  1. "Oh, but we could open the window, then!" Kimber suggested, clapping her hands together as she warmed to the idle thought with her usual enthusiasm. "It's not like a cool breeze would be much of a problem, and we could get a nice sunny yellow or maybe a pale green!" She sped up her floating loop about the ceiling for a moment before giving her roommate a more frank look. "Besides, it would give us something to do. I am so bored, Indira. So. Bored." She punctuated the words by dragging he hands across her face in a pained expression, stretching a little more than real flesh and blood would have been able to.
  2. With such a diverse student body, the Claremont Academy dormitories featured a number of unique rooms. Some of the teenagers living there required specific conditions to better replicate their native environments or furniture constructed of materials that would be proof against their own abilities. Others had cultural concerns or entirely personal preferences. The school went to considerable lengths to ensure that all such considerations were accounted for, but for two of the newer enrollees, even the basic room design was superfluous. Kimber floated idly in lazy circles just below the ceiling of the room she shared with Indira, making a close study every nook and cranny as she attempted to while away the hours in the middle of the night. The space below was spartan indeed, with neither girl having much to contribute beyond the standard beds and desks that had already been there when they arrive. Of the former, neither had much use as for their own reasons they had no need to sleep; in fact, they might have been cut off from electricity and heat without noticing, the necessities of living humans meaningless to them. Unfortunately, with the vast majority of the city needing to rest for the night, it was very easy to become bored. Having completed her thorough examination of the long crack in the ceiling for the umpteenth time, the translucent blue phantom heaved a sigh before turning downward to address her Kinigosi friend. For whatever reason, she'd taken to shifting the appearance of her clothes to flannel pajammas at night, purely as an affectation. "D'you think they'd let us paint the room a more interesting colour?" she inquired without warning or preamble.
  3. LaMarr accepted Jacob's hand with a firm grip, noting that for once he didn't have to worry about enveloping the other man's hand entirely. "That's right. I happened to be nearby," he confirmed with a nod, releasing the handshake to stroke his beard thoughtfully as he chose his words carefully. There had been a time, some decades ago, when the metahuman known as Wail had been equally known for a quick mouth, but that was something the big man had long since outgrown. "As for stopping those punks... Can't rightly take all the credit there. Which is part of why I came by."
  4. "I wonder if these guys are robots again," a disembodied voice asked thoughtfully just before Ghost Girl wavered into sight amidst a suitable startled crowd. Before they had much time to flee in abject terror, the ethereal teenager was floating through the air toward the villains, reaper's cloak flapping soundlessly behind her. "Columbus Day is sort of an American thing, so I'm not really sure why we're fighting over it," she admitted as she dove abruptly downward, passing right through Medea and out the back of the tree the sorceress was back up against, leaving behind a preternatural chill that sapped the ancient woman's strength, leaving her shivering uncontrollably. "I'm betting you really just want to ruin the parade 'cause you're big jerks, though!"

  6. Ghost Girl Move Action: Fly to Medea. Standard Action: Drain Strength. (1d20+10=25) That's a DC 20 Fort Save.

Ted's attention turned back to the folder in his hands, leaving Trevor to stew in annoyance until he forcibly calmed himself down with a long, quiet exhalation. He knew exactly why his father had gone out of his way to research Erin's history; even the admittedly thorough background checks the elder Hunter insisted upon for any potential clients wouldn't have turned up enough to notice the tangled mess of contradictory records. Clearly he had gone out of his way in this case because of their relationship, an act that underscored his complete lack of interest or involvement up to that point. "Hnn. AEON. Considerable value," Ted observed, either oblivious to or not bothered by his son's train of thought. "Would want to diversify, obviously."
  8. "Feel like I should be surprised he's trying to save the day by making out," Jill remarked as she staggered over to Geckoman's side, closing ranks and gathering mystically amplified bioelectricity about her in readiness to hold the line, "but it's kinda been that kind of couple of months, huh?" With the Gorgon's hold on Willow splintering away, the plant matter constructs withered where they stood and floated, falling apart into shriveled leaves and broken twigs before they could hit the ground. Similarly, the massive outcroppings of vine and trunk curled in upon themselves, settling among the ruined buildings.
  9. Alright, I'd say we're out of rounds now. The Gorgon herself being PLX, the rest of this will be a little more freeform.
  10. Jack's weight pulled down upon Willow's arm and shoulder as he went largely slack, a reminder that he was in no way airborne himself underscored by the faint charred smell the lifted from his cosmically singed coat. "Jus' let 'er try..." he managed to croak with a shaky smile even as his vision swam in and out of focus. He attempted a chuckle that came out as more of a hacking cough before continuing, "Musta take more outta me than I thought... Sounded like y'said..." Trailing off into silence, the fencer craned his neck to look toward the white haired head pressed against him.

"You're not," Ted responded bluntly as he accepted the folder from Erin and began leafing through it, making nearly inaudible sounds of approval as he reviewed the contents. His dissenting statement didn't seem to be an accusation so much as a largely disinterested observation. "Assume passing resemblance to Seattle native isn't coincidental." If anything, the elder Hunter's tone suggested he was simply clarifying with regards to which name the stocks would be registered under. Trevor's eyes narrowed very subtly, an easily missed expression of annoyance. "Did a background check." Like his father, the young man was not asking a question. Looking up from the folder, Ted raised a single eyebrow. "Exposition?" "Disapproval," Trevor corrected, folding his arms across his chest as his expression darkened another subtle shade.
  12. As the blinding beams of light cut into the metallic sheen covering Willow, Jack caught a brief glimpse of familiarly coppery skin along with the note of pained reaction. To his metamagi senses, cosmic energy rolled off of the controlled woman in violent waves vacuum cold and alien disharmonies. Greatcoat thrown back behind him in the furious force of the surrounding chaos, the swordsman's expression was for moment one of undisguised agony before it abruptly set with decision. "...well, that'd be it, then," he muttered to himself almost thoughtfully before launching into a sprint for the nearest erupting mass of thorny plant matter. "Alright hiss-for-brains, here's the score," he shouted as he lept upon the thrashing vine and used its momentum to launch himself further upward toward another verdant tentacle. "You attack my home, my people, and maybe there's not a lot I can do against a giant space hag looking to plastic-couch-cover the damn planet," Jack admitted as he tucked in upon himself and tumbled through the air before landing on a brick outcropping just as it crumbled away and he was back into the air. "But lady, you are going to have to find another dryad because this one's taken!" The swashbuckler's mad path upward and side to side brought him finally to where the besieged immortal hovered, and before she had a chance to react his arm was around her shoulders and his lips upon her own. As he did, the energy manipulator pulled upon the untold oceans of unearthly radiation suffusing Willow and pulled at it, syphoned it into himself with nowhere else to put it. His mind and body shrieked silently at the misuse, but Jack continued, holding his lover close and refusing to let go.
  13. 35 - Cosmic Willow - Bruised, Drained Cosmic Plant Array 28 - Geckoman - 1HP - Staggered, Fatigued on Next Turn 22 - Miss Americana - 1HP 21 - Jack of all Blades - 4HP, Exhausted on Next Turn 18 - Jill O'Cure - Staggered 17 - Black Orchid A - Bruised x1 17 - Black Orchid B - Bruised x1, Drained Toughness (Total +7, Impervious 7) 17 - Black Orchid C 17 - Black Orchid D - Bound and Helpless 10 - Ferros - 2HP - Bruised x1 Alright, Jill and Black Orchids are technically up, but I'm going to give Cosmic Willow/Regular Willow a chance to respond first.
  14. Right, okay, discussed this in chat, so we're going to make it work one way or another. Jack's stunting off of his Energy Sword to syphon off some of the cosmic energy the Gorgon is using to control Willow, with the downside of exposing himself to it at the same time. So: Extra Effort: Power Stunt: Drain Cosmic Energy 13 (Extras: Aura, Duration [+2, Sustained], Flaws: Side Effect 2 [Forces Save Against Mind Control], Power Feats: Improved Critical [18-20]) [27PP] Extraordinary Effort: Increase Power: Improves to Rank 15. Move Action: Reach Cosmic Willow. Standard Action: Touch Attack. (1d20+14=18) Hero Point: Touch Attack, HP reroll. (1d20+14=29) Hero Point: Ultimate Will - Auto 30.

"Point taken," Trevor conceded with a slight frown, considering the question and what advice he might give with the same studious effort he would have given any other challenge of strategy and technique. The young man felt another faint stab of protectiveness, but resolved to focus on a more constructive approach. "Hnn. ...'courtship' was... atypical. Depending on how one counts... first date, rode Night Cycle up the Pramas Bridge's support cables, beat up thugs, visited diner." He ticked each of the components off on his fingers as he listed them.
  16. Initiative. (1d20+3=6) Fffft. Well.
  17. "What?" Kimber blinked her invisible eyelids a few times in mild confusion as she tried to parse what Koshiro was saying before floating a little bit higher over the float and spying the comely coed on his other side. "Oh. Oh! Oooooh... Right, right..." she whispered a little more quietly, lowering her disembodied voice to a volume that objectively still wasn't that stealthy. There was a short silence before the ghost had to stifle a giggle. "I totally just winked but you couldn't see that, huh? Okay, have fun!" There was a brief chill in the air that might have simply been a stray autumn breeze and then the chipper phantom was gone, floating back into the crowd at street level. Unseen by anyone, she kicked at a pebble a little dejectedly, sighing softly as her foot went right through the tiny rock.
  18. Well, in terms of genre conventions, I would assume this is like the Silver Surfer not literally being made of silver, but I'll defer to AA here since he designed Cosmic Willow's build and the Gorgon.
  19. The look of delight on Kimber's translucent blue face when Summers had assigned the team to patrol the celebration suggested that the phantasm hadn't really heard much after 'parade'. That bubbly good cheer took a substantial hit when she remembered that she wouldn't be able to pass for human in the broad daylight. With mingling amongst the crowd ruled out, she instead resigned herself to gliding invisible and immaterially through revelers and floats, nothing to signify her presence expect for the occasional crackle of static on a walkie talkie or storefront television set. Her mood bounced back as she spotted a familiar face on one of the rolling entries in the procession. Speeding off after the float, the ghost slid next to Koshiro, still invisible and only sticking halfway out of the seat next to him. "Psst, hey! Hey, Koshiro! It's me, Kimber!" she whispered excitedly, the quiet voice coming from thin air. "I didn't know you were into protecting the environment and stuff! Y'know, I spent like fifteen years in the woods! I mean, I was crazy at the time, but still!"

Trevor let out a light breath, the faintest ghost of a laugh in his own restrained parlance. "Pastries and coffee, hmm? Could probably be persuaded," he agreed, deadpan as he gave Erin's hand a small squeeze. It was hard not to notice that he made sure to release his grip before the elevator doors opened again, however, as he stepped out into the hallway and quickly referred to a mounted placard indicating the occupants of each office. Finding the room number he was looking for, the young man led the way. Moments later they came to an open door leading into a spacious corner office. There was certainly no mistaking that they had the right room: while the familial resemblance between Trevor and his grandfather was strong, Ted Hunter literally bridged the gap between them, a severe looking man with jet black hair and an immaculate suit. Whatever path he had chosen in life, Ted had retained the discipline taught by the eldest Hunter, both mental and physical. Powerfully built with lean muscle concealed by a tailored jacket fitted to his impressive height, it was easy to see the man Trevor might eventually fill out into. "Sell it all," he was saying into a smart phone as they approached the doorway. After a short pause he continued, apparently cutting off whoever was on the other end of the line, "Didn't ask for opinion. Do it." With that he hung up and purposefully moved a stack of papers from one pile on the massive mahogany desk to another. "On time," Ted remarked without looking up from his organization. "Surprising." "Extrdimensional Nazi attacked the plane," Trevor explained, his voice a even more level and without inflection than normal. "Quickly resolved." Ted grunted indistinctly as though to suggest that that answered any questions he might have had.
  21. To answer your other question, if you take a look at the last list of actions for the Black Orchids, you'll see that Black Orchid D is the one that scored a critical hit against Ferros. 35 - Cosmic Willow - Feinted 28 - Geckoman - 1HP - Staggered, Fatigued on Next Turn 22 - Miss Americana - 3HP 21 - Jack of all Blades - 6HP 18 - Jill O'Cure - Staggered, Dazed 17 - Black Orchid A - Bruised x1 17 - Black Orchid B - Bruised x1, Drained Toughness (Total +7, Impervious 7) 17 - Black Orchid C 17 - Black Orchid D - Bound and Helpless 10 - Ferros - 2HP - Bruised x1 Miss Americana is up.
  22. I miscounted how many HP he used on his turn, I'll adjust it. And I'm with AA there; you don't get an HP for saving the civilians and then get an HP for saving the civilians!

Trevor observed the floating mugs with an approving expression that read faintly like fraternal pride. He quirked an eyebrow slightly at the petite telepath's request, however. "Not sure I'm the best source," he cautioned, leaning against the counter while the grinder did its work. As good as he felt about his relationship with Erin, he hardly considered himself an expert on the subject. In fact, he suspected a considerable amount of his relevant experience qualified as untypical and of limited application elsewhere. "Can try, though."
  24. We did establish that there were civilians that needed getting out of the way, so an HP for that seems reasonable. I'm also fine with that AP stunt, given the descriptors, but I'm not sure how it qualifies as Subtle. I think what you want is Indirect, since the metal is coming from somewhere other than Ferros' own location, but the Area extra makes that sort of moot. As a more general point, putting a PP total with your stunted powers would be a good idea. I can see from his sheet that he's working with 42 PP, but having that noted with the stunted power in the OOC would make math checking easier in the future. Black Orchids A - D Reflex Save vs. DC 20. (1d20+5=23, 1d20+5=21, 1d20+5=21, 1d20+5=9) Black Orchid D is bound and helpless, then! We'll need that same save for Cosmic Willow and Geckoman, naturally. 35 - Cosmic Willow 28 - Geckoman - 2HP - Staggered, Dazed, Mind Controlled 22 - Miss Americana - 4HP 21 - Jack of all Blades - 6HP 18 - Jill O'Cure - Staggered, Dazed 17 - Black Orchid A - Bruised x1 17 - Black Orchid B - Bruised x1, Drained Toughness (Total +7, Impervious 7) 17 - Black Orchid C 17 - Black Orchid D - Bound and Helpless 10 - Ferros - 1HP - Bruised x1
  25. Alright, it's been more than 24 hours, so we're skipping Ferros. Cosmic Willow is up.
