  3. Bliss
  4. Midnight signed too quietly for anyone but Redbird to hear, leaning over the handlebars as he watched Rachelle reunite with here parents. "One of these days get upgraded to 'scary princess'," he deadpanned, tucking the half-empty box of cookies into one of the motorcycle's compartments. "Perhaps I could give you some advice, hah!" the 'robot princess' guffawed in a considerably louder voice, well pleased by the successful end to their mission. "Though that seems a title perhaps better reserved for your shieldmaiden, eh?" Even as an electronically produced voice the autonomic machine intelligence managed to convey a broad, teasing grin. Grunting in agreement, Midnight looked around for Wander, only to find both she and Singularity missing from the crowd. It didn't take much of a detective to deduce where they might have gone. "...damn. Going to be awkward." Without further debate he throttled the acceleration and headed straight for the White family home.
  5. The mound of computronium shuddered under Maxima's assault, then cracked with a sound like sheering glass, the peak fracturing and falling to the smooth ground layer that surrounded it. Exposed by the damage were dark plates of metal, blackened by the heat of passing through the layers of the planet's atmosphere but unconverted by the nanite swarm. The scientist heroes each quickly deduced that they represented the remains of the bomb itself, the casing that had carried the ravenous payload to the surface. Whether the nanites had simply been programed to ignore the metal or if it was somehow immune to their microscopic restructuring was less obvious. Just as Hronos had calculated, nearly two down new drones emerged from all around the broken mound, unhindered by the damage and perhaps even spurned on now that an even greater threat to their mission had presented herself. The guardian of time was prepared however and bubbles of temporal paradox ripped through the wave of bestial robots as they headed for Maxima, reducing their number by more then three quarters and disposing of the previous waves' stragglers while he was at it. The remainder reevaluated their priorities in the wave of the counterattack, ignoring the towering powerhouse in favour of taking to the skies to surround the Mechanodynamis in a flurry of raking claws and snapping jaws!
  6. The Grue looked at Cavalier unblinkingly for several moments, completely still and impassive until something finally clicked and xe realized the intent of the nod. Somewhat haltingly Gio'nn returned the gesture, an exact mirror of Kyle's body language except for the note of hesitation from someone still getting used to communicating on a personal level. "Take your pick, Earthman," Seven noted with a small snort. She'd certainly seen a real shower more recently than the Star Knight but she looked tired, worn down at the edges. The carrier soldier was holding up better than the waves of refugees to be found packed into every reasonably safe spaceport in nominally Lor space but everyone was running on fumes. The Communion and its drones, on the other hand, never tired. If they had any hope of winning the war it would need to be soon. "Crew of bounty hunters got hold of some sensor footage a while back, took the labbies and spooks some time to go over. They figure it's the mothership, calling the shots for all the 'Munies. Which would help more if we knew where it was now," she continued, pointing out the spot on the galactic map where the recording had been taken. "Got a team following up a lead on that here." Another red dot on the map, surrounded by red dots. That team would be lucky to make it in alive let alone back out, Cavalier knew. "Word is command's got some ideas about why some worlds are getting converted into computronium and some are getting turned into wormholes, too, but you can guess how much they tell us on the front lines." The captain didn't completely succeed in keeping the irritation out of her voice; Kyle wasn't sure she'd even really been trying to do so. "You know we actually got a confirmed sighting of the Gorgon three weeks back? The karking Gorgon and it gets labeled 'low priority'. That's the galaxy we're living in now."
  7. Compu-Jackals Combined Attack vs Hronos: 5#1d20+5 15 21 12 25 17 That's a DC 22+2+2+2+2=30 Toughness Save for Hronos, I'm afraid! > 26 - Asad - Uninjured, 3HP 24 - Citizen - Injured x2, 0HP 19 - Terrifica - Bruised x1, 1HP 17 - Maxima - Uninjured, Pending Fatigue, 2HP 14 - Hronos - Uninjured, Distracted, Pending Toughness Save, 0HP 8 - Compu-Jackals with Wings and Penetrating Claws x5 - Uninjured
  8. Geez: The whole area is pretty uniform at this point apart from the mound, so I'll assume she attacks the mound! Also, she passes the Fortitude Save and her Impervious makes the Toughness Save unnecessary. Computronium Mound Toughness Save vs DC 31: 1d20+14 19 Yowza! That means the mound is disabled! In context I'm going to say that she's cracked it open and the unconverted portions of the bomb are now visible, ie. chunks of metal immune to the nanites. Decentralized processing means that it's still spitting up more compu-jackals this turn, however, and that means Hronos' attack triggers! Compu-Jackals Reflex Save vs DC 20: 23#1d20+4 5 13 6 16 9 19 6 7 12 5 21 15 21 11 8 23 10 14 16 10 21 7 23 26 - Asad - Uninjured, 3HP 24 - Citizen - Injured x2, 0HP 19 - Terrifica - Bruised x1, 1HP 17 - Maxima - Uninjured, Pending Fatigue, 2HP 14 - Hronos - Uninjured, Distracted, 0HP > 8 - Compu-Jackals with Wings and Penetrating Claws x5 - Uninjured Computronium Mound - Injured x1, Disabled
  9. Sun Wukong is so ashamed of him right now. But I'll edit!
  10. The head that spoke with Typhon's voice seemed to the brief pause in the heroes' attack as the calm before the storm and rallied, lifting its massive neck while the other two heads stretched and turned to orient themselves on Arrowhawk's commanding shouts. Flickering flames of un-light curled about teeth the size of trees for a terrifying moment before Meatheral's stoney fists connected with an elemental haymaker. The draconic middle head reeled backward at the force of a living landslide and the weakened scales along its sinuous neck cracked and split like tectonic plates crashing against each other. "NRRAAAGH!" The others didn't need any more invitation. Arrowhawk loosed his bowstring in the same moment Sun Walker's fists and Sekhmet's claws pried free scales broken by Meatheral's blow. The explosive arrow streaked through the air with a faint whistle lost to the booming rumble of thunder overhead as the simian martial artist and the leonine warrior leapt clear in opposite directions. The right hydra head had just enough time to track the projectile's flight as smokeless flame erupted from Miras' fingertips and crimson lightning surged downward from ink black clouds. Then the arrow struck, the wrath of a storm god igniting its payload in the fraction of a moment before its primer could and the base of the titan's necks was wreathed in flames of science and magic alike. The explosion was enough to knock most of the heroes off of their feet, tumbling backward amidst a shockwave of force and winds shipping blistering sand against them. With ringing ears they staggered to their feet to squint at the great, dark silhouette of the half-metal, half-bone hydra against the sandstorm, still looming like a macabre skyscraper. As the sands settled again, however, they could see that only the torso and three of its limbs remained intact enough to be recognizable. The rest of its bulk littered the ruins in chunks of desecrated corpses, twisted silver shapes from the stars and green-black ichor.
  11. That gives us a DC 32 Toughness Save from Meatheral and a combined DC 27+2+2+2+2=35 Toughness Save from everyone else. ANTI-HYDRA Toughness Save vs DC 32: 1d20+14 27 Toughness Save vs DC 35: 1d20+13 14 EXPLOSIONS! 15 - Arrowhawk - Uninjured, 3HP 15 - Sekhmet - Uninjured 15 - Set - Bruised x1, 0HP 15 - Meatheral - Bruised x3, 0HP 15 - Sun Walker - Bruised x1, 2HP 15 - Miras - Bruised x1, 1HP 13 - ANTI-HYDRA - Injured x7, Unconscious
  12. Ouch! Dramatically appropriate set-back! Have an HP for your trouble! Also feel free to get a nail biting post up about the nanites starting to eat through Terrifica's boots! Meanwhile, Maxima finally lands! 26 - Asad - Uninjured, 3HP 24 - Citizen - Injured x2, 0HP 19 - Terrifica - Bruised x1, 1HP > 17 - Maxima - Uninjured, 2HP 14 - Hronos - Uninjured, 0HP 8 - Compu-Jackals with Wings x1 - Uninjured 8 - Compu-Jackals with Wings and Penetrating Claws x1 - Uninjured
  13. "I'm sure that's hilarious if you're Terran," Shepherd-07 drawled as she strode confidently into disembarking chamber. The Lor clone wore a gunmetal grey set of powered under-armor, a full body jumpsuit on top of which any number of different combat armor loadouts could be mounted, topped with a softer, hooded jacket emblazoned with the emblem of a fighting unit Cavalier didn't immediately recognize. The Star Knight didn't think he'd even seen Seven completely out of armor since meeting her at Lor-Van but then she could have said the same about him. The redhead motioned for Kyle to follow her out of the room and down a hall further into the cruiser to its command information center, the rifle-totting Grue following easily behind. "You've already met Gio'nn. Xe joined up after Kobalii." A Grue birthing world, the Communion had reached Kobalii a little more than four months prior. The Metamind had made the planet a sacrificial lamb, detonating its facilities there to expend the enemy's attacking forces and deeming the Grue drones on the ground acceptable losses. In a chain reaction of hivemind giving way to individual sentience nearly a fifth of those drones had awakened to metamorph status, a large portion of them commandeering cargo transports and escaping to join the Coalition. Those metamorphs were said to hate the Metamind almost as much as the Communion but the damage done at Kobalii had also bought nearly a week to fortify the adjacent systems while the Communion regrouped. It was a touchy subject. The middle of CIC featured a holographic abstraction of the galaxy, accurate scale given less importance than military significance and level of recent activity. Entire solar systems were reduced to dots of red, blue and green with arrows and dashed lines indicating the movement of forces and noteworthy borders. There were so many red dots.
  14. "Ah ha, you yet live, archer, fantastic!" Set congratulated as he finished sprinting across the uneven sands to join Arrowhawk and Miras. "Would have been an extremely awkward time for you to die upon the field of battle, truly!" The godling's attempt at a charmingly disarming smile was somewhat undercut by his own blood staining otherwise pearly white teeth. The clouds overhead became thicker and darker as he gathered power with a little more effort than he had at the beginning of the battle. Raising a hand to his mouth, he called, "Be you prepared, oh She Before Whom Evil Trembles?" Sekhmet had shifted into her lioness form in order to use four limbs worth of claws to anchor herself to the hydra's middle head, scrambling back and forth and the dazed beast thrashed back and forth. "Rawwwr, less idle talk, more haste!" she demanded with a snarl.
  15. Sekhmet Attack ANTI-HYDRA: 1d20+7 21 Set Lightning Bolt vs ANTI-HYDRA: 1d20+7 20 Each of those is DC 22, meaning they can combine with Arrowhawk's attack. Once we get Sun Walker and Miras' attacks we'll see what the best way is to tie them all together.
  16. Sekhmet Full Action: Refocus Set Full Action: Refocus > 27 - Arrowhawk - Uninjured, 3HP 25 - Sekhmet - Uninjured 23 - Set - Bruised x1, 0HP 15 - Meatheral - Bruised x3, Aiming, 0HP 15 - Sun Walker - Bruised x1, 3HP 15 - Miras - Bruised x1, 2HP 13 - ANTI-HYDRA - Injured x6, Staggered
  17. There were several moments of relative silence as the last antibody hit the floor, the front of its skull visibly concave. Pained whimpers from injured refugees and gurgling death throes bubbling up from the cyborg horrors Sei had shot with arrows echoed faintly throughout the cargo bay but after the clamour of desperate battle and terrified screams the bloodied Za’akis and Kahi'iru may as well have been dropped into sensory deprivation chambers with nothing but their own racing pulses pounding in their ears. "Attention, this-- *hkkah* this is Samran-86," the intercom spoke up finally, breaking the momentary pause. The Lor mentat's voice was strained with obvious pain even after the electronic distortion. "All... nnh. All boarders have been repelled."
  18. "Pshaw, 'can we seal that hole'," Jill's voice scoffed over the radio as she jogged across the uneven lunar surface toward the breach in the dome. "I appreciate you setting me up to be awesome, muñequita, but come on." With a wave of her hand she brought a crackling blue curve of coherent bioelectric energy into being over the gaping hole, ignoring the insistent tingle in the tips of her fingers warning her that she was overexerting herself so many fields of such size in such a short amount of time. The barrier fitted itself across the dome's surface until it completely airtight and while she wouldn't have wanted to disparage the workmanship of their hosts she was pretty sure her powers were considerably more durable than whatever the Farsiders had used to construct the dome in the first place.
  19. ANTI-HYDRA Toughness Save vs DC 30: 1d20+14 20 27 - Arrowhawk - Unconscious, 3HP, Pending Healing Check 15 - Meatheral - Bruised x3, Aiming, 0HP 15 - Sun Walker - Bruised x1, 3HP 15 - Miras - Bruised x1, 2HP 13 - ANTI-HYDRA - Injured x6, Staggered > 9 - Sekhmet - Uninjured 9 - Set - Bruised x1, 0HP
  20. Communion Antibody Toughness Save vs DC 25: 1d20+10 20 That's the last of them down, finally! Rob, get an IC post up for Kharag, then we're out of Initiative.
  21. The underground base came down around the Voidrunners just as Bliss yanked her teammates along with her the relative safety of the warehouse through which they'd entered. Metal and stone shrieked against each other as computer equipment was crushed, mixed in with the loud, rumbling thuds of hardened sand falling apart into boulders and tumbling into the hollowed out cavern. The stairwell quickly collapsed behind them and one pile of crates of hoarded supplies was knocked over as the ground beneath them shook. It didn't look like Sheriff Zaul would be going anywhere any time soon but after what they'd seen none of the bounty hunters truly believed they'd seen the last of him. Despite looking like they'd been through the wringer - or perhaps because of it - none of the locals bothered them on the way back to the spaceport and even the throngs of displaced refugees filling the streets seemed content to given them a wide berth. While Ruby checked in with the still unenthused and disinterested attendant Bliss recognized a familiar juvenile Lor, feet swinging distractedly as he sat atop a dented and sand-scored power box looking like he was deciding if he needed to bolt. "Um. Hi."
  22. Alright, since Blue is obviously busy, if I don't hear one way or the other from Rob by tomorrow I'm assuming Kharag is knocked out and we can move onto a post for Ana successfully restarting the engines.
  23. I'll allow you to spend an HP for a Heroic Feat or use Extra Effort on the device itself to stunt a wireless connection for the wrist computer so that she can help Citizen with the Computers checks against the mound, sure.
  24. Jill O'Cure Standard Action: Create a force field across the hole in the dome, blocking the spheres. Move Action: Get over to Jack and Harrier.
  25. Erik's face clouded over in way he usually reserved for his on-duty hours, the muscles in his tapered jawline visible tightening. Stesha had spend enough time around all three generations of Espadases to make some educated guesses about how the self defense instructor felt about absentee fathers. For a moment it looked like his sharp tongue was going to win out over his better discretion but he bit down on whatever he wanted to say and rolled his shoulders until his expression had softened some of the way back to a convincing smile. He'd certainly grown since the first time they'd met. "Dios, what an ass." Well, perhaps he hadn't grown that much. "Sorry, Sprouts, I get that the guy has commitments and you're too nice by half to say anything yourself but we're your friends and that's just... fft." Erik made an annoyed sound through his teeth as he followed their hostess toward the commissary, maintaining enough presence of mind to keep his voice down where anyone else might hear. "Y'know I kicked his evil clone's ass once," he added airily, glossing over the details of that encounter the way tarmac glossed over bare dirt. "Just saying. Could do it again. On the table."
