  1. Ellie heaved a silent sigh of relief as Erik bounded past Gina and Yolanda and back into the bedroom, skidding to a stop beside the bed as his ingrained acrobatic grace just barely compensated for his reckless momentum. With the spell keeping their powers subdued dealt with the metamagi healer had gathered a soothing blue light around one hand but hadn't yet stepped in to apply its effects, sorely tempted though she had been. They'd agreed beforehand that considering the... unusual nature of the pregnancy, it was probably best to avoid introducing another source of supernatural energy unless there was an emergency. Fortunately, the stressed but still composed young woman's mundane skills and knowledge had so far been up to the task. "Well...?" "We're good," her brother assured her, crouching back down next to Willow and enfolding the dryad's hand in both of his own. "Admittedly I probably can't give you a hard time about your crazy relatives any more, belleza," he told her with a faint smile before briefly glancing up as Ellie. "Also, your girlfriend set some guys on fire, it was pretty great. She's a keeper." Turning back to the white haired guardian, Erik tried to cover concern with a hasty grin. "So how's your day been?"
  2. It'll only be targeting Get-Away; everyone else is well away from them. Siren!Get-Away Reflex Save vs. DC 22. (1d20+9=29) ...well! 50 - Smash - Unconscious 45 - Argo - Bruised x5, Dazed, Staggered 27 - Trap Door - Unconscious 26 - Sage - Uninjured, 3HP 24 - Citizen - Uninjured, 1HP 20 - Grab - Staggered, Dazed 17 - Ghost Girl - Uninjured, 4HP 9 - Wraith - Uninjured, 2HP 7 - Cobalt Templar - Uninjured, Bound/Helpless, 3HP 6 - Papercut - Uninjured, 5HP 6 - Get-Away - Uninjured
  3. Wail Standard Action: Sonic Scream. For ease of reference, that's: Damage 13 (Extras: Area [General, Cone, 130ft], Linked [stun]) [24PP] + Stun 9 (Extras: Area [General, Cone], Linked [Damage]) [27PP] (Sonic Scream) [53PP] DC 28 Toughness and DC 19 Fortitude Saves following the Reflex Save for the Area Attack. He'll try to catch as many of the crows in that as he can without hitting Temperance or Doctor Metropolis. Let me know how that goes; it may be worth Surging to get a punch in there, too.
  4. Trevor responded with a neutral noise, his eyes hidden from Quo-Dis' intense gaze behind the oval lenses of his sunglasses. Outwardly he remained as composed as ever but inwardly the bout was definitely requiring the bulk of his attention and effort. While he could count himself among the top athletes in the world thanks to his grandfather's extensive training and his own experience that was still a list limited to human athletes. Being more inclined to leverage every possible advantage and tactic, relying on strength of arm alone put him at a further disadvantage. Speaking... of tissue trauma...
  5. "'Sacred'? 'Blessed'?" Ghost Girl's hair writhed silently about her head as if caught in gale force winds, her hurt expression turning to indignation. Even in a room full of fantastic creatures and her alien roommate, there was something noticeably inhuman about the look in her eyes, the illusion of life replaced with a glimpse at something else. "You can lie to yourself, Gregory Milliner, but not to me. Not when I can smell the fear on you." Subtly, her ethereal flesh grew gaunt as if stretch across bone and her voice took on an odd echo. "Take it from someone who's crossed over, the ends don't justify the means. They can't." She lifted a hand, the sleeve of her cloak falling back enough to reveal a skeletal finger reaching toward the poacher. "Should I show you the death you've caused? We can relive it all right now, together. Do you think you'll like what we see?"
  6. Erik silently offered an apology to every teacher who'd ever suffered through his own lack of patience when he was in school. He supposed he should have just been grateful that Tona was more or less back on board at all. "Well now I'm thinking I should just let Kristin teach instead," he drawled with a faint smile, doing a few brief stretches of his own. "Seriously, though, we're starting with stances and footwork. You can randomly wail on each other for free, y'know. Line up across from me." Indicating where the four should stand, he very deliberately dropped into a basic stance. "Lead with whichever foot feels natural."
  7. "Millennia of defeat and failure?" Midnight retorted flatly at Medea's dramatic protests, raising a hand to the side of his featureless mask to activate his comlink. "Truly, beyond doubt. She's here." The latter was directed at his teammates outside while he kept a close eye on the sorceress. It answered her question well enough but he wasn't about to let the interrogation turn around on him. "Talk." Whatever the situation was that she was trying to resolve, Medea clearly needed assistance. With any luck whatever proposal she had would still afford him a chance to pay her back for their last encounter. Either way he wasn't wasting any patience on the villain.
  8. Midnight seemed to slide from the shadows like a crocodile surfacing from beneath river water, choosing not to delay once it was clear Medea was aware of his presence. He wasn't sure what had given him away, but a closer analysis could wait for later. "Not yet," he rumbled in a a low, menacing voice, as much to force the sorceress to react as to avoid putting his teammates in harm's way until he had figured out the game being played. "Celtic's research. Counter-necromancy." The slight inflection he gave the qualifier made his meaning clear: the stolen papers hadn't been a route to greater power, Medea's usual sphere of interest, they were instructions for cleaning up a mess. "What have you done?"
  9. Erik laughed easily at Eve's deadpanned quip, giving the impression that he was someone for whom a smile and chuckle came easily regardless of the situation. He tapped the side of his nose and pointed to Tarrant and Blodeuwedd in turn as they made their own observations, the former more lightly than the latter. "Sounds like we're on the same page, good." As he spoke he was surreptitiously observing the warm-up routines of the quartet. The affable professor was the closest to what he'd been expecting from neophyte fighters, though the obvious care he took with where he was pointing the business end of the weapon recommended him to the instructor. He could practically hear the gears turning from John's analytical tact, while Blod took the flip-side of the same approach, mentally preparing herself from the core outward. He watched the petite Frenchwoman set her weapon aside to focus on her stretches with some consideration; obviously she was a gymnast first and a fighter second. He wondered what had prompted her to look into sword training in the first place. "I'm a big believer in different people learning best in different ways," he continued, resting the blade of his practice rapier along his shoulder casually, "so I'll give you guys a choice. We can start off with some basic stances and footwork today or you can come at me, one at a time or altogether, and we'll see where that takes us." As far as any of them could tell, Erik was being completely serious about the options and seemed perfectly willing to go either way.
  10. Looks good! I made three little formatting tweaks which are easily done if they don't suit: I wrote the Perception Area Extra as "Area [Perception, Auditory]" just to let the powers stand on their own if they're quoted apart from the explanation higher on the sheet, I alphabetized his Array apart from the Base Effect and I separated his Super-Senses into two listings to make the partial Flaw on the Extended clearer. That said: :approved:
  11. Ha, you're absolutely right, I was subtracting Selective Attack on the Fatigue instead of adding it! So that ends up working out perfectly. That's what I get for trying to bang that post out so quickly. I'd be fine with Subtle on the Teleport to represent it not being obvious that he wasn't just already there. Mind Control essentially has the Mental Extra built in (I break that down as essentially Sense-Dependent [Mental] balanced out by only being detectable to the subjects) which is +0. Given that you're turning around and making in Sense-Dependent [Auditory], I could see dropping the implied Mental Extra at no change to the cost. That would mean you don't need to have any mental senses to be affected but it would be noticeable to other people that he was playing the effect which would make the Noticeable Drawback redundant. With Power Loss on the Array itself, maybe: Mind Control 9 (Song of the Dead; Extras: Area [Perception, +2], Contagious, Duration [sustained], Effortless; Flaws: Range [Touch, -2], Limited [Only Undead and Spirits], Non-Mental [-0], Sense-Dependent [Auditory]; Feats: Mental Link) [28PP] That should do what you're talking about, and given the limitations it seems reasonable to me. It's a bit hand-wavey, but I actually like the precedent it sets; a technopath should have the option of controlling mindless robots, for example. If you want to Nullify any Summoning effect, one at a time, that would be 1PP/rank, but it sounds like you want all Summoning effects simultaneously, which is 2PP, yeah. I misunderstood the phrasing there! I'd suggest listing it as "Song of Banishment, All Summoning Effects Simultaneously" or "All Summoning Effects at Once" just for clarity's sake, but the math is solid in that case. There's a lot or really cool effects in there, both in utility and flavour. Excited to see this guy out and about!
  12. "Oh, stop it! Just stop it!" Ghost Girl demanded, her usual appearance reasserting itself along with her manner. Focusing on Milliner she stomped on foot in the air. "Look at what you're doing! Threatening your own people with a gun? Talking about doing bad things just because you can get away with it?" Placing her fists on her hips in frustration the phantom accused, "Maybe you've done some things you shouldn't have to make money but now you're talking like a villain. A villain!" Floating closer to the black market trader, heedless of his weapon pointed directly at her, the teenage poltergeist's expression softened. "You must have spent so much time learning about all these animals and finding out where they lived and seeing their homes. I don't think anybody could do that much work if some part of them didn't really love nature and magic and things that were special. So how can you do this?" She indicated the cages full of frightened beasts, many of them no more than infants of their species, confined and alone. She turned back to their captor, looking like she was trying very hard not to cry. "How can this be okay?"
  13. Wail Fortitude Save vs. DC 23. (1d20+12=24)
  14. There was a moment of stunned silence as the cacophony of the attack reverberated through everyone's skulls, as Wail continued his advance. "Listen up, featherbrains. Leeroy Brown doesn't have a thing on this junkyard dog, so get gone before I knock your flock off the city block Doc," he warned, a certain confident swagger present in his ground-shaking strides, his voice booming with enough force to make the carrion crows stumble over themselves to the dirt. A final leap brought him right down in the middle of the scavenger spirits, the impact knocking a precariously perched car from the top of a stack with a screeching twist of metal on metal. "I'm talking now, jokers!"
  15. You too, Midnight thought as Wander leapt off. There wasn't any real need to vocalize the sentiment; these thing really went without saying. A moment later the clad clad hero was nowhere to be seen melting into the shadows without further ado. It wasn't just that his ink hued costume made it possible for him to blend into the darkness; his training had taught him to secret himself in the places where noone was looking, aided by acrobatic grace and peak physical conditioning. Before long he was slipping into the back of the theater undetected and his search had begun.
  16. Midnight will sneak in using Skill Mastery auto-30 Stealth. He's also got built-in Concealment from mental senses and any psionic ESP effects, if it's relevant.
  17. Looks good overall but I'm having some trouble following the math in his Array. It sounds like (hurr hurr, pun) those powers are supposed to have Sense-Dependent [Auditory] but it's not listed in the actual powers. Let me lay out how I'm interpreting them and you can tell me if it's right or not, okay? Emotion Control 9 (Emotive Magic Songs; Extras: Area [Perception, +2], Contagious; Flaws: Range [Touch, -2], Sense-Dependent [Auditory]; Feats: Mind Blank, Reversible; Drawbacks: Noticeable (Affected targets shuffle their feet, dance and sway in a manner appropriate to music and emotion), Power Loss 1 (Unable to make music)) [18PP] Emotion Control is 2PP/rank to begin with. The +2 from Area [Perception] is mitigated by the -1 from Sense Dependent [Auditory]; Contagious is another +1 and taking the Range down to Touch is -2. The power has two Power Feats and two Drawbacks, so you're looking at 18PP altogether. You may want Selective Attack on that, since a lot of his other powers have it. Fatigue 7 (Lullaby; Extras: Alternate Save [Will, +0], Area [Perception, +2], Selective Attack, Sleep [+0]; Flaws: Sense Dependent [Auditory]; Drawbacks: Power Loss 1 (Unable to make music)) [20PP] Fatigue starts as 2PP/rank as well. Changing it from a Fortitude Save to will and Sleep are both +0, then the same +2 from Area [Perception] and -1 from Sense Dependent [Auditory]. Selective Attack is +1, dropping as back to 2PP/rank; with the Power Loss Drawback, that's 20PP. Teleport 9 ("Anywhere in the World"; Extras: Accurate, Affects Others; Flaws: Medium [Music], Long-Range; Feats: Change Direction, Change Velocity, Extended Reach 1, Progression 3 [Affects Others; 10 Others], Progression 1 [Mass; 1000lbs]) [25PP] Once again, starting with 2PP/rank. Accurate and Affects Others are +1 and +1; Medium (and I love this concept, incidentally) and Long Range cancel them out at -1 and -1. He has seven Power Feats on it, so 25PP all told. Mind Control 9 (Song of the Dead; Extras: Area [Perception, +2], Contagious, Duration [sustained], Effortless; Flaws: Range [Touch, -2], Limited [Only Undead and Spirits], Sense-Dependent [Auditory]; Feats: Mental Link; Drawbacks: Noticeable [undead shuffle feet and sway], Power Loss 1 [unable to make music]) [26PP] Mind Control is 2PP/rank again but it's a Mental (big 'M', not psionic) effect so it's already got the equivalent of Sense-Dependent [Mental] built in. I'm assuming you want that and Sense-Dependent [Auditory], which seems fine since they need to hear and have a mind to be effected. It does mean that a recording of the music wouldn't record the effect itself. Anyway, +5 in Extras and -4 in Flaws, one Power Feat and two Drawbacks comes out to 26PP. Damage 7 ( Song of Hurt; Extras: Alternate Save [Will], Area [Perception, +2], Mental [+0], Selective Attack; Flaws: Sense-Dependent [Auditory]; Drawbacks: Power Loss 1 [unable to make music]) [27PP] I'm using Damage to start with instead of Mental Blast to that we can see where all the pluses and minuses come from (Mental Blast is essentially Damage + Range [Perception, +2] + Alt Save [Will] + Mental [+0] = 4PP/rank in the first place). So, 1PP/rank, +4 Extras, -1 Flaws and one Drawback is 27PP on the dot. Illusion 9 (Song of Deception, Auditory; Extras: Duration [sustained], Selective Attack ) [27PP] This one's easy, auditory Illusions for 1PP/rank with +2 Extras, 27PP. Boom. Nullify 9 (Song of Banishment, Any Summoning Effects; Extras: Area [Perception, +2], Selective Attack; Flaws: Range [Touch], Sense-Dependent [Auditory]; Drawbacks: Power Loss 1 [unable to make music]) [18PP] I guess this one only works is the summoned whatevers can hear? That works for me. Nullifying a single effect of any descriptor is 1PP/rank, +2 from Area [Perception] and -1 from Sense-Dependent [Auditory], +1 from Selective Attack and only -1 from Range [Touch] since it starts as a Ranged effect. That's 2PP/rank with a single Drawback, for 17PP. Damage 5 (Song of Hellfire; Extras: Range [Perception, +2], Duration [sustained, +2]; Flaws: Sense-Dependent [Auditory]; Feats: Affects Insubstantial 1, Indirect 1; Drawbacks: Power Loss (Unable to make music)) [21PP] (infernal) Range [Perception] Damage is 3PP/rank, then 5PP/rank at Sustained Duration (I'm not sure this is worth it given how limited his options are with his array tied up), then 4PP/rank with Sense-Dependent. Plus two Power Feats and minus one Drawback, that's 21PP. The good news is you're not over anywhere, I guess? He can bring a lot of those up to a higher rank if I'm understanding your intentions correctly. I'd also think about just putting the Power Loss Drawback on the Array itself for ease of bookkeeping, since it's on every power inside the array anyway.
  18. I have to echo Fox's concerns about that Complication, even with the clarification you've added. This could be fixed as easily as changing ordering the swarm to kill to ordering the swarm to attack. 'Kill' implies Lethal Damage which is really not something a hero should be in constant danger of doling out. As an example, the Hulk is likely to attack even his allies if provoked but that generally means tossing Iron Man through a wall, not deliberately snapping Stark's neck or crushing random civilians into paste. So... more 616 or Movie Hulk, less Ultimate Hulk?
  19. Midnight gave Wander a look that no one else would have been able to read through his blank, abyssal mask. "Edge... Stealth...?" Erin could tell from a faint note in his filtered voice that he was giving her a minute smile. "Don't worry. Working with Eve; mental defenses stronger than ever," he assured her with more verbiage than he typically spared on anyone else while in uniform, tapping a finger to the side of his head. "If it's a trap, teleport in, break down the door. Know you have my back." His eyes narrowed behind the lenses of his mask. "Besides. Want first crack at her."
  20. Wail's only got 2HP left, for the sake of argument, since he spent one on Improved Critical. Wail Standard Action: Fearsome Roar. That's a DC 23 Will Save against Emotion Control [Fear] and the worst of Str/Dex against Trip against Contested Trip Check. (1d20+13=27) Move Action: Leap into melee range.
  21. "Only the one plan," Wail told the novice heroine as he sized up the distance between them and the macabre ritual, "but it's what you'd call multipurpose." Turning his gaze on the authoritative looking crow creature leading the group, he took a deep breath and shouted a single syllable. The force of the sound wave made the air between him and his target shimmer, ruffling feathers and disturbing loose refuse as it went before hitting the Carrion Crow like the wrathful fist of God. There was abruptly empty space where the bird spirit had been and a series of groaning, clattering crashes of metal echoed the terrible sound as the rot eater's momentum carried it through stack after stack of wrecked automobiles. By the time it was finished, LaMarr could see clear through to the opposite end of the junkyard.
  22. Initiative. (1d20+2=18)
  23. It does indeed hit! Argo the Ultimate Android Will Save vs. DC 23. (1d20+5=12) Yikes! Have an HP, Wraith! Will Save vs. DC 23; GM Fiat. (1d20+5=18) 50 - Smash - Unconscious 45 - Argo - Bruised x5, Dazed, Staggered 27 - Trap Door - Unconscious 26 - Sage - Uninjured, 3HP 24 - Citizen - Uninjured, 1HP 20 - Grab - Staggered, Dazed 17 - Ghost Girl - Uninjured, 4HP 9 - Wraith - Uninjured, 2HP 7 - Cobalt Templar - Uninjured, Bound/Helpless, 3HP 6 - Papercut - Uninjured, 5HP 6 - Get-Away - Uninjured
  24. Wail Standard Action: Sonic Wail vs. Carrion Crow Priest; All-Out Attack 5, Power Attack 5. (1d20+8=27) I'll even spend an HP to pick up Improved Critical for a round to bring that up to DC 42 with effective Knockback 60.
