  2. "Arrowhawk," Midnight acknowledged in turn, held tilting slightly to one side in the barest of gestures. It had been more than a year since the two had crossed paths during the opportunistic prison break that had sprung up in the midst of the mot recent Grue invasion and the archer could tell with a glance that the other hero had not been idle in that time. While he had been just slightly taller than the experienced vigilante even then, Midnight had broadened noticeably, packing on lean muscle as he'd grown into a frame that had seemed a touch on the lanky side at the time. Moreover, his posture spoke of new confidence. Not the confidence of rigorous training and extensive planning, which he'd already possessed during their previous meeting, but the self-assurance that only came from having faced the absolute worst case and come out the other side. It was a subtle thing, with the carefully unreadable stance and manner, but Arrowhawk knew better than most what to look for.
  3. Grinning in spite of herself, Jill hoisted herself over the outcropping with one hand in time to see a man in a rather ostentatious red and black parka stumbling backward as Dragonfly's attack shattered the ice under his feet. "What the what?!" Gross sputtered, his voice recognizable as belonging to the lackey who had been so loudly complaining a few moments earlier. His toppling trajectory sent him directly into the medic's path, allowing her to wrap a glowing hand around from behind to cover his exposed face. "Time to take your medicine, chumly." A quick application of her biology disrupting touch seeped deep into his veins, causing the disgruntled terrorist to shudder before going lax. "...typical..." he managed before crashing face first into the snow. "The hell?!" shouted a bearded man as he and two other Overthrow agents in matching outfits went for their weapons. "Light them up!"
  4. That'd be Gross, so... Gross Toughness Save vs. DC 28. (1d20+3=23) ...well. Anyway, I'm calling this a surprise round, so: Jill O'Cure Move Action: Hop over the icy outcropping! Standard Action: Autoimmunity Touch vs. Gross. (1d20+10=14) Ew. That only hit because he's flat-footed against her surprise attack. Still! Gross Fort Save vs. DC 22. (1d20+4=7) Yikes. I'm going to say that brings him down to -5, but no further; I believe that's the bottom limit, though I can't lay my hands on the rule in the book at the moment. Fort Save vs. DC 27. (1d20-5=2) He's out. Back to Dragonfly for the first regular round of combat. 26 - Dragonfly - Uninjured - 2HP 21 - Gross - Unconscious 20 - Ackerman - Uninjured 15 - Jill O'Cure - Uninjured 12 - Drescher - Uninjured 7 - Hahn - Uninjured
  5. In that case: 26 - Dragonfly - Uninjured - 3HP 21 - Gross - Uninjured 20 - Ackerman - Uninjured 15 - Jill O'Cure - Uninjured 12 - Drescher - Uninjured 7 - Hahn - Uninjured Have at it!
  6. Ellie's own expression as she caught on to who their unexpected neighbours were was considerably easier to read than Mara's, for all that it couldn't quite seem to decide between legitimate concern and impatient annoyance. Overthrow was theoretically more active in Europe, so most of her cursory knowledge of the terrorist organization came from the news, but it sounded like this group had been specifically sent to investigate what had happened in the arctic the previous Christmas Eve. She wasn't sure what her own reasoning was, but somehow that seemed to make them their responsibility. Putting a finger to her lips to call for silence, she crept toward to outcropping of ice, hoping to take advantage of the element of surprise.
  7. For when we need them shortly: Hahn Initiative. (1d20+1=7) Hard-Nosed Commander archetype Gross Initiative. (1d20+3=21) Heroic Everyman archetype Ackerman Initiative. (1d20+2=20) High-Tech Spy archetype Drescher Initiative. (1d20+5=12) Martial Arts Expert archetype Jill O'Cure - Initiative. (1d20+4=15) There is, however the possibility of a surprise round! Let me get a Stealth check from Mara if she's inclined to follow Ellie's lead by being sneaky.
  8. Giant Krampus Move Action:: Demoralize vs. Asad. (1d20+5=10) Standard Action: Initiate Grapple vs. Asad. (1d20+2=16) Opposed Grapple Check. (1d20+41=54) Let me get the opposing rolls from Asad.
  9. Kimber looked from the large rocks back to Eve then to the disassembled rock garden then to Kristin then back to the rocks, the glum expression on her face deepening as she went. "Well... jams," she concluded finally with a sigh, before cracking her translucent knuckles and narrowing her eyes in the direction of the stones. Unlike the distinctive light that wrapped about objects the other two girls were moving with their minds, the first of the rocks Kimber attempted to lift showed no sign of outside influence as is wobbled slightly, scraped along the path for an inch or so back towards to garden then stopped. Letting out a heavy breath that she strictly speaking hadn't needed to take in the first place, Kimber floated over her stubborn target and emphatically kicked it. Predictably her immaterial foot slid right through with no effect whatsoever, leaving the phantom to make a frustrated noise in the back of her throat as she flew back over to the better vantage point to try again.
  10. Midnight slid from shadow to shadow along the rooftops on Riverside, a vague shape of black on black that wouldn't have shown on most dedicated surveillance cameras let alone to the average naked eye. Red eyes that burned like sullen coals in a featureless mask, the only thing visible against the night, were also the best reason for anyone who did catch a glimpse to convince themselves as best they could that they hadn't. Redbird was parked along with the Night Cycle near enough to be there when called upon, but for actual patrolling it was hard to beat actually taking the tops of the neighbourhood's buildings on foot and grappling line. Working methodically through the area, the lack of light no impairment to his mutated eyes, the silent vigilante continued on his way.
  11. "Sheesh, what a-- yeep!" Kimber's appraisal of Rogue and her broadcast was interrupted by Sharl rocketing past her through the window. Admittedly, the electrified teenager had been waiting for an excuse to let loose since arriving in Tronik, but even then she hesitated for a moment. She wasn't used to seeing the Tronik native so worked up; usually Sharl was the one checking video cameras before charging in. When Indira followed suit, however, the balance of indecision shifted in favour of an exuberant exit. "Hey, wait up!" she cried out as her eye sparked with power and she shot out into the why after her friends, leaving a lightning blue streak in her wake. Swooping down towards the rooftops for a moment, she caught Wraith's arms, easily lifting the surprisingly weighty Kinigosi and carrying her along so as to better keep up with the determined Citizen.
  12. Erik started to remark on Chris' unusual method of examination but decided against. Odd though it may have been, he'd learned to accept the genetically altered young man's phenomenal sense of smell as a legitimate asset and supposed it retrospect that a passing grade for the training space was a plus overall. "Good to know. Now come on already." Leading the way to the back of the gym area, the dusty-brown haired fencer opened the door there and took the stairs down to a second, surprisingly durable looking metal door. Beyond that was a basement with a low ceiling that had clearly been intended as some sort of fallout shelter when it was originally constructed. Sturdy beams supported the floor above and the walls were lined with shelves which, while currently empty, could easily be imagined stocked with canned goods and other supplies. At told, it had about half the floor space of the ground level room, though it felt a touch claustrophobic due to the proportions. The most interesting feature, however, was the desk close by the entrance stacked with a mishmash of ill-matching computer equipment, obviously pieced together from whatever had been available, including some scorched pieces which looked suspiciously like they might have been salvaged from the remains of their former brownstone home. On the monitor hooked up to the mess of circuits a familiar if unusually low resolution figure in a bright green suit beamed at the small group. "Well, aren't you kids a sight for sore eyes?"
  13. If Kimber had shied away from Equinox's displays of fire magic, she had the opposite reaction to the crackling frost in the witch's palm, floating forward without warning to get a better look and demonstrating an appreciation for personal space that was loose at best. "Oh wow, you can do cold spells, too?!" she exclaimed somewhat rhetorically, sliding through the air to get a look at the upturned hand from multiple angles before finally flying back a few paces worth of space. "I totally have, like, freeze breath, which is awesome since otherwise it's pretty hard to even effect solid stuff. I think I'm getting stronger, though! Maybe. I hope so!"
  14. Jack sat through the rest of their involuntary host's long-winded instructions and explanations with the body language of a man taking the matter seriously but impatient to get moving and active. Though no stranger to leadership as of late, his strengths did not lie in long term planning, nor did he honestly see the need for it. In his experience, the one who got things done was the one who actually went out and acted rather instead of sitting about drawing up strategies and debating the finer points. Although I so love a 'fine point'. Their own Gabriel's angry interjection seemed out of character, but with Arrowhawk dealing with it and no great need for supplied himself, the swordsman simply stood nearby, fingers laced behind his head and idly counted tiny cracks in the room's ceiling.
  15. Conveniently enough, Kimber also has Flight 5 in her Gal Vanic form, and she's excitable enough right now to go right after Sharl. Hot on his heels, so to speak!
  16. Neither is eight.
  17. Snorting at the pointless posturing of the little men with guns, Wail continued his forward advance unhurriedly until he was in a good position to let loose another sonic bellow, sweeping his superhumanly powerful voice across the room in an arc to throw several of the mercenaries spinning off of their feet to crash into the walls, support beams and floor with a variety of painful crunching sounds. Towards the back of the auditory attack, Tackle pushed her way through largely unhindered and made a beeline for Ironclad, apparently less concerned with avenging her partner's premature knockout than he had been about her being attacked.
  18. Wail Move Action: Get into position. Standard Action: Sonic Scream, hitting Tackle and the three soldiers further away from Ironclad. For reference, that's Damage 13 (Extras: Area [General, Cone, 120ft], Linked [stun]) [24PP] + Stun 9 (Extras: Area [General, Cone], Linked [Damage]) [27PP] (Sonic Scream) [53PP]. That's DC28 Toughness Save and a DC19 Fortitude Save, after the Reflex Save, of course.
  19. "No no, it's fine, I didn't even feel it!" Kimber assured Koshiro quickly, wide grin unabated. "Seriously, I feel like I could walk right through a mountain if I wanted to right now! Just kroosh, right through it! Everything's all 'bzzzt'!" The emphatic sound effect was accompanied by a spark of electricity from each of the excitable girl's neon blue eyes and she moved to reach for the origami artist's shoulders to better convey the magnitude of what she was describing. Instead, she caught herself midway there and drew back, very deliberately taking a small step away from both Koshiro and the wall. "Ha, see? Personal space! I do play attention!"
  20. Kimber looked from Kristin to Eve interestedly as the Australian alluded to an athletic history the deceased young woman had really heard about before then. Obviously Eve was an amazing talented acrobat, she'd seen as much for herself in real combat situations, but she hadn't realized it was something the white-haired telepath had once pursued competitively. The ghost felt a surge of guilt for not having found out about such a major part of Eve's life sooner. She supposed that she'd taken for granted that the older girl had always been the self-assured force of nature she seemed to be now, which felt awfully foolish to her in retrospect. Resolving to spend more time getting to know Eve as a person instead of just the team's semi-formal student teacher, she answered the question posed. "Well, I'm technically a poltergeist, um, specifically, I mean. I can knock stuff over and smash plates and cups and stuff and generally be a nuisance!" Laughing, her beryl speckled cheeks darkened a shade. "Which is what I did for a while, when I was haunting my cabin in the woods. My control's pretty good, I guess! It mostly seems like I'm actually holding whatever it is with invisible hands or something! I can't lift much at all, though, just small stuff."
  21. Midnight didn't comment on the situation with the Centurion and Lucas; with any luck his studious avoidance of looking in their direction would be taken as a sign of focus on the task at hand and nothing more. "No 'defense network' earlier?" he asked Clockwatcher for clarification's sake, the implied question of 'why not' accompanying it. If their opponent was able to effectively lock any would-be meddlers out of entire eras of time travel, leaving them the opportunity to travel further back and head them off at the metaphorical pass seemed poorly planned. The black clad hero suspected it was simply a limit of the technology involved or the resources required, but they were working with precious little information as it was.
  22. Floating the rest of the way out of the box, Ghost Girl's mind veritably glowed with a warn suffusion of pride in Sage's direction, taking the telepath's acknowledgement to heart and feeling refresh despite her exertion. Making a beeline for the least damaged on the hulking monstrosities, she swiped a hand through its form, using the same chilling effect that had reduced the thing's mistress to a puddle. It wasn't quite so effective on the more solid creature, but it did slow down a bit as it plodded right through the apparition in its way toward Wraith, Citizen and Summers. "H-hey! Get back here!" she demanded, following closely and doing her best to wear it out before it could pose a threat to her friends.
  23. Giant Krampus Reflex Save vs. DC 15. (1d20-2=12) Toughness Save vs. DC 20. (1d20+21=36) I will say that caps off the stream of Svartálfar for now, though, so go ahead and post IC. 19 - Asad - Staggered, 2HP, Extra Effort 16 - Pyre - Bruised x1, 1HP, Extra Effort 9 - Giant Krampus - Bruised x2, Staggered, Demoralized 4 - Wail - Uninjured, 3HP 3 - Svartálfar (x10) - Panicked 3 - Svartálfar (x30) - Uninjured
  24. Ghost Girl Move Action: Float over to Dark Young 2 Standard Action: Chill of the Grave. (1d20+11=12) ...sad. Hero Point: Chill of the Grave, HP reroll. (1d20+11=14) So 24. Yeesh. Anyway, that's a DC 21 Fort Save against Drain Strength, to be clear.
  25. That's cool. Can Wail catch Tackle and three of the soldiers in a cone shape?
