  1. "Campus curfew," Erin shrugged, putting down the ball and walking over to join the guys at the weights. None of the weights were in her class, so she picked up one of the heavy ones and started playing with it, tossing it from hand to hand like a ball. "You can go around on campus, but you can't leave. There's some stuff to do if you don't sleep, you can come here, or go to the library. There's some video games in the big dorm commons, but I don't really know how to play any of them." She shrugged. "It's better than studying all night. You probably won't have to study too much, if you're an okay student, especially in the summer. Most of the people here are just taking maybe one or two classes, or powers training. I missed some school, so I'm catching up this summer. You'll have to talk to your RA about music or dancing, I guess. There's not much around here." She sent a wry smile in Mark's direction. "We went to a concert not too long ago, but the entertainment wasn't really the music, it was the crowd. But I guess that's what happens when you get a city full of superpeople."
  2. "Well, there's a curfew," Erin told him, absently rebounding and tossing back the basketball with one hand while she talked to James. "You're supposed to let your RA know when you're going out. And you're supposed to stay out of trouble when you go out, of course. Everybody knows about Claremont, but if you start showing off with your powers and bust something up or someone gets hurt, you're in big trouble." She shrugged. "I don't go off campus that much," she admitted. "I've got ten tutoring sessions a week, so it's mostly studying and training. But Mark's been here three years." She looked over to Mark, dribbling the ball idly instead of tossing it back for once. "Any rules I'm forgetting?"
  3. "Whoa..." It only took a few moments for Stesha to get into the spirit of the moment, singing along with the "Da-da-dada-DA-DA" portions and bobbing her head in time to the music. It was inspiring enough that she pried the top off the second bottle with no concern for police intervention and had another drink. She wanted to be very prepared to go see Jack. It was a terrible idea, of course, but right now that just made it seem funnier. They pulled up in front of a mostly dark apartment building and parked in a loading zone, something that probably wouldn't get them towed this late at night. Stesha climbed out of the car and leaned against it for a moment, getting her balance and her bearings. "Hey, this isn't that far from where I live," she realized aloud. Cradling the bottle like a baby, she tested her footing, then stepped up onto the sidewalk. "I'm going to tell him he shouldn't treat people like that!" she told Moira. "It's not right to put people in your plans and embarrass them, then make them feel bad about it afterwards. Even... no! Especially if you're a superhero!"
  4. "Don't play basketball against him," Erin advised James. "It doesn't matter what the spread is, or how good you are. It's like betting against the house in Las Vegas, but worse. But if you're on his team, it's pretty cool." She held up her hand so Mark could throw her the ball, then made a basket of her own. "I've only been here since the beginning of June. Alex and Mike and I all came for the summer session. Not much happens on campus in the summer, but there's training and field trips and a few sports leagues. Food's pretty good, if you're into that." She jogged under the basket and tossed the ball back to Mark. "I'll rebound for you for a few minutes, if you want, but I don't know why you even bother."
  5. "And that's just about enough criminal activity, right?" Erin snapped to Edge. In one fluid movement she was up, skirting the table to stand behind Chris. Unceremoniously, she plucked him from the chair with no apparent effort, holding him with one arm around his waist. "We're getting out of here." Still moving very quickly, she headed for the door and out into the back alley.
  6. Using move-by action, Erin picks up Geckoman (19 to grab,, +23 grapple against 22 DC).
  7. Erin yelped in pain and shock as the red beam of light hit her across the back while she was fighting the robot. For a moment she looked stunned and hurt, but once again, she managed to shake it off. Her eyes narrowed dangerously as she looked at this new and potentially deadly foe, but first things came first. With the robot on the ropes, she gave it another blow to the head, knocking its top clean off. While it sputtered and died, she swarmed up its body like a monkey, twisting and weaving, so that it was hard to know where she planned to attack from next.
  8. Erin krongs the robot with the other robot's head. The first roll sucked, so I'm spending another HP. Second also sucked, but she winds up with a 27. Power attack and All-out attack for 3, leaving her damage at 13, plus whatever the robot head does, and her defense at +7. Using her Skill Mastery of Acrobatics, she performs an Acrobatic Bluff for 16 against Nerd Boy. If he doesn't save, he's flat footed against her next round.
  9. That lightsaber does connect, thanks to the all-out attack, leaving Wander bruised and stunned. Spending a hero point to immediately shake the stun, the bruised fades automatically at the top of the next round. But now she's mad. =)
  10. The robot hits Wander but it doesn't hurt.
  11. Erin shrugged with a rueful sort of smile. "Mine's not very exciting, just sort of dangerous. Strong, fast, hard to hurt. Most of the fight training I do is in not destroying the things I hit. But there's people around here with all kinds of weird powers. So is your family really rich or something? So that you have your own power testing room at home?" She pushed the door open to the gym. "I guess that would make all this stuff less impressive."
  12. Although she doesn't even want to watch, Wander rolls a 29.
  13. Erin had one arm resting on the table by now, chin propped on her fist as she watched the music. She'd already eaten both her granola bars, mostly for something to do, and was now mostly waiting for the thing to be over. She considered that a success, actually. Feeling bored and restless in the middle of a crowd of strangers was a lot better than being so edgy she couldn't even sit still. When Mark handed her the shirt, she turned it over and looked at it. "Thanks," she said, a little dubiously, but didn't put it on. She also didn't turn it down, though. An extra shirt was a substantial addition to her wardrobe, and not something to be sneezed at. "What do you expect to happen?" Chris and his "girlfriend" didn't seem ready to bust up the joint, at least not at the moment.
  14. ((Edited for lack of actual enemy)) Erin dodged as the big demon came roaring up at her, managing to deflect but not entirely avoid the flaming claws. They caught her across the shoulder, and though it looked like it hurt, she shook it off almost immediately. She braced to attack, but was surprised when the demon, all the demons, suddenly disappeared. Not taking more than a moment to wonder about it, she hopped up on the railing and did a flying leap across the stands and down to the first big robot. Still using her metal robot head as a makeshift cudgel, she smashed the big robot, trying to knock its metal block off.
  15. Scratch all the stuff that was here before, it was immensely cool, but it never happened. Erin jumps to the nearest big robot for her move action, does a full power-all-out-attack, and rolls a 29. Her damage is 15, her defense is +5.
  16. Wander is bruised but she'll shake it as a free action next round.
  17. Erin took the lead and headed for the gym, letting Mark keep the role of tour guide along the way. She did chime in long enough to say "The gym isn't the place you go to work on your superpowers. There are other places, like the simulator Mark tore up, for that. You can sort of get away with using powers in the gym, especially if they're ones you can't turn off, but they get pissy if you break anything." She grinned ruefully. "It's a good place to learn control, at least. So what do you do, superpowers-wise?" she asked James.
  18. "What you've got's probably fine, unless you want a real workout," Erin said, looking him over. "They'll give you aptitude testing and stuff before they start giving you actual PE homework. Mr. Archer's the resident sadist around here," she said with a look of pure dislike, "he'll probably be the one to put you through your paces. I usually spend a couple hours a day in the gym. It doesn't close, so it's a good thing to do if you don't have to sleep very often." She stepped back into the room for a minute, revealing a layout very similar to the rest of the dorm rooms, then came back with a plastic water bottle. "On the first day, though, you might as well just see the sights."
  19. "Sounds like fun," Erin said, her polite smile warming a little. "Not many people around here have their own cars." She glanced over at Mark again. "Alex isn't around, but knowing Mark here, you're bound to run into her if he wants to. I was just about to head for the gym and do some training. There are fewer real classes in the summer, but you have to bust ass to make up for anything you're behind on to make up for it."
  20. "Nice to meet you," Erin replied, reclaiming her hand and putting it behind her back in sort of a relaxed parade-rest stance. "It's a pretty big campus for a high school. You'll probably need a few days to take it all in." She cocked her head at Mark's last words. "What kind of car?" she asked curiously.
  21. After a moment the door swung open, with Erin standing behind it. She was tall and muscled for a girl, James noticed, really her only distinguishing feature aside from the fact that she was wearing a Claremont workout uniform, which seemed to involve mostly blue and gold Spandex. Even that wasn't terribly interesting, because there wasn't that much to see. "Hey Mark," she said, while giving the new guy a coolly assessing look. It was the sort of look that said she was deciding whether she could take him in a fight, not that she was going to pick one, but as a point of information. After a moment, she stuck out her hand with a small smile. "I'm Erin. Welcome to Claremont."
  22. "What is he doing?" Erin demanded of Alex, watching as Chris blithely ignored the warning. Her voice was a little louder than the hum of the crowd, but not to the point of yelling, yet. "Didn't he get the message?" She pushed her water glass away and shoved out her chair, looking more than ready to go and drag her classmate bodily out of danger, no matter how much he might like to be there.
  23. With the demons around her gone, Erin leapt agilely over an entire section of somnolent fans, landing in a cluster of robots patrolling another aisle. Still fighting without a word or an extraneous noise, she clocked the first one in what passed for a chin, knocking its head unit clean off. Erin caught the metal head in midair, then used it as a bludgeon to decapitate its two cohorts as well, with a noise that sounded a lot like a car crash. Dented metal head in her hand, she looked around again, assessing the progress of the fight.
  24. Hokay. In this round Wander does not charge but she is still using All out and Power attack, and she is Inspired, which gives her an Attack of +13, damage of 15, and Defense of +5. First Robot, roll of 27. Second Robot, with Takedown: also 27. Third Robot, also with Takedown: 15, not so good, but since Edge hasn't gone yet, his Fortune benefit still applies, raising it to 20. Obviously, the second and third attacks only apply if the first roll was enough to knock the robot out. How'd I do?
