  1. Between the directions on the map and the wealth of information Sharl was able to access remotely, the small group had no difficulty navigating their way through the forest, although to foliage became increasingly dense as they went, and the trail less and less well defined. By about an hour into their trek they were forced to go no more than two at a time, or in Corbin's case, single file. Becky evidently had some experience with long hikes, not appearing at all tired by the long walk, but her expression was becoming subtly distracted and nervous the closer they got to their destination. Just as those at the front of the group could make out the edge of a clearing through the remaining trees, however, the Tronik teen's connection began to sputter with bouts of increasingly severe static. His more solid companions likewise noticed an abrupt drop in temperature, plummeting from the balmy summer heat to a distinct chill that dropped to an uncomfortable cold the further they walked. By the time they reached the small opening in the forest and spotted a log cabin in obvious disrepair, it was clear that something most unnatural was afoot.
  2. He's Bluffing that he knows exactly where Grim is, as opposed to just knowing that she's somewhere in the vicinity, with the aim of getting the Queen to lead them to where she is or potentially tipping her hand in some other manner.
  3. Alright, that sounds like a plan. I think I'll go with the second proposed alternative, using the power stunt now but Inspiring instead of attacking. That way I still get to do the cool visual, but everyone else gets a better opportunity to do something cool as well. Since he can inspire six teammate, the bonus goes to Dynamo, Thrude, Grimalkin, Colt, Willow and Fulcrum. Since the attack didn't happen now, I'm going to tweak this slightly: Blazing Sword Container [31PP] Strike 0 (Power Feats: Improved Critical, Mighty, Extras: Linked) [2PP] + Drain Fortitude 12 (Extras: Linked) [12PP] + Drain Toughness 18 (Extras: Linked) [18PP] Decreased Strength 2 [-2PP] Enhanced Feats 1 (Interpose) [1PP] I'm not sure if a Concentration check is still needed for the Inspire, but we can just go with the previous reroll if it is. The Inspire costs another HP regardless.
  4. Doc, I want to apologize for putting you in an awkward position there. I knew you were looking to prolong the fight, and even expecting a Fiat to that effect I could have waited until later to break out that power stunt. (It occurred to me a little belatedly that I could have Inspired instead of attacking, too, but that's neither here nor there.) I got excited and didn't really think it through. Sorry to back you into a corner like that. I'm going to sleep on the IC post rather than rush it out while I'm this tired, but I will have it up before long.
  5. Well, it's not like they don't have the HP, I suppose! Jill O'Cure Extraordinary Effort: Part 1: New Will Save Will Save vs. DC 22. (1d20+10=20) Hero Point: Will Save vs. DC 22, HP reroll. (1d20+10=14) So, 24. Extraordinary Effort: Part 2: Power Stunt off of Biological Manipulation Array: Growth 16 (64'; Extras: Affects Others, Flaws: Limited [Others], Power Feats: Growth Strike, Drawbacks: Action [Move]) [48PP] (Giant Force Field Armor) Healing 2 (Power Feats: Regrowth) [5PP] (Maintaining the Armor) Move Action: Use Growth on Jack. Standard Action: Auto-DC 30 Taunt vs. R'K'Vll w/ Skill Mastery. Jack of all Blades Extraordinary Effort: Part 1: New Will Save. Hero Point: Ultimate Will! Extraordinary Effort: Part 2: Power Stunt off of Energy Sword: Blazing Sword Container [31PP] Strike 0 (Power Feats: Improved Critical 2, Mighty, Extras: Linked) [3PP] + Drain Fortitude 12 (Extras: Linked) [12PP] + Drain Toughness 18 (Extras: Linked) [18PP] Decreased Strength 2 [-2PP] Move Action: Auto-DC 36 Feint vs. R'K'Vll w/ Skill Mastery and Fast Talk. Standard Action: Blazing Sword; Power Attack 5. (1d20+7=17) Concentration: Concentration Check vs. DC 10. (1d20+2=4) Hero Point: Reroll for automatic success. To clarify, with all of this, Jack is acting with +12 Attack, 22 total Defense, 36 (+18) Strength and +18 Toughness. That puts his Damage cap at +18, as well. The Drain Fortitude is DC 10 + 12 + 5 Power Attack = 27 The Drain Toughness is DC 10 + 18 + 5 Power Attack = 33 The Toughness Save is DC 15 + 18 + 5 Power Attack + 4 Growth Strike = 42 Jill spends 1 HP, Jack spends 2 and they'll each spend another next round to downgrade the Exhaustion to Fatigue.
  6. Both Trevor Hunter and Ellie Espadas will be attending FCU in the fall for Engineering and Pre-Med, respectively.
  7. So, wait, neither Jack nor Jill is able to do anything this round? Is there an action they can take to clear the confuse or spend an HP or something? Does it matter that Jack has Ultimate Will?
  8. Groovy, AA. I'd say that's enough to make him familiar with the local flora and fauna and, in combination with the map they've been provided, figure out where they should be headed.
  9. Giving Wander a reassuring nod as she entered, Wail returned to watching carefully though the warehouse window, silently observing the continuing meeting. The entire affair was disconcertingly organizer, and the experienced hero was unsettled that things had come this far in his own backyard without him noticing. There had been a time when he had prided himself on having his finger on the pulse of the entire city, Lincoln in particular, and he wondered if that was still the case.
  10. Speaking of which, anyone so inclined, feel free to make a Survival check or use any other skill you think seems relevant here.
  11. Jack wasn't sure he was catching all of the subtext floating around, but he at least noticed that neither Nick nor Changeling was going anywhere near the food laid out of the banquet tables. The hairs on the back of the swordsman's neck stood up with the growing sense of indistinct danger. Reflexively reaching out with his metamagi senses, he immediately caught an unmistakably familiar scent of three dimensional paisley as Grimalkin's mystical energies filtered into his traditional senses. He couldn't tell where exactly she was, but his captured teammate was close. The coldness of the swashbuckler's expression suddenly matched their surroundings much better. "Right, look, the whole courtly intrigue thing is super fun and all, but I can already sense exactly where my friend is, Tall, Frigid and Royal," he exaggerated slightly, tapping a finger to the side of his forehead. "You already saw us take Lady Whatsherface apart, and now you went and made it all personal. So game over, unless you want me carving up your snow fort." His younger sibling stepped to stand next to him, subtle flickers of power beginning to gather around her fingertips as she folded her arms. "There's this expression about snowballs and hell that applies to your chances here," she noted flatly. Jill didn't know what her brother's plan was specifically, but she didn't need to to back his play.
  12. Jack is making an Auto-DC 36 Bluff check against the Queen in this post, to be clear, Aided by his sister's Auto-DC 30, for a total of 38.
  13. Notice Check vs. DC 25. (1d20+10=28)
  14. Erik laughed at the whimsical display of affection, his pensive mood broken. "Ha, fair enough. Guess I can't pull off self-deprecating." It was pretty hard to feel too bad about himself with a beautiful woman leaning against his bare chest, slipping an arm around the small of the slender immortal's back. "So can we just agree that we're both awesome and shouldn't pretend otherwise?" he asked wryly, inclining his chin to brush his lips over the point of Willow's ear.

"Probably wise," Trevor agreed with a subdued nod, privately glad he wouldn't have to suggest psychic measures himself later. Apart for the worldwide rebuilding in the wake of Archeville's betrayal, there was a lingering sense of paranoia and disquiet that the dark haired young man doubted would fade any time soon. It was little comfort, but at least it seemed unlikely that the scientist would have an opportunity to put any contingency plans into motion immediately. "One thing at a time, regardless."
  16. Erik paused for a moment as he opened the door to the Wreck Room, turning to give Mara a bemused look before shaking his head with a small smile. "Kid, you scare me a little sometimes, and I mean that in a good way," he assured her as he stepped inside. "Not because of the personality reprogramming," Ellie clarified sotto voce, knocking into the slight blonde's hip with her own. "He's terrified of words with more than two syllables."
  17. While Becky didn't seem entirely convinced that 'the Headmaster' wasn't the codename of the United Nation handler who gave the diverse group their missions, the evening wore on in pleasant conversation and a prodigious amount of food until it was finally time to retire to the hotel for the evening. Those inclined to sleep had the opportunity to do so, and the next morning, properly rested and equipped, they were finally ready to set out. Their new local friend arrived with Eve as the teenagers convened over a continental breakfast in the hotel's dining room, and offered to accompany them despite her lingering nervousness about their destination, given that the Claremont bound students were all, to varying degrees, out of their element. After a fairly lengthy ride and a short trek, they arrived at the far edge of one of the area's many camping parks, facing the entrance to a series of trails winding though the birch and cedar trees.
  18. The smile Wail gave Wander made it clear that as much as Keith LaMarr may have been a man of learning who had mellowed with age and sough a better way, he was not, nor had he ever been, one to shy away from a fight. "Just gotta act like you're so sure you're supposed to be there, they wonder if maybe they got the wrong address, kid," he advised the young woman. He'd have been considerably more reluctant to send her in ahead if he hadn't seen her go toe to toe with a fascist dinosaur from another dimension. He was reasonably sure she could handle herself. "Things go south, just shout."
  19. Jack will be delaying until just after Jill, but before Willow, incidentally.

Never let it be said I'm afraid to steal a good idea from Shaen: [*:1tzg66c4]Jacque of all Blades, Level 36 Magic Scrapper, Fiery Melee / Super Reflexes [*:1tzg66c4]The Black Wail, Level 14 Science Corruptor, Sonic Attack / Sonic Resonance If you want to do a little red side grinding for Wail and Skharab some time, Shaen, let me know.
  21. Fawkes found himself hard pressed between both the armored heroine's sparking gauntlets and the virulently glowing touch of her girlfriend, as Jill O'Cure stepped in to harry the knife wielding maniac. The Irish terrorist proved surprisingly hardy for his advanced years and lack of metahuman abilities, his billowing black cloak taking the brunt of the attacks and he shrugged off the remaining effects, cackling madly all the while, emboldened by his opponents' inability to bring him down.
  22. Jill O'Cure Move Action: Auto-DC 25 Feint vs. Guy Fawkes II Standard Action: Autoimmunity Touch. (1d20+12=24) Guy Fawkes II Bluff Check vs. DC 25. (1d20+13=16) Fort Save vs. DC 22. 23. Just to be clear, Jack is spending one of his many, many HP to clear his fatigue (didn't get a chance in the first combat section). Unrelated, this beastie is something like 64' tall, right?

"Make it up to you with dinner," Trevor promised seriously as he got into the passenger seat of Erin's truck. He truly loathed ruining the good mood she'd been in after seeing her new uniform, butt this really was potentially serious. "Wouldn't need trust if he's controlling them," he pointed out with a small shrug. The picture of just what had happened to Viktor Archeville was still a little murky, with those most involved being fairly tight-lipped about it, and it was hard to say just how much of the takeover attempt had been planned and how much had been pure madness.

"Probably nothing to find," Trevor agreed with a nod, putting a comforting arm around Erin's shoulders. "Rather find nothing now than get a nasty surprise later, though." Archeville hadn't had much opportunity to introduce anything into Erin's system, and even if he had the powerhouse's superhuman immune system would have made things difficult even for artificial intruders, but the mad scientist had found some opportunity to control other heroes and the young man wasn't about to leave Erin in potential jeopardy by being complacent. "Pretty good idea what to look for. Should have the necessary equipment at the Manor."
