The Katanarchists were skilled, faster and stronger than the ones Erik recalled fighting in the past - or at least better trained to work as a cohesive unit and better prepared for the targets they'd been sent to engage. What that training evidently had not covered, however, was what to do when the battlefield itself turned against them. Vines shot forth from a dizzying array of angles, snaking around wrists and ankles, slapping weapons out of hands and pulling their targets down to the forest floor. A few of the ninjas were wrapped up in flora cocoons before their allies had a chance to even realize what was going on. The rest were canny enough to place themselves back to back, slicing away at the attacking foliage with their blades but under Willow's stewardship the greenery regrew anything that was cut away more quickly than the Katanarchists could keep up. By the time her first attack subsided the clearing was littered with struggling bundles of vines while one lone ninja remained free and mobile, considerably less certain of his position than he had a minute before.

Reflex Save vs. DC 22.: 24#1d20+8 10 28 20 21 26 12 23 25 15 11 17 10 17 23 26 19 14 16 17 27 13 16 26 12 Alright, so, since these are minions they all automatically suffer the worst possible effect. They're all bound and helpless, tethered to the ground and effectively blinded and deafened... except for that one, lone ninja! Which is pretty hilarious.

Kimber paused for a moment as the chill sank into her being, trying to recall just what it was that she was feeling. The poltergeist lifted her empty hand in front of her face and clenched and unclenched strangely stiff fingers a few times, twitching her nose as the prickly sensation spread from her extremities. "Huh." Refocusing on the massive implication of an organ in front of her, she squared her shoulders and adjusted her grip on the shard of metal she'd been given. "Dunno if you can hear me at all - kinda hope not, 'cause just being a big, leaky heart with nothing to go with it sounds pretty awful - but if you can, sorry about this." Placing the sliver between her fingers so that it stuck out in front of her fist, Ghost Girl made a tight loop in the air and dove downward.

Alright, we're out of rounds but for the in-character side of things, let's get posts of TNTeen and Tsunami attacking before the big finish! After that they can figure out what to do with that vault.

"Well, you heard the fine firecracker, Sekhmet--" Set began but the goddess was already circling around the mech's feet before pouncing upward from the side opposite Thoughtspeed's initial attack. Though the young speedster could cover many times more ground than the divine lioness she was more than agile enough to stay out of his way while adding her own raking attacks, ripping apart either side of the long cuts left by sword strikes as though shucking an oyster. With a grin, Set told Tsunami in a conspiratory tone, "Tis precisely why the just and true of heart triumph so often, you know. Teamwork!" Lifting both hands palms upward, he splayed his fingers and allowed crimson sparks of energy dance between the tips. "Old Amir would have tried to steal my sandals by now. After you, oh worthy waterlily!"

Just remembered as I was working on Jack's actions for the round that these ninjas are minions so taking 10 on attack rolls is an option! With the attack bonus from Favoured Environment that would be enough for Willow to automatically hit the Katanarchists with her Snare. My bad for forgetting, would you like to go back and do that instead?

Yes, I know, Thev. I'm marking down the DC for each attack so that we can see which is highest once they're all in. Also remember that they all have to be within 5 of that highest DC, another reason to notate it the way I did for the sake of clarity. Anyway, feel free to get an IC post up in the meantime. 21 - Thoughtspeed - Uninjured, 3HP 12 - Tsunami - Uninjured, 3HP, Pending Combined Attack (DC 27) 12 - TNTeen - Uninjured, 2HP, Pending Combined Attack (DC 25) 12 - Sekhmet - Uninjured 12 - Set - Uninjured, 3HP 12 - Cobra Mech - Bruised x6

That ends up being a 23, Rav, so it easily hits and even grants the maximum +3 for Autofire on there. Adjusting the Initiative order so he'll attack on 12. 22 - Tsunami - Uninjured, 3HP 21 - Thoughtspeed - Uninjured, -5 Defense, 3HP 12 - TNTeen - Uninjured, 2HP, Pending Combined Attack (DC 25) 12 - Sekhmet - Uninjured 12 - Set - Uninjured, 3HP 12 - Cobra Mech - Bruised x6

Sekhmet took a long pull from the bottle she'd scavenged only to thrust it abruptly to arm's length, giving is an angry, betrayed look as she swallowed. "Yyowrrr! Gluh. Very well," she told Teagan, discarding the offending beverage and giving her head a shake. "Tis close enough, one assumes. Come! We are victorious in battle and revelry be warranted!" Looking to the dragon with an expression of grave import and placing a firm hand on the shoulder of her leather jacket, the goddess looked unwaveringly into red eyes and decreed, "I would witness thee shake that which thy matron gifted unto thee." Not knowing where she was going did not seem to deter Sekhmet in the least as she turned and back out toward the street.

Squeezing Mara's hand back, it took Ellie a few steps to realize that she was leaning on her girlfriend for support a little more heavily than she'd intended. Blinking several times rapidly to help her eye refocus she straightened and allocated a little more of her attention on successfully putting one foot in front of the other. "Buh. Sorry. But yeah, hard to go wrong with doughnuts," she agreed, guiding them over to a flight of ascending stairs. "To be fair, though, your work is generally a lot more exciting. There's a considerably higher chance of, like, adorable moppets from alternate dimensions." The med student did a quick glance over the shoulder to ensure that they had enough privacy to forgo fastidious secrecy. "Oh! Reminds me, have you gotten a chance to listen to the new song Yolanda's been learning?" she asked, posture a little more energetic as her memory was jogged. "She going to guitar lessons two times a week now for summer vacation and she mentioned on Monday that she really wanted to play for you next time she got a chance." The eight year old had taken to practicing with her usual serious minded determination and while Ellie admitted some bias she thought it was really paying off. Yolanda was always happy to play for anyone she could chase down but it was Mara's talent with sting instruments that had gotten her interested in guitar in the first place.

July 14, 2014 "I'm just saying it's hard to believe the initials were an accident," the figure perched atop the three-storey apartment complex insisted. Keeping to shadows deep enough to conceal his high collared, royal blue great coat and matching bandanna mask, the West End vigilante known as Jack of all Blades spoke in a low voice as he peered down at the community center across the street, noting the comings and goings through the back door. "Hey, don't look at me, fearless leader," the smoothly cheerful baritone in his ear protested. "When it comes to acronyms, well! Those who live on glass hard drives, et cetera, et cetera!" VINCE, the Interceptor's artificial intelligence and dispatcher usually preferred to appear with his avatar when communicating with the team but for covert surveillance and earpiece beat commandeering an ATM monitor. Grunting noncommittally, Jack noticed and ultimately ignored a trio of youths starting up a pickup game of basketball on the center's court. The Vibrant Community Reclamation project had been the driving influence behind a number of similar centers throughout the city, focusing on the West End and Lincoln while making inroads into the Fens, repurposing unused buildings in what were diplomatically referred to as 'at risk neighbourhoods'. If the organization spent just as much time holding banquets and press events to pat its well heeled contributors on the back, well, the plus column still came out ahead. At least in theory. Jack had learned the hard way that looking a gift horse in the mouth was actually a pretty good habit to get into and the increased drug trafficking he and his team had been encountering in the area since the center opened had started to make the hairs on the back of his neck itch. VINCE had explained something about correlation and causation that the swashbuckling swordsman hadn't entirely followed but had agreed that the rising crime bore looking into. Without much more than a hunch to go on, he'd decided to stake out the center itself to see if a lead presented itself.

The money laundering thing didn't tip you off? Man, that's harsh! Although, y'know, there is a donate button on the right side of the home page. Just saying!

Alright, wasn't expecting to get quite so much interest! Want to keep this thing fairly lean so I'm just going to tap Scarab to get her back into things, Blodeuwedd to let her stretch her skills a little and Graft because I want to see how a guy who runs a free clinic reacts to some of the stuff in this thread. I'll get the IC and OOC threads up tomorrow evening. Everybody else, remind me that I owe you different threads in the near future! Spirit of Revolution should give me a better understanding of Terrifica as a character and I think I may already have something in mind for some fancy pants rich folks and a reporter...

The ship abruptly bucked as it was jockeyed through another mad maneuver with which the artificial gravity couldn't quite keep up. Geckoman's acrobatics, Bee-Keeper's suit and Seven's extensive zero-g training allowed them to keep their feet under them - or over them, in Chris' case - but the remaining mercenaries were not so agile. The Lor commando took merciless advantage of their opponents' momentary distraction and squeezed off a trio of precise shots that left the hallway abruptly clear of conscious hostiles. In the reactor room Chief K'ilo worked feverishly at the control panels, glancing over his shoulder repeatedly to see how Temperance was holding up with her makeshift heat sink. "Hold together, now, you ridiculous patchwork beauty..." he muttered distractedly to the ship, patting a bulkhead the way one might the head of a large overeager dog. There was a rising sound that the Earthling couldn't mistake for anything but something massive powering up as an even greater wave of heat rolled off of the glowing cylinder and then, without warning, the ship ceased shaking and the reactor calmed to a steady hum. The Lor engineer heaved a mighty sigh of relief. "Made it to FTL. You did it, gal, haha!"

Joanne smoothly scooped up the maple bar with the napkin and placed it next to a genuinely prodigious steaming mug with three tea bag stings hanging over the edge. Finally looking up from her monitor, she glanced briefly at Mara before turning to Ellie and deciding, "I like her." With that point clarified she turned back to the pile of charts in the file folder open to her right and continued transcribing records. Letting out a long breath, Ellie linked her arm with Mara's and began pulling the blonde woman further down the hallway. "Dodged a bullet, there," she told Mara with half a smile. "If Joanne decided she didn't like you, that'd be it for visiting me at work. And I like that you're visiting me at work." She let her voice dip down into a lower, huskier register for that, pulling the inventor a little closer to her as they walked. With her voice a little hoarse from the tiring day it wasn't hard to do. "Give you the tour? Historically that's ended well for us."

"Aw, don't worry, Hell would probably be way worse than this!" Ghost Girl assured the frozen soldiers cheerfully before considering for a moment longer and admitting with a frown, "This is pretty bad, though. Bluh. We'll fix this and get everybody back up and moving in no time, Yuri, Piotr! You can totally count on us!" She gave the soldiers a reassuring thumbs up before turning to Lucy and Dimitri and continuing in a low voice, "Turning off the dead zone thing will put them back to normal, right? They're, uh, they're pretty dead right now, is the thing... Sounds like it was that Sixtus lady like you figured, though. She's got a lot to answer for!" Something in the phantom's voice turned cold and hard as ice for a moment as she said that, jaw set in a way that didn't quite fit her so-far effervescent demeanor. Even without talking to them she could feel the fear rising from the immobile corpses and someone was going to pay for it.

"Mmh, still hot. As though a track team entire were combined!" Set observed appreciatively as Thoughtspeed zipped around the garish green robotic suit, waiting a blink of time it took for the speedster to get out of the way before letting loose with another round of crimson lightning bolts from the ominous clouds above. Sekhmet focused her energies on the same knee joint the divine electrical attacks struck, raking away with tooth and claw sharper than any mortal feline possessed. "Thy nonsense means nothing to me," she informed the godling flatly when her jaws were unoccupied, clearly annoyed by his attempts at conversation in the midst of battle. Shrugging without concern, Set allowed his jogging path around the harried mech to take him beside Tsunami, still foregoing Thoughtspeed's telepathic network for reasons that remained his own. "As to slaying me, oh liquescent lovely, they have met me," he agreed easily enough, reflexively taking a step back as the radioactive power core surged again and repaired some of the damage being dealt to the cultists' superweapon. "However, the Lady Sekhmet and I only arrived after our serpentine friends broke into a local treasury and made off with yon vault." He pointed to the cube of reinforced metal that was partially visible where it had been clamped into what would have been the stomach of the mech.
