  3. "Point," Erik conceded with a deep nod. "I have to keep reminding myself that you're not exactly new to this," he continued with a note of apology, unfolding his arms to rub the back of his neck with one hand. "That said, don't get overconfident." A wry smirk replaced his more pensive expression as he pointed a thumb towards his own chest. "That's my job. Now, let's start with your opening stance."

"Prefer to plan to avoid the worst case scenario," Trevor noted frankly as he powered down the scanning equipment and tossed the tarp back over it. "But. If it came to it, the plan is to do anything it takes to get you back." It was said without any particular weight or edge, in the dark haired young man's usual even tone, but Erin could tell he meant it literally. Tugging the heavy material into place to cover the cylinder once more, he clapped his hands lightly to shake dust from them. "Think I owe you dinner."
  5. Erik folded his arms across his chest but chuckled in spite of himself. "I meant if they were armed and real, chica," he clarified. "Whatever, you were awesome," Ellie interjected flatly as she linked one arm with Mara's elbow and gave her brother a defiant look. The elder sibling could only hold up his hands in mock defense. "It wasn't bad, anyway," he drawled with a wry smirk, intentionally baiting his sister now. More seriously, he added, "I just don't want to see either of you learn to dodge the way I did: trial and error."
  6. "The hell is the matter with you fools?!" Wail boomed, his indignation resounding in the bones of everyone present. "Some joker tells you to drink the Kool-Aid and you ask how big a glass?" One of the bolder among the pill swallowing, costume wearing group began to voice a counterpoint but was cut off by an emphatic, "Sit DOWN!" This time, the broad-shouldered educators shout carried physical force, knocking the entire crowd to the warehouse floor and silencing any objections.

Trevor's mouth opened slightly to ask if she meant checking out the women superheroes before thinking better of it. Erin had never been a huge fan of doctors or medical facilities, and Archeville's betrayal had only made that worse. "Sure," he nonchalantly replied instead, not making an issue of it either way. The least he could do was be present to lend moral support. Besides, at this point, an extra set of eyes to make sure everything was on the up and up was starting to look like a good idea instead of just paranoia. It only took a few more moments for the scanner to complete its cycle, the sliding ring moving all the way to the bottom of the column and then back to the top. A green light lit up on the console. "Clear," Trevor announced, letting out a small breath.
  8. Kimber blinked a few times as Indira addressed her, blobbing up and down slowly in the air, her feet about six inches off of the ground. "Oh, well, it's mostly like being alive, really," she responded, her mouth twisting slightly as she considered the question seriously. "Only, y'know, with more flying and I can't touch anything or remember much and I spent like fifteen years totally bonkers and trying to scare the marmalade out of anybody who got close and... um." The translucent teen paused as her mind caught back up with her rambling. "I guess it's kind of a big question."
  9. Having already had time to poke around the less secure areas of True North's databases, Sharl didn't have much trouble connecting to Bombardier's onboard computer. Convincing the irate Québécois that the report of a young woman transforming into a giant, furry monster wasn't an elaborate prank call took a little more doing, but eventually the green and white clad speedster Verglas arrived in the clearing trailing a long ice slick that faded into the distance of the woods and with the heavily beared, leather jacket wearing Daniel Storm in tow. The latter conferred intently with Kimber for a few minutes while the former, a friendly woman only in her late twenties herself, fretted over the still sleeping Becky and complimented the other teenagers on their quick thinking. Making his way brusquely over in a manner that suited his name, Storm explained in terse terms that the local girl had been possessed by a wendigo spirit, drawn by the nearby convergence of magnetic ley lines that had been in part responsible for the creation of a specter of Kimber's unusual properties. The bad news was that there wasn't any permanent way to remove the spirit from its host, but the good news was that the unconventional mystic knew of techniques that would allow Becky greater control of the transformation over time.
  10. Erik made a sound of agreement that wasn't overly critical but didn't make any attempt to spare the young engineer's feelings. "Good. Recognizing where you need to improve is going to make this a whole lot easier." Tapping a few keys of the control panel that sent the drones marching back to their storage berths, he stepped over the the couple. "Probably don't have to tell you this, but if they'd been armed and not pulling their punches, two hits would have been two too many." For all his usual jocular humour, the swordsman's manner now was focused and sober.
  11. The time that had been set aside for training being put to somewhat different but similarly vigorous use, the swashbuckler and the dryad eventually found themselves propped up in one corner of the Wreck Room in a comfortable tangle of limbs, using an exercise towel sized for the Interceptors' most imposing member as an ad hoc blanket. Erik rested the back of his head against the cool metal wall, his dark blue eyes half lidded as he absently traced the curve of Willow's bare shoulder with the fingertips of one hand. "Mmh, you are a force of nature, you know that?" he murmured, the corner of his mouth quirking upward.
  12. The reckless rush was a calculated gamble, but it paid off. The training drone obviously hadn't been anticipating the sudden change in tactics, and was caught squarely across the metallic curve it had instead of a chin, immediately shutting itself down in response. "Ha ha!" Ellie cheered, pumping her fist in victory before running over to give her perspiring girlfriend a hug. Looking over Mara's shoulder, she stuck her tongue out at her brother. "In your face!" Erik gave his younger sibling an amused look before nodding approving himself. "Alright, you gotta a little quick in you. That gives us a place to start."
  13. For his part, Midnight stiffened imperceptibly at the way he and Wander were announced. He'd expected al-Darsah to be privy to the events on the plane and the players involved, certainly, but Young Freedom had understandably avoided publicizing that particular exploit any more than necessary. Obviously Typhoon's river of information ran deep indeed. Narrowing his eyes behind the ruby lenses of his mask, he looked past the needless show of wealth to the man on the throne. Typhoon seemed completely legitimate in his dialogue with Ace and Bombshell, overwrought though it may have been. The black clad young man also picked up on what he assumed was a father's concern mingled with annoyance at familial behaviour in public. There seemed to be no deception about the armored figure; evidently what others thought was not the concern of Typhoon.
  14. Okay, stepping it up a notch. Emotion Control 13 (Extras: Area [General, Burst, 60ft radius], Linked [Trip], Flaws: Limited [Fear], Range 2 [Touch]) [7PP] + Trip 13 (Extras: Area [General, Burst], Linked [Emotion Control], Flaws: Range [Touch], Feats: Improved Trip) [14PP] (Fearsome Roar) [21PP] This is his 'sit down and shut up' power. They get a DC 23 Reflex save to half the DC 23 Will save against fear, but the trip works a little differently. It's actually a contested check, his power check vs. either their Strength or Dexterity, whichever is worse (as per Improved Trip). Area Trip Check. (1d20+13=32)
  15. The blow was well placed, clipping one of the remaining drones across the shoulder without opening herself up to attack. The final robot took a careful step backward, the tilt of its boomerang shaped head suggesting it was sizing up the inventor. Erik rubbed the stubble on his chin absently with one thumb, watching the fight intently. His eyebrows rose slightly every time he noted a strength or a mistake, taking careful stock on what needed the most work and what could be built upon. Unfortunately, it seemed the last android had been paying attention as well, as a sudden kick caught Mara across the shin. Ellie reflexively covered her mouth with one hand; the next contact would decide the winner.
  16. 12 is exactly enough to hit! Attack Mara. (1d20+1=16) Only one drone left, but Mara's been tagger twice now, too!
  17. It took even Erin a moment to spot Trevor despite his proximity, as the young man did an admirable job of disappearing into the crowd of disembarking passengers and generally just not being where anyone was looking. "Should be in uniform, even if you need Mark to alter your clothes," he advised in hushed tones, his eyes flicking about behind his concealing sunglasses. "Typhoon is... difficult to predict, reportedly. Quick to anger." There certainly wasn't any point in risking setting the head of state off with a arguable breach of dress code. "Midnight will be along soon." With that, the young man was simply gone.
  18. Kimber shied away from Corbin until his fiery weaponry and armor elements had disappeared, but offered the broad-shouldered youth a cheery smile that wrinkled her freckled nose as he extended his hand. Moving forward through the air, she stretched out her own fingers, only to have them pass harmlessly back and forth through the proffered digits. "Hee, sorry, not much of a handshaker, these days," she admitted, bobbing up and down a bit with amusement before turning her attention to the others. "Oh, Dan doesn't carry a cellular phone," the apparition explained in response to Sharl's inquiry, floating quickly over to the holographic youth to get a better look at the device in his hand while demonstrating a certain obliviousness to the concept of personal space. "I don't know why, though! Look how tiny that is! So adorable!" The local spirit placed both hands on her cheeks as if overcome before soaring over to Eve and the sleeping Becky so quickly she ended up nearly parallel to the leaf strewn ground. "You guys are so awesome, seriously! Shining knight and saving the day with a kiss - total fairy tale stuff, right?!" She punctuated the observation with a dreamy sigh. The immaterial girl was chattering too quickly for anyone to actually respond to her question, and didn't show any signs of slowing down as she dipped down through the air until her toes were mere inches above the forest floor and she could greet Indira at triple-eye level. "Are you like a Terminator? I think I saw that movie before I died. Ha, well, I guess I must have, right, or I wouldn't even know about it!" Kimber laughed lightly, giving little thought to the casual mention of her own untimely demise. "However you do that, it's rad, so you can call yourself whatever you want! And the quilt was just-- oh jams, cold, right!" Floating up a few feet, the phantom balled her hands into fists and visibly concentrated. Within moments, the preternatural chill of the clearing was replaced with the same summer heat as the rest of the woods. "Sorry about that," she mumbled sheepishly, her bubbly cheer finally somewhat subdued.
  19. Eve's first touch drew a quieter, confused huff from the great beast's jowls, and with the second, her eyes flickered closed and the wendigo dropped to its knees. Perched atop, Sage was slowly lowered to the forest floor as the monster shrank back down, the additional pair of arms retreating and the white fur fading away until the French telepath was left cradling the sleeping form of the slender brunette, a sound suspiciously like purring reverberating deep in Becky's chest as she unconsciously pulled closer. Blinking is surprise for a few beats, the cabin's azure apparition glanced over to the pile of clothes and hiking gear ruined by the local guide's transformation and clapped her hands with inspiration and flew back through the wall of the wooden domicile. Moments later she reappeared, using the door this time, while a sizable quilt floated behind her. Brow furrowed in concentration as she maneuvered the heavy blanket, the ghost let it drape over Becky's shoulders. "Well, that's better! Oh, I never said!" she realized, reflexively doing a small loop, end over end in the air. "I'm Kimber." The phantom waved one hand cheerily, greeting the gathered teenagers.
  20. Wail's making just a regular Intimidate check to start off with. Intimidate check. (1d20+15=25)
  21. Will Save vs. DC 28. (1d20+11=22) That's another fatigue, which means she's unconscious!
  22. Will Save vs. DC 28. (1d20+11=19) Exhausted!
  23. Anyone looking away from Mark's questioning of the princess to take stock of the plane's first class section would find Midnight vanished as suddenly as he'd appeared, lending some eerie credence to the villain's assertion that he must be a ghost. A few moments later, as things were finally settling down, Trevor Hunter appeared from the doorway leading to the cockpit, steadying himself on the door frame and looking a little rattled despite his collected demeanor. "Pilots say we're almost there," he announced to the other passengers. "Should be fine to land."
  24. Mara's on-the-fly calculations seemed to be paying off as she remained one step ahead of the drones and tagged another across its chest plate. "Woo!" Ellie cheered, allowing herself a short hop of enthusiasm as the tagged robot removed itself from the diminishing melee. "She's kicking their shiny metal butts!" "So far so good," her brother allowed with a nod and a small smile of approval. "But those things aren't just following a pattern, they're learning, too." As if on cue, one of the androids drew Mara's attention with a feint while the other circled about and caught the engineer with a light blow across her shoulder blade. It wasn't enough to hurt, but she certainly knew she'd been hit.
  25. Aid Attack. (1d20+1=16) Attack Mara. (1d20+3=20) That's two bots down and one tag on Mara!
