Talya chuckled and put a reassuring hand on the small of Elena's back. "You are a little overwhelming, darling, just give her a few minutes in private.... actual private... and I think she'll be able to process it and be back to her normal self in no time." She shook her head, diverting the plate over to Elena while she took the packet and gave it a dubious look. Ace's remedies half the time were strange headhunter medicine but even Talya couldn't deny they were effective. "You and your fondness for cowboys, Ace."

"I've stopped sleeping. No, really, I noticed it around the third day or so. I still haven't figured out exactly why." Taylor said with a wry twist to her lips. Jack had been privy to that panicked conversation when Taylor'd stopped to do the math. Nothing bothered her like realizing she'd lost another basic human need without noticing. She still could sleep, thankfully, she just didn't need to. It had its ups and downs but one of the pluses was it did give her more chances to have time with Jack. She sobered after greeting her teammates. Really, more family than team, strange as they all were. Then it was down to business. "Hellion and I received a distress message from one of the members of Next Gen, Seven. She and her teammates are trapped in another realm, one right up our ally and no one else's. I'm sure as you all know, when I say that, it means that its going to be unpleasant." Taylor smiled grimly below the shadow of her mask, "But its our kind of job. They're on a near Earth. In this one, however, Freedom City was overrun with vampires. Which means that our best bet is to track down Jack's alternate and... replace him for a little while with our own model so we don't waste time take on legions of vampires with unknown powers and abilities."

"Oh, sweet Christ, Ace. This place is full of teenagers." Talya muttered to him as she scooted around, feeling for once out of place in her retro-40s style clothing and peep toes. "You could have told me. I'd have dug out my jeans and my angst for this. Oh, hello, Heyzel. It's good to see another... adult in the mix. I wasn't aware that you were musically inclined. I do actually enjoy the sounds of a lap harp or are you more of a trumpet angel?" Talya asked it politely, keeping any sort of mirth to herself as she wasn't really laughing at the angel, more the absurdity of the entire situation.
-
Talya sighed, what was up with these in the middle of broad daylight raids for goodness sake. In her day... shaking that off, she slunk to the back of the group and with a few quick tugs and a wriggle slipped her costume into place in record time before ghosting up along side one of the magicians. These kids did have some good ideas though. For example, Bombshell elbowed him in the face before she made with the pithy comments rather than the other way around. She could get used to this decade. "Hey, occult rituals are on the first floor. Didn't you blokes get a program?" She said with a grin when her presence become noticeable. She wiggled her fingertips at Jack and Grim in quiet greeting, rather blase about the man she'd just smacked.
-
Bombshell will be making with the punchy to the nearest magician after sneaking up on them. Her stealth is a auto 30. 1d20+9=27 That's a surprise attack making it a DC24 TOU save if memory serves.
-
Bombshell laughed and touched the delicate shape of her mask with gloved fingertips. "Alright. Fair enough. Now, if I win, you let me drag you to a museum and you can't give me any suspicious looks that I might have lapsed into old habits. Terms set, now for the game itself." She turned around and pointed to the highest building in West End. "I'm going towards that. There's a spire on top that I'll try to get my gloved hand on. If you can stop me before I get there, the match is yours. I touch it before you touch me and the game is mine. Sound fair?"
-
Ace was dragging a blonde by the arm before she straightened up looking somewhere between amused and resigned. She pointed out in a bit of a nonsequitor to those who hadn't been privy to the earlier discussion, "You got shot in Munich in '45 if memory serves correctly. Please forgive my compatriot's ill manners. He's having trouble passing that drivers test they mandate for senior citizens. I'm Natalya Browning and this... Oh, well, that probably doesn't actually need to be said."
-
"Oh, I rather doubt that," Talya murmured with a smirk. She reached up to lace her hands behind her head, rocking lightly from one foot to another. As if her mind was made up, she grinned suddenly and nodded to herself, "I think I like you, Jack of all Blades. Now, lets see... a race! I do love my games but they aren't any fun without stakes. If you win and, honestly, I'd give you the long odds... what would you want?"
-
"Time travel? Or is it an existential extension of the fact that the Void is all times and places? An accident or are you a fragment of the baby's psyche made manifest? That last seems unlikely. There's no drain from one to the other." Taylor asked, her questions rapid fire after her long silence as she'd pondered the possibilities. She scooted around the poker that Jack was holding and went up to JJ, stretching up on her tiptoes. She smiled, a quick flash that dimpled both cheeks and reached up to cup his face between her hands, "Look at you, you've got Jack's eyes. And his height! You must be the tallest Chun ever." Nevermind that he was a Faretti. Taylor beamed at him, her touch gentle before she said kindly, "Are you stuck?"
-
"Of course, come in and have a seat," Taylor said from where she stood in the center of her library, books and scrolls whizzing back and forth through the air as if carried by invisible hands. She was dressed for work, with the dark cloak pooling out around her feet and writhing in palpable tension. She waited for Jack to come in and snatched a scroll from the lot, heading back over to her desk with it. Somehow, despite not being the most graceful, Taylor never tripped over the cloak that writhed around her legs, either from practice or magic. The jewel at her throat pulsed with a dark light that gave the already eerie library, a truly arcane cast. "It's not good. I know of this place and at least we are the best suited to go. At least... one of us is." She flipped the scroll out along the desk running her fingertips before she gave Jack an unreadable look. "Its a world... of vampires."
-
Less than a minute later, Taylor and Jack popped into the living room with Taylor back in her civvies, having left the costume behind. As JJ's mother was generally a jeans and tank tops person, it was clear she and Jack had been out for the evening before being summoned back home as she was currently wearing both heels and makeup. Taylor checked quickly on the baby and then turned her attention to the man in the Avenger costume, "I think you can take that off now."

Bombshell rocked back on her heels and let out another one of those husky laughs. She ennunciated clearly, her accent becoming a bit more pronounced as she gave him a flourish and a bow. "Mid-immortality-crisis. I picked up this little aversion to aging during the war and I've been consigned to youthful good looks ever since. I hope you're not one of those sorry lads afraid of an older woman. Really, as far as immortals go, I'm just a babe in the woods." She grinned and straightened, "However, any old lady jokes and I'll be most displeased."
-
"Supervillian? Flatterer. I'm afraid I never made that auspicious circle. Never actually been willing to dangle loved ones dramatically over ledges or had nearly enough minions, I'm afraid. I prefer world class thief, personally, but when I say it, it sounds like bragging." Bombshell grinned and then added with a drawl, "Ex-thief, of course." She nimbly bounced back down to where Jack was although not within arm's reach. "Of course, we have some similarities. In my case, it's more of a mid-immortality-crisis than the growing pains of youth. Still, its much easier to sell the world on something when you know what that something is. First rule of the spy game. Well, second rule at least."

"It's a cry for help," Taylor's voice responded from under Phantom's cowl, still shaking off the girl's fear, "From children who have gotten drastically in over their heads, I'm afraid. Jack, we'll probably need the whole team for this. Will you gather them while I see what I can scry out from the library? There isn't much time." Her gloved fingertips brushed his cheek in mute apology before she turned intangible and floated up through the ceiling, heading for the mystical heart of the home.

Alex kept her fingers threaded through Mike's and smiled brightly at both Mark and Chris as they all trooped into the yard. She waved with her free hand, the light glinting off the plastic and glittery bangles around her wrist. She was back in her usual bright colors, a cheery printed tanktop and a pair of jeans. Her red curls were pulled back with sparkly butterfly barrettes. "Hey, guys! How's it going?"
-
Talya put her fingertips to the bridge of her nose as she made a slightly pained face, her eyelids closing for a moment as she tried to assimilate the mental download. It took her a few seconds of disorientation before she was able to sort through things, "Darling, one of these days your going to blow a synapse in my poor entirely mortal brain. The words alone would have sufficed. Its hardly the first time I've had friends you don't approve of." "Ace, my darling. I don't suppose you have advil hidden about in your pockets along with all of those trinkets?" Talya waited until Elena released Ace to give him her own hug and a kiss on the opposite cheek. "Also, if you call me old, I will knock you into the pool and I know how fond of that coat you are."

Taylor hmphed softly at Jack's statement and gave him the narrow eyed look that said blasting wasn't completely off the table just yet. She frowned at the commentary, "Oh, lord, you're not having it out with the were's again, are you?" Taylor wrinkled her nose in the way that made it look like 'werewolf was' was on par with 'toilet that keeps clogging' on the spectrum of annoyance factor. "They're such a fractious lot. Always with the dominence games." Oh, irony.
-
"Why, thank you. I appreciate the gesture very much," Talya said genuinely and then chuckled as the girl dashed off to see what treat Elena had procured. "Lovely girl. Oh, I do know someone other than Ace, after all." She gave Moira a lazy sort of wave as the goddess made the rounds and another quick flash of teeth in an amused smile, even as she said an aside to Elena, "Hope she didn't bring her angel friend. Nice man but not a party sort."

Alex turned her face into Mike's shoulder, letting some of the tension leach out of her frame as she leaned on the strength offered. She dutifully relayed, "Mark's on his way. Erin's not coming." 'Mike...?' It was all she said down their bond but it was a wordless request for his support and absolution. Alex's shields were battered from the emotions running high and this next little encounter was unlikely to be much better. If not worse. If Alex could have hidden in his brain, she would have.

Taylor Chun, the alter ego of Phantom, was in the process of cleaning out yet another unused room in the mansion when the cry for help came through. There was a collossal crash as the couch she'd been levitating out of the way dropped the four feet back to the ground, splintering the old floorboards in the process as the mystic's attention was diverted by the message thundering in her ears. Her costume exploded out of the amulet without any mental prompting. Heshem was less than subtle when she felt her Champion had things to do. "Jack!"
-
Well Taylor is going to port in next to Grim. Is she getting shot at? Cuz I'd like to roll that before my post. :D
-
Shoot, Taylor thought as she dove through the crowd after the man only to come up short when he slipped into their ranks. Hopefully, he was hoping to get the drop on her, but either way, she should go find Jack. Taylor slipped back out of the church carefully, heading for the alley that she'd been hoping to draw the madman to. For a moment, Taylor felt uneasy. She remembered all too well the whip lash that had stolen her powers as it had bit into her skin. Shaking herself, Taylor forced the memories back. That was why this was so important. His prejudice and skill put everyone like them at risk. He had to be stopped!

"Elena does give the best presents," Talya agreed with a small smile and held out one hand to Lynn, her smile cheerful and warm, "Natalya Browning. I'd say 'the' Natalya Browning but that just makes me sound like Ace and believe me, people never said it the same way that they did Ace's name. I've always had a... drastically different reputation. The pleasure's all mine. Happy birthday, I might add. I feel terrible coming empty handed but Elena was concerned anything I provided might be taken, how shall I put it... amiss. I will simply have to owe you one for when I know your tastes better." Her hand if Lynn took it was warm and the grip was firm but not overly strong. "You have a lovely home."

"Wise move. Quick too," Bombshell commented as he adjusted for her knee. She laughed then - a low and husky sound - and with some sort of strange twist and flip, used her foot against the wall to shoot up and out of his hands before vanishing abruptly. She reappeared at the top of the wall, balanced on her toes on the ledge and swaying like a dancer, "On the matter of the hero work, I rather think you have the usual up and comer problem. I've seen it before. You're not the old respected set and you're not the young and idealistic bunch fresh from school. You're the, oh, young adult set. The older group thinks you should get a hair cut and fly right. The younger set thinks your putting on airs. Once you all figure out who you are, proving it to everyone else will be much easier. Now... think you can keep up with me, hero?"
