  1. Nothing fancy, just testing the waters, so Jack'll Feint at DC33 then make a Unarmed Defensive Attack 2. (1d20+10=15) Gah! Well, let me know if that ends up hitting or not. His Defense will be an even 30 this round, regardless.
  2. Flipping backwards over the last of the razor edged playing cards, Jack produced his grappling hook launcher from his great coat, firing at the scoreboard hanging above the rink. Before the swashbuckler had even touched back down on the ice, he was soaring back over the boards, foot balanced on the end of the swinging cable and icy rapier pointed at the offending jester. "Luck might run out, Jingles, but skill is forever!" he declared with a dashing grin, easily hiding the pain from the welt he could feel forming on his left shoulder where he'd hit the ice. Cartwheeling through the air, he renewed his assault on Wildcard, balancing on the tops of the folding chairs to achieve the high ground. "You heard the ladies: yea verily! And furthermore: forsooth! And: avast ye scurvy dogs!" Jack paused to make an exaggerated show of considering his last line. "Wait, no, I messed that up. Well, you get the point," he declared launching a fresh volley of devastating thrusts.
  3. FANTASTIC! Let's do it up all official-like, then: Jack of all Blades Free Action: Acrobatics 25 w/ Skill Mastery to 'Instant Up'. Move Action: Swinging w/ Speed 1 via Grapple Gun to make it back over the boards. Move Action: Feint 33 w/ Skill Master and 'Fast Talk' against Wildcard. Extra Effort: Surge for a Standard Action. Standard Action: Energy Sword Flurry, Power Attack 5. (1d20+13=25) Assuming the Feint works, that's DC 34. If he somehow rolls a natural 20, lemme know and I'll reroll the attack, I guess.
  4. Any chance there's a giant score board/jumbotron type thing in the middle of the ceiling he could use his grappling hook on?
  5. Trevor quickly shook the growing number of hands being extended to him, only having time for a quick nod and slight smile for each of his classmates. He was still turning about on his heel when Zoe's high-pitched shout caused him to tilt his head to one side in a largely suppressed wince, reduced to blinking a few times in rapid succession. After Alex's announcement, he joined the others in applause, though the laconic teen was somewhat less vocal in his approval.
  6. Let's all take a moment to imagine Uncle Ben as a drunken frat boy, shall we? Moving on, Jack should be able to get up from his prone position as a free action with a Skill Mastery Acrobatics check, but now that he's on the ice, how close is he to the various baddies?
  7. Yay being poor! Yeah, definitely popping the HP this time. If you can dodge a wrench...
  8. Hanging back a few paces to give the embracing roommates space enough, Trevor returned Alex's smile, though at several fewer watts. "Fantastic job with everything," he told their hostess, bending from the waist in the slightest suggestion of a bow. He accepted Mike's massive handshake, following the broad shouldered teen's gaze down to the ground and the vintage limousine. "Thanks. Wasn't sure if I'd have her running in time." Looking around the room, he recognized most of the faces, matching them with various bits of trivia and gossip he'd accumulated simply by knowing when to listen. There were few that he felt he legitimately knew, however, and he had to suppress a vague feeling of having intruded. He was glad to see Eve and James nearby, giving them a subtle nod in greeting.
  9. Following Erin out of the limo, Trevor gave the chauffeur a familiar nod before turning to look up at the skyscraper. "Impressive that she runs all this," he agreed softly. Trevor had opted to wear crimson tie that had been fashioned from the same fabric as his date's dress, a solitary spot of vibrant colour atop a black silk dress shirt. His suit, tailored exactingly to his lean form, was similarly dark, matching his ever present fedora. Somehow the young man's calm composure managed to prevent the look from coming across as ostentatious, and it seemed apropos to attend the event for young metahumans in his family colours, so to speak. He offered his arm to Erin, and the pair made their way inside. "Been looking forward to tonight," he admitted as the elevator carried them upward. The sentiment was apparently genuine, even if his stoic demeanor made any excitement difficult to perceive. The carefully neutral expression couldn't help but give way to a small smile any time he looked at the auburn haired young woman, however.
  10. Trevor touched his forehead with the fingers of one hand and snapped those on the other, his expression chagrined. --Silly me.-- Back at the dormitories, the dark haired youth led Eve to is room, opening the door to reveal multiple desks and most of the floorspace covered in mechanical parts, tools and glassware. Nimbly picking his way through the chaos while the diminutive gymnast waited in the doorway, he cleared space for one of the intact brewers and retrieved a carafe of water and a bag of whole bean before setting to work.
  11. As Archeville finished his explanation, the room's occupants gradually noticed the inky black cloud slowly spreading along the floor, hovering around ankle height. Turning to look at the mist's source, they found a dark clad figure stepping into view against a backdrop of light consuming gloom. "Can answer that," Midnight intoned, glowing red eyes narrowed to slits. "Prototype midnight mist pistol just stolen. Being investigated."
  12. Screw it, chair golem is too awesome to deny. Toughness Saves. (1d20+8=26, 1d20+8=20) Jack will blow one HP to remove the stun, and take the bruise. Down to 6HP.
  13. Actually, his Defense is back down to 28, since he attacked normally that round, but yeah, no dice. Lynn is up!
  14. "True," Jack agreed, nodding sagely. "Personally, I've always struggled with being too good looking. My cross to bear," the swordsman sighed with exaggerated regret, before dropping into a loose fighting stance, leading with his right foot and presenting Bombshell with a thinnest profile possible. Extending one hand, he beckoned her forward. "Ladies first, of course."
  15. Initiative. (1d20+9=16) Ha, not much better, but it'll work. Seeing as it'd be unbecoming of Jack to take the first swing, he's going to ready a Block at +12, his unarmed attack score. His Defense is 28.
  16. Actually, Shaen, how would you feel about Jack burning an HP to double his dodge bonus for a round and avoid the, uh, Chairman of the Board?
  17. "Ominous!" Jack of all Blades agreed, raising his eyebrows. Letting the fiery sword in his hand dissipate into the air, plunging the rooftop back into darkness punctuated only by the dim light from the street below, the fencer threw his arms up in the air for a languid stretch. "Weeeeell, I wouldn't want to cause an interdimensional paradox and explode the planet; it's where I keep all my stuff." Placing his hands on his hips, he turned back to the enigmatic figure. "But, since I can't just let you run around on your own all willy nilly, looks like you just lucked into some ruggedly handsome backup for the evening."
  18. He's mentioned some kind of fencing Baroness-expy, but we haven't really made it to that point in the thread yet. durf could tell you more, of course.
  19. Gonna have to switch some of Jack's specialization with swords to general melee bonus if he keeps up all this hand to hand business! Are we rolling Initiative?
  20. Well, it'd be nice to make a call back to whatever durf's got cooked up for Jack in SHADOWs Over Freedom, but obviously the timing on that might be tricky.
  21. Trevor stood silently for a long moment, still holding the door open. Gradually, tiny fumes of inky mist began to stream lazily through the back on his jacket, making the dark fabric look like it was evaporating slowly into the air. One side of his mouth turned upward while the rest opened slightly in an expression of content bemusement. "...hah," he managed aloud, before stepping into the dormitories and letting the door close behind him with a soft click.
  22. Jack of all Blades gave Arrowhawk a devil may care grin. "Those aren't lasers!" One hand produced a grapple pistol from the swashbuckler's royal blue great coat while the other reached towards the sizzling beams, pulling it from its path to land in a glowing ball atop his palm. Shifting like a living thing, it reformed into a glowing green rapier. "This is a laser!" Sprinting forward into the barrage of deadly light, he fired is grapple swinging directly down the corridor with a hearty laugh. The zip line pulled him across the distance in a flash, and at the apex of his arc he pushed the button that released the grapple, somersaulting through the air and between laser beams to land atop the mechanical guards' protective barrier. "Ha ha!" A thrust of his sword reduced the first cyborg's weapon to melted slag before continuing effortlessly through his armor plates. Vaulting over the disabled opponent, he made similarly short work of the remaining foes, verdant blade leaving smoking trenches with red hot edges in its wake. As the final guard went down, Jack hopped back up on the barrier, jauntily resting one boot atop the cyborg slumped over it. "Well, come on, you lot! The water's fine!"
  23. Trevor shrugged with slightly overstated nonchalance. "You know me; pretty wired on caffeine." The young man suspected he wouldn't be getting much sleep that night despite his efforts, though his coffee consumption had little to do with it. "Probably just work on The Machine a little bit. Reservoir sprung a leak last time I tested it, gotta clean it all out. Maybe work out a little." Stepping forward a pace, he pulled the door to the dormitory open for Erin. "Let you get some sleep, then."
  24. Alright, Jack's gonna use the Speed 1 in his grapple gun to swing into ACTION! clearing the 100'. Once he's over there, an Auto-20 Notice lets him know that these are cyborgs not full-on robots. Then he's gonna get his Takedown 2 on like Donkey Kong. 24 was enough to hit, so he'll take ten on a Power Attack 4 using his Corrosion Energy Blade. That's DC 20 on the Drain Toughness followed by a DC 27 Toughness save. If he takes out the first one, he can make a 5' step to the others.
  25. Midnight didn't bother to answer Arrowhawks question, he simply drew his clenched fist towards his body, then threw them outward along with a cascade of midnight mist pouring from every inch of his body. The roiling cloud of absolute darkness spread across the prison yard in moments, blanketing those on the ground in sense-depriving terror. From the inky void a voice called, raspy and as devoid of emotion as the grave itself, carrying past the sounds of the riot despite it's even inflection. "Ask yourself," it demanded coldly, "would you not feel safer in your cells?"
