  1. The mummy turning its head only meant that Sekhmet's palm crashed directly into its nose as she crossed the intervening distance with inhuman speed. Fingernails that were suddenly closer to claws bit deep into the dusty bandages around the shambling nightmare's head while the goddess' other hand seized upon the wrist of the arm attempting to choke its victim. Flexing toned muscles with disturbing ease, she used the leverage between the two points to twist and pull. Mere seconds after she'd begun moving toward her target, the warrior deity tore the offending corpse's arm clean off at the shoulder, ancient bandages and withered sinew tearing audibly. "Seek shelter, mortal," she commanded in an imperious growl, unceremoniously shoving the museum goer out of the way and back toward Set. Shifting a half-step, Sekhmet drew back and used the dismembered limb as a flail to brutally crash against the bewildered creature's skull with such force its head twisted about to an impossible angle, held only together by its wrapping as it toppled to the ground. With lightning speed, a backhand with her impromptu weapon smashed into the next closest mummy as well, held in place by Set's desert trap, sending a spray of sun bleached sand across the room along with the crunch of brittle bone and a thundering, feline roar that echoes through the corridors of the museum. "So, that's Sekhmet!" Set explained to the young woman with the mask formed of ice, stepping gracefully forward to catch the stumbling civilian in a dramatic, one-armed dip accompanied by a dazzling smile. "And I am Set, naturally! What shall we call you, oh cool, oasis breeze?"
  2. Sekhmet Takedown Attack vs. Mummy 2. (1d20+7=11) That should actually still hit thanks to the Snare. DC 22 Toughness.
  3. "I did help," Yolanda confirmed, scampering across the clearing to gather up a pair of water bottles before the returning girls could get them for themselves, evidently having decided that liquid distribution had become one of her growing list of solemn duties. Running over to the engineer, she presented one of the bottles. "I have to set a good example for Eden," she explained before adding in a softer voice, "but I like helping anyway, so I would do it anyway." "I hope you've all worked up an appetite for beans!" Erik called from the far side of the campsite where he was unpacking and organizing the components of dinner. He gave his sister's face a considering look, hiding concern behind joviality. Even so, the look her shot Mara as though awaiting a prognosis had all the subtlety of a camper van. Ellie raised both hands with a small smile, reassuring her brother that she wasn't about to have a breakdown or suffer from traumatizing flashbacks. It helped to focus on the present anyway as she took the second bottle from Yolanda and lightly ruffled the girl's hair. "Well you did a great job," she congratulated.
  4. Set Reaction: Luck Control to force reroll of Mummy 1's save against Sekhmet's attack. Actually, if the mummies have +5 Toughness and Mummy 1 is demoralized, shouldn't that save have been at +3 not +7?
  5. Sekhmet Standard Action: Charge Mummy 1. (1d20+9=19) That should juuuust hit. DC 22 Toughness Save. Move Action: Shove civilian out of the way, begin Interposing. If the mummy's grip on the museum-goer is strong enough that she can't break it, let me know.
  6. Wail Move Action: Follow Nick's directions to the ghost. Standard Action: Fearsome Roar again to try to get anybody still in the building to haul ascot out of there. Interpose: Interposing for whomever the ghost tries to attack if possible.
  7. "Ice magics! Sensational!" Set cheered as his sandals skidded to a stop on the slick museum floors. "You seem much 'cooler' than the draugr, haha! A team-up is in order, yes?" The godling crossed his arms in the air in front of him dramatically, moving them in twisting patterns, his fingers splayed like the legs of a scorpion. In response, grains of sand began to fall from the exhibit's various pieces, sliding in waves through the cracks of glass cases until there was clearly more pooling that could have physically been concealed in the nooks and crannies from which is appeared. "Do not waste too many melodic words on shambling puppets, oh glittering snowflake," he advised with a cocky grin, thrusting both arms forward. "They have had their brains removed, after all!" As he gestured, thick tentacles of sand sprung forth from the dunes, wrapping around two of the corpses and harrying the third, smothering eyes and ears as they went. Set knew that these were no true resurrections of long dead subjects; something else was animating the bodies. "Sekhmet! The distressed damsel, if you please!"

There was a pause while Trevor gave Erin a sidelong glance, trying to process the unexpected train of thought. Eventually the bemused look melted into a smile broad enough to show teeth and tinge his voice with the beginnings of laughter. "We could," he agreed, keeping a portion of his attention on the curving road. "Definitely support trying new outfits. Already fancy." Amusing himself with the idea of a madcap chase through the streets of Monaco in a stolen Formula 1 car, he shook his head. "Think I would rather spend vacation with Erin than Emilie, though."
  9. Set Move Action: Taunt vs. Mummy 1. (1d20+10=22) He's specifically talking to the one actually attacking a woman. Not sure if they're mindless, but Set likes to hear himself talk regardless! Standard Action: Sand Snare. That's a Shapeable General Area effect, so DC 17 Reflex for all three mummies unless they're particularly spread out. He's using the sand descriptor in this case rather than shadows.

"Eh, Heaven is not what it once was," Set opined, waving away Frost's sympathies with an airy wave of his hand paired with a somewhat more gracious smile. "Pity them for having fallen away from Set! But you, oh handsome but high-strung hermetic, worry too much," he continued turning to Nick's terse rebuke with a winning grin, leaning back in his seat at the conference table. "You wield your might over death, yes? Is this a 'safe' power? Naturally not! How many of you champions received your magnificent gifts in an orderly, predicted manner? Not the stout scribe with the peace bound sword, I suspect. Assuredly not Hel's draugr!" With a light laugh the godling interwove his fingers behind his head of brick red dreadlocks. "Change is good, the new is good! Uncertainty is the chance for growth, you see?" Sekhmet made a sound vehement enough to be closer to a retch than a snort. "Excuses from a sower of chaos," she accused, giving the shorter deity a steely look and crossing her arms over her chest. "If you insist, I suppose," Set allowed with a shrug. "That doesn't make me any less correct! Know that if my wayward might become a danger, I shall take responsibility and deal with it summarily. Nothing you need crease your collective brows over!" The pledge seemed genuine if perhaps overconfident. "In the meantime! ...hm. Do we need to eat?" Poking his exposed stomach with one finger, the youth considered the question carefully. "An astute question, oh rarest of blossoms. Sekhmet, are you hungry?" "I am a lioness," she responded curtly, lips pulling back enough to draw attention to her teeth. "My hunger and thirst are legend, never stated, never slaked." "That would be a 'yes', then."

"Sounds fair," Trevor agreed with a broader smile, breaking the deadpan of his exaggerated courtesy as he slid into the driver's seat and took them out of the airport and along the expressway. Driving along the seaside with Erin beside him and no immediate crisis to deal with was about as close to perfect as he ever expected to come. "Possible," he supposed, leaning back and steering with one hand, gentle movements guiding the responsive vehicle around the bends of the road. "Chances of crossing paths seem low, though."
  12. Ellie didn't laugh immediately at the frankness and Mara could feel the taller girl's breathing catch for a moment as they kissed. Returning the embrace, she held her girlfriend tightly for a few moments before taking a deep breath and ruefully wiping her eyes with the back of her sleeve. "If I blame that on allergies, do you think you could pretend to believe it?" she asked with a chuckle, stooping to pick her bundle of gathered firewood back up. "You're right, we better head back. Raincheck on complimenting my derrière?"
  13. While he appreciated the sentiment, Wail was less eager to test Gabriel's durability against the full force of his shout. It was the work of a moment to shift his not inconsiderable frame to one side and position himself at and angle that caught more than a half dozen of the self-proclaimed enforcers of the law in a wide swath of booming sound. The aging teacher didn't bother with a particular word; this was a guttural, primal below that ripped through the intervening space with a fury, slamming loose objects into the real targets as insult added to injury. "How's that for disturbing the peace?" he growled, already moving again to take aim at the remaining fae.
  14. Let's keep this simple: Wail Standard Action: Sonic Scream Damage 13 (Extras: Area [General, Cone, 130ft], Linked [stun]) + Stun 9 (Extras: Area [General, Cone], Linked [Damage]) [24 + 27 = 53PP] He'll catch whomever he can in that.

"Hnh, should avoid that this time," Trevor suggested with a faint smile and a subtle shaking of his head. It would have been foolish to assume there would be no interruptions to their vacation at all but Nice, Monaco and the surrounding areas had their own, local heroes ready to spring into action and the proverbial shop was being minded back in Freedom City. Being 'plopped down' at least seemed less likely. He kept a close eye on Erin's reaction as they disembarked, fully prepared to catch the next flight back home if she decided she was too uncomfortable in the strange place. He didn't think that would happen, however; he couldn't think of anyone he'd ever met who was better at overcoming and persevering despite everything. An express busline ran from the airport into Monaco itself but Trevor had arranged for a car to be waiting for them instead. Between the chance to drive on new, gorgeous roads and having to sit through public transport there was no competition. Neatly fitting their few bags into the back of the sporty convertible, he made a point of opening the passenger side door for Erin with a shallow bow.

My, how perceptive! Set's pretty happy to be on Earth, at least as opposed Heliopolis, where everyone either hates him or hates him enough to try to snuff him out, over stuff that, from his perspective, he didn't really do (this version of him anyway). Compared to that, Earth is almost a second chance and being one of the only gods there is a pretty good opportunity to make a heroic name for himself and prove everybody back home wrong. To that end, being powerless enough to slip past the Pact worked out pretty well. Part of him thinks that maybe his older self planned it that way somehow but the idea of Set the Destroyer giving up so much mojo is pretty tough to swallow. He's legitimately unconcerned with enemies coming after him in his current state - he's still confident he can take them on - but he doesn't really love being one of the less powerful people in the room. As for not knowing what happened to his remaining power, he is a god of chaos and change. That much mojo being out there is pretty interesting. Ideally he'd like to get it back himself but whatever happens, it won't be boring.

Set made a nonplussed face that soon turned rueful at Fleur's blasé reaction. "Hrm, 'tough room', yes? Twas a time mortals were impressed by things like making fire or surviving decapitation. No longer, haha!" Sekhmet's shoulders actually slumped slightly for an instant before she regained her proper posture. "Ra's wisdom was that, being physically inclined, I would have less trouble acting with a sliver of my usual power." The goddess' voice was tight and controlled, betraying no emotion but her fingernails were beginning to leave appreciable marks in the conference table where she gripped it. "More likely His Sun-Shininess knew you would be least likely to balk at such an order, Mistress of Dread," Set snorted, more derisive of the one giving the order than the one following it. "Regardless, tis much more to godhood than raw power! And tis not even the best part," he added, grinning broadly as though about to deliver a punchline. "The greater part of Sekhmet's might resides safely in Heliopolis, yes. Mine? I have no idea! Not destroyed, certainly, no more that my current incarnation. A mystery indeed, haha! Exciting!"

"Have time," Trevor agreed, packing a palm sized tablet back into his carry-on. "Prix begins tomorrow." They were arriving early enough by local time that they'd have time to make it from the airport and into Monaco itself, get checked into their hotel and settled and still have the better part of the afternoon and evening to spend however they liked. The night as well if the harbour parties surrounding the race itself lived up to their reputation. Seeing that water up close, not to mention certain swimwear, sounded like an excellent use of that time. With a ding, the passengers were instructed to fasten their seatbelts as the plane began its descent.

Trevor Hunter was more than a little glad when the attendant announced they would be landing at the Cote d'Azur Airport shortly, though anyone unfamiliar with the stoic young man would have had no inkling. He'd grown no more fond of air travel in general but at least the trip had not been plagued by the interruptions that so often appeared in the life he shared with the auburn haired woman in the seat beside him. He hadn't been entirely sure how interested Erin would be in attending the Grand Prix despite her developing skills as a mechanic. He'd originally had somewhat more elaborate plans in mind for their anniversary but after the events of the new year something more terrestrial had seemed to be in order. At the end of the day, however, one could do much worse than taking a few days off from their respectively hectic schedules to visit the Principality of Monaco. Something also appealed to him about a celebration that was by their standards fairly low key: the implication that there would be many more opportunities in the years to come. Rolling his stiff shoulders against a seat not designed with his tall frame in mind, he ensured his sunglasses had remained in place and looked over to Erin. "So far, so good?"

  22. Little Susie accepted the signed headshot excitedly, only for her expression to fall as she read it. "You're not the Scarab..." she realized, disappointment obvious in her voice. "Eh?" the godling sputtered, genuinely surprised by the reaction. "Of course not! Were I the Scarab, my garb would be beetle themed, would it not?!" he retorted a little more hotly than he intended, gesturing to his shirtless outfit. Sekhmet for her part made no attempt to conceal a low chuckle that revealed pronounced canines. Her laughter was cut short by the screams and risen dead. "What blasphemy is this?!" she growled, unceremoniously dropping the stack of photos to the ground and assuming a combat ready stance. "A chance for thrilling heroics, my friend!" Set cheered, his mood immediately reversing as he charged headlong toward the attacking corpses. "Have at you, fiends!"
  23. What would it take for Wail to get the ghost's targets out of the building?
  24. Midnight responded to the boastful brogue by lashing out again from the darkness, driving both of his escrima sticks hard into the leprechaun's solar plexus. The Nazi uniform wearing creature simply shrugged off the blow, which would have been enough to take a human out of the fight entirely. Slipping back into the concealing mist blanketing the room, he thought to Eve, --Agreed. Tough hide, though. A psionic blade might solve both issues.-- Through their link the telepath could tell the black clad vigilante had cleared the way for her attack.
  25. Midnight II Move Action: Hide in Plain Sight Standard Action: Escrima Stick attack vs. Leprechaun 1; Power Attack 5. (1d20+9=23) That's DC 30 with Sneak Attack.
