  1. Midnight II Move Action: Auto-30 Startle vs. Wildcard Standard Action: Escrima Stick Attack vs. Wildcard; Power Attack 5, Sneak Attack 2, Inspire 5. (1d20+14=22) Let me know if that works or not.
  2. LaMarr was silent for a long moment, studying Eliza's masked face, looking for signs of the expression behind it. He rolled the question around in his head for long enough for the quiet to become appreciable, deciding how to answer. "You're asking if I've seen anyone go down swinging?" he quietly clarified finally, very purposefully meeting the teenager's eyes. "Yes. I've lost friends. My best friends." He suspected it wasn't the answer the girl had been hoping for though she must have expected it and he wasn't about to lie to her. He paused, waiting to see if she wanted to hear more or leave it at that.
  3. The Dakanan with the daka crystal sword slid smoothly back a step, rubbing his jaw with a small smile, his interest evidently piqued. The redhairded woman growled noticeaby under her breath at the blow, but her partner chided her calmly. "Really, Audrey, you must not be so protective. She worries," he told Fulcrum conversationally, the casual banter in the middle of the fight underscoring the familiar attitude of the assembled swordsmen. "The crimson glow, though... that does interest me." As he mused aloud, the rest of the hooded group joined the fray, taking their cue from the more formidable among them. Both Chris and Mona found themselves beset by another pair of flashing blades. These attacks weren't trying to actually strike home but they were keeping the heroes busy while more devastating blows were lined up. Meanwhile a half dozen or so of the group made a beeline for the Espadas' front door, focused on whatever goal had brought them there.
  4. The Hexcrafter and Atlas are too far away to really be involved just yet, so! Swordsmen 1, 2: Move Action: Flank Geckoman. Standard Action: Aid Attack for Zorro. (1d20+3=22, 1d20+3=9) +2 3, 4: Move Action: Flank Fulcrum. Standard Action: Aid Attack for Pirate. (1d20+3=21, 1d20+3=19) +4 5 - 10: Move Action x2: Head for Espadas House Geckoman is up, but since the Swordsmen are at the front door, this may be a good opportunity for anyone inside to take a look! Also, Chris is probably going to want to spend that HP to avoid fatigue. 27 - Geckoman - Bruised x1, Dazed, 3HP, fatigued next round 25 - HoS Zorro - Bruised x1, +2 on next attack vs. Geckoman 24 - HoS Swashbuckler - Uninjured 23 - HoS Pirate - Uninjured, -2 Defense, +4 on next attack vs. Fulcrum 16 - HoS Barbarian - Uninjured 15 - Fulcrum - Bruised x1, 1HP, -1 Constitution 14 - HoS Hexcrafter - Uninjured 7 - HoS Atlas - Uninjured 6 - HoS Swordsmen (x10) - Uninjured
  5. "Gruyere is Swiss with more vitamins," Trevor informed Erin as he assembled burgers based on the specifications given out. The mysost was a little sweet and buttery for his taste but he suspected it was an excellent choice for Mark and Joe seemed pleased enough with it himself. None of that was anything the young detective could have attested to before preparing for the barbeque but he did like to do his research before tackling any new task. For all that, he was content to stick with a particularly sharp cheddar for himself, garnished with a traditional if not terribly inspired combination of fresh, locally grown lettuce and tomato. Producing a pad of paper from his back pocket with one hand while eating with the other, he jotted down the grocer he'd gotten the mysost from, tore off the page neatly and handed it to Joe. "Don't tempt it."
  6. "Discretion, right," Kimber confirmed, nodding quickly as she scanned the room, making sure to school her expression into perfect neutrality and stay close to her disguised roommate. The former lasted for all of roughly five seconds before her eyes lit up. "Ohmigoodness, look at all the rad dresses! That one, with all the ruffles and the..." She indicated the design element she found interesting with broad hand gestures that had the startled manitcore on her shoulders shifting its weight about nervously. "And the colours on that one and the-- I'm not really sure how that one's staying on. Probably magic right there, I bet. And they've got a band, do you think there'll be dancing? I haven't gone dancing in... well, I dunno, maybe I've never gone dancing!" The phantom's gushing praise threatened to give them away if only because of how long she was going without taking a breath.
  7. Midnight wasn't sure about the 'radar' Cimitiere was suggesting - he'd almost have preferred that the necromancer stick to mystical jargon rather than drawing parallels with technological equivalents the engineer actually understood - but he didn't raise any objections, trusting for the time being that the expert knew what he was talking about. The prospect of a supernaturally built fortress, however, didn't phase him. "Has to be able to get out," he noted of the bulwark's creator. The logical inverse followed easily. "I can get in."
  8. Wail took the lash across his shoulder with a faint grunt but looked largely unphased by the attack or the taunt. "With age comes the wisdom to know when to stand your ground, girl," he told the red clad woman in a level tone, setting his feet into the subterranean room's floor with a audible crumbling sound. Inhaling, he waited for Ms. Scarlet to draw back for another attack, carefully watching the villain's movements. Without warning or preamble, the aging educator let loose a devastating sonic bellow, tightly controlled into a lance of concussive force as wide around as a tree truck. The hammering vibrations caught Ms. Scarlet squarely in the chest, sending his surprised opponent toppling backward in an uncontrolled spin, her woven cable trailing behind.
  9. The three trounced members of the Factor Four clearly weren't going anywhere any time soon, so as distant sirens grew louder to mix with the museum's own alarms, Kimber dashed off in the direction Eve had disappeared to when the villains first arrived, reappearing with an armful of civilian clothes and shoving them cheerfully into Indira's arms. Papercut usually got away with walking about in his graffiti tagged hoodie without drawing too much attention and Sage's new, Tronik style coat would look normal enough once it was done up. With the more conspicuous Cobalt Templar and Citizen wading about the bottom of the river, looking for the Bauble with Wraith's remote assistance, the freshly corporeal teen was confident the rest of the group would be able to avoid attention at least long enough to get something to eat. "~Pancakes, pancakes, pancakes...!~" Bringing up the rear as the team excused themselves out the emergency exit and headed toward the bay with the river to their right, Ghost Girl glanced at the pile of French gymnast sized clothing she'd dumped on her roommate. "Er... are you going to need a hand with those?"
  10. HoS Pirate DC 10 Demoralize - Negated by Fearless Toughness Save vs. DC 30. (1d20+12=31) Dun dun dun! I'll hold off until you've posted IC. 27 - Geckoman - Brusided x1, Dazed, 3HP, fatigued next round 25 - HoS Zorro - Bruised x1 24 - HoS Swashbuckler - Uninjured 23 - HoS Pirate - Uninjured, -2 Defense 16 - HoS Barbarian - Uninjured 15 - Fulcrum - Bruised x1, 1HP, -1 Constitution 14 - HoS Hexcrafter - Uninjured 7 - HoS Atlas - Uninjured 6 - HoS Swordsmen (x10) - Uninjured
  11. Ah, I must not have scrolled up far enough to see that, sorry. For the sake of argument, Wail's caps are actually at PL13, not that it made a difference here.
  12. Wail Move Action: Demoralize Ms. Scarlet. (1d20+5=21) Standard Action: Sonic Wail; All-Out Attack 5. (1d20+13=26) That's a DC 33 Toughness Save. Also, sidebar, where are you getting DC 28 from for Ms. Scarlet's attack? If her Attack is +15 and her Damage is +13, that would make her PL14; in the book at least she's PL11.
  13. Kimber gave Sharl and Lora's backs a guilty look as they stepped outside; she hadn't meant to make the dog unsettled or cut short the time Sharl could spend with her. Avro, for his part, had apparently already forgotten about the larger animal, scampering after the mouse. Cornering and releasing it a few times, he finally lashed out with one paw, skewering the paper construct neatly. Happily devouring half of it, the disguised kitten abruptly stopped and looked over his shoulder at Koshiro with big eyes. Picking up the back half of the mouse in his mouth, he padded over to the Detroit native and dropped the kill at his feet, purring again and rubbing against his shins. "He's been practicing on squirrels and things in the park," Kimber told Indira, shaking her head in bemusement at Avro's rambunctiousness. "Ooh, you mean like a clubhouse? That sounds great!"
  14. "Now I'm thinking about drowning," Trevor groused under his breath, taking a slow breath and following Erin's lead, somersaulting after her. The maneuver was technically proficient - it was, after all, a lot like the training he'd done underwater - but it didn't have quite the practiced grace of his usual movements. It didn't seem to be a question of coordination so much as comfort level. Trevor was clearly overthinking things and was acutely aware that he was overthinking things and the whole situation was a bit of a recursive snarl. "...right," he muttered aloud, inwardly counting backward from one hundred to steady himself and clear his mind.
  15. From the shadows, Midnight watched the newcomer carefully. Vanguard matched the description of someone who'd cropped up in a few other American cities, demonstrating military training and hardware. The AEGIS rifle put the legacy hero slightly on edge; whether he'd come by it legitimately or not, access to that tech didn't immediately recommend him. More than that, Midnight knew they themselves had responded quickly to the silent alarm, teleporting into the museum. It wasn't impossible for Vanguard to have already been there but it was certainly suspicious. They'd have to sort that out later, however, with the current fight already underway. Without bothering with banter or threats, he appeared from nowhere to bring an escrima stick down across the back of Wildcard's head in a simple, devastating blow. He wasn't taking any chances with anyone who dealt in Edge's stock and trade.
  16. Midnight II Move Action: Hide in Plain Sight, Skill Mastery Stealth 30. Standard Action: Escrima Stick Attack vs. Wildcard; Power Attack 5, Sneak Attack 2, Inspire 5. (1d20+14=22) Jeeze. Hero Point: Escrima Stick Attack vs. Wildcard; Power Attack 5, Sneak Attack 2, Inspire 5, HP Reroll. (1d20+14=19) ...yeah. Well, that's a 29, and a DC 30 Toughness Save.
  17. Wail shook his head subtly, arms folded as he followed at the back of the small procession, his footfalls heavy even as he stepped carefully. "Not sure. It's a stereotype with folks with fire powers, but Danson really was a hothead." He kept his voice low, something of a feat with the amount of reverberating force his broad chest and the lungs within could generate. "If the girl's anything like her momma, might not want to press her buttons too hard." It wasn't much, but it was about the only advice he could think to give. He hadn't been faking his anger over the attack on the school and he wasn't feeling particularly inclined toward calm, deductive consideration. Keeping his composure despite it all, he kept his eyes on the woman leading them.
  18. Behind Geckoman, two more of the swordsmen circled Fulcrum, a little more wary of this target. For her own part, the heroine had more than one thing to worry about; besides watching Chris' back and preventing their opponents from reaching the Espadas' house, she was also the only one still equipped to reach the ominous red light in a timely manner and the set of bracelets and anklets that kept her energies in check had stopped functioning along with all of the other electronics in the area. Full use of her powers would be a dangerous risk. "Ah, the giantess," one remarked, pulling back his hood over a shaven head, showing the chiseled features and assured bearing of a Dakanan. "Kristof will be vexed; he was so sure he would face you first, guarding the magician. More luck to me, then!" The man drew forth a blade reminiscent of a cavalry saber and charged forward in a curving, circuitous route before spinning about in a whirlwind of kicks and slashes. The unarmed blows barely registered to the Terminus powered woman but surprisingly the diamond-like sword bit into her. Daka crystal. It's wielder said nothing to suggest he was aware of her vulnerability to the substance beyond its inherent impressive qualities but already she could feel her strength being slowly sapped by the exposure. The next attacker snorted, her hood already back to accommodate a thick brick red braid as wide as an average forearm and long enough to reach past her broad shoulders and down to her waist. "Hah, we better save him a souvenir then, Nassor! Y'know how tetchy Kristof gets," she called. Reaching behind her back, the muscular woman pulled forth a massive broadsword and leapt toward Fulcrum with athletic precision, bringing her weapon down in a punishing, two-handed blow.
  19. There was a beat of silence outside as the gathered swordsmen regarded Geckoman and Fulcrum back to back. Then, laughter ranging from politely restrain chuckles from the goateed man Chris had been addressing directly to resounding guffaws from the blonde woman in the white jacket. "Do you always consider a woman commenting on your body an attempt at intimidation, luv?" she asked, still grinning in a lopsided manner that was oddly familiar, bringing her scimitar off of her shoulder and flexing her arm absently. "Or does that work for you?" "Enough, Patricia," the older man cut in with a faint smile and the lightly chiding tone of a dotting uncle. "I feel we owe you an apology, fils. You misunderstand our purpose. We were not attempting to, ah, 'talk our way by you', yes?" He lifted his longsword slightly to draw the green-clad hero's attention to it. "As you say, we have come armed and seeking a fight quite specifically. And so!" Without further preamble, the Frenchman was surging forward with the speed and grace that belied the salt-and-pepper in his hair. The padded sound of his footfalls was overshadowed by the flapping of his longcoat and the slice of metal through air. He clearly saw the blow Geckoman had prepared and rather than attempting to avoid it took it solidly on his lightly armored shoulder, twisting with the punch to carry the younger man off balance just enough to open him up to an attack from the flashing scimitar of his ally. The white-clad woman had been a mere step behind the other swordsman, ducking down as she sprinted forward then surging upward with a backhanded slash of her weapon in the opening present to her. Her hood fell back as she moved, loosing a platinum blonde pixie cut and her face came close enough to Chris' for him to see the white flash of teeth exposed by a grin. It was less the empty, mad look the hero saw all too often on his opponents than the expression of someone genuinely enjoying herself.
  20. Before I forget, the same effect that's shutting down electrical effect has also disabled Fulcrum's power dampeners, meaning she's bathing everyone around her in Terminus radiation, whether they can tell just yet or not. Probably going to want to do something about that. HoS "Zorro" Bluff Check vs. DC 31. (1d20+16=28) Move Action: Approach Geckoman. Standard Action: Aid Attack. (1d20+11=30) Toughness Save vs. DC 20. (1d20+5=16) Bruised. HoS "Swashbuckler" Move Action: Approach Geckoman. Standard Action: Attack Geckoman. (1d20+16=33) That's DC 21 Toughness. HoS "Pirate" Move Action: Feint vs. Fulcrum. (1d20+5=19) Standard Action: Charge Fulcrum. (1d20+10=27) That's a DC 22 Fortitude Save vs. Drain Toughness followed by a DC 27 Toughness Save (with Penetrating 4, incidentally.) What fearsome blade is this?! Why, it's made of daka crystal, obviously. Oops. HoS "Barbarian" Move Action: Approach Fulcrum. Standard Action: Attack Fulcrum. (1d20+10=21) That's DC 25 Toughness. 27 - Geckoman - Uninjured, 3HP, fatigued next round 25 - HoS Zorro - Bruised x1 24 - HoS Swashbuckler - Uninjured 23 - HoS Pirate - Uninjured, -2 Defense 16 - HoS Barbarian - Uninjured 15 - Fulcrum - Uninjured, 2HP, -1 Constitution 14 - HoS Hexcrafter - Uninjured 7 - HoS Atlas - Uninjured 6 - HoS Swordsmen (x10) - Uninjured
  21. Can I get the results for Skill Mastery 20 Gather Information with Well Informed, 25 Notice and 25 Sense Motive on Vanguard?
  22. The manticore kitten removed the necessity for a handbag by scampering up Kimber's bare arm as the car stopped, draping himself about her shoulders like a particularly exotic ermine stole before yawning and closing his eyes again, apparently perfectly content to doze whatever the position. Remembering just in time to actually open the door of the car before getting out, the disguised phantom made a few last minute changes to her face to look a little more like a relation of the necromancer and moved to stand beside the car with her hands on her hips. The dead eyes of the phenomenally bored were actually fairly easy for her to emulate as she glanced about and tried to give the impression of waiting to be impressed.
  23. Supposing the selection was appropriate for the date, Trevor nodded faintly and opened the door on a small refrigerated unit covered in solar panels that both redirected the scorching rays from its contents and fed its self-contained powercell. Within was a staggering selection of condiments including a number of different cheeses. "Cheddar, gruyere, bleu, mysost, limburger...?" he further questioned without turning back around, his crisp enunciation and usual gravitas carrying the words easily to the others. With his other hand, the young man lifted one of the monstrous grill's coverings, revealing a selection of buns already toasting. "White bun? Whole wheat? Sesame, poppy, herbs? Toasted rye bread, too, if you like." Typically, he had planned for every contingency.
  24. LaMarr grunted contemplatively. "Maybe so. My thinking's always been that it's the principle of the thing, though. If you can't be trusted with the little things, why should anybody count on you when the big time hits?" He watched the steam rising from the untouched coffee in front of him, his eyes getting a far-away look as they focused on something years in the past. "Holds true the other way around, too. You give an inch, well. That's an inch you might not get back." Finally, he picked up the cup carefully, barely pressing with his fingers and he took a quiet sip and set it back down. "Which is the kind of advice I'd offer. Hypothetically. If somebody were asking."
