"Phaw! Truly a wasted trip," Set grumbled, tapping absentmindedly at his phone with one hand as he stepped out of Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. A long night of aimlessly following website link to link a week before had led the godling to the museum's online Giza Archive where one preserved manuscript in particular had caught his eye. Cajoling Sekhmet into making the journey to the City on a Hill had taken some doing and Set had merely ended up disappointed when in person the scroll proved to be a reproduction and utterly worthless for his purposes. Opting for what for him constituted understated dress, the bronze skinned deity wore a bold red dress pants and a matching blazer with the sleeves rolled up hanging open over a nearly transparent black mesh top, accented with a chunky silver necklace that hung down to his sternum and immaculate black shoes with squared heels. Along with his heavy eye makeup and brick red dreadlocks, he caused a bit of a stir as he walked down the street, not coincidentally encouraging a flurry of hastily posted cameraphone snapshots. Walking to his right, Sekhmet had - after some convincing - opted for a collared shirt in a raucous pattern of white, blue and gold, the front corners tied together in a knot rather than buttoned shut, highlighting a regal neck and collarbone. Flaring black pants of an almost glossy material were cinched high at the waist with golden chains worked together into a belt with a smooth rectangle of gold-trimmed black at the center. Together they gave the impression of having just walked off of a fashion show runway but the Heliopolians seemed pleased with their efforts to blend. "I disagree. Tis heartening to observe the mortals preserving weighty history despite their limited spans." "Mmhmm. Mayhap we might at least procure some dish involving clams for my daily meal pictorial..."

Straightening up at the familiar sound of her name, Ellie swiveled on one heel so quickly she nearly slipped on the slick hospital floor. Her expression brightened as she spotted Mara and she jogged over to wrap her arms around her girlfriend's waist, too weary for any sort of playful subtlety. "Marbar! Dios, you're beautiful," she grinned breathlessly before leaning in and kissing the engineer full on the lips, pulling her close and luxuriating in the physical presence against her own. A pointed cough from the heavyset woman seated behind the counter Mara had placed her comestibles upon broke Ellie's reverie and produced a dark blush across the young woman's sienna cheeks. "Aheh, sorry, Joanne." Still not looking up from the computer she was tapping away at, the nursing supervisor merely made a sound of dry agreement. "Um. ...doughnut?"

Set spent the trip to the coffee shop tapping away at his smart phone, following up on retweets and threads of comments while frequently stopping to take photos of himself and the others, adding clever captions as they occurred to him. Sekhmet caught herself growling under her breath in Ryan's direction a few times but resolved to set aside her annoyance with the mortal youth at least until the larger issues were settled. Reaching the door, Set reached for the handle before noting the sign taped to the inside of the adjacent window, proclaiming that customers required both a shirt and footwear or else be denied service. Pursing his lips and tucking away his phone, the godling shrugged and snapped his fingers with a flick of his wrist. The seamless transformation into female form paired her red-embroidered shendyt, subtly altered to better flatter hourglass curves, with a matching front cross halter that wrapped around her slim neck while leaving her shoulders and upper back bare. Taking a moment to gather her brick red dreadlocks together with an ornate golden circlet, she gestured with her chin for the rest of the group to go ahead. "What shall everyone have? The first round tis on me! Skaere, oh feral fighter, you strike me as one who favours chocolate and banana muffins!" Ignoring the question, Sekhmet narrowed her eyes and sniffed the air experimentally. If there was any scent of their quarry lingering in the area, the goddess was confident she would be able to pick up the trail.

Vibrant Community Reclamation is a charitable organization dedicated to investing in low income neighbourhoods around Freedom City, building parks and youth centers while providing ample high profile photo ops for its board of directors and prominent contributors. Recently, however, Jack of all Blades has been hearing more than one drug peddler suggesting that VCR is a front for money laundering. The intel is of questionable reliability and given the organization's good reputation a formal investigation is unlikely. If VCR's shady business is going to be exposed the heroes will need to find evidence without tipping off anyone in a position to destroy the relevant records... I'm looking for two or three PCs to join up with Jack for this. Ideally PL10+ to make balancing things easier, you can expect a balance of skill checks and detective work with the potential for combat if things go wrong!

"Well that is some mystic mumbo-jumbo," Daybreak observed with a note of annoyance, not lowering his hammer. "At least when Dad does the Voice you can still usually tell what he's talking about." Following behind Knightfall as she led the way toward her twin, Hematite gave Sojourner and Tensile an exasperated gesture as they appeared. "Really?! Did anybody stay to watch-- oh, frell." Looking at the rows of mismatched caskets and urns, the masked time traveler took a silent moment to process what he was seeing. "Then this wasn't his first stop... Listen, everybody, it's not enough to just stop Hendahwit from getting our parents. I mean, these are..." He made an awkward motion with one hand to take in the remains. "They're family, too, yeah?" "Yeah! ...who's Hendahwit?" Daybreak whispered to Knightfall, eyes darting between her and the terse visitor in the fedora.

Sekhmet's eyes scanned back and forth across the empty street as bit of shattered glass fell from broken windows at irregular intervals. Eventually accepting the lack of prospects she let out a sound somewhere between a groan and a wistful yowl before turning back to Teagan with a wicked, toothy grin. "Truly, though tis not all twas scratched," she agreed, splaying the fingers of one hand to display vicious claws that gradually shrunk back down to human fingernail proportions. "Thy confidence in battle be well earned, oh mighty dragon! Concern thyself not with our foes' withdrawal. I expect they shall make themselves available for future trouncings anon." Hopping over the sharp edge of the windowsill, the goddess cast around the bar's upturned tables to find an intact bottle which a cursory sniff didn't find too terribly revolting. "By glorious Ra, my battle fervor will yet be channeled! Pray tell, Teagan, do mortals yet make merry dance to thundering melody?"

Ellie Espadas was tired, she was sore and she was pretty sure she was going to have to just burn the pants she was wearing rather than attempting to wash out the new stains. As the ambulance pulled into Trinity Hospital she reminded herself that she'd survived punishing superhuman brawls and weeks stranded on an alien world but in the moment it was difficult to believe anything had ever been as exhausting as her first week as an EMT-B. With her three years of pre-med behind her and medical school beginning in earnest in the fall, it had seemed like a good time to finally get her certification. After all her time volunteering and doing odd jobs at Trinity she'd gotten enough of a foot in the door to be hired quickly despite the competition and she had to admit that between her experiences with the Interceptors and her test scores she'd been feeling a little cocky. Patrolling the city's rooftops from behind a mask and with free reign to use her metamagi abilities was a far cry from grueling hours of hard, dirty work on the streets themselves. "Hey rook, you gonna make it? You look like @#$%," the EMT-I/85 driving the ambulance asked, glancing in the rearview mirror and letting out a shout, loud laugh. Hernandez looked more like a bouncer than a medical professional, with a shaved head and heavily muscled arms covered in sleeve tattoos straining the dark blue fabric of his uniform's sleeves but Ellie had seen his big hands administer an IV with the practiced dexterity of a concert pianist. His manners left a little more to be desired. "Still better'n you," the young woman snapped back with a little more bite than she'd really meant to, garnering another laugh from the driver as he parked. The third occupant of the ambulance, a serious woman with frizzy black hair pulled back in a loose ponytail, opened the back doors and hopped out. Braugher was an EMT-P, a paramedic, and Ellie knew she was there at least in part to keep an eye on the newbie. "Go grab a coffee, Espadas, we'll clean up here." It was about a close to praise as the older woman had gotten so far and Ellie simply nodded gratefully before heading into the hospital.

"Somewhat possessive, hm?" Pique noted offhandedly as the Katanarchists in the outer ring surrounding them wasted no time letting loose a barrage of deadly sharp shuriken. The throwing stars were easily parried by the Fenchman's rapier or collided noisily with Willow's wooden armor without doing any serious damage but the veritable hail of slicing metal provided ample distraction for the rest of the ninjas to charge forward, blades flashing. With a sword of flame erupting into being in his hand, Erik knocked one projectile aside and reduced another to misshapen metal slag before neatly sidestepping a thrusting katana. "She can afford to be." The shape of his blade shifted slightly, flattening and broadening into a curved scimitar that blocked a pair of parallel strikes from two particularly well coordinated ninja. "Hff. So this thing is bad enough you felt obligated to swing by?" "Dozens of ninjas ambushing mon soleil et belle-fille wouldn't be 'bad enough'?" the older man questioned, his expression a bit hurt as he tripped one Katanarchist into the path of another. "That's hardl-- nngh!" The distraction of the conversation was enough to let a third ninja slip past Pique's blade and land a long gash across his side. Erik was forcing the ninja back immediately, placing himself in the way and giving his father a chance to recover. "Dammit, old man, you're getting sloppy!" he barked, fiery sword flaring to match his heated words even as he snuck a glance over his shoulder to make sure Pique was going to be alright. "Min?"

Well, OotS is a more satirical universe than the World of Freedom but you're right, there are comic books in-universe licensed by actual superheroes. What I'm saying is that, in the real world, would a martial artist say they were inspired by Jackie Chan or the version of Jackie Chan from the Jackie Chan Adventures cartoon? The latter is explicitly fictionalized and working hard to be like the real guy - who's plenty impressive on his own - probably makes more sense. Thunderclap would probably be more directly inspired by that one time the real Captain Thunder actually saved the world than that one made-up issue of the Freedom League comic book.

"Ghhn. Can't say he didn't bring it on himself," Hematite agreed brusquely, though his gaze lingered a little longer on the corpse sitting in from of them. How had Taddai Hendahwit reached a point where reaching into der Schattenwelt had become not only an option but an obsession? He doubted there was anyone among the branching potential timelines of their family who didn't want to become stronger, more skilled but Knightfall was right. This had been madness. He was peripherally aware of Blackbird gathering and recording data but she remained silent as he took a moment with his brooding thoughts. Hiding behind the chapel door, Daybreak caught a glimpse of the new arrival's hat and bit the tip of his tongue in momentary indecision. Letting out a silent breath, the young man quickly made up his mind, activating a beacon on his belt to allow his twin to find him sliding back one sleeve enough to reveal a wrist mounted computer. Switching on the device's translation functions, he stepped out of the shadows, shoulders squared and sledgehammer at the ready. "Alright, buddy, Mom's gonna be ticked I gave up the element of surprise but Dad'd be mad if I messed up a fine piece of haberdashery like that without asking where you got it first. How about some answers, huh?"

Tiamat's triumphant roar echoed in the canyon created by the urban landscape for a moment before all three of the troublesome monsters were abruptly wreathed in blue-purple flames. The fire would have been obviously mystical in nature even without its abrupt appearance and the chill that rolled from its licking tongues rather than heat. The harionago and impundulu disappeared from view almost instantly, whisked away from the battlefield by their alluded-to masters while it took several moments for the coldfire to envelop the hekatonkheires greater bulk and leave the surprised dragon without a perch. Unconcerned by the sinister clean-up, Sekhmet licked blood from her claws, shifting smoothly back into her human form when she reached her thumb. Inspecting her fingernails and running her tongue across her teeth, the goddess stretched from her toes upward with a satisfied sound before retying the plaid purple shirt she'd acquired earlier in the evening, adjusting the knot above her abdominals until it was snug. "Blessed Ra, I was in need of bloodsport!" she crowed with a laugh, tugging on the waist of her ripped jeans. "Rrrh, mayhap the pretty barrister still be available..." Unfortunately for the goddess and her excess energy both the bartender and the rest of the watering hole's patrons had long since fled the scene.

Welcome to the site, Vine! First off, I'd like to see considerably more content under all of his 'fluff' headings. There aren't any hard and fast rules for minimums there but take a look at some of the approved sheets to get a better idea of what's expected. His History section in particular is quite sparse. You say he developed powers as a teenager but you don't explain how or elaborate on his training. We could stand to hear a little more about his sister and the rest of his family and why he decided against university. If he's so motivated to be just like his heroes, why hasn't he done anything more significant than accidentally blow out some power generators with his powers for almost ten years? As for his motivation, having him be a comic book fan is fine but remember that this is a setting where there are actual superheroes flying and leaping around. If he's a Freedom City native then he's lived through alien invasions, mass outbreaks of uncontrollable superpowers, hordes of the walking dead and so on! It may make more sense for him to be inspired by actual heroes like the similarly lightning themed Captain Thunder or his son Bolt, who's roughly the same age as James by now. Again, it also begs the question of why he's been sitting on his hands for so long-- it's tough to have a 'painfully mundane life' in Freedom City! A few more Complications would be a good way to give prospective GMs a better idea of the sorts of stories James might fit into well. I usually look for at least four or five solid Complications for plot hooks on a starting character's sheet with the assumption that more will usually be added as the character sees play and develops. As I said, take a look at some already approved sheets for inspiration. Imagine you were trying to get a friend to pick up the Thunderclap comic book. What would they need to know to get up to speed? Why should they care about this character more than other superheroes they could be buying comics about instead? What's the hook that would make them interested to see what happens to Thunderclap in the future? Now, on the mechanical side of things: You've got his Abilities budgeted as "2 + 4 + 6 + 0 + 2 + 0 = 16PP", it should be "2 + 4 + 6 + 0 + 4 + 0 = 16PP" to account for his Wisdom score. Right now James is significantly undercapped for Defense. Short version: your starting PL10 character should hit all PL10 caps. It's just a question of practical play. Remember that you have the option of trade-offs if you'd like him to be tougher or better at dodging attacks. His exotic saves are also quite low. The rule of thumb is often quoted as "averaging out to PL-2", so averaging +8 in this case. I say rule of thumb because you're under no obligation to meet that average and can go above it as well but right now he's noticeably below it. Computers and Disable Device make a lot of sense but I'm curious how an electronics store clerk has learned Escape Artist skills! The answer may actually be a good story to help flesh out his backstory! Quoting from the Core Rules regarding Improved Block: "If you can block ranged attacks (using the Deflect power, page 81), your Improved Block bonus does not apply to those block rolls, which are improved separately by adding power ranks." Probably not worth it! In fact, spending 35PP on a Deflect power at all is probably a poor choice. Deflect, while sounding really cool, is overpriced and underused in practice. I might suggest Impervious 10 (Extras: Reflective [Electricity]) [20PP] for a more useful and PP efficient way to build a similar effect. All of your formatting is lacking the proper brackets and ordering which makes it a lot more difficult to parse at a glance. For example: Teleport 5 (500' Move Action, 5 miles Full Action; Extras: Accurate, Flaws: Short-Range, Feats: Change Direction, Change Velocity, Drawbacks: Cross Distance as Lightning) [11PP] (lightning leap; electricity, genetic) I use his Teleport as an example because passing through distance as a lightning bolt, while an evocative image, is not a significant enough hindrance to be a Flaw. Medium [Power Lines] would be a Flaw, since it significantly restricts where the effect could actually take him. Being unable to pass through nonconducting barriers would still be a reasonable Drawback. That's a lot of stuff to work on right off the bat, I know, but the skeleton of the sheet is good! If you need advice fleshing out the character or on how to build a particular effect, take advantage of the Character Building forum and ask questions in Chat.

"Ho, there is a loaded question!" Pique chuckled roguishly, smoothing one side of his moustache with a pair of fingers. For all his easygoing manner both Erik and Min noticed from the way he subtly tilted his head that he was listening intently to their surroundings. "The answer could fill many a book, even after les censeurs had had their bloody way with the text!" "Watch it," Erik warned in an irritated growl, stance shifting back and forth minutely as he reflexively forced tense muscles to stay loose and ready. "Just spit it out." Pique's mouth twitched with the half-apologetic look of a man who knew he was pushing his luck with an inappropriate comment but was evidently powerless to hold it in. "Well, I was holding out for the most dramatic timing, mais-- ah, there we are!" As the words left his mouth the brush around them in the forest was suddenly alive with bursts of smoke obscuring forms dropping from upper branches and stepping out from behind tree trunks. "The Katanarchists and our estranged family in la Maison d'Épées have come to an arrangement and you, mon fils, are part of the bargain." The smoke thinned enough to clearly make out at least a dozen ninja in crimson robes brandishing their namesake blades and surrounding the trio, with just as many more holding back slightly to avoid getting in their comrades' way. Pique gestured leisurely with the hilt of his sword. "Shall we?"

"Ooh, purple," Kimber observed curiously, tilting her head slightly as the pond displayed images. "Probably are!" she added when Indira questioned the identities of the three indistinct forms running toward danger. The poltergeist didn't appear as concerned as her friend over the possibility; rather she was practically bouncing up and down with excitement. "That's fine though, 'cause even if we don't know where the big red tower is we can just track those guys, follow them to the wrinkly elf and scoop up the spooky rock before it can cause any trouble! Easy-peasy! Thanks, magic water guy! That's super helpful!" Snapping her fingers as something jogged her memory, she added, "Say, have you seen a horse statue around here anywhere? It's kind of a long story but I promised someone I'd try to find it."

"What I mean is the white stuff is nanotech," Hematite grated impatiently, not sure if he was more annoyed by Knightfall's laissez-faire attitude or that he'd briefly panicked over a pathogen they'd already discounted before deciding he was more than capable of being annoyed by both simultaneously. "It's not doing much so far but try not to, I don't know, touch it with your bare skin or anything." Circling around the midnight mist stained corpse cautiously he grimaced behind his mask. "The creep back in the hallway didn't exactly look like flesh and blood," he pointed out, looking over the leather-bound grimoires. "Frelling magic. Figures." As he unconsciously rubbed his chest where their would-be assassin had attacked him something beneath the books caught his eye. Taking a calculated risk, he pushed them slowly aside to reveal a black circle inscribed in the desk with a triangle within pointing to one side. "Play button...?" Glancing up at Knightfall, he shrugged before pressing down on the symbol with one finger. ***** "Aw, that's messed up," Daybreak gulped softly under his breath as he read the nameplate on the urn and quickly surmised whose remains were contained in the rest of the varied containers. Gripping his hammer more tightly, he whispered into his commlink, "Guys, if anybody can hear me, I, uh, I think I figured out why only six of us showed up for this. It's like a cross-time trophy case or collection or something. I don't think we're the only ones here, either..." Going silent, the auburn haired young man stepped silently to one side of the macabre chapel's doors, eyes filling in with onyx black and luminous crimson as he readied his weapon.
