  1. Erik nodded agreeably at the collective decision even if he looked a little disappointed that they wouldn't be immediately descending into a wild melee of steel. Caution and moderation had never served him particularly well but he supposed they were probably the sort of thing he should be trying to impart upon his students. "Makes sense to me." Tarrant's prediction suggested he wasn't quite pulling off the overconfident fop act these days, while Eve saw through the deceiving implication of strength in numbers easily enough. "Alright, Blod, you're up first. When you're ready."
  2. "Hee, Sharl's lucky he's got somebody who sounds just like him to talk to," Ghost Girl grinned, looking amused as she spread her arms to make sure the latest scan was able to get a good look. The gorgeous scientist was a little more diplomatic about it but she put the same metaphorical finger quotes around 'magic' that her protege did. The poltergeist suspected she'd had the right idea leaving Avro behind for this trip into the city; a manticore kitten on top of everything else might have been tough to accept. "Oh, it's not really for me, it's for a gift!" she answered the blonde woman's question. "You remember I mentioned my roommate? Well, um, I'm not sure how much I'm really supposed to say but the important thing is she's outrageously tough to shop for and the holidays are coming up!"
  3. Kimber flowed the green light up and down with interest, craning her neck to mirror its methodical motion. "Sure, whatever helps! Just let me know if you want me to go invisible for you or freeze the room or something!" The phantom was happy to help what seemed like a good cause even if most of it was a bit over her head on the technical side of things and the favour Miss Americana had agreed to in return would be well worth some metaphorical poking and prodding. If she could see the look on Sharl's face when science proved that she really was a ghost that would just be a side benefit. "I get little bits of stuff now and then, like when you're trying to remember a word you've used before but it won't come out? I kinda try not to think about it too much, though."
  4. Siren!Get-Away Opposed Strength Check. (1d20+7=14) The net is pulled right out of her hands!
  5. "Well I don't dream 'cause I don't sleep!" Ghost Girl laughed amiably, unfolding her levitating legs absently and placing her hands behind her head. "Luckily neither does my roommate or that'd get super boring at night. And I remember lots of, y'know, stuff," she clarified, emphasizing the word as if that explained the distinction. "I know what people were wearing when I was alive and I remember that cellphones used to be way bigger and I can name the capitals of all the provinces and territories -- did you know they added a new one?! And I can totally sing the entire theme song from Saved by the Bell! I just don't remember actually learning any of that. It's like amnesia, I guess." The phantom shrugged apologetically but didn't seem too worried about it herself.
  6. Sure, quick recap! Sage, Citizen and Wraith are around the now unconscious Argo in the middle of the docks. After landing the paper airplane, Ghost Girl is fighting a flying Thunder!Grab by herself a convenient Move Action away, while Papercut turned into a frog and went after Siren!Get-Away who's about 400' away from either of the other two melees. She flew there in pursuit of the Bauble, being carried by Cobalt Templar, who's currently trapped with the Bauble in her magic, Affects Insubstantial net. Both Grab and Get-Away are pretty beat up at this point and more inclined to flee when outnumbered and outmatched, but Get-Away's going to be loathe to let go of the dohicky that messed up all their powers to begin with. Trap Door and Smash are also out for the count, strewn about the dock.
  7. With the HP bonus that hits! Agro the Ultimate Android Toughness Save vs. DC 31. (1d20+9=10) He's out! 50 - Smash - Unconscious 45 - Argo - Unconscious 27 - Trap Door - Unconscious 26 - Sage - Uninjured, 2HP 24 - Citizen - Uninjured, 1HP 20 - Grab - Staggered, Dazed 17 - Ghost Girl - Uninjured, 4HP 9 - Wraith - Uninjured, 2HP 7 - Cobalt Templar - Uninjured, Bound/Helpless, 3HP 6 - Papercut - Uninjured, 4HP 6 - Get-Away - Staggered
  8. "Thanks!" Kimber beamed when Miss Americana noted the unpleasantness of the face she'd pulled, sounding as if she'd just received a professional compliment from an industry professional. "Oh, I don't remember who I was now!" she went on to clarify. "It's different, though. It's kinda fuzzy, of course, but the way Dan explained it it's kinda like being stuck in a loop, like a skipping record? I froze to death in the woods, see, so I was pretty much always cold and lashing out and scared and..." She trailed off for a moment before clearing her throat; and affectation since she didn't actually have a physical throat to clear let alone a need to breath. "Anyway, he found what was left of my bones and such and gave them a proper burial which was supposed to send me to the other side, right? But instead here I am! Just one of those things, I guess!"
  9. "Sensors? Ooh, in the walls, eh? Sorry..." the poltergeist apologized, looking contrite as she folder her legs beneath her so that she was floating cross-legged high enough off of the ground to look the adult heroine in the eye. "I guess I don't really think about that stuff much. It's probably sorta bogus to just waltz into a place with all kinds of top secret projects and stuff, right? Dumb, dumb!" Muttering to herself for a moment, she sighed before seeming to get over it and cheer up again. "I'm not a spy or anything, though, promise! Um, let's see, I'm from Thunder Bay, that's in Ontario. I'm pretty sure I've been dead for about fifteen years or so but it's hard to know 'cause I spent a bunch of that time haunting a cabin in the woods and I was pretty coo-coo bananas for that. All smashing plates against the door and making scary faces in the windows." For a brief moment, the girl's face practically melted away, becoming sunken and skeletal even as her mouth gaped wider than her jaw should have allowed, the ethereal breeze that kept her hair aloft turning violent. Just as quickly, she snapped back to normal. "That was pretty boring, though! It's nice to have people to talk to again!"
  10. "Well, I can't really sit or lie down," Ghost Girl admitted with a cheerful shrug, "but I can totally float wherever you need and I do like to talk!" Moving through the air to stand back in front of Miss Americana, she straightened so that her feet were pointing directly downward, her shoulders squaring as she gave the superhuman scientist her best posture. "And don't worry about hurting me, just about nothing can! Perks of already being dead and all!" The phantom seemed oblivious to any macabre undercurrent to her statement, instead coming across as genuinely positive. "Besides, Sharl trusts you -- well, mostly he brags about you all the time, but he does trust you, too, and that's good enough for me!"
  11. Argo's Defense is actually 24. Did you want to spend an HP to reroll that?
  12. "Oh, sure," Ghost Girl nodded as she coasted about the room, moving up and down in the air to get a better look at the various pieces of equipment that had been brought into the room. She didn't have the first idea what most of them were supposed to be for but that only made them more fascinating. "Dan -- Daniel Storm, y'know? -- did a whole bunch of tests when we were trying to figure out how come I didn't, like... 'move on', right? Necromantic, obviously, whole bunch of different divination spells, this thing with a chicken foot talisman..." She looked back over at Miss Americana with a slightly abashed look. "Aaaaand that probably doesn't count, eh? 'Scientifically' and all."
  13. Some muffled shouts from the space beneath her feet heralded the sudden appearance of a pair of slim translucent boots sticking up out of the middle of the biosciences lab's floor. There was another noise and the rest of ghost attached to the boots jerked into view as if recoiling from something reflexively. "Rude!" Kimber muttered, looking perturbed. "I said I was sorry. Oh!" Spinning about, the undead teen's eyes went wide. "It's you! I mean, I'm me! I mean, I'm Ghost Girl! I mean-- wow, you are really pretty!" she rambled at a breakneck pace that would have been difficult for anyone who actually needed to take breaths. Pausing only long enough to give the scientist a broad smile she waved. "Hi! Sorry to barge in! It's super nice to meet Sharl's host mom!"
  14. "Oh sure, no problem!" the phantom beamed behind her affected domino mask, the pass seemingly pulling itself free of the receptionist's fingers to bob up and down in the air next to the large capital 'G' emblazoned on her chest. "This must be such a rad place to work," she mused conversationally as she telekinetically turned the pass around to examine the back and front before blinking as if abruptly switching trains of thought. "Oh, I shouldn't keep her waiting! East side of the fourteenth floor, right?" she double-checked, pointing in the cardinal direction before speeding upward right through the ceiling. The notably physical visitor's pass followed her upward but smacked into the top of the lobby before fluttering back down onto the floor.
  15. The vaguely egg shaped skyscraper known as the Lab stood out even amongst the many research and testing facilities in Hanover as a beacon of progress. Named with typically efficient accuracy by its founders, the building represented the coming together of some of humanity's finest minds, working together to move the world toward a future free of the past's superstition and fear. The irony was largely lost on the chipper poltergeist known in an equally informative fashion as Ghost Girl as she floated through the large windows of the Lab's lobby as if they were empty air, pulling back the hood of her tattered reaper's cloak so that she could crane her neck and gape in wonder at the ultra-modern architecture. "Woooow..." the translucent blue teen murmured as she coasted about almost two meters off of the floor taking everything in. She'd missed a fair bit since her untimely death but it was moments like this that really made her feel like a time-traveler. Spotting the receptionist behind the desk, she sped forward with a sunny smile. "Oh, hi! I, um, have an appointment?"
  16. Ghost Girl Move Action: Siobhan’s Shroud (Obscure) in Milliner's face, aimed away from Nick and Wraith. Standard Action: Drain Strength vs. Gregory Milliner. (1d20+12=14) Ffft. Hero Point: Drain Strength vs. Gregory Milliner, HP reroll. (1d20+12=16) So 26 after the HP bump. That's a DC 22 Fort Save. Extra Effort: Surge for Standard Action. Standard Action: Drain Strength vs. Gregory Milliner. (1d20+12=29) Another DC 22 Fort Save.
  17. Midnight met Medea's gaze impassively while inwardly his mind raced methodically over her claims, formulating possible responses and following through to each plan potential outcomes. Finally, the black clad detective raised one hand to rub the bridge of his nose through his featureless mask and let out a silent breath. It was, from the reserved young man, the equivalent of a weary expletive. If there was one thing more trying than magic, it was the magic of ostensibly supreme beings. If there was one thing more trying than that, it was being pulled into other people's relationship drama. "Fine," he intoned in a gravelly grate. "Plan to stop his resurrection?"
  18. Initiative. (1d20+3=21)
  19. Wail snorted a harsh breath through his nose as he powered through the spirit's draining attack. For a fifty-seven year old with the aches and pains of decades of no-holds throwdowns, just getting up in the morning took an iron force of will. "You turkeys just don't LEARN!" he shouted, casting his superhuman voice in a wide swath the caught three of the crow creatures with enough force send them tumbling end over end in a flurry of feathers and talons like bowling pins hit by a cannonball. "How you holding up there, brother?" he asked Metropolis at a more modulated volume, keeping an eye on Temperance to make sure she didn't get in over her head.
  20. Siren!Get-Away Toughness Save vs. DC 23. (1d20+9=13) Ouch! Staggered and Dazed! That means we skip over her turn, and Argo's as well! 50 - Smash - Unconscious 45 - Argo - Bruised x5, Staggered 27 - Trap Door - Unconscious 26 - Sage - Uninjured, 3HP 24 - Citizen - Uninjured, 1HP 20 - Grab - Staggered, Dazed 17 - Ghost Girl - Uninjured, 4HP 9 - Wraith - Uninjured, 2HP 7 - Cobalt Templar - Uninjured, Bound/Helpless, 3HP 6 - Papercut - Uninjured, 4HP 6 - Get-Away - Staggered
  21. There was a beat of silence. "Sanctuary?" Midnight intoned, his voice no louder that one in idle conversation but reverberating in the tense space of the theater like the echo of a gunshot. "From gods." There was another palpable pause as the black clad mystery man looked to Edge for his reaction. "Why?" he asked finally, a weighty word of inquiry that questioned both why one or more deities was evidently seeking retribution and why the Liberty League should do anything to impede them.
  22. Kimber and Roy floated near the ceiling as the bulk of their respective classmates began sparring in a whirling mass of martial arts and shapeshifting. "So, um..." Kimber began, puffing out one cheek in consideration, "should we be, like, duking it out or something?" "I dunno, maybe? Maybe it's like a thing you're supposed to do?" Roy pondered, resting his chin in his hand. They'd both missed a fair amount after dying, so it wasn't inconceivable but it did seem like an awfully specific situation. "I'm good if you are." His female counterpart let out the faux breath and nodded as she scratched Avro behind the ears. "I'm pretty sure they're all just kinda... fighty," she suggested, changing her position in the air a bit to get a better look at the match between the two Kinigosi, trying to figure out which was which now that they'd shed their human guises. She thought she saw a subtle difference in the way they formed their torsos but that might have just been her imagination. "I'm really glad Indira is getting to hang out with another Kinigosi," she confided in her local double. "She doesn't mention it as much as Sharl, but it's gotta be weird being around aliens all the time." "Oh, totally! Indi is super stoic about that stuff. Like, ninja-stoic, but I can still tell it bugs him." You got to know a guy pretty well playing video games for hours while everyone else was asleep, after all. There was a brief pause before he spoke up, "D'you think it's weird that your team, I mean the lady versions, are, er--" "Total cuties? Nah, it's fine, I'm totally checking out your friends, too," Kimber assured him with a slightly embarrassed grin. "I swear, though, somebody on this team better start dating soon so I can live vicariously though them!" She ran a hand over her face with a groan, the ectoplasm stretching a little more than real flesh would have. Roy's cheeks turned to a darker blue and he cast his gaze upward momentarily, coughing quietly even though he had no need to clear a largely nonexistent throat. "Aheh, well, I mean I... Adjusting as Argus clamored about to his opposite shoulder, he glanced over to receive a flat look from Kimber. "...yeah, okay, same."

  25. Ghost Girl floated above the unconscious criminals looking glum. "Aw jams, evil spirits, making us all look bad." The teenage poltergeist kicked at the air in annoyance. "Possession's just weird. Seems like it'd be like wearing a nasty, meaty... person-suit. How does that get fun?" Shuddering and sticking out her tongue, she turned to the more experienced heroes. "So... we won, though, right? Knocked the bad guys out of the other bad guys so they had to leave? What now?"
