  1. "...acting as lodestones for transdimensional cosmic rays. Power sinks designed to overload at capacity," Trevor was explaining to his grandfather in matter-of-fact terms, sketching the general design of the reality bombs on the screen on his handheld tablet to illustrate the function of the cosmic lightning rods. The original Midnight nodded in understanding as he examined the projectile weapon his protege had handed him for inspection. "Hnn. Would have used pressurized Night Gun," he noted frankly before a faint smile played across his face, largely hidden by his well trimmed beard. "Railgun is better." As the tinny voice arose from Erin's backpack, Trevor schooled the grin threatening to form and arched an eyebrow. Slipping off his jacket he offered it with one hand to the young woman clad in the thought constructs of a very distracted underclassman. "Trade you for a Furion AI?" he offered. Picking up the metallic egg that housed Redbird's consciousness, he frowned slightly. "Hello. ...very sorry about Red Falcon. Hero." After a brief pause, turning the core over in his hands, he admitted, "Not sure where your audio and visual pickups are."
  2. "Thrude, and Willow, too," Ellie confirmed with a nod. "Apparently she's like ridiculously ancient. The idea of 'indoors' was sort of a novelty for her, let along artificial intelligences. Which probably explains why she's so impressed by mi hermano, but that's neither here nor there." The young medic knew that Vince's main computer was mere feet away, buried beneath the Underground's hub, but knew how responsible Mara was with her tremendous ability to communicate with machines. Smiling faintly, she leaned over without warning to give the engineer a brief kiss on the cheek before leading the way back in the direction they'd come. "It won't be torture, just training. You are going to be sore after the first time," she admitted with a slight shrug, "and yes, I know exactly what that sounds like out of context."
  3. Ellie was right behind Mara, hopping into the next changing room and swiftly pulling a familiar red jacket from her messenger bag. While her costume didn't have the instantaneous technology of her girlfriend's armor, practice and honed agility meant that she wasn't far behind the other heroines as she sprinted out of the store in the guise of Jill O'Cure. Sliding to a halt slightly behind Dragonfly and Willow, the tails of her bandanna mask flapping in the storm, she bit back on a string of curses. "Argh, every time, I swear..." she groused to herself before raising her voice against the wind and holding an arm up to keep the rain out of her eyes. "Watch out for the one in the red jumpsuit, he's a total psycho! And the normal looking guy is really a robot or something!"
  4. Jill O'Cure Move Action: Changing room. Free Action: Quick Change. Move Action: Out the door. 21 - The Daka Man - Uninjured 18 - Thrude - Uninjured - 2HP 18 - Diehard - Uninjured - Fatigued, -1 Constitution 18 - Khania - Uninjured 18 - Willow - Uninjured - 2HP 17 - Guy Fawkes II - Uninjured 17 - Dragonfly - Uninjured - 2HP 17 - Jill O'Cure - Uninjured 16 - Fulcrum - Uninjured - 2HP 9 - Heka - Uninjured 8 - Blackfire - Uninjured Fulcrum!
  5. Guy Fawkes II's long black coat flapped loudly in the sudden gale, the brim of his broad hat flipping upward in a manner that suggested it was somehow attached to his painted mask; if not it surely would have blown away. The aging Irish terrorist cackled uproariously to himself as he spotted the verdantly armoured heroine approaching. "Haha! Verily, a vine veiled vigilante versus various villainous virtuosos?" A line shot from one of his sleeves, a bladed point on its end lodging itself firming in a lamppost near the clothing shop Mona had suggested before retracting powerfully to pull him forward against the vicious weather. At the same time, a knife appeared in his other hand, though his sloppy, manic throw missed the ancient guardian altogether.
  6. Guy Fawkes II Move Action: Swing over to Willow. Standard Action: Knife Attack. (1d20+14=15) Auto-Miss! Dragonfly is up.
  7. Ellie rolled her eyes at Mara's insistence of modesty, then proceeded to colour slightly once the curtain had been drawn. "They keep themselves pretty well entertained," she agreed, composing herself with a slight cough and looking studiously at the ceiling. "Vince is sort of a funny one. I'm never really sure how much of what he does is just the way he is or humouring us humans or just a big in-joke. He's a sweetheart either way, though." Tilting her head slightly in appreciation as her girlfriend reappeared, she added, "I think he's been looking forward to meeting you. We've got a lot of physical, nature types around these days."
  8. Catching one of Mark's shoulders as the suddenly appearing reality warper stumbled forward, Trevor helped to hold him upright and steady himself, narrowly managing to sidestep out of the way to avoid being caught up in Corbin's massive embrace. The underclassman had certainly stepped up in a big way over the past few days, but as much as the armored ringbearer put others ahead of himself, the slimmer senior knew where his own worries lay. "Go, find Quo-Dis," he instructed with a small nod that confirmed the others could finish cleaning up in the meantime. Glancing down at the ruined armor, the faintest ghost of a smirk quirked at the corner of his mouth before his expression turned darkly sober once more. "Your mother," he said to his recovering friend, a subtle note of inquiry and tightness in his level tone. "My grandfather, the cat. Do they have a way back?"
  9. "Hnn. Now he shows up..." Midnight grunted at Rick Lucas' arrival, outwardly unaffected by the monumental evens surrounding them as he coolly tucked the railgun into his belt without disassembling it. This... is getting a display case, he thought with a hint of triumph, enough for Eve to pick up the edges of it across their psychic rapport before she stepped through the portal. The young man stepped briskly to the portal, grabbing Erin's hand as he reached the gap in space and pulling her after him as her home dimension collapsed on itself. As soon as they were on the other side and back on Earth-Prime, he pulled his mask from his face, letting the fabric fall around his neck and placing his soot coated fedora atop Erin's head with an uncharacteristically broad grin, white teeth contrasting against his onyx and sanguine eyes as he leaned forward to kiss her, doing his best to balance a fervored intensity with concern for her mildly burned skin. Pulling back slightly, he stayed close, a soft, baritone laugh escaping his usually somber demeanor, a lower counter-note to Corbin's giddy relief. "Did it. We did it."
  10. "You have to admit he pulls off the look, though," a wryly melodic voice called moments before Erik Espadas stepped around the corner connecting one of the Underground's many corridors to the hub room. The athletic young man wore a simple white tank top and loose shorts, both items looking well worn. "Thank you," Vince replied in exasperation, throwing his hands up in the air. "Honestly, all of this doesn't just happen, y'know!" Sighing at their antics, Ellie shook her head. "C'mon, Marbar, I'll show you the locker room so you can change," she instructed, indicating another of the base's spokes.

Okay, so: emblems! The various star patterns are a good, generic option, but I personally think these three have some potential: What do you guys think? In terms of colours, I'm thinking D8 and L6?
  13. The original Midnight had been Freedom City's first shadowy mystery man, a masked hero with nothing but the shadows and his wits to battle the forces of evil and corruption, striking at the darkness from the darkness. Travis Hunter's example would inspire many in the decades to come, but unlike many of them, he had no tragic origin, no senseless loss that drove him to a life of extremes. He was simply a chemist who had found himself in a position to make a choice, had taken the harder, better path and then stayed to it. No burden of responsibility to go with godlike powers, no righteous mandate from on high, no struggle for public validation and acceptance. Just one difficult, right choice after another. That was the essence of Midnight. The lack of criminal violation also meant, Trevor Hunter reflected as he slotted the final piece of his weapon into place, that unlike many of his legacy's imitators, his preparation had included firearm training. As Sage kept just ahead of deadly salvos, four cosmic lightning rods, gathered from the four reality bombs across four parallel worlds slid into the long-barreled railgun. As Red Falcon sacrificed himself to give the youths a fighting chance, electromagnet hummed softly to life while otherworldly electricity began to crackle about their length. As Edge's fury became a wave of physical destruction turning the sky to fire and ashes, the black clad youth planted his feet and took aim. As Wander and Cobalt Templar threw themselves against the embodiment of the end of all things, creating for one brief instant a perfect opening, Midnight pulled the trigger. The last remnants of concealing mist were blows back as the cosmic lightning rods where flung forward by the gratuitous application of one of the universe's four fundamental forces, the cloud parting in a whirlwind to reveal the silent figure of nocturnal retribution. In the fraction of a fraction of a moment before they pierced, one after another so quickly that it may as well have been instantaneous, into Omega's very core, the Beast of Nothingness surely realized that - like so many of the world's he had overrun and sundered, reduced to tortured, hollow husks - he had never stood a chance.
  14. To reiterate from the edit up-thread, Trevor's Gadget's are adding to the cosmic lightning rods' Damage 10 effect with: (Extras: Autofire 3, Flaws: Action [Full Action], Distracting, Power Feats: Accurate 2, Improved Critical 2, Precise Shot) [15PP] +9 Base Attack + 4 Accurate + 3 Master Plan + 5 Inspire - 5 Power Attack = +16. He's currently Concealed, so this will be a Surprise Attack. Besides rendering Omega flat-footed, Midnight's Sneak Attack will add +2 to the final DC. Full Action: Cosmic Lightning Rod Railgun; Power Attack 5. (1d20+16=19) Hero Point: Cosmic Lightning Rod Railgun; HP reroll. (1d20+16=30) Omega's flat-footed Defense is 17. That means the maximum Autofire bonus of +10 applies. DC 15 + 10 Damage + 5 Power Attack + 10 Autofire + 2 Sneak Attack = 42.

Yeah, we've ended up using Virtue for all the characters transported from Freedom City. I think it'll work out well; it's a well populated server with lots of events and roleplay, and if part of the idea is going a little subtle advertising for the site, that's the place to do it. Blue and gold is hard to argue with. I don't mind 'Freedom City Irregulars' either, if nobody else has any ideas.

If we're doing this, it should be soon, 'cause there's a double XP weekend coming up, which includes double prestige. We'd need to choose colours and an emblem, of course.
  17. Jack gave the slender woman a quizzical look for a moment before speaking. He wasn't sure what to make to the subtle changes in Willow's demeanor; they weren't significant enough to really be concerning and he supposed he hadn't really known her long enough to have a good frame of reference for what would or would constitute normal for her. Even so, he was troubled enough that he planned to pay greater attention. "I was thinking about something you said off-hand once, about not being as powerful as you used to be, in the funky plant armor department," he explained, crossing his arms over his chest in a relaxed manner that allowed him to continue gesturing with one hand. "And I figured, that's kind of like me; I'm fighting way out of my power class most of the time these days, but even if I can't shoot lasers out of my eyes, I'm a better fighter." There was surprisingly little boasting in his explanation, his manner touched by the sober frankness he adopted when the gravely responsible and dedicated elements of his personality rose past the facade of light-hearted frivolousness. "So what would you say to some non-powered, hand-to-hand training, to start getting some of your edge back?"

Jacque of all Blades is a Level 30 Fiery/SR Scrapper right now, while Black Wail is a Level 13 Sonic/Sonic Corruptor over on redside hanging with Skharab sometimes. Haven't been able to get on in a couple days, so I'm getting surpassed! Still, putting in some time when I can. And yeah! Super Team! Let's do that thing!
  19. "Well, mostly complaining," Ellie teased with an airy deadpan, waving one hand in the air vaguely before lowering it to slip around Mara's waist and lead the way into the underground complex. "And maybe a little bragging. Besides, Vince is a big ol' gossip. He likes hearing the latest new from everybody even when he's already seen it." "Well it's just a lot of security footage until you delightful kiddos spin it into a story!" Vince's voice followed them downward, his avatar projecting itself upon one of the smooth walls of the octagon shaped central room by the time they arrived. While his form hadn't changed, he was now sporting a fairy tale princesses' ball gown in bright pink, an absurd amount of ruffles and billowing material adding to the simulated bulk. "You do tend to get hung up on the silliest details, though."
  20. Oh, wow, I totally missed that Jill was up. Sorry about that. Jill O'Cure Move Action: Auto-DC 25 Taunt w/Skill Mastery Standard Action: Trap Gillman in a Create Object force field. That's a DC 22 Relfex Save to avoid being trapped.
  21. It was perhaps natural that Trevor had often idly considered fighting Omega; any youth living in Freedom after the 1993 invasion had to have considered the possibility of the Bringer of Entropy's return and his own natural aptitude for planning and tactics had coloured those dark musings. Here, in the face of such a battle, wearied by days of near constant fighting and moving, he found his response was both swift and simple. "Need to breach his armor. Focus on chest emblem," he calmly instructed his teammates, producing handfuls of razor edged throwing disks and flinging them forward on the edge of a roiling cloud of stygnian mist that ripped across the battlefield to envelop the combatants on the ground. The disks didn't even scratch the mighty being's plating, but they provided one more flashing distraction. Even a practical god could only divide his attention so many ways, needed to be able to see what he was attacking. For now, Midnight needed to buy time. "Girlfriend's going to kick your ass," his distressingly level voice echoed as he slipped into the darkness, the uncharacteristic boast buoying his resolve as he began withdrawing modular components from his belt and jacket to piece together a very specific weapon.

  23. Well, I'm going to get in here, too, with a working draft, even though he won't be showing up until a later adventure:
  24. Initiative. (1d20+3=9) *sigh*
  25. Jack laughed shortly as ankle length white hair tumbled down from above and bounced across his torso while he reflexively put an arm around Willow in response. "Well, I try," he replied with mock modesty and a broad grin, lifting her chin with his free hand and lowering his own to kiss her briefly, the winey taste of the dryad's skin brushing against his light stubble and mixing with the scent of campfires. "I had a thought I wanted to run by you," he explained, pausing for a beat before adding, "Well, two thoughts, now that you're all pressed against me and everything, but let's stick with the first one for now."
