough so that she could be surprised with the options. She covered her eyes with her wet hands and waited for a few moments. "Uhhhm. Okay. Truth!"
  5. Talya glanced up as she shut the door behind her and smiled slowly at the news reporter. "Why, hello... working on another stinging opinion piece about a super-hero's personal life? Perhaps you might check the rubbish bin behind the kitchen. I'm sure there's something more than a little fascinating to be unearthed." She flashed a quick, sharp smile as she made her way to the mirror to check her lipstick, "Well, hello, Miss Americana, isn't it? You know, a few decades ago and you would have been in the running for my favorite super hero to nettle with that name alone. The whole package, however, does make me regret giving up my wicked ways - if only for a moment. Do you happen to have a tissue?"
  6. Talya chuckled and stepped gracefully to the side, "Far be it from me to step on a lovely gesture. I'll catch up with you later, Viktor. Save a dance for me." She winked and then slipped away from the couple, skirting along the edges of the dance floor as her gaze flicked from famous face to famous face and only occasionally straying to a particularly shiny strand of jewelry. By the time she'd made a circuit around the floor, she'd mentally calculated what she would have stolen... were she to still be doing that, of course - and just how she would have gotten it from the party under the eyes of all of the superheroes. Talya had to admit that the presence of some of Freedom's finest made it much more tempting. It would have been quite a challenge. After another thoughtful look, she decided to remove herself from temptation for a moment or two and headed to the ladies restroom. It certainly wasn't to scope out other possible exit routes, oh no, she was on such good behavior!
  7. "I don't really know who he gets that from. Neither Jack nor I have ever been accused of being easy going." Taylor admitted as she tucked her hair back behind one ear and leaned down once more to take the empty bottle from JJ. She unhooked it from his fangs with practiced ease and then rubbed her fingertip along the notches on the bottle thoughtfully. "You really are teething... here, let mommy take a look." She knelt down to rub her finger along his gums. Unlike most babies, Jack happily opened his mouth for her probing finger and quickly snapped down onto her hand. Taylor had been expecting it but it still hurt. She winced and hissed slightly before she phased her hand free from his clenched jaws and examined the already healing bite mark on her fingertip, "Yup, both of those have just broken through, I think. Poor thing."
  8. "I had to think outside the box." Taylor admitted, twisting her wedding bands on her finger, her expression creasing in memory, "It wasn't easy and in the end, I took on more responsibility but with it the realization that I am not alone. It's true, I have unique powers and abilities but that doesn't make me the only one who can deal with crisis. I chose to bear that burden alone - which was needed for a time - I had to grow and learn in order to understand." She smiled slightly and looked up at Stesha, "But I get it now. Heshem didn't choose me because she wanted a drone who patrolled the pathways between the world, she wanted someone who could be both human and other. Who could understand both halves of the equation because without both, there is no flexibility..." Taylor shook her head and waved her hands, "I'm going on and on and its probably not helping, the short of it, is I realized that I can mentor and delegate and the more people I teach what I know to, the more the work is shared. Sure, I'll have times where I get busy but we all do but without my family, without Jack and JJ I'm so much less."
  9. "A summer wedding would be nice." Alex agreed, her thoughts already whirring along to plan it. She plucked at his shirt, "Mike... when you marry me... your secret identity. Well, it's probably pretty much a gone thing, don't you think? What should we do about it? I'm... Well, I'm known now. I'm famous and we're really gonna be wealthy. That alone would be enough but with the terminus thing, it's gonna be a zoo. Everything we do is going to be like that. At least until people are used to us being what we are. Do you want to get married like in secret? Keep it quiet?" The idea didn't sit well with her obviously as she turned up a worried face to him.
  10. "Aw," Alex said, unabashedly watching. She poked Mark with her fingertip even as she snuggled down against Mike's side once more, "That's sweet. Don't you think that's sweet? Alcohol makes for good mushy talks. Well, provided that's how your inhibitions lower. Some people would just be naked." She cleared her throat, like she hadn't just been talking about them about two feet away, "Okay, Trevor, it's your turn before there is mist and kissing again. Because, there is to be noooo naked time. That would be rude cuz it's not our jacuzzi. Maybe we should get one. Mike, should we get a jacuzzi?" Alex turned to look at him, obviously giving naked time the same sort of intense thought she gave to defeating evil.
  11. Mutt is picking up on the fact that the path of Phantom's unique magical signature keeps shifting depending on who is standing closest to the door. With JJ's more advanced knowledge arcane, he can tell that the doors are keying into who ever is standing closest and the nexus that they are connecting to changes. Occasionally, if Jack is standing near a door that is within a date range where he and Taylor were together, her magical signature shows up behind the door as it reroutes to synch into Jack's timeline. When he steps away, the signature vanishes.
  12. And now, let's do a few notice checks as I think it is dramatically appropriate 15! Five, really invisible castle? What did I ever do to you.
  13. Alex giggled at him and kissed the blunt fingertip against her lips gently. "We're a pair. You think if we get all this stuttering and stammering out of the way, we'll be less likely to do it on our wedding night?" She looked up at him, "Speaking of which, when do you wanna get married?"
  14. "Oh, Stesha," Taylor sighed. She wasn't a physically demonstrative person, so she reached out to gently pat one of her friend's hands gently, "I know. I so, so know where you're coming from... because not that long ago, I was totally that person in my relationship. Jack and I had some terrible fights. It's really hard to find time when you're both super heroes to stay together as a family. I think, it's worse when you're both heroes, because you take for granted that the other person will understand that the world just has to be saved again. I had to really reevaluate my priorities. But, we worked through it. So will you. Probably with less broken furniture."
  15. "He's a little lethargic in the sunlight. Or mellow. But, I think its also a self preservation instinct. When threatened, vampires have a natural tendency towards camouflage. They're strikers more than brute force hunters, especially the line that Jack and JJ are descended from. Which is fortunate. Most vampires can't stand sunlight at all, they burn. For them, though, its just depletes their preternatural abilities and causes mild discomfort." Taylor smiled down at her son, her dimples flashing in her cheeks, "I will, I'll try and take him some time this week. I've... I've been missing out on a lot lately."
  16. Dead Head is on tonight! He will notice that the way the numbers change correspond to a date format. IE, 20101214 is really 2010-12-14. Meanwhile, Mutt will be acting vaguely confused as if he is finding and losing the trail over and over again as if what is beyond the doors is changing. He will 'alert' several times on different doors only to lose the trail when JJ gets too close to the door. Those dates are all from before JJ was born as is the hallway that you are currently standing in. Time puzzles! You can all blame my current Doctor Who obsession.
  17. "I'm pretty sure that isn't the way this game is supposed to be played but okay." Alex agreed goodnaturedly once she'd finished oggling Mike's display. She winked at him and nodded to show that he could stop demonstrating the fruits of their labor, so to speak. She sank back into the bubbles and steepled her fingers together like she was contemplating world domination. "Okay for truth, let's hear... what your faaavorite super hero collectible is. And dare. Hrm. Recite the Freedom League members, alphabetically not chronologically."
  18. "Unfortunately, much of my resources are tied up in the headquarters for Young Freedom and AEON's needs. I am sadly not very liquid right now in my assets. That said, I would be happy to volunteer what I can bring to bear in such an endeavor." Alex said after a few moments of thought of what she had to offer. "I will have to regretfully abstain from work on any weaponry projects for personal reasons."
  19. Okay, I can't come up with a good metric other than straight int checks. If you have something that you think would give you a boost to recognizing numeric patterns, let me know and I'll give you a bonus. And I will post up the reaction for what Mutt notices as well once I have those checks.
  20. 15 Oh, invisible castle, my old friend. HP to reroll. 30!
  21. "Sorry, he's teething." Taylor explained and she went to go wrest the throw pillow from him and provide a more appropriate substitute. "He won't eat anything that isn't part of his limited diet and he can't choke, so he should be fine. He's hard on the upholstery though. Jack and I are constantly repairing the couch from teeth marks." Taylor shook one of the toys a few times until he latched onto that and started to keep himself a bit busy with lots of growling and hissing. The adult JJ probably found displays like this more than a little humiliating. That might be why the elder time displaced version was so frequently absent. "You sure you're doing okay?"
  22. Nullify Field 10 (40 Feet) (All Powers; Extras: Area [50-ft. Burst, General], Duration [Concentration]; Flaw: Range [Touch]; Drawbacks: Only Magical and Dimensional Descriptors -1) {39}
  23. "It does not belong here, it will - provided my spell is sufficient - snap back to the space beyond once its ties are cut. Hopefully, this will not cause the good doctor too much discomfort. But better pain than insanity." Unlike most casters the two had probably seen before, Phantom made no gestures or invocations. Instead, she gathered up the power in her palm and then without much warning or fanfare, thrust her intangible hand glowing with power right into Archeville's skull.
  24. "Okay... Uhm, what did you plan to do until then?" Alex asked softly, reaching up to trace light fingertips over his cheek. She smiled at him, her eyes shining with all of her emotions. Alex paused again to admire her sparkling engagement band and then cupped his cheek, "Tonight, I mean. Where are you sleeping?" Alex took a deep breath and then rushed out with. "I wanna sleep with you. No! Not like that, just... you know. To sleep. I want to fall asleep curled up against your chest. That's all. Please?"
  25. "Oh, that's an idea. Have you taken him there or just to the park?" Taylor asked, realizing uncomfortably that she didn't know where the baby sitter had been taking JJ during the days she'd had him. She reached down to help JJ reposition the bottle when he started snarling as his fang was stuck and tweaked. "Usually, I've been pretty house bound but after his birth, I think that's probably just a bit overcautious. We do tend towards that in this family as you've probably noticed."
