  3. Opposed Obscure Check vs. 15. (1d20+3=19)
  4. Midnight beat back the telekinetic assault mentally as much as physically, falling back on training exercises with Sage once again. The sight on the Night Cycle crippled beneath him brought a sharp tightness to his chest but the stoic young hero did not hesitate for an instant as he retrieved Redbird's egg as it reformed out of silvery metal between the handlebars, the autonomic machine intelligence shocked into unconsciousness by the trauma of the sneak attack by Madrigal. Gently stowing it away, he drew forth a pair of miniaturized rockets and adhered them to opposite sides of the plummeting vehicle. --Stick to plan. Free Edge,-- his calmly ordered thoughts came over the telepathic network. --Mystic practitioner hanging back. Powerful telekinetic. Neutralize.-- Wind rushing by with a deafening howl, he activated the boosters with a tap at his wrist, using the thrust and his knees to maneuver. He couldn't stop the fall, but he could control where he and the Night Cycle came down. Redbird had given them a quick briefing on the Hounds and their mistress, beyond what was already common knowledge. Madrigal had powerful regenerative capabilities; she could afford to simply fall to the ground knowing that the impact would only slow her down momentarily. Moreover stronger magics than the engineer had ever had to deal with before completely shielded her from harm from any weapon, any tool designed with combat and destruction in mind. Fortunately, Midnight was nothing if not a superb improviser. "Bad move," he informed the Annihilist terse in the brief moment their paths brought them close enough for her to hear him before the Night Cycle collided directly with Madrigal's face, coming down directly on top of her as they hit the ground. Simultaneously, stygian black smoke erupted from his sleeves, enveloping the area is a cloud of impenetrable mist. "Wondered what happens when a god dies?" Midnight's voice echoed from within the cloud, cold and razor sharp. "Where that power goes?"
  5. Right, of course she is. That's what I get for trying to hedge my bets. She can't see through the midnight mist though, right?
  6. Midnight II Move Action: Remove Redbird's egg from the Night Cycle and stow her away. Free Action: Arrange Gadgets: Flight 1 (Extras: Affects Others, Flaws: Gliding) [2PP] Damage 10 (Extras: Linked, Power Feats: Improved Critical 2) [12PP] + Trip 10 (Extras: Linked, Flaws: Range [Touch], Power Feats: Improved Trip) [6PP] Standard Action: Falling With Style; Charge, Power Attack 5, Inspire 5. (1d20+16=25) Free Action: Midnight Mist. Extra Effort: Surge. Standard Action: Auto DC 35 Startle vs. Madrigal. That's a DC 30 Toughness Save and a check vs. an Opposed Trip Power Check. (1d20+10=23) plus the DC 35 save against Intimidation.
  7. Outwardly at least, Trevor didn't seem to be concerned at all. Which, admittedly, didn't provide much in the way of insight into how he may or may not have actually been feeling. "Good question," he responded tersely to Mark's question, eyes never leaving al-Arima from behind his sunglasses. In rapid succession, the young detective made several deductions. Morakot was not fool enough to be ignorant of his bride's nature; even the illusions provided by the ring were not so complete. He was a willing participant in keeping the secret, then, desperate enough to risk his father's ire at giving up the powerful trinket in the first place. This had been no ploy to put a serpent on the throne of Socotra, else the assassins would have waited until after the wedding. The way Nephthys' hands went to her stomach when under threat of attack, however, was truly all the observation necessary. "Pregnant," he noted for the benefit of the others in the room, evidently well past the point of delicacy. "Your people object. Strongly."
  8. Alright, everything with a electricity or electromagnetic descriptor just went out in about a block radius. That includes Erik's metamagi sense and energy manipulation, Ellie's bioelectrical array, Chris' taser gadgets and Mara's armor. This is the opportunity to describe that for your character and/or make the case for why something else should or shouldn't be effected.
  9. Ellie ducked her head into the bathroom when she heard Willow's sharp breathing, but said nothing when it became clear that the dryad had remembered her breathing exercises and had the situation under control. The young medic swore that she nearly had a heart-attack every time Willow had a contraction but she did her level best to at least appear calm for the other woman's sake. "Yeah, we're all pretty thankful mi hermano knocked up less planet-killy sister," she confirmed dryly, belying the warm smile she offered along with the quip. In the living room, Erik gave Mona a nonplussed look, evidently trying to determine whether or not she was making fun of him. "Dios, Mo', could you be a bigger ham?" he asked with a worn-out chuckle, running one hand through the hair on the back of his head. "And let's put a pin in the 'cage' idea for now, Mara," the fencer suggested with a lopsided grin in the inventor's direction, though he added more quietly, "Not that I'm ruling it out..." Suddenly making a face, he turned back to the window muttering something about a crackling red aftertaste. "Mulitmedia, eh? Well I -- wait." Vince stopped in the middle of whatever punchline he'd been set to deliver, his image freezing momentarily while he devoted the whole of his processing power to something else. When he started moving again a moment later, his voice came from both the laptop and Chris' pager. "Hey gang, it's probably nothing, but I'm reading a weird EM build-uzzZZHKzz...!" With a surge of static, Vince's voice went silence and the lights in the house flickered out. Erik let out a shout, clutching the side of his head, while a stream of profanity came from Ellie in the next room over.
  10. They are through the hole and outside, yeah. Admittedly two miles is probably straining credibility for Perception, but in my defense I have a fundamentally awful concept of how far that actually is in practice! *cough* The hole in the wall and ceiling is pretty big, so let's assume Citizen and Fire!Fathom are visible, albeit very tiny. I figure the fact that they're made of fire makes it a little easier at least! If they get any further out, though, that'll definitely be too far for anyone still at the museum to affect.
  11. That'll definitely allow him to Shapeshift without worrying about the Concentration check, yeah!
  12. Actually, you don't get an attack bonus but it's +20 anyway because Move Object gives you double it's rank as a bonus when used to Grapple! So, y'know, that works out just fine. Fire!Professor Fathom Opposed Grapple vs. DC 33. (1d20+7=13) Well snap. 34 - Sage - Brusied x1, 7HP 24 - Cobalt Templar - Uninjured, -2 Defense, 3HP 22 - Sylph - Uninjured, -3 Strength 20 - Citizen - Uninjured, 4HP 13 - Wraith - Uninjured, 4HP 11 - Papercut - Uninjured, 6HP 11 - Granite - Uninjured 10 - Pyre - Staggered 7 - Ghost Girl - Uninjured, 4HP 4 - Professor Fathom - Uninjured, Bound/Helpless
  13. Having flickered into her heroic persona as quickly as Indira had melted into her natural form, Kimber was just behind her friend, floating through the air with her tattered reaper's cloak flapping in a breeze that technically passed right through her unhindered. "Woah, freaky snake-critter-thing!" she observed perceptively before spotting the hero already on the scene and brightening as she clapped her hands together. "Hey, it's Nick! Hi, Nick! Wow, you're totally awesome at tracking bad guys down, eh? We just happened to be nearby, but I'll bet you were all doing detective stuff and everything! Oh, this is Wraith, by the way! Sorry, being totally rude!" She turned back to her roommate and indicated the skull-faced necromancer enthusiastically. "This is Nick! You'll like him for sure, he's all about finding bad ghost and sending them to the afterlife and stuff like that." She wasn't entirely up on all the details but that sounded like something of which Indira's goddess would approve. "Say, why're you covering your eyes, anyway?" Finally remembering why they were there, she blurted, "...oh, right! Monster!" Swooping down she delivered a haymaker of a punch to the snake creature that naturally passed right through it's scaly hide and sent her into a bit of an uncontrolled spin. In the process, however, her unliving chill sapped a bit of the powerful beast's strength, slowing its movements.
  14. Ghost Girl Move Action: Fly to basilisk. Standard Action: Drain Strength vs. Basilisk. (1d20+12=31) Hero Point: Power Stunt Improved Critical to turn that natural 19 into a crit. That makes it a DC 27 Fortitude Save!
  15. Quick aside, Mark's Inspire should actually be a +5 bonus (number of ranks in the feat) that affects up to 7 allies (Charisma bonus). So he could totally Inspire Changeling, too, if he so chose!
  16. Sylph gave a cry out shock and outrage at the attack. It wasn't clear whether she was more taken aback by the strength sapping nature of the ghostly touch or simply by having a solid body to be affected in the first place. Regardless, it didn't do much more than startle her given the massive physical power now at her command. Grabbing a nearby marble pillar in stoney fingers, she ripped a sizable length of it free and used it like a club to demolish part of the museum wall, leading out into the street. The backswing passed harmlessly though Cobalt Templar - or through Corbin, at least - before Slyph dropped the debris and continued fleeing the scene.
  17. Rock!Sylph Fortitude Save vs. DC 22. (1d20+10=19) -3 Strength She's still more than strong enough to punch through the museum wall, however, and will do so on her turn, continuing to flee. Go ahead and post IC, KD. I'll get a GM post up for Slyph, then it's Citizen's turn. 34 - Sage - Brusied x1, 7HP 24 - Cobalt Templar - Uninjured, -2 Defense, 3HP 22 - Sylph - Uninjured, -3 Strength 20 - Citizen - Uninjured, 4HP 13 - Wraith - Uninjured, Shaken, 4HP 11 - Papercut - Uninjured, 6HP 11 - Granite - Uninjured 10 - Pyre - Staggered 7 - Ghost Girl - Uninjured, 4HP 4 - Professor Fathom - Uninjured
  18. Initiative. (1d20+3=13)
  19. "Outrageous!" Kimber Storm exclaimed enthusiastically, flitting about a few steps in one direction then another as she attempted to take in as much of Pyramid Plaza as quickly as she possibly could. The teenage ghost had reached her absolute limit for boredom staying cooped up night after night in the Claremont Academy dorm room she shared with Indira Singh while the more meat-comprised students slept. With the sun down, she was actually able to walk about the people of Freedom, presenting herself convincingly as an ordinary girl and with so much to see in the city just beyond the school's walls, bending the curfew rules had seemed not only acceptable but a moral imperative! It hadn't taken much at all to convince Indira to come along and between invisibility, intangibility, shapeshifting and stealth training it hadn't taken much to slip out undetected, either. The famous plaza had been the first stop Kimber had insisted on and so far it seemed to be living up to the enthusiastic poltergeist's expectations. She alternated between pointing out every little thing she spotted to her roommate and being distracted by some other curiosity. Scrunchie fastened sideways ponytail bouncing about her shoulders, it was all she could do to keep her feet rooted to the ground. When the screaming began, however, her attention focused entirely on the panicking crowd fleeing from the nearby apartments. "Yikes! What's going on over there? Let's check it out!"
  20. Well, that's Perception range so it does hit! But it's heat vision and Professor Fathom currently has Pyre's powers... including Immunity to fire damage. I'm gonna have to rule that doesn't even phase him. Still, a nice moment for someone still getting used to their new powers and their opponent's new powers, too! Go ahead and post IC.
  21. The Factor Four are all moving all-out, legging it (metaphorically, in some cases) for the exit. For simplicity's sake, we're back in the same rounds to see if the team can stop any of them before they escape with the Bauble. 34 - Sage - Brusied x1, 7HP 24 - Cobalt Templar - Uninjured, 4HP 22 - Sylph - Uninjured 20 - Citizen - Uninjured, 4HP 13 - Wraith - Uninjured, Shaken, 4HP 11 - Papercut - Uninjured, 6HP 11 - Granite - Uninjured 10 - Pyre - Staggered 7 - Ghost Girl - Uninjured, 4HP 4 - Professor Fathom - Uninjured
  22. "Cee Tee! You're dead!" Kimber gaped, pulling back her hood with one hand and planting the other on the side of her face. Feeling the warmth of her hand against her cheek, she pulled it back immediately. "And I'm not!" Patting herself down frantically, she attempted to take stock. "I've got skin and bones and a stomach and..." Reaching into her pocket, she produced a folded piece of rice paper. "...cranes? Ohmigoodness. I killed Cee Tee and stole Papercut's pants." The Canadian looked properly horrified by the revelation. She ducked reflexively as the now fiery Professor Fathom flew overhead, heading for the hole in the roof along with the rest of Factor Four. "H-hey! They've got the thing! You guys, we can't let them get away!"
  23. "Aw, this is just stupid," Pyre groused as he reformed from a dispersed cloud of gas, having clearly taken on Sylph's powerset and form. The usually fiery villain made a couple of quick attempts to fling an errant fireball with predictably little success. "Slyvie, your powers are terrible and I hate them." "Cool it, Connors, ain't her fault," Granite interjected tersely, displeased with the tone his teammate was taking toward Sylph. Smaller than he'd previously been, he was still larger than Professor Fathom in his new, watery body. "Heh. 'Cool it'. Water jokes ain't so tough." All in all, he seemed to be taking the switch at least as calmly as anyone was, stretching his liquid limbs experimentally. For her part, Sylph was obviously distraught. "I'm hideous!" she shrieked as much as her rumbling voice was able to, trashing powerful fists about and leaving crumbling wall and floor in her wake. "Ruined!" "Calm yourself, dear, we'll sort this out soon enough," Fathom responded, raising his burning hand to reveal the Quantum Bauble, untouched by the heat he was generating. "We have what we came for. Factor Four, withdraw!"
  24. Midnight II Opposed Grapple vs. 34. (1d20+19=25) Well! Hugs indeed. Opposed Grapple vs. 34, HP reroll. (1d20+19=36) Luck 4 + Surprise Round + Terminus + Inspire + Redbird Shot - Reroll = 7HP
  25. Even with the civilians removed from the hall, Trevor had little difficulty swiftly moving about unseen. In little time, he'd positioned himself to strike at the smug, would-be assassin menacing the royal couple. He'd intended to simply disarm the attacker, but upon getting closer he spotted that the weapon in the man's hand was in actuality some form of energy construct, a superhuman ability cleverly disguised as something more mundane. But why bother, if he doesn't intend to be caught? The young detective had a feeling he knew how the wheels within wheels were turning, but for the time being he deigned to take a more direct route. Taking some small inspiration from his foe, he pulled a simple but powerful stun button from his jacket, an improved upon device that outwardly appeared to be of a sort easily acquired by any citizen worried about their safety. Between the element of surprise and carefully jabbing a sensitive nerve cluster with the full brunt of his considerable physique, Trevor rendered the insurgent unconscious in a single, decisive blow. "Watch your back, Highness," he warned Morakot calmly, stepping forward and keeping a close eye on al-Arima from behind his sunglasses.
