  1. "I'm kinda freakin' out here, boss!" Smash shouted, looking at his new fingerless gloves with a furrowed brow that suggested his analytical skills had been pushed well past their boundaries. With an acrobatic bound that lacked the usual downward ark of gravity, Trap Door launched himself into the air with much aplomb. "No time for that, my defollicled friend! Keep the robot busy while I secure the gemstone!" A dumb grin replaced the look of confusion on Smash's face as he refocused on Argo. "That I get. Maybe I can't hit you so hard right now," he told the android as he rocketed forward faster than the eye could follow, "but I can hit you a lot more, real fast!" Transferring his momentum into his attack, the tattooed villain fired a hail of blows at his target. "No, stupid fleshy one, you can't," the Ultimate Android rebutted, casually deflecting the blows with one of his own superhumanly quick hands. The opposite arm stretched several meters backward, its fist enlarging to the side of a dumpster before snapping back and catching Smash in a brutal uppercut. The temporarily less durable muscle man went flying across the dock, breaking a crate with his impact and remaining there in a quietly groaning heap. Meanwhile, Trap Door had made his way to the Bauble and grabbed it with his free hand, tugging with the enhanced strength of Lady Liberty. "Oh, no you don't," he admonished the artifact. "No flying away on your Uncle James!"
  2. Rocket!Smash Standard Action: Attack Argo the Ultimate Android. (1d20+7=13) That's a miss. Argo the Ultimate Android Standard Action: Attack Smash. (1d20+10=27) Rocket!Smash Toughness Save vs. DC 35. (1d20+5=11) Unconscious! Or should I say smashed? Liberty!Trap Door Move Action: Fly after the Bauble. Standard ActionL Grab it! This is a contested Strength check against Cobalt Templar's Telekinesis' effective Strength (Telekinesis 2 = Strength 10 = +0). Contested Strength Check. (1d20+9=15) 50 - Smash - Unconscious 45 - Argo - Uninjured 27 - Trap Door - Uninjured 26 - Sage - Uninjured, 5HP 24 - Citizen - Uninjured, 3HP 20 - Grab - Uninjured 7 - Cobalt Templar - Uninjured, 3HP 6 - Get-Away - Uninjured I need a contested check from Corbin but Eve is arriving on the scene!
  3. Corbin's telekinesis snatched the Bauble out of the air with ease, filling in for his currently incorporeal hands with an uncomfortable lack of sensation. With a look and a thought, the troublesome artifact has changed its trajectory and was heading for the invisible teen's position. Unfortunately, that brought both him and the Bauble between the purple-suited Get-Away and the still shouting Argo. The dark haired woman gestured emphatically and somewhat rudely with her hands and in response millions of water droplets flew from the nearby river to blind the android with pelting liquid and reflected light. Crobin just barely managed to slide himself out of the way, floating through the dock like it was empty air, while Argo pinwheeled his elongated arms with superhuman speed, shrugging off the dazzling attack. The Bauble itself reacted violently, flaring up with another wash of blinding light. For better or worse, Cobalt Templar was still very much incorporeal, invisible and dead but the villains were obviously feeling the effects. Argo's robotic skin was now a brilliant gold contrasting with dark, iron hued armor and an inky black cloak. Even that was a subtle change compared to Get-Away's new purple bikini and coral jewelry, Grab's billowing green cape and lightning bolt shaped belt buckle or the skintight tracksuit stretched over Smash's hulking physique. Finally, Trap Door had gained a red, white and blue ensemble with flared pants and a sizable cut out-in the chest. "Well," he commented in the beat of silence before the fight resumed, hefting a staff that now resembled a flagpole, "that really is quite liberating."
  4. "I think I'd better!" Kimber told Indira cheerfully, tucking her chestnut hair into her hood before producing the paper airplane from earlier and blowing on it as Koshiro had instructed her until it was suitably larger to carry the three of them including the currently Kinigosi youth's deceptive weight. "Ladies and gentlebeings, this is your Captain speaking. Please keep all fleshy meat limbs and metallic tentacles inside the magic paper at all times and make sure to observe the exits," she chirped as her friends boarded and an application of will sent them accelerating up into the air and over rooftops in the direction of their teammates. "In the event of an emergency," she shouted over her shoulder and the roar of the wind, "hopefully you've figured out that telekinesis thing, Indira! Whee-hee-hee!"
  5. Wail made a brief sound of appeasement when TOMORROW relented to Miss Americana's reasoning and reversed what it had done to Danson, evidently restoring some semblance of stability to her mind in the process. At the warning comment directed at him, however, the broad-shouldered educator's expression darkened. "I'd be careful about picking a fight with yesterday, brother," he noted in a similarly uncompromising tone. "History has a way of knocking those who don't learn from it on their luminous asses." The artificial entity's intention might have been noble, but its tampering had led directly to a robotic wrecking ball of fury and fire coming down atop a gymnasium full of his students and that was something LaMarr would not forgive. "You drive safe, now."

  8. "Ah," Trevor noted faintly enough that only Erin could hear as the game came on. "Football." He arched an eyebrow above his sunglasses at the older fan in familiar if exaggerated headgear but otherwise didn't draw attention to it. Gratified to find that he at least recalled the rules of the game well enough to follow along, he settled in and began trying to anticipate each teams' plays before they made them. "Overstatement," he agreed with Quo-Dis, nodding in his contained manner. "Lack of restraint is considered a feature for 'on-air personalities'."
  9. Erik watched in silence as each student selected their blade. John's mental elimination process was written clearly in his careful adjudication as the young man's eyes flicked from weapon to weapon. From many youth, Erik would have guessed the selection of a katana as being largely for aesthetic reasons; like many of the swords in the cabinet it summoned up imagery of an entire culture or warriors. Not so with the serious blond however. The way he weighed it and the longsword experimentally in his hand suggested he was thinking of past experience with other implements and that the curved, slicing blade won out on that count. Military style training, he reminded himself. Probably knows his way around a combat knife. Have to watch to see how he handles the added reach. From the others he similarly detected the influence of previous experience in their decisions. Tarrant obviously knew exactly what he was after, going straight for the deceptively simple arming sword. The knight's weapon fit well enough with the easy-going academic's poised attitude. His faint surprise at the weight made Erik wonder if he'd been right about Tarrant's previous experience being with prop blades but he reminded himself not to make assumptions so soon. Blodeuwedd chose a longsword as well, though of a different design. Her small frown as she tested its balance told him that she was used to handling the real thing, not blunted training swords of somewhat dubious quality. It obviously didn't cause her more than a moment's pause as she moved to begin a warm-up routine. Definitely looking for the closest match to something else, both of them. Who buys a particular sword then figures out how to use it? ...probably a lot of people, right. Eve took the longest to decide of the four and Erik got the impression it wasn't because of the wealth of choices. Granted, the petite young woman's stature narrowed the feasible options a fair bit. Don't imagine her trying to use a claymore, he chastised himself inwardly, that's just mean. It seemed more like she just wasn't finding quite what she was looking for, unusual given what he modestly considered a helluva collection. The side sword she compromised on was an interesting choice, light and relatively short compared to the others, definitely in keeping with the graceful way Eve carried herself. "Your choice of sword says a lot about you," he noted as he reached into the cabinet himself and very deliberately wrapped his fingers around the hilt of a rapier. "But not that much. So don't sweat it, huh?" He pulled the blade out with a grin and a brief flourish of his wrist. "As for the collection, well, they kinda build up over time. Some people collect spoons, y'know?"
  10. Woo, Ghost Powers! Get-Away Standard Action: Visual Dazzle Argo. This is an area attack, representing filling the air with shiny water droplets. Get-Away doesn't know it, but she's also catching the invisible Ghost!Corbin in the area of effect, too. That's a DC 20 Reflex Save for half effect then another DC 20/15 Reflex Save against the actual effect. Argo the Ultimate Android Reflex Save vs. DC 20. (1d20+5=20, 1d20+5=21) ...well, he's fine! KD, hit me with some saves for Corbin. Sorus, I need an initiative roll for Eve; she and Sharl are joining the fight this round. Also feel free to get an IC post in responding to Sharl as they speed into battle! 50 - Smash - Uninjured 45 - Argo - Uninjured 27 - Trap Door - Uninjured 24 - Citizen - Uninjured, 3HP 20 - Grab - Uninjured 7 - Cobalt Templar - Uninjured, 3HP 6 - Get-Away - Uninjured ?? - Sage - Uninjured, 5HP
  11. "I don't even have the heart to make a 'take me down' joke," the English swordswoman snorted as she renewed her attack on Geckoman, taking advantage of the numerous distractions to tag him solidly with her scimitar. "Just too easy." With his partner's sound defeat, the disarmed bald man's amused expression had vanished. "I believe we may have underestimated you, cousin," he noted coldly as he kept Erik busy with a smooth series of punches. The fencer had little trouble staying ahead on the assault but it was clear the House of Swords was not about to surrender quietly. "We are, however, in agreement. Kristof, let us end this quickly."
  12. The roaring mustachioed warrior crossed the space between his landing point and the fight quickly, missing only a beat as his intended target flew well out of reach. Recovering his momentum, he swung his oversized weapon with shocking speed. Still unbalanced from the magical assault, Erik dropped to the ground and rolled under the veritable guillotine of tempered steel. "Alright, that's enough of that," he muttered, springing back up and dodging around a burst of searing vapour from an exposed gas line as he launched into jump that ended with one foot pinning the red haired woman's claymore to the street and the other boot connecting solidly with her jaw. He silenced her partner's outraged cry with a follow-up slash of his rapier that sliced across the disarmed Dakanan's upper sword arm. The former hit the ground hard, the latter stumbled back a step to regroup. "Consider my hospitality for visiting relatives run out," he practically snarled at the remaining opponents. "Take them down hard, people."
  13. HoS Atlas Move Action: Run into battle! Standard Action: Attack Jack of all Blades. (1d20+5=23) Luckily that's a miss! Without any HP left, Gecks is stuck waiting out the daze, though he does head another bruise. Jack, on the other hand is going to spend one to remove the daze and one to cancel the fatigue, which are apparently two different things in the rules! Jack of all Blades Move Action: Finish Inspire started last round. Standard Action: Attack HoS Barbarian; Power Attack 5. (1d20+15=32) HoS Barbarian Toughness Save vs. DC 26. (1d20+8=13) That's a second staggered, which rolls over to unconscious. Jack of all Blades Takedown Attack 2: Attack HoS Pirate; Power Attack 5. 14. Without any preamble the butt of an escrima stick abruptly smashed into the back of the orange ring-bearers head, a precise and merciless blow designed to disorient and damage simultaneously. Midnight slid into view again from somewhere in the shadows, as suddenly appearing as he had disappeared. The construct armor had taken most of the force of the attack but a hairline crack had appeared at the point of impact. "Disappointing," the black clad vigilante noted scornfully, sidestepping around in a wide circle while whirling his twin weapons in easy movements.
  15. Midnight II Move Action: Auto-DC 32 Demoralize vs. ORB. Standard Action: Attack ORB; Power Attack 5, Master Plan +2. (1d20+11=29) That'll be DC 23 + 5 Power Attack + 2 Sneak Attack = 30.
  16. "Well, I've always found that folks'll get the message if you talk loudly enough," Wail remarked dryly with a faint threatening not directed at the imprisoned bird creature. Walking over to the ice cage, he folded his arms across his chest and looked down with pursed lips. "Alright, brother, I don't know if you've done anything, but a carrion bird showing up at a conspicuously smashed-up scene is stretching the benefit of the doubt. Got anything to say to change my mind?" He wasn't going to immediately attack the subdued spirit just because things looked bad but the aging hero wasn't one to hem and haw when a potential threat appeared.
  17. There weren't any obvious falsehoods or omissions in Milonakis' story as far as Midnight noticed but the timing of it all still left him slightly on-guard. Considering his nearly constant state of heightened awareness that wasn't really a mark against Vanguard. "Artifacts, no..." he considered, eyes narrowing behind the ruby lenses of his mask as he wracked his memory. A possibility abruptly sprang to mind. "Documents. Recent acquisitions, writings by Lady Celtic. Mystic research." Any previously lost knowledge straight from the powerful practitioner of the Allies of Freedom would certainly pique the interest of a few parties. If the Crime League was involved, however, the list shark to one name. "Medea."
  18. Knowledge (History) check. (1d20+10=16)
  19. "Well of course we're in," Kimber scoffed, pursing her lips with a faint snort and placing Avro back onto her shoulder with one hand while she balanced the other on her hip. "We're your friends, dummy." The idea of going to another dimension actually gave her pause; she knew she was a lot less tied to a particular location than most poltergeists but that might be pushing her luck. If something happened to there, there was no telling what it would mean. That kind of uncertainty wasn't anything that her teammates didn't deal with every time they went out to fight, however, and she wasn't about to let it slow her down. "If anybody gets mad, they can go jump in lake!"
  20. "Now that's something you don't see every day," Wail commented with genuine surprise, a rare thing for the experienced hero. Part of him felt like he'd been around enough to see all there was to see but it was good to be reminded every now and then just how much there was out in the strange, strange world. "Better build an ice cage around it," he advised as the novelty quickly gave way to seasoned procedure. "Is it going to understand English?"
  21. With an enraged shout that carried a subtly artificial edge, Argo smashed massively enlarged fists into the dock. "Unacceptable! Surrender the zero point generator, puny meatsack!" the Ultimate Android roared at Trap Door as he stretched his neck a full meter above his shoulders to survey the battlefield. "Who you callin' puny, stupid!" Smash retorted, zipping forward with speed he was obviously unaccustomed to and unsuccessfully attempting to tackle one of the grey artificial being's arms. Meanwhile, Grab had managed to levitate herself into the air, maintaining her aerial balance long enough to fire off a few more inaccurate lightning bolts from her hands, a dangerous grin beginning to spread across her face. "Zero point--? I told you that thing didn't look like a 'giant sapphire'!" Get-Away accused as she ducked behind a nearby shipping crate for cover. In his haste to make it to the doorway under which he stood, Trap Door had evidently failed to take such things into consideration, leaving his quite exposed. "Perhaps that discussion can wait for a later time, my midnight flower!" he called back, diving out of the way just before an errant blast of electricity scorched the warehouse wall. In doing so, he lost his grip on the Quantum Bauble, sending it spinning end over end overhead as the concealed Cobalt Templar watched!
  22. Argo the Ultimate Android: Initiative. (1d20+36=45) (Larceny Inc.'s combined powers.) Get-Away: Initiative. (1d20+4=6) (Siren's powers.) Grab: Initiative. (1d20+3=20) (Captain Thunder's powers.) Smash: Initiative. (1d20+42=50) (Johnny Rocket's powers.) Trap Door: Initiative. (1d20+7=27) (???'s powers.) 50 - Smash - Uninjured 45 - Argo - Uninjured 27 - Trap Door - Uninjured 20 - Grab - Uninjured 7 - Cobalt Templar - Uninjured, 3HP 6 - Get-Away - Uninjured Corbin is already on the scene, of course. Eve and Sharl are fast enough to get to the fight in one round once they meet up and decide what they're doing. Riding on the paper airplane once Indira is changed, the others with take two rounds to get there. Citizen's earlier Initiative roll of 24 stands; everyone else can hit me with their rolls to be added into the round as they arrive.
  23. "No. Definitely weird," Trevor confirmed bluntly. He didn't really have speak any more softly than normal but he did pitch his voice so as not to carry. Their frame of reference might have been somewhat skewed by their own ambient strangeness but the analytical young man decided that experience made them uniquely qualified to recognize weirdness when they encountered it. "...which team are the Heroes?" he asked after a moment of failed recollection. If they were going to stay around he wanted to at least have plenty of topics to steer the conversation toward.
  24. Still sputtering in barely contained outrage and disbelief, the mystic in the blue robes nevertheless bent her knees slightly, dropping into a ready stance and raising the hand not occupied with maintaining the spell dampening the electromagnetic field in the area. Making an arcane gesture and muttering something under her breath that was either an incantation or detailing what she'd have liked to do to her supposed bodyguard, she loosed crackling crimson bolts toward Erik and Chris. At first they seemed to hit pavement about the heroes' feet harmlessly, but a beat later the street cracked open, pelting them with chunks of roadway as something ruptured underground. The remaining members of the House of Swords seemed as surprised by the attack as the Interceptors but quickly moved to capitalize on it.
