The brow that arched over Trevor's nearly opaque sunglasses suggested that he was more surprised than angry at what couldn't possibly have been what he wanted to hear. The black clad visitor was silent for several long moments as he considered Etain's unexpected but brutally honest statement from multiple angles. It was that honesty that prevented an immediate and potentially regrettable response; it wasn't phrased as an excuse but at the same time he found the matter-of-fact tone irksome given the subject. Finally, leaving the delivered coffee untouched in front of him, he simply demanded in a soft, even baritone, "Explain."

Kimber placed the fingers of one hand on the front of her pajama top in an exaggerated manner. "That's incorporeal, thank you very much!" she corrected haughtily before breaking into a fit of giggles alongside her roommate. "I'm not sure how I feel about 'undead'. I guess it's more or less accurate, at least, but I feel like people use it like, 'oh no, she doesn't have a pulse, run away!'" She pursed her lips before admitting, "...actually, that's still better than the kids here who think I'm just being dramatic when I say I died. Maybe. It's annoying, anyway." Sighing, she shook her head as though physically dismissing the feeling. "Do Kinigosi have high schools?"

It's really that simple. Is he Doctor Strange or the Silver Surfer? Choose.

"Really making an effort," Trevor assured Erin, still sounding a bit surprised himself. "Addressed you directly, made some small talk." If the young man was conscious of just how much of a strain it would be to classify what had just transpired as 'small talk' he certainly didn't show it. "Family doesn't really do dinner," he noted as the elevator opened on the ground floor. "Rarely sit down for meals, let alone share them." Glancing sidelong at his girlfriend, he allowed himself the faintest hint of a smile and offered her his arm as they exited the building. "Have been known to make exceptions."

"Ah, another hero... I suppose so, in a sense," LaMarr allowed somewhat thoughtfully, before clarifying in his deep, rumbling bass voice that somehow managed to remain a compassionate warmth, "Though I'm afraid you may be missing my meaning." Folding his hands behind his back he gently thanked Mrs. Desmaris for her offer but his expression made it clear that it was important they not be distracted from the subject he was so carefully broaching. "Thing is, your son had a hand in saving himself. Forgive me, I'm attempting to be delicate, something that's never been my strong suit. How much do you know about his... tinkering? Inventing and building."

"Oh, well, that's just 'cause bones remind people of death! Oo~eee~ooh!" Kimber rose higher into the air and wiggled her fingers dramatically, her hair blowing into a wilder mane that framed a face suddenly heavy with shadows before she devoled into peals of laughter, doubling over as she floated horizontally for a moment then completing the loop back down to Indira's eye-level. "Hee. Well, it wouldn't bother me any, but you're right, we should probably ask a teacher if it's okay." Pondering for a moment, she frowned a little. "We should probably try not to get, y'know, a reputation with the other students... More than a floating dead girl and an alien death machine already have, I mean."

Trevor didn't comment on observation about family, though he did make a silent note that the curly haired young woman across from him was evidently capable of astute observation. "Read your school records," he responded to her direct request simply. If she didn't already know what was in those files, he wasn't going to tell her, nor did she need to know just how he'd gained access. Unlike some accomplished investigators and detectives, he rarely bothered to explain his methods. "Asked around." Etain's particular fashion sense had made it relatively simple to narrow down the places she frequented. At that point, he'd subtly inquired amongst the locals to learn of any odd going-ons or residents. He's collected quite a list, some of which he would actually have to look into more thoroughly later, but there had been one address absolutely no one had had anything to say about whatsoever. Granted, he could have much more easily arrived at her dormitory at the Academy itself, but that had seemed somehow inappropriate. All told, this way had given him considerably greater insight into his hostess than he would have had otherwise. He'd also thought to catch her a little more by surprise, but he supposed that he calm demeanor in the face of an unexpected visitor was a point in her favour. For now, he was silent while he gave her the chance to react to his terse reply.

Trevor wasn't surprised to find the inside of the hotel in much better repair than its exterior appearance might have led him to believe. Etain's school documents had suggested a talent for illusory magics. That didn't make the jarring mental acrobatics of resolving the enforced discrepancy any less unpleasant, however, and the implications of such abilities naturally made him more wary of his surroundings and his hostess. He grunted a flat affirmation as he followed the petite girl into the building, taking a seat on the edge of a high backed chair when she indicated that he should do so. Trevor's posture remained perfectly upright but with the fluidity of a trained athlete, while his oval sunglasses did little to dull the intensity of his gaze. "Coffee is you have it. Otherwise fine. Thank you, ma'am," he addressed the phantasm with considerably more cordiality than he'd displayed so far. Whatever else might be said about him, the stoic young man was evidently not inconsiderate of the help. Turning his attention back to Etain, he leaned forward slightly, steepling his fingers before him. "So."

Trevor's didn't even blink at the sudden and startling opening of the door, despite the wait between his knocking and Etain's arrival. He was well aware how long it could take to reach a given entrance on a large home. "Etain Maher," he intoned with a subtle inclination on his head, his gravely baritone making it difficult to tell whether that was an observation or a greeting. Between Eve's account and the Claremont Academy records he'd borrowed, the dark haired engineer had had a fairly good idea of what to expect of the young woman, and even if magic always unsettled his analytical nature he certainly didn't show any overt reaction to her or the hotel outwardly. Taking a few beats longer than was likely strictly polite to fix her with an appraising look before he spoke again, Trevor finally continued, "Have a mutual acquaintance to discuss." A small gesture of his hand from the wrist asked permission to enter Parkhurst.

"Well sure, poison tiger-bugs sound like they'd be pretty much the worst," Kimber agreed amiably, despite only barely following Indira's statements. She tried for a moment to imagine a creature that fit that fanciful name but found herself picturing a regular bear instead. "Well, I'm glad it hasn't been all bad, at least. Hey, we should try to make the room feel a little more like home!" The ghost floated closer the ceiling to take a look at the spartan dwelling from above. "We haven't really done much to move in yet. Hm. Usually a potted plant or something would be traditional, but that might actually make things worse, eh?"

As the young man in the long black coat, beaten fedora and concealing sunglasses strode purposefully through Lantern Hill, it looked at first as though he would walk right by the Parkhurst Hotel, ignoring just as everyone else did. Instead, however, it seemed he was only traveling further up the street to get a better lay of the land around the apparently decrepit building before returning to its entrance. Trevor Hunter was quite so susceptible to the subtle suggestion of apathy rolling off of the building as the average person and he had taken pains to make sure he was in the right place. Without further pause, he knocked three times on the door, solid and sure.

Kimber regarded the metallic finger sliding into her stomach with curiosity more than anything else. It didn't really feel like anything at all and she found she didn't have any reflexive need to pull herself out of the way, either. A human trying the same thing probably would have found their probing digit uncomfortably cold, but it was no bother to a Kinigosi. "Hee, yeah, I could probably make a 'lost weight' joke, but..." Considering Indira's appraisal of her character, the ghost's cheeks darkened to a deeper blue momentarily. "I don't think I'm anything so special, really. Not being able to touch anything is kinda terrible, but it beats being all-the-way-dead, and I get hang out with superheroes! It'd probably be worse if I could remember stuff!" she decided with a small shrug, running one fingertip self-consciously up and down the bridge of her nose. "I mean, I don't really remember any of what I left behind, so no point in getting sad about it. You must get homesick for Kinigos. I think you're probably a lot stronger than me that way."

While Wraith went high, Ghost Girl floated downward to attack Bastion's new monstrous form from below. "I know you're probably scared and just want to break stuff and make people leave you alone, but you're too gosh darn big for a temper tantrum!" the phantom called to the transformed hero sympathetically as she neared his misshapen ankles. Taking a moment to steady herself in the air, she opened her mouth wide, then wider still, well past what would have been possible for a corporeal human until her gaping maw was truly unsettling before a blast of frigid wind poured forth and across the creature's legs. It was as though a door had been opened to a raging blizzard as ice began to form on Bastion's stretched skin.

Kimber's smile widened even further, reflected in Indira's makeshift mirror. "Yay! I'm glad you like it!" she enthused, bobbing up and down a bit as she floated back around to the Kinigosi girl's front. "I wonder if I practiced a lot. When I was alive, I mean. It's sorta wiggy not knowing what I'm actually good at or if I've done stuff before or not, but sometimes it's kinda like finding five bucks in the pocket of a winter coat you forgot about!" Tapping a finger to her chin, the phantom considered. "Hm. Traditionally, you're supposed to try to do my hair now, but that's... probably going to be tough." She shrugged broadly, sending a ripple through her silently buoyant hair.

Eventually aware and subsequently embarrassed by his relative outburst, Trevor cleared his throat and walked back over to the rest of the conversation. "...sorry," he apologized shortly, practically muttering. Directed more toward Eve specifically, he elaborated, "Not a... question of 'normal', is all." Having taken a moment to cool down, it wasn't hard for him to see exactly how the telepath's comments had squarely pushed one of his few buttons, and he regretted the lack of self-control even as he maintained his simmering, understated outrage at his friend's mistreatment. "Claremont student named Etain," he answered Erin.

"Aw, thanks, Indira!" Kimber beamed brightly enough that the young alien could practically feel her roommate's sunny smile on the back of her neck. "Apparently not everybody likes having a dead girl around, the snobs." Finishing with one side of Kinigosi's hair, the ghost began telekinetically working with the other half. "Being crazy is really not as much fun as you might think," she continued, "I really wouldn't recommend it. Spent an awful lot of time curled up in the corner, sobbing and flickering in and out of sight, making horrible faces in broken windows, semi-existing as a general malignant presence, that sort of thing." After a little more work, she had successfully braided Indira's hair into a pair intricately crisscrossing pigtails. "There!"

Trevor Hunter was by no means pleased with the team's current mission, though characteristically he kept it from his outward demeanor. While the others had ultimately decided that it was their responsibility to protect even those with distasteful politics and musical preferences until they actually did something wrong, the dark haired young man had argued that their time would be better spent elsewhere. It wasn't as if there was a shortage of potential threats vying for their attention, after all. Ultimately, however, it seemed that Cannonade had something to prove in this case, and the current Midnight could at least relate to that. Edge would never see a friend walk into an dangerous situation alone, of course, and he and Wander could hardly leave their probability manipulating teammate on his own. As such, he found himself milling about the crowd, leveraging his talent for passing by completely unnoticed, though Ratner's fans found themselves stepping out of his way without really knowing quite why.

In case you're having difficulty understanding the reason behind this objection, remember that we're working in a shared universe here. If you establish that there's an organ that makes you all magic, then any existing or future magic users have to somehow either work with that or work around it. There's room for flexibility, of course; one hero receiving mystic powers from a mysterious old man doesn't prevent another hero from studying for decades to get their own and so on, but what you're suggesting would be problematic. It's been suggested that perhaps you might go with a 'chakra point' being his weak spot; somewhere that, if disrupted, would prevent the flow of magic through his body. That gives you the same effect without the 'You got biology in my mysticism! You got mysticism in my biology!' problem.

Trevor's face clouded over the moment his suspicions as to Eve's specific meaning were confirmed, the corners of his mouth twisting downward in what might as well have been a broad scowl on his reserved features. "That is--" he began before reflexively cutting off as Erin entered nonchalantly. The dark haired engineer found himself abruptly stymied, unsure if it would be worse to continue the sensitive discussion now that they weren't alone or to leave the topic unaddressed and seem as though he were hiding something. "There is nothing--" he started again before turning to his girlfriend and demanding, "Would you tell her--" The sentence didn't have time to end before he had turned again to point a lean finger in the French girl's direction. This time he simply opened his mouth, clicked it shut again and made a low, frustrated sound in the back of his throat before clasping his hands behind his back, squaring his shoulders and pacing toward the far end of the kitchenette. Both young women recognized the body language he adopted when out on patrol: looking for someone convenient and deserving to pummel.

With the grounds placed in the large, stainless steel brewer, Trevor turned back to Eve with a vaguely apologetic shrug. "Wasn't really recommending it, no." Seeing his petite friend growing more obviously agitated, he resolved to have a talk with this 'Etain' at the earliest convenience. Eve wasn't always one for opening herself up and he knew from experience just how shattering a betrayal could be for someone so careful about who they chose to trust. "Led to believe it's difficult for everyone," he began before frowning and furrowing his brow slightly. "...'normal' how?"

If Ted picked up on Erin's barely contained ire, it didn't seem to ruffle his feathers. He gave the impression that an incendiary device going off in his hand wouldn't ruffle his feathers, granted. "You'll receive periodic updates, of course," he informed Erin before retaking his seat behind his desk and preparing to get back to work. "Mmn. New cafe block and a half southwest," he informed his son absently without looking back up. "In proximity to small metalwork art exhibit. Seemed to your tastes." "Have to take a look," Trevor agreed with a curt nod before turning and leading the way back out into the hallway without further comment or farewells. Once he and Erin were out of earshot, he let out a quiet breath. "Well. Went much better than I was expecting," he told the auburn haired young woman. "Must have liked what he learned about you."

"Aw, it's okay," Kimber assured her, still keeping her attention on the increasingly complex braid she was working into Indira's hair. "I used to be a pretty physical person, too, I think! I don't really remember, but it feels that way. Now I'm not physical or a person, so what're you gonna do, eh?" Her voice remained chipper enough, but there a bit of wistful sigh behind it. "Back before Dan found me, I mostly used this to smash dishware and toss things all over the cabin while shrieking at campers to get out, but this is way more fun!"

Super Movement 1 (Swinging) costs 2PP (or 2EP in the case of his grappling gun), so he either needs to drop something or but another rank of Equipment. I'm also concerned that complete Immunity 5 (Fire Damage) is probably beyond the scope of Equipment; perhaps half immunity to all fire effects for the same price?
