A series of nimble acrobatics brought Jack up over Curl-bee's side quickly and onto the great insect's back, a honed sense of balance allowing his to remain standing these even as the bees took flight, affording him a better view. Flexing his knees to maintain his precarious perch, the fencer craned his neck to take in the massive hive and its outlying substructures, reflecting that they were not entirely dissimilar to a human city. Mostly, however, he simply bared his teeth in fierce enjoyment as the wind swept back his greatcoat and the tails of his bandanna mask.

Jill moved towards the door, heading for the elevators. "Medical stuff is on the eleventh floor," she noted absently, clearing her throat lightly and pointedly avoiding anyone's eyes when she remembered that that wasn't generally held knowledge. "Wait, you altered your genetic code?" Jack asked Jeni, letting his sister off the hook for the time being. "Like, on purpose?" "We altered our genetic code, too, hermano," the younger sibling pointed out, quick to change the subject. "With magic, even." The swashbuckler spread his hands in a broad shrug. "Well, sure. But not on purpose." "I don't think that actually makes it better..."
-
Jack mirrored the shrug, gesturing helplessly to Beeatriz. Fixing it so that the male bees' parts stayed attached was a pretty hard act to follow, the swashbuckler had to admit. "Well, hey," he called up to the enormous insects, changing the topic, "What's a guy gotta do to get a tour around here, huh? Can't tell the other squishy bipeds I went all the way to Beedom City and just looked at the hive from the outside, right?"

Midnight took stock of the forces arrayed against them as his counterpart and both Wanders lept into the fray. The fearsome mercenary in the bronze mask went down quickly under the ferocious offense, leaving only the pair of masterminds and their bilateral ally. While Overshadow had dire plans for the world indeed, the black clad youth knew that Negator had designs to destroy entire universes, making him the priority. Silently, Midnight retrieved a trio of perfectly balanced throwing discs from his sleeve, each the size of his palm. A single whipping throw sent each of them hurtling without err into the villain's red and black half. The projectiles exploded on impact, starting a chain reaction of mutual destruction as matter and anti-matter violently met!

Relaxing herself, Ellie shuffled accommodatingly closer of the couch, enjoying the moment without trying to plan several steps ahead for once. "J'aime ceci, aussi," she managed to respond a little haltingly as she fumbled over pronunciation, smiling regardless of the difficulty. Turning her attention back to the lesson, she skeptically repeated, "Nous buvons? Ce n'est pas 'nous boisons'?" Clearly it was going to take a little longer to get the hang of the language but, letting her hand rest loosely in Mara's, she didn't particularly mind.

"Oh, I'm pretty sure I know what you meant," Ellie teased, looking pleased with herself. The expression faltered after a moment, turning pensive and selfconscious. "So... would I be the worst girlfriend ever if I wanted to just, y'know... do this for tonight?" She watched Mara's face intently for her reaction, clearly having trouble phrasing her thoughts. "I mean, I do want to, I..." With a sigh, she rand a hand lightly over her face. "This has just been a lot of big stuff really fast, and I want to make sure to savour it... and not screw it up."

Reaching up to hold his bandanna mask and inconspicuous wig in place against the sudden gust, Jack watched the gigantic good times dance with competing feelings of stunned bemusement and mirth. "That's, uh, that's definitely a bonus, Curl, but Trix is right. You don't owe that guy a thing," he insisted, his expression sober. "Freedom - and beedom - means making your own decisions and making responsibility for them." He wasn't really sure how a genetically-mandated monarchy fit into that, but the sentiment remained true.

Still not my type, Midnight mused appreciatively with a feral smirk behind his featureless mask as he surged forward while Totentanz was distracted by the alternate Wander's assault, but maybe the dork in the hat isn't entirely crazy after all. Eyes blazed luminescent crimson behind his goggles as he brought his twin tonfas down with force that would have shattered a lesser material, the lingering effects of his grandfather's experimental work on super soldier serums during the war coursing through his veins. "Contract terminated." The feared paragon mercenary went down with a satisfying impact.

Paragons!Midnight Free Action: Gadgets! (In this case standing in for the super soldier powerset.) Enhanced Strength 8 (8PP) Enhanced Constitution 6 (6PP) Move Action: Demoralize vs Totentanz. (1d20+15=21) Standard Action: Power Attack 5 vs Totentanz. (1d20+10=30) So that's 15 + 8 Strength + 3 'Tonfas' + 2 Sneak Attack +5 Power Attack + 5 Crit = DC38. Not too shabby! Paragons!Wander is up!

"Heh, señorita, you just landed in the world capital for super-folks," Jack grinned broadly, emphasizing his bold claim with a dramatic flourish that started at his wrist and expanded to incorporate his entire arm. "Granted, it's a bit of a shame you had to start by meeting the very best like this," he continued rubbing his knuckles confidently on the front of his great coat, "but there are plenty of heroes in Freedom who'll very nearly live up to your irrevocably raised expectations! Off to one side, Jill made a gagging sound and rolled her eyes skyward.

Around the third or forth time embrasser came up in the rotation of improvised flash cards, Ellie gave Mara an amused look. "I seem to be detecting an underlying motive behind this particular lesson plan," the student drawled, sitting up again and draping her free arm over her instructor's shoulders. "Let's see if I've go this, then. J'embrasse..." Illustrating the point, she kissed Mara briefly before retreating just far enough to continue, "Tu embrasses..." Interspersing each conjugation with a short, soft kiss, she remained close enough for her breath to tickle the polyglot's cheeks as she spoke. "Elle embrasse... Nous embrassons... Elles embrassent..."

It took Jack a couple beats to parse Curl-bee's rapid dialogue, but once he did he gave the massive bee a reassuring shrug. "I hear ya, man, but Gai's got a point. Those things are a pain to maintain." The swordsman also wasn't sure if bees could actually swim, but that seeming impolite to bring up. Tossing a subtle, knowing look Beeatriz way, he noted, "And baby bees are a big responsibility, brother. You can't go all swinging bachelor pad if you're gonna set a good example, amirite?"
-
Jack visibly relaxed at Beeatriz' greeting, shoulders loosening as he grinned up at the bees. "Hey, the pre-team-up misunderstanding fight is just business as usual between super-folk, relative squishiness aside," he laughed good-naturedly. Maybe it simply came from hanging out with artificial intelligences and zombies and dimensional travelers and assorted aliens, but the swashbuckler had a hard time treating anything that could carry a conversation differently than he would a human. "I'm just glad things worked out so well. Got your giant hive, got your giant flowers, pretty swank."
-
"Mm, love the Lite-Brite eyes," Ellie murmured happily, resting her head back on Mara's shoulder but turning her attention to the television screen, brow furrowing slightly in concentration. "Ah... " she decided after a moment, doing her best to mimic the other girl's pronunciation. Though she'd picked up a thing or two already, her French was still heavily accented and halting, as she racked her memory for each word.

"Heeey, chica," Jack greeted with a wave, somewhat belatedly rethinking his rather limited plan. Of course, not taking the time to think things through was what had started the fight with the giant dragon bees back home in the first place. "Figured I ought to check in, see how you guys were settling in, since I got you sent out here and all." The fencer gestured to the massive hive. "Looking pretty good, I gotta say."

If it's to be at the brownstone, there's no reason for Ellie not to be there, really! Regardless, it's not hard to imagine Lynn dragging her along wherever it is.

Returning the light kiss, Ellie grinned back at Mara. "Eloquent." Biting her lower lip to contain the expression, she brushed a few loose bangs back behind her ear. "I'm actually not usually, um... well, I mostly like my personal bubble," the dark haired girl admitted with a slight, wry flush as she realized her companion hadn't seen much evidence of that. "But-you-aren't-I-don't-mwah," she imitated, punctuating the thought with another quick peck. "Speaking of eloquent, though," she continued, "you're already speaking full sentences en Español and I still only know like a dozen words en Français."

"Uh, wow," Jack commented, a little taken aback. "Big lady." Watching the pair of enormous bees fly toward them, the energy manipulator was again struck by their sheer visual absurdity, followed quickly by the memory of the significant thrashing they'd managed to deliver in his previous altercation with them. "So... they're not, y'know... upset with me or anything, right?" he asked Stesha innocently.
-
"Efficient, but subject to restraints," Trevor pointed out, crossing his arms but leaving one hand free atop an elbow to gesture mildly. "Training could lets take on an Omegadrone hand to hand. Maybe two, more. A squad? An invasion force?" He shrugged his shoulders, belying the shared knowledge that, if not for extraordinary circumstances, they could very well be meeting at Mark's funeral rather than the Arborealair. "Options. Still. Only a side project."

Letting her eyes drift slowly closed and her thoughts drift into ethereal feelings of warm and close and soft. Cozy dozing inevitably gave rise to a loud yawn, however, the drawn out sound dissolving into laughter. "Ah, Marbar! Stop being so comfy," the sidekick mock scolded, nuzzling into the inventor's neck briefly before sitting up just enough to look her in the face. "I think I could get used to this pretty quickly."

At Jeni's grim description of her foes' fate, Jack paused and turned to Miss Americana. "Well, I like her! She seems fun." Devastating near death experience or not, the transformed woman didn't seem particularly apt to break down any time soon. "Kid, I'm pretty sure I could make a sword out of you," the swashbuckler drawled to the patriotic paragon's partner, giving Sharl a confident grin and a broad wink. "So try not to call me a Pokeman too often, huh? Wait, if that still a thing? Am I dating myself?" he asked his sister. "No, being old is what's dating you," Jill responded blithely before giving Changeling a brief nod. "Don't worry about it, that actually happens a lot."
