  1. HoS Hexcrafter Standard Action: Attack Jack of all Blades, Geckoman. (1d20+10=30) Oh. Uh. Snap. That's a Targeted Area attack, so she actually hit both of them with that natural 20. Jack of all Blades Toughness Save vs. DC 25. (1d20+7=20) Bruised and Dazed. 2. Improbably, Kimber had actually managed to finish the stack of pancakes that had been placed before her before they were interrupted, although she did have to nod in answer to Eve's instructions as she chewed vigourously. Shouting muffled praise to the diner staff around a mouthful of food as they ran out the door, she was soon grabbing Indira by the arm and dragging her into a nearby alleyway before producing one of the origami pieces Koshiro had prepared for her from a hoodie pocket and enlarging it with a little concentration to produce another pair of walls and a ceiling around them. Turning her back to give her roommate privacy, the temporarily corporeal girl hesitated a beat before turning back about. "Since I probably won't get a chance to do this later," she explained hurriedly before wrapping the taller teen in a tight bear hug. "I think I was probably a big hugger when I was alive-- the first time, I mean," she admitted without letting go, "and I just wanted to say... thanks for being my best friend. Really truly." With a muted sniff, Kimber released her grip and spun back toward the paper wall, rubbing the sleeve of her borrowed hoodie across her face. "Now hurry up! We gotta get this fixed before Koshiro melts again or Sharl breaks Corbin's ring!"
  3. Using his 'scary voice' AP: Intimidate Check. (1d20+18=22) Ugh.
  4. Wail make a low sound in the back of his throat, nothing so savage as a growl but still a primal noise of pure, threatening menace that carried enough force to rattle the loose pebbles and debris on the ground around them as he stepped forward. "Sucker, you have to be asking yourself just one thing," he told the captive criminal, each syllable hitting with the force of a slap. "How can you go from 'some fool pusher' to 'useful snitch' before you have to find out what happens to fool pushers?" He leaned close enough to look the man in the eye. "Think fast."
  5. "And see you shall!" a voice swept through the cavern like winter winds though a cabin door abruptly flung open. The guards and the captive animals alike were washed in the cold, blue-tinged light coming from the luminous figure who flared into being just high enough off the ground to force them to crane their necks to look up. "Behold! Despair! Exalt!" The being was willowy and feminine but defied description in crude words, her ethereal radiance freezing open eyelids that couldn't bear to blink. "You have done much wickedness," she told them in a whisper that reverberated in their bones, "but I shall give you a chance to make amends. Is this not joyous?" The part of Kimber not subsumed by the release of her preternatural essence watched as the guards' wills gave way in the face of what they were seeing. "You'll remove those earrings, won't you?"
  6. Trevor had honestly been devising a tactful way to excuse them from the table so that Corbin and Quo-Dis could talk in private but a glance at Erin as she seconded the suggestion of switching tactics without retreating changed his mind. He wasn't sure how receptive the recent graduate was going to be to the advice he was likely to give but abandoning the night altogether wasn't doing Corbin any favours, certainly. "Yes," he agreed vaguely with a small, indistinct gesture indicating some larger concept. "Sports."
  7. "What did boards ever do to you?" Erik mock-admonished Baxter. "Anyway, you're half right, Jasmine. We're not going to be worrying about forms immediately but we are going to start off with some general stretches and warm-up exercises." Rising to his feet in a single, fluid motion that seemed like it should have been more difficult than he made it look, the instructor gestured for the others to stand as well. "Not gonna lie, if you haven't done anything like this before, the first session's gonna leave you hurting, but we'll try to take the edge off a bit."
  8. Erik nodded as each of the group limbered up in their own fashion. "Since this is a fairly advanced course, you're each going to be responsible for your own stretches beforehand," he explained. "If you need some advice, by all means, but you're not all going to be using the same muscles to the same extents so uniform stretches would be a waste." Once everyone had properly prepared, the fencer walked to the far end of the training room, waving over his shoulder for the students to follow. Along the wall was a shallow but broad cabinet that had probably started out as an affordable, prefabricated piece of furniture before a few modifications. Unlocking it, Erik threw open the double doors to reveal a wide array of swords carefully hung side by side. From simple longswords to rapiers with swept hilts, curving dao to weighty looking hand-and-a-half blades, the collection showed a range of quality and wear, suggesting they had been acquired gradually over time. All of them were either blunted or safely capped, intended only for practice use. "Take your pick," he told them with a small grin, stepping back and watching closely to see what they each decided on.
  9. Kimber's going to drop her Concealment and go for Emotion Control. That's a Perception Area, so anybody who can see her will be affected... including the animals in the cavern. With that in mind, she'll go for Love (in the Galadriel sense, not the creepy sense), at DC 22.
  10. Kimber's mouth hung open slightly ajar as Sharl explained his counterpart's situations, hugging a consternated manticore cub to her chest. "And--and nobody stopped them?" she managed to ask, her expression suggesting she was futilely searching for some way things couldn't possibly have gotten as bad as they clearly must have. She took another look at Sharl's face and snapped her mouth shut, setting her jaw resolutely. "Are we going right now? I should find somebody to watch Avro real quick, then. Maybe Kristin; she's Australian so poisonous animals probably don't bother her at all!" The phantom used one free arm to pump a fist encouragingly. "I've learned some new magic stuff from Nick and the other Parkhurst people, too, that'll help! Er, I mean new 'psychic echo' stuff," she corrected in deference to the skeptical holographic teen. "Don't worry, we'll save them, just like always!"
  11. Wail had let out a short breath in relief when it had become clear that striking Danson had been the correct course of action, but as TOMORROW explianed itself at least in part, the sigh turned to a low, menacing grumble. "Your plan to save humanity from becoming part of an unfeeling machine is to throw the best and brightest of us to the wolves?" he snapped in a voice like sudden thunder, unexpected and close enough to rattle the floor. "Brother, I just hit an unconscious woman in a wheelchair on a hunch; what do you think I'm going to do if you keep going out of your way to tick me off?"
  12. Alright, Sharl knows that they're looking at Argo the Ultimate Android, purportedly Talos' greatest creation. Formed from proto-matter with a micro-singularity as a power source, he's designed to analyze and mimic any superhuman abilities and powers. He also knows that the others four are Larceny Inc, a quartet of super-powered thieves who fancy themselves modern Robin Hoods but who do a lot more 'stealing from the rich' than 'giving to the poor'. In the order they spoke up, they're Get-Away, Grab, Smash and Trap Door, the latter being their leader. They're definitely not using their normal powers, though. Corbin knows that Argo, though designed to copy any superpower, imprinted on the Freedom League the first time he encountered them. He mimicked all of their powers, making him absurdly strong and versatile but he 'locked in' to those powers and hasn't been able to acquire any new ones. The League was able to defeat him by working as a team and using their powers more creatively than Argo could, but any time they've fought it's always been a close call. He's a deadly serious threat.
  13. Actually, hit me up with any Knowledge Checks you think are relevant before we get to brawling, to see what those two know about Argo and Larceny Inc.
  14. This time Erik's laugh was a little longer, stemming from genuine amusement more than a need to dispel unease. Whatever he thought of Tona's manners it evidently took a lot more to get under his skin. "Sure," he agreed amiably, "she could probably help you with your poker face too, Ms. My-Friend-Made-Me-Come." Addressing the group as a whole, he elaborated. "I'm assuming you're not stupid. If you can talk your way through a conflict, you talk. If you can run from a fight, you run. If you can't..." He turned his gaze back to brown haired girl. "...maybe it's worth suffering through one entire class before deciding whether I have anything worth teaching to show you."
  15. Geckoman's attack caught the white leather wearing swordswoman solidly in the ribs, doubling her over with a surprised grunt and a muffled but telltale crunch. Erik maneuvered about to focus on the other two attackers facing him, trying to split up their forces as much as possible. "Hey, don't hate," he called back to the bright green acrobat, matching the House of Swords' idle banter with their own. "Gotta have a little somethin'-somethin' for the ladies, too. Big-n-Tall here knows what I'm talking about." The imposing red haired woman growled under her breath at the fencer's bawdy wink, taking another reckless slash at him with her claymore. Side-stepping the attack, Erik rushed in to capitalize on her off-balance stance, forcing her sword to one side with his own and following up with a brutal kick to the abdomen. The disarmed Dakanan was immediately in his way, stepping between the two combatants. "I consider myself an enlightened fellow," he noted with a trio of feinting attacks meant only to buy time and keep the Jack of all Blades occupied, "but focusing solely on the women present seems unbecoming behaviour." "Says that would-be kidnapper?" Erik balked, matching the show of agility with quick footwork of his own. The bald man gave him a familiarly lopsided grin full of gleaming white teeth. "Well, what is love but a double standard, yes?" Abruptly he ducked down and to one side, allowing the partially recovered highlander to surge through with another near miss. Clearly the pair were well versed in tandem fighting. Meanwhile, the fighter Chris had attacked straightened, gripped her sides with both hands and twisted violently. With another audible snap, her bones evidently reset themselves and she turned her attention back to Geckoman none the worse for wear. "Should have listened to my mother," she told the google-wearing hero with a smirk. "'Regenerators' will only break your heart,' she told me, 'just like your Da.'"

  18. Kimber gaped invisibly for a moment at the sheer number and variety of creatures in the cavern, overwhelmed by their cries and wails. Then her jaw set and the phantom placed her hands on her hips resolutely. "Uh, no. Not gonna fly, not today." The waves of fear coming off of the assembled beasts was palpable; the fact that they were all practically babies just made it all the more abominable. When the giant eaglet's cage began to move apparently all on its own, she reached out with her telekinesis and pulled back. Fine control came easily to her but with the work she'd been doing with Eve a little brute force wasn't out of the question either.
  19. "I figure looking good in tights is a superpower all on its own," Erik agreed with a short laugh, letting any lingering tension seep out of the room. The glib jokes were about the reaction he'd been expecting but if he could save them all some grief later by being direct now it seemed worth a shot. With any luck it would also keep any of his students from wondering too much about his own extracurricular activities. Baxter's inquiry got a surprised but thoughtful look in return. "Alright, fair question. The way I see it, in a world where you've got larger-than-life heroes showing up to save the day, you've got two options," he explained, turning both palms upward as if weighing each choice. "You can decide to be a victim who always needs saving - which, for those of you playing at home, is the stupid option - or you can take inspiration and improve yourself. 'Cause if they can do that, you don't really have much excuse, do you?" After a heavy moment, his serious expression melted into an easy-going smirk once more. "I'm not saying it has to be fighting, but mi hermanita got all the brains in the family, and you're looking at what was left over!"
  20. While the tornado of flashing steel and acrobatic grace was enough to keep anyone's attention, had they been looking down the street, they would have seen the source of the ominous red glow suddenly grow closer followed by the reverberating sound of something landing heavily on the street. The light lurched again, coming close enough now to be recognized as mountain of a man making prodigious leaps toward the battle with a loudly protesting woman slung over his shoulder. Setting her down four or five dozen feet away from the action, he straightened to his full height, towering over anyone save Mona. His squared jaw was bare but a voluminous blond moustache occupied his upper lip and curved around to blend into wild mutton chops. "What are you thinking, you -- you -- !" the woman attempted, angrily brushing off deep blue robes with one hand while she maintained an arcane gesture with the other, the source of the crimson glow. It was difficult to tell under the concealing outfit, but she seemed less physically imposing than the various swordsmen though a strong nose and severe features suggested Socotran or neighbouring heritage. The light she was giving off rippled slightly as it spread outward, subtly implying invisible protections. Her far larger companion grinned broadly - it seemed likely that he did everything broadly - as he retrieved a weapon from his back. While the red haired tactician's claymore was impressively large, this two handed monstrosity was clearly too big for most people to lift let alone wield effectively. "Hah, missed enough of the battle already!" he decided in an indeterminate Eastern European accent. "Now, witch, we fight!" With an expression the mixed certainty that he had to be joking with a growing dread that he wasn't, the practitioner began to retort, "That is not what I -- !" but he was already charging into the melee with a roar.
  21. Kristof, the HoS 'Atlas' is sick of sitting around! He grabs the Hexcrafter and uses Leaping and a full round action to get most of the way to the fight (both of them are still at least a Move Action away if anyone is looking to head them off). Meanwhile, Geckoman's Regeneration peels off one of his bruises, and he's up. 27 - Geckoman - Bruised x1, 2HP 27 - Jack of all Blades - Bruised x1, 8HP, Fatigued Next Round 25 - HoS Zorro - Unconscious 24 - HoS Swashbuckler - Uninjured, +2 Master Plan 23 - HoS Pirate - Uninjured, -5 Defense, +2 Master Plan, Disarmed 16 - HoS Barbarian - Uninjured, -5 Defense, +2 Master Plan (1 Round) 15 - Fulcrum - Bruised x3, Dazed, Staggered, -3 Constitution, -7 Toughness, 1HP (+8 Toughness/10 Impervious) 14 - HoS Hexcrafter - Uninjured 11 - Dragonfly - Bruised x1, 3HP 7 - HoS Atlas - Uninjured 6 - HoS Swordsmen (x10) - Unconscious
  22. By calling up the "Eve’s Elevation" setting on her Friendship Array, Kimber can get up to Telekinesis 4, effectively Strength 20 and 400 lbs as a heavy load. If that enough force to keep the cage from traveling on its way?
  23. "Hey, I've barely ruined any of your computer stuff lately!" Kimber protested when Sharl singled her out to illustrate the mainframe's durability. "I'm totally not even that bad! You know how many of the machines in the school lab get all, like, melted and stuff each year? ...a lot, probably!" The phantom floated about the place with her arms folded and knees tucked underneath her. The Archetech facility was pretty fancy, she had to admit, the Wonderbus had had more personality by her standards at least. The gleaming metal and high-tech wonders were a little sterile in comparison though undoubtedly more practical. She coasted back through the air when Sharl spoke up again. "A 'thing'? Ooh! Is she on a date?!" she interjected. "Miss Americana's super pretty, I bet it's a date." As suddenly as that train of though had arisen, it was soon pushed out of the way as she noticed the holographic teen's distraction. "Hey, is everything okay? Checking out bases was your idea in the first place, right?"
  24. LaMarr's eyebrows rose just over the edges of his sunglasses as he listened to Eliza's explanation. He didn't doubt what she said about her father; he's heard and seen stranger in his day. Magic and mysticism weren't his areas of expertise by any stretch of the imagination but he's dealt with enough juju, good and bad, to know it was as real as it was strange. Invisible crow demons were a little harder to swallow, but if he squinted he was pretty sure he could make out the crumbling bricks his student was trying to point out. "Alright, so you can seem 'em and you know they're bad news. What's your plan?"
  25. "Woah, haha!" the woman in white crowed as the older man went down. "Now it's a party! Don't go anywhere, lima bean," she told Geckoman as she launched easily into a backflip toward the new arrival, "I'll save you the last dance!" Her confidence proved to be larger than her ability, however, as a whirling tornado of steel scimitar was directed aside by a deft parry of Erik's borrowed rapier. The Dakanan was close behind her recovering quickly from the loss of his sword with a feinting approach. "Even with the mantle disabled, you are indeed impressive, cousin!" he lauded the West End native. "Like you, however, I have more than one card to play!" A flurry of kicks and punches aimed for the side exposed by his allies attack proved him to be an able hand-to-hand fighter as well, forcing Erik to switch up his stance once again to avoid them. Finally, the claymore wielder simply grunted in a manner which suggested her low opinion of all the banter and lashed out with her oversized weapon, moving the heavy metal with seemingly impossible speed and accuracy. In its wake it left ripped fabric and a long, red line across exposed sienna skin. With a grunt of his own, Erik slipped back a step, rolling his jaw. He was confident he could beat any one of his well-removed relatives on their own, but three-on-one it was only a matter of time before they wore him down. The longer he kept their attention, however, the more time Chris and Mona had to recover and turn the tide. With his empty hand he finished tearing his shirt in half and tossed the ruined clothing to the street. The wicked looking cut he'd just received joined a criss-cross of scars, most thin and nearly faded, others round and still puckered. Whipping his sword around with a flick of his wrist, he smirked silently at his attackers and beckoned them to try again.
