"I... I dunno," Kimber spoke up at Papercut's skepticism. Even feeling a little better about her earlier panic attack, she was reluctant to disagree directly with the already stand-offish young man, but he natural tendency toward chattering vocalization won out. "If it was just a cover, why would it be on their computer with all the, y'know, science experiment data and stuff? I don't think they expected us to be looking at it." The poltergeist floated slowly about the room, glancing back up the way they came. "Ghost-proof doors... I didn't even know that was a thing. I dunno if it's magic or... whatever this cult is supposed to be up to, but it's pretty darn weird, at least!"

Kimber looked up, blinking interestedly at the sound of the howl, any inherent intimidation in the cry largely lost on her as she tried to make out the pair of figures on the hill. Her squinting inspection was cut off abruptly by the massive mastiff barreling down on her and then slamming quite unexpectedly into her torso. "Oh my jaaahaha!" she cried in surprise, arms pinwheeling animatedly as she was knocked from her floating position to the cemetery ground, the high-pitched shriek dissolving into laughter as a rough, canine tongue set out her face. "Ahaha - pbbth - haha, hello puppy, haha!" Reflexively throwing her arms around he dog's thick neck, she found it effectively solid to her touch, scratching the beast happily about the scruff of his neck.

Laughing brashly as he rolled with the tumble of limbs with the graceful ease of his profession, Erik supported his weight on his hands and grinned broadly down at the the copper-toned woman. "Hah, I knew practicing those hand-to-hand skills was a good idea," he quipped in an appreciative growl before lowering himself down just enough to kiss her collarbone, drinking in the dryad's winey taste before abruptly stopping his trailing exploration to push off of the hillside and give Willow a frank look. "Look, I've got to ask: you can't get any more pregnant, right? That's not a thing for you? Double-pregnant?"

A short, derisive laugh sounded from slightly behind Mara, when Ellie stood with one arm folded across the front of her fitted vest, the elbow of is twin resting upon it so that her hand could rest thoughtfully across the side of her face. "Are you new or something?" she asked the last reporter to speak with a sardonic drawl, stepping forward to stand closer to the CEO being interviewed. "I ask because it seems like your bosses would want to send one of their clever reporters to cover the science and technology stories." She lifted the fingers from her face in a gesture of mild forbearance to silence any rebuttal, the move suffused with a lazy disdain. "But since you ask, yes, you've sussed it out. Mara Hallowmen is in fact Daedalus of the Freedom League. Good show, your Pulitzer's in mail." The sarcasm that dripped from the young woman's tone was so venomous more than one of the journalists closest to her in the crowd took an involuntary half-pace backward.

I'm poking fun less at your lack of interest in the show, which if fair enough, and more at your need to make that disinterest explicitly known. The proverbial call of 'no pony', as it were. And I wanted to link to John de Lancie!Pony dancing the dinosaur. Lighten up.

Kimber giggled brightly as the raccoon's paw passed right through her crinkled nose none the worse for wear. "It's okay, it probably does seem pretty weird!" she admitted, telekinetically scratching the confused familiar behind the ears without moving either hand. "I'm not much good for climbing on," the phantom addressed the diminutive creature, "but you go through me if you like. Her fur pattern is so rad, what's her name?" She straightened to turn fully to Equinox, remembering that she'd been asked a question herself and answering before the levitating woman could respond. "Oh, yes! I'm originally from Thunder Bay! That's in Canada?" she supplied helpfully. "And, I mean, 'originally' in the sense that I definitely froze to death there, but I'm pretty sure I lived there, too? I'm here now, anyway!"

Kimber let out a surprised sound at Corbin's bear hug, about as disconcerted by so many things being solid in relation to her that day as a living person would have been by repeated bouts of insubstantiality. The intent behind the gesture drowned out any unease quickly enough, however, and by the time the broad-shouldered teen took a step back, the poltergeist was able to muster up a small smile and nod for him in return. "Thanks," she replied in a soft voice before making a small show of tugging her costume straight and composing herself. The tear stains on her face fade as if of their own accord and the shadows cast by her cloak's hood over her face deepened with little regard for the actual lighting in the hallway. Setting her slender, translucent jaw, she resolved to make up for her panic attack. With that firmly in mind, she followed quickly after Koshiro and his paper solider, floating high enough in the air to put her eye-level a few heads over even Corbin, the tattered edges of her reaper's garb fluttering about her feet. She was a little more wary of the symbols carved all about them given the way the door had managed to affect her combined with Indira's earlier warnings. Something very odd was obviously going on and judging by the attempts to conceal it, it wasn't a good sort of odd at all. Even so, most of her attention was on the plexiglass cell, as she glided silently forward to get a better look inside.

ic Can I Borrow A Cup of Adventure? (IC)
Gizmo replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in The North End
Biting back of a reflexively petty comment about New York City, Trevor instead made a soft murmur of muted agreement as he took another sip of coffee. "Have managed to visit numerous locales," he confirmed, letting the implication that their youth divested them of responsibility. Such were the burdens of a secret identity. "France, recently. Dakana, as part of a study-abroad trip. Excellent coffee." He noted with some relief that there hadn't been any sounds of explosions, spontaneously occurring horses or alien incursions from upstairs, which suggested Mark was exercising restraint but that reassurance quickly turned to worry as he considered what might be keeping the reality warper's attention otherwise occupied. "Ah, washroom?" he asked their hosts.- 118 replies

"Get ahold of yourself, man," LaMarr demanded with a voice steeped with authority. "Turkeys don't kidnap one of my students without bringing a world of hurt down on their heads." He punctuated the statement by pounding one fist into a meaty palm, the size of the hands involved making it a powerful gesture. The absconding vehicle was already long gone but fortunately Wail was no stranger to investigation. Granted, back in the old days Javed and Yelena had been more inclined toward gathering clues while Keith focused on interrogation, but he'd done his fair share of mystery solving on his own as well. Unceremoniously stepping out of the hole in the wall, he landed next to the unconscious intruders with a thundering impact, leaving two boot-shaped impressions in the pavement. Rummaging through their uniforms turned up their advanced energy weapons, which LaMarr disposed of with a snap, self-destructing ear pieces and a distinctive badge with fine black lines dividing a round shield into individual hexagons. The aging hero had to rack his mind for a few moments, stroking his grey-streaked beard thoughtfully, before he could place it as the logo of a private security company with a reputation for high tech equipment and shady dealings. Which might explain what they want with an inventor like Lamont, he reasoned with a frown.

The corporeal teenagers heard a faint sniffling before they saw their spectral teammate fade slowly into view, hugging her knees with one arm and wiping her eyes with the back of the reaper's cloak sleeve covering the other. "H-hey guys. Sorry," she managed quietly, still visibly trembling but seeming more ashamed now than terrified. "There... there was a fire, and... I'm okay now." Her assurances weren't very convincing as she carefully straightened and rose to float just slightly off of the floor, lifting her head just enough to reveal tracks of slightly darker blue left by ghostly tears running over beryl freckles over her domino mask and beneath her hood. "Sorry, sorry," she mumbled again, not meeting anyone's eyes as she gestured to the door behind her. "Then I ran into this, and... I guess it's ghost-proof." Making a fist, she thumped it against the barrier, her translucent flesh refusing to pass through.

Several steps behind Mara, Ellie managed to turn a reflexive fist pump at her girlfriend's deft handling of the first question into a reasonably inconspicuous straightening of her vest as she did her best to avoid drawing attention to herself and look like she was supposed to be there. The young medic briefly regretted not staying amongst the crowd at large until the question period had been dealt with but fortunately she'd had a lot of experience evading questions through calculated application of a coolly confident demeanor, having snuck into a number of patients' rooms shortly before they experienced unexpectedly speedy recoveries. Of course, that worked on tired, overworked hospital staff, not people who make their living by being observant and asking questions.

ic Can I Borrow A Cup of Adventure? (IC)
Gizmo replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in The North End
"There are... checks and balances in place," Trevor elaborated, absently touching a pair of fingers from one hand lightly to the side of his sunglasses to ensure that they were properly in place as he felt the need to shield his expression despite the carefully controlled arrangement of his features. It was less the eerie effect of seeing a man sitting across from him whom his nagging instincts insisted was dead than it was the brief insight into what Erin's day to day life was like simply seeing a living world around her. Returning to this facsimile of her home must have been soul rending for all the pain had been numbed by exposure. "Freedomites learn to protect the things that are important to them," he continued, low voice tightening slightly. "Fiercely, when necessary."- 118 replies

ic Can I Borrow A Cup of Adventure? (IC)
Gizmo replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in The North End
Giving his Erin a faint, sympathetic look as she chewed her unintentionally syrupy eggs, Trevor turned to cast another look toward the stairs, wondering why sitting calmly in the kitchen was bothering him quite so much. It certainly wasn't just concerns over what Mark might be getting up to; though potentially embarrassing, he knew the probability controller would never stoop to anything truly untoward. The corners of his mouth tilted ever so slightly down as his onyx and ruby eyes narrowed, still hidden behind his sunglasses. His restrained body language became absolutely still as he realized he was staring absently at the came cupboard from under which he'd fished a handgun with one bullet missing on Earth-EZO1. The young man found he could not look away for a long moment, long enough that he realized he'd missed the White's latest inquiry. "Ah, sorry...?" he apologized, pulling his attention back to the present while remaining noticeably stiff.- 118 replies

"Not just a ghost!" Kimber chirped cheerfully as she faded into sight while floating around to that she wasn't directly behind Equinox any longer. Pulling her hood back up with both hands she affected a comically dramatic tone. "Ghost Girl! Dun-dun-dah!" Letting the hood drop back down to her back she tugged at the front of her top to better display the letter upon it. "See? I've got a 'G' and everything! Isn't it rad?!" Grinning from translucent ear to ear, she clasped her hands in front of her for a moment before almost immediately being distracted by the furry creature perched on Nick's belt. "Oh my goodness, what a cutie!" the phantom teen gushed, crouching slightly even as she tipped forward in the air to get a better look at the raccoon, floating almost horizontally above the graveyard's dirt.

While the mystic practitioners conversed, a spectral, pale blue form rose slowly from the ground over which Equinox had been floating moments before. It's humanoid form was obscured by a tattered reaper's cloak that flapped eerily in a wind which was not truly present as it freed itself from the soil of the graveyard. It's hood concealed the phantom's features except for two faint points of icy light where eye might have been, reflecting a deathly chill while the figured slowly coasted toward the warm, living bodies. Once she'd gotten a little closer, Kimber pushed back her hood to free her long, wild hair and waved excitedly to Nick over the shoulder of the dark-haired woman's coat. A domino mask made a token effort to disguise the poltergeist's features, but combined with the bold 'G' emblazoned on her chest under the cloak it effectively robbed her of any lingering terror, particularly given the broad grin wrinkling a nose dotted with beryl freckles. Despite still being undetectable to ordinary senses, she still used a loud, stage whisper when she cupped her hands around her mouth to ask, "Am I interrupting anything?"

The laser bolts stung, but they didn't slow Wail down for a moment any more than a handful of pebbles would have effected an ordinary man. "You jokers are making me laugh," he remarked in a casual boom, nonchalantly brushing dust off of his crossed arms with the back of one hand before taking a quick breath and exhaling with a single, harsh syllable. "HA!" The concussive force of the shout knocked the entire octet off of their feet and through the hole they themselves had blown in the wall to land in a groaning, stunned heap on the sidewalk below. Making a low sound of annoyed derision, LaMarr, turned to look about the chaotic apartment, looking for his student's parents. "Cathy? Jacob?"

Alright! Then, for his move action, he'll move to the wall and make a try at leaping to grab the saucer. EDIT: Ah, it's already gone. Never mind.

Word. Okay: Standard Action: Sonic Scream Damage 13 (Extras: Area [General, Cone, 120ft], Linked [stun]) [24PP] + Stun 9 (Extras: Area [General, Cone], Linked [Damage]) [27PP] (Sonic Scream) [53PP] He can probably catch all of them in that by aiming toward the hole in the wall. That'd be a DC 28 Toughness Save and a DC 19 Fortitude Save.

Jack of all Blades (9) Expectations (9) Midnight II (31) The Iron Tongue of Midnight (8) Hotsy Totsy Nazi (7) Can I Borrow A Cup of Adventure? (16) Wail (2) Science Shenanigans (2) Ghost Girl (22) Change is Necessary for Growth (7) Fine Spirits (15) NPC/GM Jill O'Cure (17/2 = 8) A Room With A View (15/2) HAX (2/2) Contributions Ongoing additions and maintenance of the Visual Guide. So, I'd like to add Jill's posts to Jack's so that he gets 2PP toward veteran reward, then pass them down the line to bump Wail to 15 and Ghost Girl to 25. I'll do basically the same thing with any ref/contribution PP; up to Jack then back down to Ghost Girl.

Couple of immediate things just looking at the crunch. Perception-range effects can't be affected by trade-offs, so that Perception-range, Damaging Telekinesis can be Rank 10, tops. Your Disintegration is also priced incorrectly; that Range Extra would have to be purchased on both the Drain and Damage effects that make up the power (at Perception-range it also couldn't go over Rank 10). To whit: Drain Toughness 10 (Extras: Affects Objects (+1), Linked, Range [Perception] (+2)) (40PP) + Damage 10 (Extras: Ranged [Perception] (+2)) (30PP) On a related note, he currently has +0 attack for both melee and ranged attacks. While you don't strictly speaking need to hit caps, superheroes are expected to have a certain level of basic competency. Especially if he's going to be Damage-shifted, he should at least have +5 for his ranged attacks, and a little melee bonus to his name. Basically, he could be out-grappled by a raccoon or other small, woodland creature right now. If he only has +5 Base Defense, then his flat-footed Defense is +2; you round down, which is why Base Defense is typically bought in even values by the points-conscious. I've got some concerns about his entire Toughness bonus being contained in an easy-to-lose Device, while we're talking about survivability. Remember how easy he is to grapple? That means it's really easy to take away that brooch. Moving on to little things: I'm willing to make the genre-nod to Latin as a default mystic language, but... Arabic? It's fine that he speaks it, but denoting it a 'mystic language' raises a cautious eyebrow since, obviously, not a dead language. It's worth noting that one of the site's most prominent practitioners share's the surname 'Drake' with your evil sorcerer; that's not actually a problem, but you may want to take it into consideration one way or another. That Recurring Nightmares Drawback is really not worth it. You're looking at being fatigued more often than not before your character has even done anything. That sort of thing is much better as a Complication; the HP will be more useful than the extra PP anyway. Once again, there's nothing wrong with having +10 in all of his 'exotic' saves, but it is kinda boring. For example, a lower Fort save and a higher Will save would make a lot of sense for someone who relies on artifacts for protection but faces a daily battle for what's left of his soul. Be aware that, as per our House Rules regarding Subtle 2, anyone with Magical Awareness would still be able to see his astral form with no problem.
