Unlike Erin's truck, there was little to announce the arrival of the Night Cycle until it was actually pulling into the parking lot, its engine tweaked to perfection by the slim youth riding it for near silent performance. Sliding to a smooth stop, Trevor swung himself off of the bike with fluid grace, setting his helmet down atop it and unfastening his matte black jacket in the summer heat. Noting Erin inside the parlour, he nodded curtly to James. "You've found Lucas?" he hazarded, getting right to the point of the other young man's vague note.

Alright, Jack can't beat 44 even on a natural 20, so the Acro Bluff goes through, and he's flat-footed. All told, that puts him at 13 Defense and -1 Toughness. Toughness Save vs. DC20. (1d20-1=5) Toughness Save vs. DC20 reroll. (1d20.minroll(11)-1=18) Toughness Save vs. DC20. (1d20-2=0) And that's all she wrote!

"Alright, now you're just saying words," Jack admonished just before Mona's open handed blow. From an average opponent, the attack would have been easily powered through, but the fencer had underestimated just how much to the statuesque woman's brobdingnagian strength came from her massive frame. Knocked back a few feet, he grinned through a wince even as he struggled to regain his footing. "Dunno, Mo', I give myself a lotta credit. I'm pretty fantastic."

Love it when she talks tactically, Trevor mused, dryly deadpanned even in his own thoughts as they soared through the air. At the apex of the prodigious leap, he released a fresh cloud of midnight mist, the inky gas creating an expanding trail behind them like a dark comet streaking to the crash into the canopy platforms. A surge of energy pushed the aches and pains of his injuries to the corners of his mind, and he dimly recognized a primal desire to acquit himself well in front of Erin after the momentary show of all too human frailty. On a more conscious level, he was too pragmatic to be bothered, but so long as that nagging instinct was present, he could use it as fuel.

Perched atop one of the post-modern bracing beams which ran from part way up Freedom Hall's walls to its ceiling, the second shadowy hero to don the featureless, black mask of Midnight watched the proceedings below from the shadows. Though the elder Hunter could have likely made it to the ceremony himself despite his advanced years, there were still those in attendance who were unaware of his secret identity and, with his grandson taking up the mantle, that information was once again to be safeguarded. Even so, it seemed only proper that fedora wearing vigilante be in attendance in one iteration or another, whether or not the other guests were ever aware of his presence.
-
Midnight snorted, his gas mask filter turning it into a harsh, grating noise. "Not likely." Righting himself, he brushed some of the dirt of the forest floor off of his costume and cracked his neck once before stepping forward to place an arm firmly around Erin's waist. "Just needed to catch my breath." It was mostly true; although the blasts had knocked the wind out of him and he'd be feeling his injuries the next morning, he was more than ready to reenter the fight. More importantly, there wasn't a chance on whatever the Mai'yoa's world was called that he was going to let Wander leave without backup. Looking back toward the canopy, he narrowed his eyes. "Let's go."

"Like I said," Trevor managed in response, a wet thickness in his filtered voice, "veritable goddess." Bracing himself against the tree trunk, the lanky youth pulled the bottom of his featureless mask up over his chin and spat a mouthful of viscous liquid onto the ground. The slick glob of blood was the oddly dark red of black cherries and a thin thread of stygian smoke rose from it, curling into the air. The mist dribbling from the corner of Trevor's mouth was cut off as he replaced his mask over a wince. "Feline. Pixie," he said suddenly. "Shouldn't have sent them off... Have to get back, protect others."

A wry smirk slipped onto Jack's face as Lynn described her adventure through time in nonchalant terms. It said something specific about the group gathered in the back yard that something so outlandish could be put into casual perspective. "Point," he agreed with Bill softly before adding more loudly, "Yeah, seriously, it's not like they can not follow his last wishes just 'cause. We'll get it sorted." "Yeah, shockingly, hanging out with superheroes is basically the most awesome thing ever," Jill replied to Stesha dryly. "I can never get over how chill you guys are about all this stuff. 'Oh, yeah, I can totes throw stuff into the sun. Saves me from keeping track of garage pickup days, which is nice'," the coltish teen mimicked, holding her hands with the palms out and shaking them back and forth comically.

[Interceptors] Zombie Powder is a Helluva Drug [IC]
Gizmo replied to Dr Archeville's topic in West End
Jack paced back and forth across the area where the footprints suddenly vanished, idly cracking his knuckles as he scoured the ground for some sign of the undead horde in vain. "Man, how do you loose a mob of zombie 'bangers?" he groused, resigning himself and jogging back over the building where Colt was examining the remains of a firefight Grim had found. "Guys, we gotta try the other address; if they're not already wiped out, they're next on the list." The disappearing tracks suggested to the fencer that the shambling horror's had some sort of support and, presumably, leadership. -
Focused on the fight in front of him, Midnight was caught off guard by the alien artillery. Just barely bracing himself against the first explosion, the tall youth had just enough time to curse his lack of awareness before the second detonation a split second later bowled him off of his feet. Ears ringing and shoulder aching from a sloppy impact, Trevor struggled to regain his senses and lift himself to his feet as an unpleasant combination of sharp copper and gritty soot filled his mouth.

Jaci pulled a face as Marionette graced the mind controlled speedster with a long kiss. "That's just six kindsa creepy," she muttered to herself, picking up a convenient sedan by its rear bumper in one massive hand and spinning around to hurl it like a discus at Dynamo's head with a bellow. "HrrrAAH!" Once again, the white clad hero side stepped the attack despite his daze, causing the giantess to place a hand on either side of her head in frustration. "Oh, that is it!"

"Yeah, yeah, 'rue the day,' et cetera, et cetera," Jack drawled wit a roll of his eyes as he charged past the lead sorcerer. "You're the very scariest lizard wizard, yes you'm is!" Sliding along the museum's slick floor, he caught one of the other magic users with a glancing blow as he resituated himself into the middle of the battle. Lightning goes right through him, huh? Tricky...

Sorry, yeah, I did know that, I just kinda had a brain kerfuffle when I was writing the IC post. Reflex Save vs. DC 19 x2. (1d20+5=15, 1d20+5=18) Cruuud. Toughness Save vs. DC 24 (1d20+9=15) Cruuud. Toughness Save vs. DC 24 reroll. (1d20.minroll(11)+9=25) I think he's got one HP left now. Toughness Save vs. DC 24. (1d20+9=19) Cruuud. Bruised and Stunned. I'm actually not going to clear the stun with the remaining HP, since it's probably more dramatic to remind Erin that Trevor's worryingly squishy (seriously gotta work on those saves).

It might have only been a trick of the Sanctum's light, but Midnight's ruby lenses seemed to soften subtly in relief for a moment ans he reached down to give Erin a hand to her feet. "Nothing like a woman who can take as good as she gives," he murmured softly, his peculiar deadpan managing to convey itself through the filter of his mask. "Can't let them access the Zone," he said more loudly. Unlike Alex, he could imagine plenty of uses the Crime League might have for a conduit to the extradimensional void, and none of them were remotely acceptable.
-
Are we in the initiative order, then?
-
"Fear..." Trevor said contemplatively, "is a delicate proposition. A little keeps you alert, ready. A little more and people get angry, unpredictable, lash out." The serious young man nodded in deference to Alex's difficulties with the public perception of those granted abilities by Terminus radiation. Though his own mutation was of, so far as he knew, a different source, he could unfortunately relate. "A little more than that, though, and opponents hesitate, surrender. Avoid a fight, and nobody has to get hurt on either side. Besides," he added, his voice unconsciously dropping a semitone, "those who would terrorize the innocent, make them afraid to go out at night... Should know how it feels."

"You two are like the most obnoxious couple ever," Jack of all Blades groused as he flipped through the air and over Knievel's attack. "Seriously, just start wearing matching outfits and get it over with." Firing his grapple at the ceiling once more, the swashbuckler soared through the air just behind Arrowhawk's projectile. "I'm normally an 'all love is good love' kinda guy, too," he continued as he somersaulted forward, "but, let's be honest, how ridiculously ugly would the kids be, amirite?" Jack's energy sword came down in a flurry of precise slashes across Knievel's torso.
-
Le sigh.
-
Jack of all Blades Move Action: Grapple up and over to get to Knievel. Standard Action: Energy Blade Flurry. (1d20+18=35) That's a DC 29 Toughness check with the Autofire.

There was that little 'erasing a room full of memories' thing, yes, Trevor considered, but chose to keep to himself. It was, after all, a family matter. Which isn't to say I won't be watching out for that. "That is..." he told Alex, "...good to hear. Not very good at..." Trailing off, Trevor gestured openly with his hands, unable to give an exact name to what he was feeling. "Studying to read a person and play off their innermost fears... not as transferable to open social interactions as one might hope."
-
Distracted by the Centurions' renewed attacks, Midnight had only a split second to spin himself away from Hiroshima Shadow's explosive exit before the radiation washed across the room. The thin lead lining in his costume offered only minimal protection against a blast of that magnitude, and as the black clad vigilante staggered back to his feet with a nauseous feeling deep in his gut, he mentally committed himself to a throughout medical examination as soon as he was able to get back to the Manor. Carbon particulates need work, he grimaced inwardly as he moved without thinking to check on Erin. "Fine," he responded flatly to Mark's inquiry.
-
Reflex Save vs. DC 23. (1d20+15=20) Well, that's ridiculous, so Jack'll just spend an HP to automatically make that save. Evasion! (Technically Evasion 2, but why press his luck with a Toughness save, amirite?)
-
Oh yeeeeah! Forgot about that. Alright, tell you what, same thing but he'll hit the uninjured 'Dark Magician' for the time being. S'alright?
-
Recovering quickly from the second leap, Midnight replaced his explosives in his belt in favour of emulating Wander's more direct approach. Twin escrima sticks made short work to the avian invader, which the lean youth was gratified to find had similar skeletal structure to birds on Earth. As quickly as their foes were going down, they were still too spread out. Withdrawing his grapple, Trevor switched the device to its snare mode in preparation.
