Kimber looked suitably abashed for having let anything slip in the first place, her hands shooting up to cover her mouth. "Oh! Um, I didn't mean-- That is... it's just an expression?" The poltergeist's shoulders slumped as she heard her own words aloud. "From Canada? In... in the eighties. Yeah. I guess you've probably never heard it before." After just enough silence to be awkward, she moved her hands up from her mouth to cover the rest of her face. "Augh, ohmigosh, it's a good thing I don't know my real name 'cause I'd be awful at secret identities. Sorry, forget I said anything, okay? Please?"

"Ugh," Jill uttered in disgust as she let her force field disappear as suddenly as it had sprung into existence. "Genius move there, make a deal with the guys who want the heat death of the entire freaking multiverse. I'm sure that'll work out just amazing for you," the medic grumbled largely to herself. The revelation of the Terminus' apparently new use of nanites disturbed her more than she allowed to show on her face. Besides not knowing what if anything her powers could do against something like that it reminded her of-- No, shut up brain, it's not the same as with Archeville at all. Focus. Clearly more irritable than before, she rolled her shoulders and turned back to Hudson. "There's always one, amirite? Back to work. This tibia isn't going to unshatter itself!"
-
Jill shot a confident smirk Hudson's way, planting one hand on her hip. She was glad to have the soldier there as an imposing force for crowd control; she could have easily protected herself with force fields if it came down to it but having to reduce any of the refugees to piles of heaving nausea with her less friendly abilities would have been seriously counter-productive. "If we can keep things orderly? Pretty much whatever you can throw my way, solider," she answered before turning to address the crowd as a whole. "Alright folks, I can't make you any less tired or hungry, I'm sorry, that'll have to wait until we can get back. With that in mind, I've got to start with anybody who can't move on their own--" Before she could finish that thought, the confrontation broke out near the elevator. "...yes. Yelling, awesome. Because that is clearly what we needed." Rolling up her sleeves, the metamagi lifted both hands, a deeper blue light appearing about them as an eight foot tall ribbon of bioelectric energy created a solid fence starting in front of here and weaving though the crowd until it reached Harrier and Green Screen, forming a barrier between the two men. "Would you guys save the spazz monkey routine until after I'm done regrowing eyeballs? Dios."
-
Jill recognized the look on Hearbeat's slack features immediately. It was the same one she's seen on nurses hitting the umpteenth hour on their feet, forcing themselves to keep going because the emergencies just wouldn't stop and if they stopped to rest someone was going to die. Never this bad though. Dios, she must have had to deliver the baby without help, too. Before anything else she paused to place and hand on the local woman's shoulder. "Alright, I got this. Okay? Now's probably a lousy time to take a nap, but all you need to worry about now is your baby, deal? 'Cause I'm awful with little kids." With a last reassuring smile, the pre-med student jogged over to the worst injured men. The closest had makeshift bandages the had probably once been bedsheets wrapped around one side of his head, extensive burns still evident around the edges. The arm on the same side he hadn't even bothered to attempt to treat, uniform sleeve and skin alike charred into uselessness. 'Hey, soldier," Jill greeted softly, fishing a small flashlight out of her messenger bag and scanning the man's severe injuries with her eyes. "Way I hear it, you're some sort of super badass school bus saving movie star," she continued conversationally, watching as his one good eye reflexively followed the penlight. Setting it down, she flexed her empty hands, coaxing radiant blue energy to surround them, like sunbeams filtering through a leafy canopy. "You're going to fit right in back where I came from." Placing one hand on the soldier's arm and the other alongside his scalp, Jill let her healing abilities weave their way into the ruined flesh. The effect was immediate as the man gasped, a loud, shuddering breath. Blue light gathered all about his bandages, pouring into them and soon radiating out from between them as well. As the masked teenager moved her palm along his forearm, burnt skin fell in large flakes to the floor, revealing healthy, dark chocolate hued skin in its wake. By the time she hand reached his hand, cupping it in her own, he'd regained enough mobility to open and close the fingers there reflexively. When Jill rose to her feet again, he carefully lifted his healed arm to his face, tentatively pulling away the fabric covering it. Once the bandages were out of the way, his new eye blinked, the brow surrounding it devoid of scarring. "And that's how we do that," Jill noted with satisfaction as she moved onto the next soldier without hesitation.

Diplomacy Check. (1d20+4=14) Also an Auto 29 Bluff check for, "Pfft, what? No, I totally deal with way worse than this all the time, you've got nothing to worry about."
-
Jill took a steadying breath at the sight of the refugees, the looks on their faces chilling her as much as the state of their injuries. A moment later her eyes narrowed and she steeled herself, the skills she'd developed volunteering in hospitals and crusading as a superheroic combat medic allowing her to focus on the task at hand. Pausing just long enough to brush a quick peck on the side of Dragonfly's helmet, she advised in a whisper, "Work fast, muñequita." Then she was striding confidently into the midst of the local, catching the eye of the woman in scrubs. "Hi, I'm Jill," she announced simply, loudly enough to be overheard by the battered crowd. "Let's ignore the whole 'other dimension' and 'looks barely out of high school' thing and focus on me relieving you after one helluva long shift in the ER, huh?" The young woman offered the obviously weary older woman a wry but winning smile, flipping open her messenger bag. "Get me up to speed. Dunno how you do things here, ladies and menfolk, but where I come from nobody gets left behind, so I will personally kick the butt of anybody who tries to lie down and die before I can get them patched up! Then I'll fix that too!"

With a silent but long suffering sigh, Midnight drew forth a collapsible pistol from his belt that clearly owed its design in part to the original Night Gun. A trio of glass capsules slotted into the back of the device as strode in a circular part around the core of the melee, watching for his shot. Inky black mist trailed behind him as he went, forming and obscuring cloud that blocked both light and scent for the mass of insects, cutting the swarm off from their time machine target. Choosing his moment, the black clad vigilante snapped hit weapon up and pulled the trigger, releasing a stream of sickly green gas along with his midnight mist, the two gaseous masses twining about each other as they settled on the monster and its countless individual parts. "Pesticide," he called calmly to the other heroes. "Don't breath."

While Cobalt Templar's awing went wide, Gal Vanic took advantage of the dodge it forced Keres to make to continue her onslaught of pummeling punches. Speed increased by the electricity forming her being in the simulated world of Tronik, the young woman delivered a flurry of rabbit punches to the villain's stomach, assuming said rabbits were roughly the size of trailer trucks. "Talk to the hand, loser!" Whirling about in the air before diving downward, she planted both sets of knuckles squarely on her foe's nose, staggering Keres and giving her time to turn to her senior classmate. "It felt like something happened to Sage, and Citizen's all by himself!" she observed, concern on her lightning bolt painted face. "I've got this, go! I'll catch up!"

Her gleeful grin softening into a contented smile, Ellie placed her hands on Mara's hips and leaned down enough so that their noses brushed against each other. "Well, I just asked myself, if I literally had spare time, how would I want to spend it? Answer was pretty obvious," she told the shorter girl matter-of-factly. Any frustrations left from the day's distractions and annoyances evaporated away as she slid a little closer into her partner's embrace. "I said we were going to get a whole day just for us and it'd take a lot more than blue gorillas to stop it. Happy Birthday, Marbar."

"Shows what you know!" Gal Vanic shouted back in Keres face as Cobalt Templar recovered from the blow, her uncharacteristically solid cheeks reddening with indignation. "I already died off!" With that questionable rejoinder, the perky paragon surged forward again, smashing a fist into Keres face with a clobbering blow, then another and another. Step by step, she pushed the arrogant AI back, the force of the impacts rippling out in palpable shockwaves. The scene might not have been out of place in Freedom City, but in Tronik it was nigh unbelievable: the plucky young woman, radiant against the subdued tones of the city in her electric blues and purples, overcoming the repugnant beast seemingly through sheer determination that good would triumph over evil.

His focus remaining on his target, Midnight seemed wholly unimpressed by the enraged screams of the preserved shell that had once been a man. Through ruby red lenses, he locked eyes with the unspeakable thing inhabiting the corpse, staring into its being through the long dead orbs. For a split instant, the alien being knew that it was not the predator but they prey and further that it was truly outmatched. The second of doubt and fear was all Midnight needed to follow through with a two-part combination that caught his foe in the stomach and then under the chin, forcibly lifting the creature off of the ground then crumpling back down in a heap.

Fortitude Save vs. DC 22. (1d20+7=19) Dazzled! Luckily, he has Blind-Fight.

If anyone had been paying attention to Jack amidst the transformations both brilliant and terrible, they might have noticed the swordsman's white knuckles as his clenched fingers drove into his palms. "Hnn, cagado--" Grunting with effort, he shook off the effects of the rush of hellfire he could feel blazing below their feet in the bar's basement. Though he's long ago purged himself of the seed of the infernal flame that had at one point spread roots throughout his being, the familiar sensation affected him as much as anything other than perhaps the heat-death of Terminus radiation rolling from Harrier is nauseating waves. It was with conscious and painful effort that he ignored both, focusing his senses on the white, tasteless buzz of the electricity running through the light fixtures overhead. Keep it together, head in the game, he mentally chastised himself. The only piece of his costume he'd been able to inconspicuously bring with him was his mask, the bandana stuffed into the back pocket of his pants. Donning while still in his street clothes would be pushing it, however, even if the bar had rapidly emptied of civilians. As Harrier and Gabriel took the demon's initial attacks, the swashbuckler dropped down and rolled under the table in a single fluid motion. Mere moments later, he reappeared on the other side, bounding to his feet and rather suddenly shirtless. Above the the athletic, sienna torso marked by a variety of scars from faint lines to noticeable bullet wounds a bandana of royal blue covered both the top half of the fencers face and his otherwise undisguised hair. "Let's not get distracted from what we were talking about, guys," he called to the other heroes as a scintillating rapier of lightning crackled into being in his right hand, the bolt shooting down from the wires in the ceiling. "I didn't mean that you shouldn't prepare ahead of time, don't get me wrong!" he clarified even as he bounded forward, using a overturned stool as a stepping stone to get some height. "But you gotta be willing to do the unexpected! For instance," Jack continued, apparently ignoring the glass monster apart from a probing slash of his blade to draw its attention, "don't be afraid to get shirtless!"
-
"That's what I'm here for," the medic confirmed as she finished tying her bandana mask behind her head. She wasn't in anything resembling her actual costume and there wasn't much risk of secret identity exposure given the circumstances, but there were certain traditions to be observed. "Jill O'Cure is the name and Jill O'Curing is the game," she explained by way of introduction, addressing Power even as she curiously examined the pictures in the elevator. "Anything wacky I need to know about, like people in this reality having a third kidney or magic being highly combustible and so on?" She was being a little more jocular than normal, the tension heavy in the air already racking her nerves.

"Well, it didn't exactly stop time," Ellie clarified, her smile widening even further at Mara's flabbergasted reaction. It wasn't often she was the one who got to explain something to her genius girlfriend and not the other way around. "It's more like everything in the apartment is moving really, really fast, if I did that right!" Indeed, looking at the suspended bird long enough revealed that it was still moving, just so slowly as to be nearly imperceptible. "Dynamo basically bottled a little bit of the juice that lets him run around so fast - and no, I have no idea about the 'how' on any of that, sorry - and gave everybody on the team one for Christmas, the day after we met, actually. He figured if there aren't enough hours in the day, electrocute physics until it coughs up more hours." It was very much an Interceptors style solution but one she suspected Mara would appreciate as well. "I'd been saving it for something important, and I figured if it was electricity he generated biologically and my force fields are based on my bioelectric field... ta da!"

Ellie grinned broadly, clearly having anticipated Mara's reaction to seeing the cylinder. "I figured you'd like the physics-breakiness involved," she noted, taking a quiet breath as she raised her free hand. With a soft hum, a translucent blue force field wavered into being along the walls, floor and ceiling of the apartment, creating a sealed space around them. "Okay, this was really only supposed to be for quick jolts for one person, so fingers crossed..." Flicking off the cap with the thumb of the hand around the device, she hesitated for a split second then pressed the red button. Immediately the lightning contained in the cylinder leapt forth, rippling across the girls' linked fingers with a warm tingle and jumping off to ricochet about the room, contained by Ellie's bioelectric barrier. In the next split second, bolts continued to stream forth well outside of any probable energy storage unit's ability to supply them until the entire apartment went red-tinged white with power. Then, just as abruptly, they stopped. As the brilliant flash of light faded, it took a moment for Ellie's eyes to readjust. As they did, she saw that the cylinder had been emptied of power, leaving the mechanical components intact but no longer surrounded by arcs of electricity. The fine hairs of the back of her neck still standing on end, she set the device aside and let the force field around them drop. At first, nothing seemed to have actually changed. Looking out the window, however, revealed a bird with wings outstretched hanging motionlessly in the air as though suspended in a viscous liquid. "Haha, it worked!" she cheered in delight, bounding to her feet and clapping her hands once. "Zip actually knew what he was talking about!"

Trevor offered Eve a simple, small smile as she ushered them inside, but on the stoically impassive young man's face the expression, very nearly showing teeth, might as well have been beaming. This close, in person, the constant mental link forged between them was less of a silvery thread tying them together regardless of distance and more like a slightly overlapping Venn diagram. Between their busy schedules and the amount of time the white haired Frenchwoman had spent out of the city on school business of late, they hadn't had as much chance to simply socialize as he would have liked, and he felt vaguely as though he'd let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. "Is casual," he stated aloud for the benefit of the others, his voice a soft, perfect deadpan. "Shirt isn't even black." That said, he was still quick to remove his jacket and hang it up as they moved through the foyer, rolling the sleeves of his buttoned shirt halfway up his forearms. He was a far sight from his appearance when he'd first met the seniors and Claremont alumni present, having grown into his once lanky frame with a powerful athleticism even if he lacked the bulk of Corbin's heavy build. Turning to the only unfamiliar face as they walked, he gave Indira an inclination of his head that suggested a bow. "Miss Singh. Have heard good things." It would have been more accurate to say that he had overheard, researched and investigated good things, but his phrasing seemed both more concise and polite. He'd made a point to keep tabs on the new line-up of Young Freedom as much as he could without being needlessly invasive and was largely impressed even if there were some rough edges yet. It also seemed politer not to mention that he could tell with a glance that her body heat was far to uniform for anyone with even generally human physiology; it would have been more than a little hypocritical given that he was still covering the onyx and ruby hued eyes that provided that insight with concealing sunglasses. "Erin, Mark and I would be your... precursors, so to speak."

"Call me egocentric," Ellie offered offhand as she reslung her messenger bag over her shoulder and moved to the first aid kit mounted on the lab's wall, "but I feel like you might be glad to have the trained medic with the ability to make magic floating stretchers with her mind along." Opening the white metal box, she skimmed its contents with her eyes before upturning it and dumping the entire thing into her bag along with the supplies she already had before closing its flap. The young woman's expression was resolute but her body language was that of someone too nervous to stand easily still. "Do we need to be worried about radiation, or... hoo boy..."

"Hey, jerkface!" a voice shouted in Keres direction as the hulking abomination reared back for another walloping punch at Cobalt Templar. "You wanna fight? I'm your Gal!" In a streak of electric blue, Gal Vanic rocketed downward, fist extended, to slug to murderous artificial intelligence in his over-sized jaw, the deceptively small fist packing the force of a lightning bolt. Despite the solid hit, Keres seemed to shake it off in his more durable form but Kimber floated just in front of him undaunted, her fists raised in a boxing stance and her bright blue curls bouncing atop her head. "C'mon, you bully! Let's go!"

Right, sorry! Gal Vanic Move Action: Feint Keres. (1d20+1=12) Standard Action: Charge Keres, Power Attack 2. (1d20+7=14) That probably doesn't do it so, assuming it's needed: Charge Keres, Power Attack 2, HP reroll. (1d20+7=15) Make that 25. That's a DC 32 punch.

Smirking at Mara's inarticulate response, Ellie sat her down on the couch and followed suit, facing the blonde engineer by sitting cross-legged sideways on the long piece of furniture before twisting about the retrieve her messenger bag and rummage about inside for a moment. The transparent cylinder she pulled out was about as wide around as a can of hairspray but shorter. Within its confines, rippling bolts of electricity danced between intricate mechanisms, leaping from point to point one moment and gradually moving up and down in a high voltage traveling arc. Capped by an equally clear lid was a conspicuous red button. "Okay, so, you remember Dynamo? The electric speedster? Before he went to pursue research pretty much full-time, he gave each of us on the team one of these." Carefully removing the cap, she held the device halfway between them and reached for Mara's hand. "Here, hold on to it, too."
