  1. Notice Check. (1d20+10=16)
  2. "That's Harrier alright," Jack noted largely to himself at the former Omegadrone's grandiose manner. "Good to see you, big guy. Did the Arthurian chic. And yeah," he continued, addressing the group as a whole, "trust me when I say this is a definite 'kill it with fire' situation. Stuff from the Terminus sorta sweats 'not good'." The energy manipulator hopped down from his perch and leaned heavily against the theater chairs, doing his best to hold down his lunch and intensely regretting his second visit to a street vendor earlier that day. "I'm just not sure fire specifically is going to cut it. This bad juju is all... seepy."
  3. Ellie's cheeks darkened noticeably at the stream of matter-of-fact praise and the soft spoken affirmation of confidence and support, a shy smile playing across her lips even as she ducked her head to hide it. Gina gave Erik a knowing look which taking a sip of coffee from her mug did little to cover, while he son responded by raising his glass in a wry gesture somewhere between a salute and a shrug. "Just in case it's still not clear," the elder Espadas told Mara, "you pass. Welcome to the family." Erik lifted his hand in a forestalling gesture. "Before you ask, yes, it's too late to change your mind."
  4. "So take up a pottery class," Jack grumbled as he narrowed his eyes at the amourous victim. It was faint, but the lingering traces of mental magics wafted about their new friend like cheap perfume tickling behind the metamagi's eyeballs. Pointedly not looking too closely at Grimalkin's glamour drenched form, he scratched the stubble on his chin thoughtfully. "Fae tend to be kinda flaky, but the warehouse thing still seems kinda random. This graffiti... what kind of stuff are we talking? Just words or symbols, sigils and so on?"
  5. "Tell him will do," Midnight nodded shallowly to Mind-Master, glancing down to monitor the glowing diodes on the device mounted on his wrist. After a pause he added, "Watch out for the Blank. We've made things dangerous for him. Makes him more dangerous." While he doubted the master mentalist was given to worrying overly about the schemes of a mere student, Trevor's expression was deadly serious, and any difficulty the immortal had reading his mood with his superhuman abilities should have lent credence to the warning.
  6. Ellie brushed her fingers through her short, dyed hair with a sigh. "No pressure, huh?" "Well, I'm glad to know that somebody else is going to be making sure she stays focused," Gina noted, with a stern look at her daughter. "They're not going to just hand you a doctorate for showing up." "Right, because Ellie's problem has always been a lack of concentration and effort," Erik drawled with amused sarcasm, raising an eyebrow of his own and giving his sister a wink.
  7. Striding toward the shadows with heavy footfalls, Wail planted his feet as he neared the struggling villain, leaving deep imprints in the ground as he leveraged his full, superhuman mass. A broad hand fell securely on Cannonade's shoulder and another around the less stable Silver Whisper's waist, firmly anchoring all three of them and the plaintive Haru. "Hrnn," he grunted, setting his jaw along with the rest of him. "You're making me throw my weight around now, fool."
  8. Depositing their captive in the bizarre plant-matter shed, Wail spent the time he was waiting for Fleur to return trying to piece together where exactly they'd been teleported to. By the time his hostess reappeared, the big man was forced to admit that he had absolutely no idea, his only real clue being the staggeringly large trees of the surrounding forest. Accepting his thermos with a polite nod, he gestured around them. "So just what is all this? Somewhere remote, I assume, but geography's never been my strongest subject."
  9. "Well, considering the last time I got to meet one of his dates I was helping bail her out of jail..." Gina commented lightly, her expression exaggeratedly casual. "Pfft, Talya and I weren't dating," Erik countered around a forkful of food. "We were just--" Stopping abruptly mid-sentence, the young man was suddenly very concerned with finishing his mouthful and washing it down with a gulp of orange juice. "Aheh... Way to ruin the bell curve, hermanita."
  10. "Great," Erik sighed, amusement pulling at the corner of his mouth despite his weary tone, "three point one surround sound." With a broad grin, Ellie leaned over and gave Mara a brief kiss on the cheek, brushing her shin against her girlfriend's leg under the table. "Giving my brother a hard time and complimenting me all at once?" she observed, her smile growing even wider. "I think I'll keep you around after all."
  11. "What? No, c'mon!" Jack protested, pursing his lips briefly and waving Miss Americana's suggestion away. "I mean, I'm pretty sure she's one of the bad guys, so that'd just be-- Well. Maybe." The swashbuckler looked lost in thought for another moment before clearing his throat self-consciously and walking quickly over to check on the head of the building's security team. The security robot the patriotic paragon examined was almost laughably crude compared to her own state of the art systems, but they were certainly functional enough for their intended task. Presumably they remained connected to a central database while in the recharging berths from which they'd emerged, which would have allowed a hacker with the Freebooter's skills to access their programming and make his alterations.
  12. "Tch. No respect..." Erik grumbled, crossing his arms as his sister chuckled. "Let's just say I figure you two have a better chance of making me an abuela," Gina noted drolly, resting her chin in one hand. "Hey, can I help it if most of the single women I meet are actively trying to kill me?" the fencer argued, taking another bite of tamale and slouching slightly in his seat. Ellie coughed lightly into the back of her hand, covering both a smirk and an involuntary reddening of her cheeks at her mother's comment. "At what point do you start wondering if the problem might be you, hermano?"
  13. "Hm? Oh, sure, fair enough," Erik blinked a few times as he switched mental gears. "The crime-fighting thing pretty much is my 'occupation' these days. The Interceptors have a... patron? I guess that's the word. I can't really get into specifics..." The young man gave Mara an awkward, apologetic look, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand. "Don't take it personally," Ellie sighed, a little exasperated. "This is actually the kinder, gentler, less rabidly paranoid Erik." "It's true, I'm making a real effort," her brother confirmed, moving his hand to place his finger melodramatically atop his heart. "As for hobbies, besides training, obviously..." He trailed off for a moment, frowning slightly. "You can see why we're not terribly judgmental on the subject of mental health," Gina drawled, giving her son a wry shake of her head. "Hey, I do other stuff!" Erik protested. "Like... well, I do a bit of cooking," he countered, indicating the serving plate of tamales.
  14. "Buddy, seriously, I will slap you," Jack was telling his passenger irritably as his arcing swing brought them both down to the ground near the other heroes. "So shut up a minute, alright? Hey Bones, Padre. Actually, yeah, now that you mention it, guy looks like he skipped the free juice and cookies after donating blood." Keeping a hand on the mumbling man's collar to keep him from stumbling off again, the swashbuckler took a look at the other lovesick victims. "Gotta theory?"
  15. "Just water would be lovely," Wail replied, a little bemused at the Freedom Leaguer's genial approach. He hadn't expected to carry out the interrogation in what appeared to be a remote cottage getaway, nor had he prepared for his hostess's pleasant hospitality, but he wasn't complaining. Things had obviously changed quite a bit over the years, and the city's heroes were clearly much more a community than ever before. "Where shall I set our friend down?"
  16. "I... but, she-- nobody can... what?!" Jack managed in a strained voice as he picked himself up off the floor and examined the slash across his chest. Placing a palm on his bandanna covered forehead, he shook his head. "Sorry, I just... Fencing isn't just my thing, it's literally what I was born to do," the swordsman explained, still a little dazed. "My ancestors took the long, hard but ultimately probably more fun approach to genetic engineering. She..." Jack moved his hand from his forehead to rub his chin slowly, something akin to a grin ghosting over his features despite everything. "She's really, really good."
  17. Trevor placed on hand atop Eve's as he rose from his crouch, giving Singularity a faint, reassuring smile and signing with his other hand, >>Done.<< He jogged after Mark, being careful to ensure that everyone in their party remained within the sphere of his gauntlet's influence. "Pathos won't be able to find us remotely," he clarified for the others' benefit, "but she has our last location." The young man assumed that reiterating the importance of haste would be redundant.
  18. At Mara's offhand revelation, Erik abruptly halted his amused bickering, the wry grin slipping from his face as his jaw set in a way that made his angular features look suddenly much more severe. His mouth was already opening to say something when a subtle, placating gesture from his sister quieted him, Ellie's own expression tightening slightly while sadness pulled at the corners of her eyes. Gina's reaction was slower, the change in her manner taking effect gradually and with a markedly greater degree of self-control, but anger and concern played over her face just as certainly. For all their jovial manner, the Espadas family were ultimately very serious people. "Well," Erik began again after a few awkward beats of silence, "I'm always saying folks need to put in the time to learn to do something properly. Lotta tech just makes things too easy that way."
  19. "There's nothing wrong with the name," Ellie noted, as much assuring Mara as glaring at her brother. "This coming from the guy who works out the 'The Brownstone'." "Hey, I wanted to call the base the Underground!" Erik protested around a mouthful of tamale, raising his hands in his defense. His sister smirked knowingly. "Because it's under the ground?" "Well, I... yeah, but--" "That's a very responsible attitude to take," Gina commented to their guest as the siblings argued, nodding appreciatively. "Working out the bugs instead of trying to cash in quick."
  20. There was a tremendous amount of extremely disturbing input assaulting Jack's senses as he released his grappling line and somersaulted through the air toward the melee, ripping at his awareness and pushing him to the very edge of his endurance. Fortunately, if there was one thing the fencer was very good at narrowing his focus to, it was putting the business end of a sharp implement into something he really did not like. "Pfft, you think I can't tell the difference between hellfire and your nasty Terminus juice?" he crowed mockingly as his acrobatics brought him directly down on the horrible thing, crackling electrical rapier first. "Tell you what, have a trip to the real deal on me!" The spire of energy ripped into shadowy form, tearing down its length as the swashbuckler balanced himself nimbly on the row of seats behind it. "And tell 'em Jackie B said hi! Harrier, I sure hope that's you in there!"
  21. Jack of all Blades Move Action: Auto-DC 31 Taunt vs. Terminus Entity w/ Skill Mastery Standard Action: Energy Sword, Power Attack 5. 1d20+15 Pfft. Should still hit, though. That's a DC 22 Fort Save vs. Drain Toughness and a DC 30 Toughness Save vs. Damage.
  22. "Gotta learn that magic costume change thing..." Erik sighed as he ran into the empty alleyway and pulled a royal blue greatcoat from his bag with one smooth motion. Soon, the lithe form of Jack of all Blades was swinging into the air on his grappling line. While the buildings in this part of town weren't as tall, the acrobat's graceful, twisting movements quickly built up his momentum, sending him rocketing over the bus in a blur as he scooped up the man attempting to balance atop it. "Look, I know the public transit fees are crazy, but you're just gonna have to pay the fare like everybody else!"
  23. "If you're providing the light," Wail began, stepping forward, an imposing form as be began to inhale deeply, "then I'll provide the NOISE!" The word bled into pure, unintelligible sound as the air between the aging hero and the reeling ninja roiled with visible vibration. The column of sonic force slammed into Haru like a wrecking ball, sending him flying backward but continuing to pound against him unabated until Wail finally relented, adjusting his sunglasses with a dismissive snort.
  24. Wail Standard Action: Sonic Wail, All-Out Attack 5, Power Attack 5 is 1d20+7. Invisible Castle is down, so... That's a 21 total, for a DC 37 Toughness Save (and as much Knockback as you feel is dramatically appropriate, troll.)
  25. "Good plan!" Jill called over to Ironclad as she skidded away from the momentarily stunned criminal. "But since we're doing a number on the hospital and these guys are only after your new toys, might I suggest a small change?" With a gesture, the acrobatic medic wrapped the ultrasound devices in another bubble of shimmering energy and sprinted for the hole in the wall, the encapsulated medical equipment bobbing after her in the air. Hitting the ragged edge of the floor, she lept into the sky to land atop the armored scientist, wrapping her arms around her neck. "Run awaaay!"
