Midnight II Placeholder Text History Placeholder Text Costume and Appearance Placeholder Text Powers Placeholder Text Allies Placeholder Text Sidekick, HQ, Etc Placeholder Text Timeline 2010 Spring The Clock Strikes Twelve: Trevor Hunter transfers to Claremont Academy to finish the school year and is greeted by Mark Lucas and his friends. The taciturn teen is happy to let his new classmates do most of the talking and finds that his inherited codename comes with some cachet even if his powers pale next to those of his peers.Midnight Meeting: In the dormitory common room late at night, Trevor meets Erin White, also known as Wander. She shows him the Academy's Doom Room, a holographic combat simulator, and suggests he might be a good fit for Young Freedom. Trevor is impressed by her abilities but suspects his admiration may go a bit beyond strictly professional. The Wolf and The Night: Midnight encounters the werewolf Lukos while hunting criminals and after a brief skirmish the pair agree to work together toward their common goal.New Sound: Trevor meets another new student at Claremont, Warren Wilder, known at the time as Rift and latter simply Riff.Midnight Express: Erin accompanies Trevor of a nighttime patrol and he shows off a bit by talking them over the cables of the Pramas Bridge on the Night Cycle. Stunned by the loss they accompany their friend's family to the hospital where Rick Lucas has a breakdown, unleashing previous dormant reality warping powers that wash over the city...House of L: Wake-Up Call: In the new reality crafted by Rick Lucas everyone seems to have gotten what they most wanted; the original Midnight is still vital and active with Trevor acting as his sidekick, Kid Midnight. But standing over his parents' grave site with two sets of conflicting memories, Trevor is compelled to track down his friends and try to discover what is or isn't real.House of L: Bringing Down the House: The teens find that Mark has been revived in this new world but is imprisoned in a twisted version of his family home to keep him out of harm's way. Trevor infiltrates the house and breaks Mark free so that he can join the others in confronting his father.House of L: The End: Rick restores the world to its rightful state, saving his son's life in the process. Victory is not without cost, though, as Rick is forced to leave that reality and his family behind and each of the young heroes must contend with the secret wishes they've denied themselves in the process.House of L: Eve of Midnight: Trevor confronts Eve, who is bitter over losing the use of her voice a second time in the wake of House of L. Thanking her for helping to restore a world where his parents still live, Trevor strikes up a friendship with the petite Frenchwoman, who is similarly stubborn and driven.Monsters in the Streets! - Southside: Massive monsters run rampant through the streets of Freedom! Midnight teams up with Arrowhawk, Freedom Angel and others to take down some of the mysterious titans.Life's Parade of Fashion: Trevor brings Erin to meet his family's tailor, the incomparable Frank Jr. Frank sets to work designing a formal dress for Erin and shares some stories about the age of mystery men, letting slip that Trevor has a history as a competitive swing dancer.Summer "...And I'm a Mutant.": The country watches as Alex Albright comes out as a metahuman by birth on national television. Trevor questions the wisdom of stepping into the light.Could've Danced All Night: Trevor and Erin attend the charity gala and make a bit of a splash. Even so after some nervousness the night goes well and Erin invites Trevor to the junior prom Alex has been planning.Jail Break: A massive riot at Blackgate Prison brings a laundry list of heroes out to stop the worst Freedom City has to offer from breaking free and causing chaos!Save Tonight: The off-campus prom promised to be the event of the season but when secrets come out in the worst way possible the fun turns to heartbreak and violence. Trevor joins in the damage control but friendships are left ruined. In the fallout he and Erin manage to share one quiet dance, listening to music through his earbuds.Midnight Bloom: A mystery chemical agent is killing plant life and Fleur de Joie seeks the help of renowned chemist Travis Hunter to discover its source. Trevor joins Fleur as Midnight to stop the dastardly defoliation! At the Mountains: Mark brings Young Freedom along to check on the Centurion's Sanctum, a duty inherited from his father. They find Dr. Stratos and Medea intent on freeing Superior from the Zero Zone. When Medea uses her magic to control Erin's mind Trevor and James have to work together to stop her long enough to break the spell.Lights at His Back, Stars in His Eyes: Greeting another new student to Claremont, Trevor finds that his eyes are increasingly light-sensitive and worries what that might mean about his developing metahuman powers. The Other Guys: Still in possession of the spaceship from Rick Lucas' alternate version of history, James raises the idea of proactively taking the fight to dimensions in need of saving to Trevor, Erin and Eve.Just Another Class Trip: Mr. Lumins, better known as Dark Star, takes a class of Claremont Students to an alien world for a field trip. Thanks to the support of Erin and their friends - and a timely shove from Eve - he begins to adapt to his new situation.Midnight Oil: Erin meets Trevor in the garage while he's working on the Night Cycle to tell him about James' confession of love. They agree that while they want to take things slowly they also want to continue deepening their relationship. She kisses him and he kisses her back.Fall A Trip Between Two Worlds: Trevor, Erin and Mark end up temporarily stranded on Earth-XX, a parallel world almost identical to Earth-Prime save that everyone's gender is reversed! Trevor gets along well enough with Tricia Hunter, encouraging her to pursue her feelings for the temperamental Arron White. A perfectly good pair of pants are ruined by glitter.Shadow in the Night: Midnight steps in to foil a mugging and ends up getting struck in the neck with a pipe by Carrie Wendle, after which she asks for his autograph.

Jack of all Blades Playlist Placeholder Text History Placeholder Text Costume and Appearance Placeholder Text Powers Placeholder Text Allies Placeholder Text Sidekick, HQ, Etc Placeholder Text Timeline 2009 Fall The Days of High Adventure: Jack is unexpectedly transported to a medieval version of Freedom City full of swords and sorcery! Not surprisingly it takes to his new surroundings fairly well and impresses the similarly displaced Dr. Archeville. This is a Stick Up: Patrolling the Fens, Jack happens upon a convenience store robbery being perpetrated by the showboating Captain Knievel! Our swashbuckling hero intervenes and gets a bruised rib and a pounding headache for his troubles.West End Warriors: Jack teams up with a couple of other heroes to take out some of Captain Knieval's growing army of thugs and criminals.Training in the Wharton State Forest: Jack is invited to a gathering of martial minded heroes in a secluded glade for some training and sparing. He meets the shovel-wielding zombie Dead Head and the secretive teleporter Blink among others. The Big Guns: A malfunctioning flying motorcycle from an alternate dimension deposits the high-tech but old fashioned cowboy Colt in the streets of Freedom City and Jack is there to greet him. The disagree on choice of sidearms but share an appreciation for fine coats. The Interceptors: Issue #0: Jack receives an invitation from Dr. Archeville via the gregarious AI VINCE to join a new team of heroes: the Interceptors! Colt and Blink are familiar faces but most of the team are new to Jack: the enthusiastic Grimalkin, high-profile Velocity, sullen Razorwing and arrogant All-Star, the latter of whom inspires an immediate dislike in the swordsman. Still, Jack is cautiously interested and agrees to sign up.Carnival in the Park: Erik and his sister Ellie head to the carnival for a rare night off but run into Dead Head and a number of other heroes when things inevitably get a little more interesting than a fun house and ferris wheel!Ghoulies and Ghosties and Long-Legged Beasties: Lynn insists on hosting a Hallowe'en party at the Interceptors' brownstone and Ellie insists on tagging along with her brother. He agrees on the condition that she adopt the uninspired alias 'Jill' around his teammates, still reluctant to reveal his secret identity to them.Interceptors: A Chance Meeting: Jack and Blink try to hash out some of their differences but with both of them being evasive they find they can related better though sparring. Unsurprisingly this turns to borderline cheating and various states of undress almost immediately.Interceptors: Setting Up Shop: The Interceptors begin to settle into the brownstone in earnest, with Colt setting up a workshop for his equipment. The friction between Jack and All-Star continues to cause the team grief.Invasion! - West End: Freedom City is overrun with demons! The Interceptors rush into battle to save as many civilians as they can but are overwhelmed by the sheer numbers and power of the monstrous horde. Jack gives his life holding the line only for a spell to undo the day's events and restore him to life. He can't quite loose the nagging feeling that he didn't come back quite right, however...2010 Winter Interceptors: New Recruits: In the wake of the demonic invasion the Interceptors attempt to replenish their numbers but none of the prospective new members really stick.Fisticuffs Fundraiser!: The remaining Interceptors are invited along with several other heroes to participate in a charity boxing match. After meeting Ace Danger, a personal hero, Jack manages to beat Grimalkin in their bout with some showboating and sneaky tactics but get his comeuppance when his super-senses react badly to Fulcrum's radioactive powers.Geiger Gal: After the Fisticuffs spectacle Jack tracks down Fulcrum and realizes that they have a shared history. Mona is concerned by the changes in Erik's personality but he's more worried about the terminus radiation she's leaking and decides to ask Dr. Archeville about a solution.Surely You Jest: Jack teams with Jester, Breakdown and others to stop a warehouse robbery. A telepathic attack nearly causes him to loose control as he falls back on the hellfire powers he's developed since the demonic invasion.Interceptors: Intervention: Colt and Grim have had enough of the angry, aggressive shift in Jack's personality and confront him. Although he's initially hostile they eventually convince him to reveal his hellfire corruption and they begin working on a plan to remedy the situation as a team.Interceptors: Liquid Therapy: Jack and Colt head out to grab a beer and end up in a bar fight with an entire college football team. It turns out to be a great way to blow off some steam! The Witch Doctor is IN: Lynn calls in a favour with a friend on the police force who also happens to have penchant for studying the occult. With her help Erik travels deep into his own soul to defeat the demonic corruption that has taken root there once and for all!Life's Bazaar: Jack and several other heroes find themselves in an unfamiliar fantasy city. Colt needs to find some pants. Jack wonders if this is becoming a habit. One of These is Not Like the Other: Dark Star is one of Freedom City's most powerful heroes so when a malicious alternate version appears with ill intent his friends recruit Jack to the cause as one of the few heroes capable of injuring the energy being! Jack doesn't make the best first impression but does prove effective in the resulting fight.S.H.A.D.O.W. Over Freedom: With a little luck Edge is able to lead Ace Danger and Jack to a hidden SHADOW base in the heart of Freedom City itself! The trio dismantle the evil operation with extreme prejudice.Spring He Fights Meta Than You: With the Atom Family unavailable Jack takes on the mighty Meta-Grue with the assistance of wisecracking teen hero and ace pilot Geckoman in a spectacular, widely televised smackdown!Furry Fracas - Mythological Creatures: A number of heroes from Ani-Earth arrive on Earth-Prime to help defeat their version of the Factor Four! Jack meets his own counterpart, the antler-wearing rabbit Jackalope of all Blades!Green With Envy: Mind controlling plants turning suburbanites into zombies?! That just won't do!Public Service: A new gang is proliferating a wickedly addictive drug on the streets of the West End and Jack and Avenger are in agreement that it ends that night. Taking down a warehouse of product first, they track it back to its source. The Dragon Wakes: Dracula lives again! Avenger, Phantom and their friends fight to protect their infant son while other allies, the Interceptors included, are kept occupied with hordes of rats and other minions!Monsters in the Streets! - Greenbank: With massive monsters wreaking havoc across the city the Interceptors engage the closest of the gargantuan foes alongside Fulcrum.Fisticuffs 2: The Opening Credits: An informal underground tournament for heroes is organized for fun and to hopefully teach everyone some new tricks. Irked by Wander's treatment and harsh words for Dead Head, Jack sticks with an old trick: alienating and upsetting young people.Fisticuffs 2: Dynamo vs. Jack of all Blades: Jack squares off in the ring with the fast-talking speedster Dynamo and finds himself in the strange position of telling someone else to dial back the banter and smack talk.IN SPAAAAACE!: When an alien starship on a rescue mission is shot down over Freedom City, Jack and a group of heroes volunteer to take the place of the crew and rescue a Lor princess from nefarious pirates!Summer Bananaphone: Jack and Taylor Faretti call a meeting with Erik in their civilian guises to discuss the Interceptors and their infant son. Erik has a hard time imagining anyone trying to hurt a baby, half-vampire or not, and doesn't take their concerns as seriously as they would have liked.Of Martyrs and Men: Erik encounters out-and-proud metahuman Alex Albright having trouble with a group of West Enders and lends a hand. Alex has plans to invest her company's considerable resources in the community; Erik does his best to convince her that she can't make decisions for other people just because she thinks she knows better. No Mercy: The alien Grue have launched a new invasion on Freedom City and the Interceptors team up with Young Freedom to protect Freedom City Medical Center from their assault! With massive monsters among the enemy ranks, Jack creates a larger energy sword than he's ever previously attempted!Interrupting Cow: At Dr. Archeville's request Avenger infiltrates the Interceptors' brownstone to test their security systems, finding them lacking. The Interceptors themselves don't appreciate the home invasion, however.A Case of Mistaken Identity: Jack runs into someone he initially mistakes for Avenger atop a West End rooftop. Seeing through the imposter's attempted bluffs he tires to learn who the dark figure really is!Me Like Hockey!: Erik and Ellie attend a Blades game but when the Crime League appears and holds the spectators in the Liberty Dome hostage Jack teams up with the Scarab and Valkyrie to save the day, though not before taking a nearly fatal bullet wound from Orion the Hunter's sniper rifle!Troubleshooter: Natalya Browning, the immortal sometimes-thief, sometimes-heroine known as Bombshell meets with Jack to discuss public relations and self-branding, though in practice they get considerably more flirting done than anything else.Interceptors: The Sweet Science of Stabpunching: Jack leads him teammates in a training exercise with power dampeners forcing them to rely on their skills rather than their special abilities. For a chance at punching the swordsman right in his smug face, how can they say no?The Legacy of Al Kazar: Happy Grimday!: Lynn's birthday party is attended by a veritable who's who Freedom City's heroic community. Jack hits on and is hit upon by a cavalcade of gorgeous, immortal women but ends up being kissed by the last one he expected."Concert Auditions. Second Floor, 2B.": Estelle de Havilland puts out the call for performs among the hero community with eye toward holding a charity event. Jack follows a winged figure in through the window and ends up belting out a tune with the aid of a creative use of his powers.Giant Dragon Bees: It falls to Jack and Wander to deal with a trio of semi truck-sized, talking, fire-breathing bees left over from the Bee-Keeper's latest scheme. Ultimately they find a solution that works for everyone and more or less bury the hatchet themselves, inventing a new move: the Dartboard Special!Crisis of Infinite Jacks: When a villain rips a whole in the barriers between dimensions Jack ends up meeting a number of different versions of himself, some familiar and some disturbingly different.Fall The Church of Swordology: The Espadas siblings attend Sunday mass with their mother only to wind up helping Freedom Angel fight of a supernatural menace!

Jill rolled her eyes at the disgusted outrage while rolling her entire body to avoid another volley of rifle fire from the similarly revolted hired guns. "How about you worry less about my-- 'Cat!" Whatever glib banter she'd been in the middle of delivering was cut short as one of the remaining soldiers, a heavily built woman with strands of dark hair sticking out from under her helmet, took advantage of the feline themed hero's distraction to tag him squarely in the chest, the smell of burnt flesh immediately competing with the fumes from the pile of sick. Wildcat didn't go down but from the way he staggered backward it was clear that it was only iron will power keeping him on his feet. "Enough," Jill snarled, inwardly berating herself for not wrapping up the skirmish more quickly before anyone could be seriously injured. Crackling blue light burst violently into a diffuse sphere around her right hand as she lifted it into the air then brought it down as though slapping a table. In response a force field with the rough shape of an open palm and the size of a bus crashed downward from overhead. Where it touched Wildcat and the teenager still recording everything with his shoulder mounted camera is passed through harmlessly but when it struck the gunmen it tossed them painfully into the pavement like insects beneath a flyswatter. Barely sparing a moment to make sure that they were all down for the time being, the Interceptor rushed over to Wildcat's side, steadying him with one hand. "Easy, Kitty, adrenaline and machismo are only going to take you so far." Her free hand glowed again with a softer, dappled hue, something like sunlight streaming through a leafy canopy. Without preamble she placed it over the smoking holes in his uniform and the pain almost immediately subsided, replaced with a gentle warmth that spread through his frame. "More tricks in my medicine bag than just 'puke powers', lucky for you. How you feeling?"

Jill O'Cure Standard Action: Using the 'Rocks Fall' option on Create Object. It's Selective, as well, so Wildcat doesn't have to worry about getting hit. Paramilitary Thugs Reflex Save vs DC 22: 4#1d20+6 11 9 18 21 Toughness Save vs DC 27: 4#1d20+6 24 7 22 23 Thankfully since outside of the leader they're all minions, that will knock them out. Out of combat, Jill will use her Healing power on Wildcat. It gives him a +12 bonus on his Recovery check; including his +3 Constitution that gives him +15 for a minimum roll of 16. That clears his Staggered Condition and thanks to the Total Extra has enough juice left over to take care of his Bruised condition, too. Also giving Wildcat a fresh HP because, well, that was being filmed... Now they just need to interrogate the leader of the hired guns!

Paramilitary Thugs Combined Attack vs Wildcat: 2#1d20+6 20 23 Combined Attack vs Jill O'Cure: 2#1d20+6 23 18 That's just a DC 21 Toughness Save for Wildcat again.

Set looked as startled as any of them when Langstrom collapsed in a twitching pile but once the phone rang his pursed lips spoke of annoyance more than shock. "She's performing some variation on the 'And I Have The Only Antidote' routine, I expect? Ugh. Tis one thing to draw from the classics but don't try to sell me water and call it beer. Sekhmet?" The last was called over his shoulder toward the window where the goddess in question had already dropped down onto the balcony, shifting into human form an the way down. She wasted no time stalking quickly into the room, looking between Langstrom and Gemmel. "Be thee well?" she asked the actress insistently before turning her attention to the star of The Guardian. The statuesque woman's hands glowed like miniature suns as she laid them upon the convulsing entertainer, her expression one of concentration. Within moments he had stopped shaking but his eyes did not open. After a quiet pause, Set asked, "...be that all?" The taller Heliopolian growled up at him before returning to tending to her patient. The redhead raised his hands in a calming gesture. "Not a criticism, naturally! We may need to deal with that travesty of taste after all, however," he admitted, giving Sharl a look and small shrug where the holographic young man was holding the phone.

"He did, un peu, oui," Jean agreed with Steve, leaning slightly closer to the edge of the roof to see where Chris had leapt but generally choosing to keep out of sight of those below. "Sent to keep an eye on the wily old man in the meantime, were you?" When the bald man continued to regard him impassively the aging fencer frowned slightly and cleared his throat. "Apologies, I'm not sure which one you are but you seem distinctly less lizard-themed, which is to your credit, ha!" That didn't get any reaction either and Jean was left to fold his arms and lean against one of Min's trellises. "So, it's to be that way, then? Very well! You will find I can be silent just as easily as-- hn." Something in the former Omegadrone's expression caused him to hold his tongue in earnest, waiting for Steve to give him something to work with. "We did not actually manage to enter the home," Nassor corrected with a sigh that suggested he knew quite well that this conversation was not going to go particularly well for him no matter what he said at this point, "and in fairness I did allude to some prior misbehaviour. Nor was I the only one failing to be entirely forthcoming though, yes, I appreciate the moral high ground has been compromised at this point, hence my prostrate posture, hm?" "Swell," Ellie drawled, expression cool as she stood in front of the swordsman with her hands on her hips. She didn't bother letting her powers bleed into the air around her hands in an intimidating light show; he already knew what she could do, she was sure. "In the spirit of honesty you should know that every word out of your mouth makes me want to punch you in the face more and more." Nassor actually cracked a small smile at that. "Would you believe I get that quite frequently?" "Not a shock, no. You have something to say, better spit it out." Coughing awkwardly the Dakanan nodded. "Of course, yes. Where to begin? Ah, well, it is important, I think, that you understand that when your father faked his death -- quite convincingly done! -- and the Mantle did not return as intended that alone was not enough to cause undue commotion though certainly a number of plans generations in the making were upset. Even when your brother surfaced and the connection to Pique was made the feeling was that the Tournament would either bring him into the fold as he should have been to begin with or else resolved the irregularity quite definitively. But when Denari was slain by, hmph, 'Staff' and that Mantle--" The long winded explanation was cut short as Erik's head abruptly protruded from the second storey window. "Hey! A little help?! It's time!" he shouted, waving emphatically with both arms before hastily ducking back inside. Muttering something unladylike, Ellie spun about on her heel. "Alright, priorities. Somebody toss this guy in a dimensional hole and we'll deal with him later, alright?" "Ah, I really do not think--" Nassor began to protest, looking between Stesha and Mara uneasily.

Kimber gaped and gave Indira a look of ultimate betrayal before burying her face in her hands with a sound that as somewhere between a pained groan and a peal of laughter. "I take it all back, you are the literal worst," she accused, refusing to look at her friend for all of two seconds before peeking through her fingers. "Ohmigoodness, I do not even know what to do with that," the poltergeist despaired even as the corners of her mouth twitched with a barely restrained grin. "Don't even pretend you don't know why that dress is... is..." She took her hands away from her face to gesture emphatically in front of herself, turning the deepest shade of cerulean yet and dissolved into a fit of giggles. "The worst!" she squealed breathlessly, still laughing.

The brunette slapped her free hand to the side of her face as she caught on. "Oh! Sign language! No, I'm sorry, I don't know enough," she apologized again, making it seem like something of a habit. With a regretful look she explained, "I really ought to! One of my best friends-- well, it's a really long story, actually, and I wasn't even there for most of it, so maybe never mind?" Twirling her parasol absently she looked over to the grave Vicki had been regarding so intently. "The people here appreciate it, for sure! Er. I mean, I'd assume, anyway. Seems like they would!" Giving the slightly shorter young woman a broad smile, she rocked energetically on her heels. "But I'm being totally rude! I'm Kimber, it's nice to meet you! I, uh, don't really shake hands, though, sorry. Also a long story!"

"I consider myself a pretty patient woman and I admit I don't have the whole story here," Jill announced, walking steadily forward with plasma bolts splashing ineffectively against her force field, her expression hard, "but people are getting sick and you chuckleheads are getting in my way." Without warning the glowing barrier of coherent blue light dropped away and the acrobatic metamagi became a blur of crimson and virulent green that ducked down into a somersault and came up too close for the leader of the group to bring his weapon to bear effectively. "That's a lousy place to be. Own medicine, taste of, et cetera, et cetera." A hand wreathed in a sickly, uneven glow cracked into the soldier's exposed face hard enough to produce an unpleasant sound were it collided with his nose and clamped on. The effect was immediate as the man toppled to his knees, complexion turned an ashy shade as he struggled to hold himself upright using his rifle as a crutch and emptied the contents of his stomach all over the pavement. "Hhuuurgh--!"

Kimber looked properly chastised, a small smile pulling at her lips between a fresh blush that this time had nothing to do with a shadow priestess. "Hee. Alright, alright, point taken!" She raised her hands in defense even if they would offer no more resistance to her friend's finger than her chest had. "...thanks, Indira. You always know how to keep perspective." She let her voice go quiet and her posture relax, feeling more than a little drained after unburdening herself. She sighed, supporting her chin in her hands. "I hope inviting Tarva along was a good idea. I want her to feel included but sweet strawberry preserves that dress. Hhhhn!" She gave the Kinigosi a distressed expression to match her tone.

The two well equipped enforcers on either side of Wildcat's unfortunate target didn't hesitate to open fire on the black clad vigilante, their rifles disgorging electric blue bolts of energy into the air, sizzling with the distinct scent of ozone. Anticipating where there barrels would be pointing by the time their fingers squeezed the trigger kept him out of the worst of the barrage but a pair of bolts still caught him in his left shoulder and forearm, stinging sharply like he'd just grabbed a red hot iron. Gritting his teeth carried him through but it was nothing he was looking to experience again if he could help it. The remaining three paramilitary thugs concentrated on Jill, coordinating their blasts with cool, methodical efficiency that spoke not just of training but experience. They might as well have been green recruits, however, as the masked medic twisted to the side then dropped nearly parallel to the parking lot before snapping up in a single, smooth motion that sent her into a graceful airborne spin. Bolts of energy left blackened marks on the unfortunate minivan behind her before she landed lightly with one hand raised, her expression cool and dismissive. The rest of the attack was intercepted by dinner plate sized force fields that appeared everywhere her attackers tried to aim.

A sudden gust of cold wind cut through the warmth of the midday sun and drew Vicki's attention over her shoulder to find another young woman standing just a few feet behind her, looking a little surprised to have been noticed. "Oh! Sorry!" the brunette exclaimed reflexively, bouncing slightly on her heels and blinking expressive, sea green eyes. The teen wore denim overall shorts over a black and white striped blouse with a brimmed black hat. The outfit seemed a little too dated for the year and a little too casual for the locale but the parasol that blocked the sunlight from touching a tan that suggested someone who enjoyed the outdoors was the most out of place. "I hope I'm not bothering you!" With a bright, friendly smile the girl took a step forward, waving with her free hand. Her accent was heavy enough to make it clear that she wasn't a New Jersey native. "Graveyards like this are always a little more active this time of year!" Vicki new she hadn't seen anyone else in the cemetery as she'd wandered over from the VFW ceremony but perhaps her new acquaintance had been standing behind one of the trees?

Trevor didn't answer right away and for a moment Erin wondered if he'd already given into exhaustion before realizing that the rise and fall of his back had become less regular rather than more. Thin trails of midnight mist had begun to waft about the headboard, seeping out of the small gabs between the pillow and Trevor's head. Rolling over and sitting up again with some difficulty thanks to his injured arm, gradually loosing the battle to keep his chin from shuddering as he silently opened his mouth, failing to find words as inky wisps rolled from the corners of his eyes. Giving up he buried his face alongside Erin's collarbone, shoulders shaking as he finally allowed the full weight of the loss wash over him.

Leaving Paige to speak with Jean in the living room, LaMarr followed Harry into the kitchen, stopping in the doorway with his arm's crossed. It wasn't so much that he was intentionally blocking the exit as it was the only natural result of his broad shouldered bulk but the effect was fairly imposing either way. "Lousy liar without the mask, Bottlecap," he rumbled in a resounding bass carefully restrained to well below his voice's bone shaking potential. Looking over at Harry's wife he ignored her suspicious look impassively and simply nodded his chin. "Ma'am." It seemed clear that Howard had been the one to call him and he wasn't about to let anyone use the 1-800-JUSTICE line and then brush it off; he might not have been for hire any more but nobody wasted his time.

What does Wail remember about Captain Freedom? Same stuff as the Scarab? Any specific anecdotes?

Trevor leaned into Erin's hands with an attempt to articulate that it had seemed like the sensible thing at the time that came out much more as a resounding groan. The layers of lean muscle across his shoulders were rarely fully relaxed but today they were knotted with rock hard bunches that made audible popping and cracking sounds under her fingers. "Just... didn't seem important," he admitted sheepishly, knowing full well how foolish it sounded out loud. He half-stifled a gasp as a particularly tense knot gave way, shoulders rising and falling in time with heavy breaths. "Should have kept the room tidier, sorry." Generally their combined sense of practicality meant that their shared living space was rarely out of order but his heart obviously hadn't been in picking up after himself for the past week.
