  1. Trevor felt a brief stab of guilt at that. "We'll save her," he promised the distressed corpse quietly, "One way or another." He turned to Dead Head and added flatly, "Tell him to hole up inside. Don't touch anything." Adjusting his grip on the Night Cycle's handlebars, he revved the nearly silent engine. "Wasted enough time already."
  2. "Hnn," Trevor grunted noncommittally. "Atomic motorcycle..." As much as the concept rankled his personal aesthetic sensibilities, he had to admire the innovation and technical prowess involved. Rounding up a few applicable tools, he moved over the the vehicle's chassis and indicated silently that he was ready to help with the instillation. "Same technology in the airship?"
  3. "Right." The swashbuckler cracked his neck loudly and set himself in an anchored stance. "Been saving this one." Taking a deep breath, Jack placed the fingers of one hand lightly against his expanded chest and stretched the other arm out grandly in an exaggerated version of an operatic pose before belting out: "I'm... squishin' up my baby bumble bee Won't my Mommy be so proud of me I'm squishin' up my baby bumble bee - EW! What a mess!"
  4. Rolling to his feet as Phalanx deposited him on the rooftop, Midnight's hands were already at his utility belt before he finished straightening. Priority is the civilians. Pheromones are already disseminated, physical restraint on that scale's unworkable, he considered calmly as he ran through his options at lightning speed. Producing the same device he'd used to broadcast the counter signal which had prevented Havok's robots from self-destructing in the lab, the shadowy hero pulled out a slender transmission booster and deftly slotted the modular devices together. Can't disarm the gun, disarm the trigger. Sliding the pair of controls to their very limits, Midnight pointed the resulting matte black rod of circuitry at the radio tower and let loose a powerful jamming signal, effectively whiting out the airwaves in the vicinity.
  5. "I dunno, I figured they stuck him in a loony bin somewhere," Jack replied as he hopped down from the deceptively lean teenager's shoulder, brushing himself off in an attempt to reclaim some shred of dignity. "Turning Freedom Hall into a bee hive isn't so much a crime as a desperate cry for help, y'know?" As the bees quickly closed the distance between them and the cornfield, the fencer clucked his tongue in annoyance. "...you're going to have to throw me at them again, aren't you?"
  6. Bouncing up and down as Wander made one prodigious leap after another, Jack scoffed at the pursuing insects. "Yeah, well, I hear your queen prefers army ants!" He turned back to Erin. "Too mean? I'm really not clear whether we're talking about their girlfriend or mom or what at this point." Bellowing back to the bees, he shook his fist emphatically. "And like you'd even know what to do with a flower if you found one!" Jack shrugged as best he could from his awkward position. "The sooner we get back to punching and stabbing the better; I'm rapidly beginning to question the life choices that led me here."
  7. Jack grunted at the sudden teenager-propelled acceleration as he incredulously observed the gargantuan bees in hot pursuit over Wander's shoulder. "...I'm being carried by a schoolgirl while fleeing giant, fire-breathing, talking bees. Dios. Where did it all go wrong?" he muttered to himself. Regardless, he continued to shout at the irritable insects. "Head the size of a taxi, and the best you can come up with is 'you're stupid'? Whatsamatter, I getting under your exoskeleton? Are you like giant bee nerds, can't get a date with the popular flowers?"
  8. "Pick me up and...?" Jack slumped slightly, his royal blue greatcoat resting suddenly heavily on his shoulders as he sighed. "Well, dignity is overrated anyway. Let's do it up, kid. Just be ready to get us outta here." Moving to the edge of the rooftop, the swashbuckler took a deep breath and cupped his hands around his mouth. "Hey, Larry, Moe and Curl-bee! They kick you outta the hive 'cause you're so ugly, so fat, so stupid or some combination of the three? 'Cause I know I'd hate to have multifaceted eyes and have to look at that in the mirror every morning!"
  9. Trevor blinked slowly behind his sunglasses. He'd found that, having adjusted to the wider spectrum of light his eyes were now able to receive, his mutating physiology was actually able to cope with sudden burst of light better than before, something he was grateful for as he viewed the explosive display. Ex-supervillainess, he reminded himself. Outwardly, the dark haired youth leaned forward to examine the weapon system. "Running too hot," he agreed. "Try splitting into several smaller units? Shorter cycles, easier to maintain. Scalable fire-linking for added precision. Make them modular, potential hand-held option or emergency power source." Although his tone remained almost preternaturally calm, his tempo began to gradually increase, and he gestured with one hand to illustrate his suggestions while rummaging around for a pencil and paper with the other.
  10. Jack took a moment to regain his balance as the pair landed heavily of the rooftop. "Okay, retrospect, yeah, stabbing the thing carrying you? Not a great plan." He brushed some errant bits of bumblebee fluff from his pants without a word before adding in a more serious tone, "Thanks for the save there, ki- uh, Wonder, right?" The fencer glanced over the side of the building. "Even I'd have trouble pulling off the 2-D look. Owe you one." Turning his gaze upward he watched as the massive bees regrouped. "So. Giant bees. That breath fire. That's a thing now."
  11. Midnight's ominously glowing red eyes narrowed slightly as he grimaced beneath his featureless mask. Oh, there is no way Gramps... well... I mean, someone like Bombshell, okay, but... ew. Observing the scuttling horrors flatly, he ignored Medea's question and grated, "Air and darkness. Apropos." Inwardly, however, he cringed. Summoning demons is one thing, but lady, you're creeping me out.
  12. So messed up. Sense Motive vs. DC 30. (1d20+15=18) Gonna claim that HP for his Legacy complication and... ReRoll Sense Motive vs. DC 30. (1d20.minroll(11)+15=26) Sonova... My hate is a living, roiling thing.
  13. The remaining bee immediately dove through the air, executing the aerial maneuvers with astounding speed, given its bulk, and caught it's falling comrade, gently hovering back up to the remaining combatants. The pesky human with the electrical rapier was sent sprawling though the air to find his own means of arresting his fall. Above, Wander's dance partner recovered from the head shot just enough to charge recklessly forward, attempting to slam into the teen and a considerable portion of the rooftop she was standing upon.
  14. Jack caught sight of Wander's upward trajectory just as she caught her opponent across the head with a solid blow that had the bee reeling backward through the air. "You can fly?" he shouted over to her incredulously, raking his balde back and forth across his mount as he continued to dodge angry limbs, probing frantically for something resembling a weak point and cursing his lack of attentiveness in high school science. Okay, bugs. It's... spiders that aren't actually insects, right? Or am I thinking of scorpions? Well, when if doubt, stab everything... Logic notwithstanding, the plan seemed to work, and the semi-sized beast shuddered seizing up. The swordsman had only a split second to congratulate himself before the bee's wings stopped vibrating, and the pair of them began to plummet to the street below. "Aw, neeerrrtzzz...!"
  15. Toughness Save vs. DC 35. (1d20+18=32) That's a bruise! Jack of all Blades Move Action: DC 33 Feint. Bee can't pass that, so... Standard Action: Energy Sword Flurry Power Attack 5. (1d20+13=31) Two ranks of Improved Critical says that's +5 to the DC, plus another +6 from Autofire for DC 39! Toughness Save vs. DC 39. (1d20+16=32) That's a third bruise and a stun, which means that bee is now falling out of the air! ...with Jack on top of it. Whoops. On the bees' turn, GDB 1 will start to fall, and GDB 3 will spend it's turn diving and catching it's buddy bee. I'm also going to say Jack's falling off in the meantime; he'll use his grapple on his next turn. Giant Dragon Bee #2 Power Attack 5, All-Out Attack 5. (1d20+14=30) That's DC 34 for Erin. Wander - Uninjured - 2HP Jack - Bruised x1 - 4HP GDB 1 - Bruised x3, Stunned GDB 2 - Bruised x1 GDB 3 - Uninjured
  16. "Pfft, 'make it around'. You still don't really get me sometimes, huh?" Jack smirked into the comlink. He still didn't have any intention of causing a scene or starting a fight, but the day Jack of all Blades couldn't charm information out of a young woman was the day he hung up his ridiculously flattering pants for good. Taking advantage of the gap between the apartments, the swashbuckler kicked from on wall to the other, gaining enough height to latch onto a railing and gracefully vault himself up and over to land lightly next to the young woman on the phone is a flourish of royal blue and crimson. Spreading his greatcoat backward as he bowed low, he offered her a roguish grin. "Que tal, guapa?"

  18. Midnight didn't even bother to give Medea a condescending glare. "Strike you as the compromising type?" he asked rhetorically in a flat, filtered tone. Stygian gas crept from the seems of his costume to waft about his shadowy form, so that when he drew his matte black escrima sticks he seemed to be pulling them from the cloud itself. "Want to keep hide intact for another twenty seconds? Be useful."
  19. Bah, 5PP is, shockingly, not enough to do much against a version of the Centurion. Auto-30 Intimidate to convince Medea it's in her best interests to actually help, at least until her sudden but inevitable betrayal.
  20. The massive bee Wander perched atop made a plaintive, high pitched buzz, twitching its antennae beneath the superpowered teen's grip. Abruptly, the surprisingly nimble insect spun into a barrel roll, leveraging it's greater bulk to send Erin tumbling from it's back into the city's skyline. Meanwhile, Jack of all Blades twisted and leaped over twelve angry legs as both the bee he was perched atop and it's peer attempted to similarly dislodge the swashbuckler, who was unpleasantly reminded of human's swatting at regular sized pests. By the barest of margins, he avoided the bludgeoning limbs.
  21. Giant Dragon Bee #1 Initiate Grapple. (1d10+14=17) FAIL. Giant Dragon Bee #2 Pretty sure their Grapple is 14 Melee + 16 Growth + 14 Melee = ...+44? Seriously? Yeesh. Opposed Grapple Check to Escape. (1d20+44=61) Yeeeaaah... Um, I guess I'm say it knocks Erin off, so she's in a freefall starting on her turn? Giant Dragon Bee #3 All-Out Attack 5. (1d20+19=27) Just misses Jack. Wander is up! Well, I guess she's increasingly down, but you get the idea.

  24. "Gah, gerroff!" Jack managed as he fended off the assault of the second bee. A sudden twinge from his metamagi senses, however, caused him to turn his head just in time to see Wander bathed in brilliant flame. "Kid!" the swashbuckler bellowed, preparing to try against all hope to draw the heat away from the rooftop with his meager powers of energy manipulation. Instead, he watched as the girl leaped unscathed from the blaze and began wrestling with the gargantuan creature. "...huh. Her, I like." Taking his cue from the high schooler, he leveraged off of the sword buried in the first bee's side and vaulted himself up onto its back. "Seriously, pal, how does something like you even come to bee?" he asked the creature rhetorically before delivering a flurry of slashes across it's fuzzy surface.
  25. Jack of all Blades Move Action: Skill Mastery Acrobatics to get on top of the Giant Dragon Bee. Standard Action: Energy Blade Flurry, Power Attack 5. (1d20+13=14) ... HP Re-Roll. (1d20.minroll(11) + 13=30) That's DC 15 + 8 + 5 Power Attack + 6 Autofire = 34 Toughness Save vs. DC 34 (1d20+17=32) Sheeh. That's a second bruise, anyway.
