  2. Jack frowned, looking pensive as he rubbed the light stubble across his jawline with one hand. "Hey, Grim can take care of herself," his sister reminded him, jabbing an elbow into his side lightly. "She'll be fine until we can get there." "Oh, I know that," he responded immediately with a forced levity and confident smirk. "I was just trying to decide whether to go with a 'cold' theme for the banter this time around or try to work with that whole 'air and darkness' thing," he explained with exaggerated gravitas. "Y'know, airhead, blowing smoke, dimbulb, shadow of your former self..." As soon as Jill turned away with a grumble, his smile faded significantly, but his voice remained confident as he continued, "Well, I'll decide on the way. Let's go."
  3. "See, it's like you know you need to take better care of yourself, and yet..." Ellie teased dryly, heaving an exaggerated sigh that gave way to a smile despite her best efforts. There was a fine line to be walked between convincing Mara to actually get a full night's sleep occasionally and convincing her not to be so hard on herself, but fortunately the blonde inventor was much too determined to give up now that she'd set her mind to it. For his part Erik nodded approvingly. "Alright, good attitude. C'mon, I've set up a basic training program in the Wreck Room to start with," he explained, indicating another of the underground base's hallways by pointing a thumb over his shoulder.
  4. Trevor regarded Hope silently for a long moment before finally blinking. Adjusting the way he was carrying Redbird's core computer, he slowly extended one closed fist toward where Corbin stood, the broad-shouldered underclassman looking a little bashful that his plan had actually come to fruition. "Hnn. Nice." He didn't want to get into it just then, partly due to who was listening and how much everyone needed to finally rest, but he was heartened by the implication that Erde's version of his grandfather had apparently lived to fight another day, successfully at that. He owed Cobalt Templar one for that.
  5. "Hey, don't apologize, it makes sense," the fencer assured the ancient guardian, making an airy wave with his free hand. "You spent basically forever living outside. The underground base deal wigs me out a little too, sometimes." Even with the generous proportions of the central hub and hallways, there was something innately claustrophobic about the long metal hallways. After a beat, he cleared his throat lightly and added, "Y'know, you don't have to call me 'Jack' when we're... when I'm out of costume."
  6. "That's the idea, yeah," Erik agreed with a nod of his own. "Which is good, it'll save time. Still not going to be overnight, though," he warned the petite engineer frankly. "Today I mostly just want to get a feel for where you're at now and set you up with some exercises you can do when you get a spare minute here and there." "Heh... 'overnight exercise'. In all seriousness, this is one time he's not talking about his--" Ellie stopped short as she was interrupted by a loud clearing of the throat, shrugging innocently before turning back to Mara with a more serious look. "Just don't get discouraged the first go, okay?" As much as this had been her brother's initiative, she worried about her girlfriend's safety, too, and was hoping her inherited propensity for fitness would be something they could share.

  8. You cannot unsee it!
  9. Midnight simply caught Gardener's eyes as the electric paragon looked from person to person and held the gaze, his expression schooled into perfect neutrality. He said nothing, nor did he prolong the unblinking eye contact long enough to force a reaction from the older man, but the glossy onyx and sanguine orbs pierced into the Captain's own just long enough to plant a seed of acute disquiet. That done he turned on his heel and began to leave. "Ready." Travis stamped his cane on the floor with a flat snort before following suit, keeping pace with his grandson despite the need for assistance. "Car out front," The elderly hero spared a concerned glance at what was left of the Lucas family as they slipped away, shaking his head sadly. "When time allows," the metallic egg nestled in the crook of Trevor's arm spoke, "there are... observances tradition to the Furions I would like to make." That elicited a taciturn but understanding nod from the soft-spoken youth as he reached out his other hand toward Erin.
  10. Jack will spend an HP to cancel the fatigue, but skip him so Dok can do something useful.
  11. Jack reflexively leaned forward slightly as Willow pulled back from the kiss, a little surprised by the soft gesture from the usually more aggressive wild woman. If nothing else, she certainly kept him guessing. "Hey, any time, florecita," he promised with an unguarded smile. Offering the slender dryad the crook of his arm, he led the way inside. As good as the neighbourhood was about respecting the privacy of the sometimes eccentric group living in the brownstone apartment building, holding a full on combat training session in the backyard was probably pushing their luck.
  12. Before I forget, Dragonfly and Fulcrum both have Life Support, but: Jill O'Cure: Fort Save vs. DC 10. (1d20+7=18)
  13. Erik Espadas tilted his head slightly as he heard the rhythmic knock on the brownstone apartment building's front door. "...'two bits'?" Standing from his seat on a stool at the island countertop in the center of the kitchen area, he set aside a nearly finished glass or orange juice and the paper's sports section and moved to the front door, unlocking it and puling it open. For a beat he simply looked at the grinning figure revealed on the front steps. The green of the ballcap combined with the goggles made recognition almost immediate. "What? No. What?" So saying, the athletic young man simply closed the door again in the visitor's face.
  14. The base looks good on the whole, for sure! I think 2PP is a pretty reasonable investment (even if I will have to shift some PP around on Jack and Jill to do it!) I'm in the same boat as a lot of you in thinking that the SkyBikes are hella cool, but really not a necessity, especially if Gecks can bring his airship to the party in a pinch. In this case, it's not like we have any reason not to get them, but I'm not sure how good an argument that really is. I'm going to vote 'yes' so we've at least got them if we need them, but also note that I'd like to see the Pitchoo more often than them, just because it's more specifically iconic. And green. The Cerebro thing is sort of meta-hilarious, in that Jack is nothing like Professor X in the slightest. Again, with Vince's abilities there's really no need for it, except to be funky and move plots along. I say we tuck the idea away for now, and if there's ever a really good reason to use it, we can accomplish it with some combination of stunting and Dok's Gadgets. If that ever happens, we can look at adding it permanently then.
  15. Midnight sat silently on one side of a table in a spartan room while the Raven sat opposite, equally still. Moments stretched into minutes as the two dark clad vigilantes seemed to size each other up, for all any noticeable emotion was kept from their faces. Finally the quiet was broken by one of the Hall's staff arriving carrying a tray with a steaming pot of coffee and a pair of mugs. Looking between the seated pair, he reached to pour the beverage before hesitating, then finally deciding to simply exit with all haste, sweating profusely. Helping himself to a mug, Midnight set it down as a soft tone came from within his jacket. Reaching inside, he removed his handheld tablet, the screen indicating that information had successfully been transferred. Removing a stick of solid state memory, he slid it across the table. "Audio and visual recordings from lens cameras," he noted, indicating the ruby tinted goggles of the mask hanging about his neck. "Complete biometric data. Passive climate, radiation and seismic readings. GPS readings where possible." "I've taken the liberty of copying my own recordings to your computers," a resonant though robotic voice informed the Raven from the gleaming metallic egg sitting on the table on the opposite end from the coffee. "For corroboration." Returning his miniaturized computer to his pocket, Midnight picked his mug back up and took a long sip, wordlessly raising one eyebrow at the Freedom Leaguer as he looked over its rim.
  16. "Not that this hasn't been fun..." Jack began, pausing to leap into the air and deliver a spiraling kick into the chin of the demon covered in metal chains where it lay of the forest floor, putting an end to it's screeching. "But it's about time we moved on to the main event." The spiny creature roared at him, spike adorned arms flung back in a terrifying show of strength. The fencer responded by raising both arms above his head and making a ridiculous face, tongue sticking out as he shouted back, "Oogity boogity!" The infernal monster was momentarily at a loss, which was all Jack needed to make short work of it. Planting one booted foot atop the heap of defeated demon, he looked about the woods. "Tick tock, Blondie, I've got places to be!"
  17. Rubbing his eyes through his bandanna mask, Jack made a long sound suspiciously like the first syllable of a vehement curse. "She's engaged, getting married soon." After a pause, he clarified flatly, "Not to me. But the groom is vanilla human... more or less." "You think they seriously might kidnap her rather than see her go all wedded bliss?" Jill asked with a frown, brow furrowing. "I can see them not wanting her to get too close to the mortal side of things," her brother confirmed his reasoning.
  18. The sibling reappeared a few moments after Equinox, the elder carrying a cylindrical rucksack over one shoulder, the thin material suggesting it had been previous bunched up in a coat pocket for just an occasion. The obvious family resemblance included attractively angular features and sienna toned skin, but where Jill had evidently dyed her hair jet black, Jack's natural colour was revealed to be a dusty brown cropped much shorter than in his costumed persona. "Heh, I really wasn't even going to go there," he admitted with a rueful grin at Siobhan's ill restrained laughter. A white t-shirt for Jack and an oversized dress shirt paired with a fitted vest for his sister successfully converted the pair to inconspicuous street clothes.
  19. General Area caps mean she can only get up to 10 + 15 = 25 for the DC, despite her Strength bonus being higher. Heka: Reflex Saves. (1d20+6=26, 1d20+6=21) Makes his saves. Blackfire: Reflex Saves. (1d20+5=16, 1d20+5=11) Ice'd! Khania: Reflex Saves. (1d20+8=21, 1d20+8=22) Snared as well. Diehard: Reflex Saves. (1d20+8=28, 1d20+8=15) Shoulda got that extra rank of Evasion! The Daka Man: Reflex Saves. (1d20+6=24, 1d20+6=7) Ouch. 21 - The Daka Man - Uninjured - Bound, Helpless 18 - Thrude - Uninjured - 2HP 18 - Diehard - Uninjured - Fatigued, -1 Constitution, Entangled 18 - Khania - Uninjured - Entangled 18 - Willow - Uninjured - 2HP 17 - Guy Fawkes II - Uninjured 17 - Dragonfly - Uninjured - 2HP 17 - Jill O'Cure - Uninjured 16 - Fulcrum - Uninjured - 2HP, -1 Constitution 9 - Heka - Uninjured 8 - Blackfire - Uninjured - Bound, Helpless
  20. Erik nodded in understanding and approval as Mara demonstrated her armor's projections. "Perfect, that works out. My swords are only as solid as I want them to be, so a lot of my repertoire is based on unarmed fighting," the swashbuckler explained, miming a sword strike that shifted to an uppercut mid-swing. "We can start with that; useful if you're caught without the tin pants." With a pointed cough that indicated she was going to leave that last line uncommented upon for the time being, Ellie folder her arms. "It totally never occurred to you that stabbing harder wasn't actually doing anything, did it?" "Well, it makes me feel better," her brother noted with a broad shrug.
  21. "Too be fair, my version was more descriptive," Jack defended, giving the prim teenager a slight bow from the waist that was as defential as it was wry. "But a girl has the right to choose her own moniker, I suppose. Nick's good people, I'm sure his intel is good." "Sounds like Grim walked into a trap," Jill observed, holding her chin with one gloved hand. "We should get moving and see if we can pick up a trail, then."

Gotcha, I bow to the greater experience. D7 and L5 it shall be! For those who haven't been in a supergroup before, the way it works is that in 'Supergroup Mode' you earn prestige for the group which can be spent on various cool stuff for the base. You can also have a group-specific version of your costume, replacing any on your normal colours with the two group colours and having the emblem on your chest. Or not! You can basically switch around as much or as little as you like. So, last big thing is the name. Quinn suggested 'Freedom City Irregulars'. Any other ideas?
  23. "Oh, for..." Grimacing mightily, Jill raised both arms, straightening in her seat. "You can just stop talking, buddy." A faint blue shimmer encircled her hands instants before a perfectly smooth bubble of softly crackling energy formed around the screaming Gillman, trapping him within. Almost as an after thought, she raised the encapsulating construct into the air keeping the crossdimensional cowboy contained and out of the way. Maintaining the prison with one clenched fist, she rose and moved to Dragonfly's side. "Dios. What can I do?" she asked, the face below her bandanna mask creased with worry.
  24. "Crazy beautiful, maybe," Ellie scoffed, knocking into Mara's hip lightly with her own as they walked. "And as a noted fan of you squishy biological bits, I'd at least like to be consulted about any 'modifications' you may be considering." Her tone was equally teasing, but there was a serious undercurrent to it; with the inventive Dragonfly, one could never discount an outlandish musing entirely. Erik coughed pointedly as the pair returned to the hub control room. "Let's try not to mortify the older brother too much, lovebirds," he pleaded wryly as he straightened from his reclined position against the wall. "Mara, you typically use wrist-mounted blades when it comes to close quarters, right?"
  25. "Hey, way I see it, your time's just beginning," Jack corrected smoothly, his customary boyish grin returning to his face. "We can work on getting some of your old mojo back, too, but that's probably like a sciencey, lab test kind of thing, and I'm not much help with that. Work with what we got, right?" The swashbuckler knew from intimate experience that the immortal guardian was in excellent shape, but there was a considerable difference between that and the conditioning of a trained, close range fighter. They would have their work cut out for them. Fortunately, challenge had never been anything but an incentive for the dusty brown haired young man. "We can get started right away, if you're up for it."
