  1. Midnight finally arrives at Claremont! The Clock Strikes Twelve IC The Clock Strikes Twelve OOC This also means he's now free for any other threads as well. For anyone wondering, I figure he looks something like this.
  2. Trevor Hunter, AKA Midnight II, finally arrives at Claremont Academy!
  3. With the rumble of a well tuned engine, a black motorcycle pulled up to Claremont Academy's main entrance. Of a noticeably older design, the bike's surfaces still gleamed thanks to studious maintenance. As it came to a stop, its rider, dressed in dark jeans and a protective jacket, swung a long leg over to dismount. Tossing his leather gloves into a saddlebag, he removed his helmet to reveal a young man with black hair a little too long to be well kempt and angular features that emphasized the lankiness of his frame. Clipping the helmet to a strap on the bike, he swung his dusty brown knapsack from his back to retrieve a beaten fedora, which he deftly flipped onto his head before taking stock of his surroundings. As it was the first day of spring break, Trevor Hunter assumed there wouldn't be too many people around, allowing him to move into his dormitory with a minimum of fanfare. The rest of his things would be arriving from his grandfather's manor later that day, but he'd decided to go on ahead to make sure all of his registration was in order and to take a look around. Although he'd been invited to attend Claremont weeks ago, it was not until now that the seventeen year old had gotten a chance to visit the campus. Hitching his pack over one shoulder, he dug a folded piece of paper out of his pocket and tried to follow the directions on it to the main office.
  4. As shimmering blue light filled the bridge's panoramic screens, Myshel released the controls and unbuckled herself from her seat before turning to her new allies. "We are bearingheaded toward where we thinkfound Krak-En's latest base. It will take roughguess a megacycle." The pilots antennae drooped slightly. "Is not very good wormhole," she admitted. "Still, gives me timechance to show you the Flarerider's controls." Jack followed her lead and unbuckled himself. Despite the lightshow outside, it felt as though the vessel wasn't moving at all. "Well, I guess I'd like to find out what all of these readouts mean," he decided, pointing to the information overlain and streaming across the panoramic screen. He turned to the other Earth heroes. "What about you guys?"
  5. Alright, moving some stuff around on Jack. First I'll put his 6 unspent PP into his energy sword power to turn it into this: Now I'll drop his 8 ranks of Sense Motive to free up 2 more PP. I'll spend 1 pp to give him the "Agile Climber" feat, then drop 3 ranks for Climb (I'm going somewhere with this), which keeps his Climb bonus at +10. I'll drop two of the skill ranks into Bluff to bring it up to caps, for a +23 bonus, and put the third in Stealth, for +16. The final 1 PP goes to give him "Challenge (Fast Feint)". Now drop his Tainted complication and give him this one: DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN Quick little thing for Midnight II, as well. Please replace his Description with this: DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN
  6. Jack needs another shot at Knievel. The scintillating swordsman's learned some new tricks since his debut, and he's not gonna fall for that bloody laser whip this time!

Hmm... put Midnight down for the brawling one. He's a bright kid and I plan to build up his detective skills eventually, but he wouldn't be making very many checks as it stands. I want to get in some combat practice with him, anyway, since I'm so used to Jack's style at this point.
  8. Jack poked the Zombie Power gingerly with the tip of his shimmering blade. "Holy snap, you guys, this is magic crack!" He turned to the others, gesturing emphatically with his free hand. "I mean, they're drugs... which are magic. It's all squicked with necro-juice. This is zombie blow." He paused, noting Colt and Grim's reactions. "C'mon, I'm not the only one who thinks that's just a little bit hilarious, right?"

I think either of those would be a good fit for Midnight! His style's pretty low on collateral damage, and the latter would give an in-game excuse for improving his detective skills over time.
  10. You know I'm in, with both Jack and Midnight. Jack would probably work best in a thread set in the West End, so as to properly freak over collateral damage. Midnight could work anywhere, with anyone.
  11. Jack regarded the airship dubiously. "Are you even old enough for a driver's license?" he asked dryly. When Geckoman expressed reluctance to his identity, the swordsman cocked his head to the side. "Huh. Thought you teen hero types were pretty loose with the names-and-faces stuff. Good to hear at least one of you takes the time to think things through." He nodded with approval. Many of the the swashbuckler's peers showed an annoying lack of regard for such things; it was hard to believe that he was considered the odd one for not giving his real name out at the drop of a hat. "Regardless, put that thing on a timer and set it on your... floaty... thing," Jack instructed, resuming his pose atop the unconscious Meta-Grue. "Then get over here for this; you can stick it a scrapbook, show your gecko-grandkids someday."
  12. Jackalope tossed the grapple to its owner. "C'mon, Cali, you know I don't do the 'carried by my armpits' thing," he snorted with bucktoothed smirk. His human counter part snatched the device out of the air and cocked an eyebrow. "You know I heard that." Firing the grapple, he lept from the rooftop, swinging in the direction the winged cat had indicated. His antlered double followed suit, keeping pace with Jack with prodigious leaps.
  13. "Pfft, check out Mr. Zombies-Are-No-Big," Jack snorted as he ambled over, flicking his arms to slough gore from his sleeves. Not for the first time, the swordsman was glad he'd included gloves in his outfit. "Who am I?" Jack spread his hands before him, palms outward and waving back and forth in mock panic. He adopted an exaggerated version of Colt's signature twang. "Zombies?! Why didn't nobody tell me 'bout all the zombies?! Nobody said nothin' bout no zombies!" Dropping his hands to his sides and resuming his normal tone, he cracked his neck. "And I'm going to assume you learned to do all that shooting on robot drones or something," he added dryly.

  15. Jack gave Breakdown a flat look. "That's not even a real thing," he accused before sighing and slowly circling around the insects frozen in mid-flight. "But okay, yeah, looks like we're doing the 'caught between ticks of the clock' thing. Which, besides being wacky fun, begs the question: where the heck did the machine go? It's not like anybody had, uh, time to move it while we were out..." A thought slowly dawned on him as he watched the others move about the warehouse. "...unless they're stuck just like we are."
  16. Huh, good question. The zombie, plant... things just went on count 14. If Dead Head's on 16... erm... Darius, you wanna make a call?
  17. *sigh* Yes, thank you, gentlemen. ... Haaave you met Trevor?
  18. Alright, let's try this again! Midnight II is for sure, for realsies going live with the March PP awards. The plan is for him to move into the dorms just before Spring Break, so he'll have some time to settle in before starting classes. I want to run an introduction thread with him for that, and as many other threads, Claremont-related or otherwise, as I can get him into. Give a shout if you're interested or have an idea!
  19. Landing lightly on the rooftop, Jack looked back and forth between Calico and Jackalope, opening his mouth as if to say something before snapping it shut and rubbing the bridge of his nose in exasperation. "Alright, don't tell me," his antlered counterpart said, scratching his furry chin contemplatively. "You're... Man-drill of all Blades! Hugh-man?" The Earth-Prime swashbuckler gave him a long, nonplussed look before responding, more than a little disturbed to hear his voice coming from the five foot tall rabbit. "Uh... no. It's just 'Jack'." Jackalope clocked his head to one side, his long ears twitching. "...I don't get it." Jack sighed. "Alright, I assume the sooner we get this over with, the sooner I get to wake up." He turned to the winged cat, pointedly ignoring her very Mongrel-Angel-like flirtation. "We're looking for the, uh, other 'you', then?"
  20. Jack scratched the back of his head with one hand, bemused. "Huh. For a cosmic big-bad, you kinda went out like a little punk there, huh?" he addressed the unconscious Meta-Grue. Turning to Geckoman, he shook the youth's hand. "Jack of all Blades. Most people just call me Jack, 'cause, y'know, economy of syllables. Plus it's faster to text." The swashbuckler had an admitted general dislike of teenaged heroes, simply feeling that it was too much responsibility for someone so young, but this kid thought Jack was awesome, so he clearly had a good head on his shoulders. A though occurred to him and he gave the green-suited teen a broad grin. "Oh, man, tell me you've got a camera on that, uh, thing," he said, nodding to the oddly shaped airship. Stepping over to the fallen alien, Jack placed one booted foot atop the Meta-Grue's chest, holding his energy sword aloft with one hand and placing the other jauntily on his hip. "Seriously, this is like a 'never pay for a drink again' quality story," he continued, before evaluating Geckoman contemplatively. "Or, I guess, milkshakes, in your case? Root beer floats? Are you old enough for coffee?" The fencer paused for a moment then snapped his fingers. "You will be able to ask any girl you want to the prom."
  21. "One microcycle, please," Myshel responded to Atlas, tapping a touch screen to her left. Standing from her seat, she reached up and grasped a handle protruding from the ceiling and promptly yanking it downward. A surprisingly melodic but genderless voice chimed from the ship. "Initializing wormhole." Outside, points of light gathered on the tips of the four fins which extended from the rear of the vessel, and a growing hum could be heard rumbling from the engine room. On the bridge, the heroes watched as loose space debris swirled in front of them, caught in the pull of what looked like a sudden storm, crackling with energy. The Tempestian pilot sat back down and clipped a pair of interlocking belts across herself before turning to her passengers. "This timeagain you will definitely wishwant to sit down," she advised, indicating the seats in front of the various consoles on the bridge, as well as a row of chairs along the wall across from the panoramic screen. Jack took her advice, vaulting over the back of the chair adjacent to Myshel's pilot's console and strapping himself in. The 'storm' in front of them vaguely reminded his energy awareness of Phantom's dimension spanning magics, giving the sense of being in two places at once, across unimaginable distance. "So..." he said with a slight wince, "we're gonna fly right into that, huh?" The blue skinned alien woman turned to him with a wild, toothy grin. "Oh yes, Jackblade," she replied. Reaching up to rotate the extended handle ninety degrees, locking it into place, she pushed one of the control sticks in front of her all the way forward. The Flarerider surged forward, disappearing from the space above Earth into a tunnel of rippling blue light.

  23. Jack of all Blades' light footed stance worked against him, and he skidded forward a few inches as the malicious doppelganger's gravimetric energies imploded. Digging the soles of his boots into the floor, the swordsman regained his balance just in time to watch their foe vanish from site. Even his metahuman energy awareness confirmed that the evil Dark Star had disappeared. "Uh... okay? Yay?" he said uncertainly, cocking one eyebrow. "Is that normal? 'Cause I gotta tell you, not helping my opinion of the cosmic stuff." While Avenger saw to his wife, the fencer looked about the library. "Huh. I kinda expected our Twinkle Twinkle to just show up once laughing boy was dealt with. You don't think he's really...? I mean, c'mon, it's Dark Star, right?" Jack's sixth sense put him in a unique position to appreciate just how powerful the space faring hero really was, and it was tough to imagine anything doing much more than slowing him down. Then again, they'd just defeated his wicked double, so evidently it was possible. Irksome as he found the straight-laced boyscout, Jack still considered him an ally on friendly terms, and above all a decent man. The swashbuckler hoped there as still time to save him.

Ha, sorry Geez! To be fair, I sure this won't get going in earnest for a while, so there's so immediate rush.

    Mash-Up Madness

There's been enough interest in this to justify coming up with some stats for these guys. Each amalgamated character has a number of PP equal to the highest total among it's component parts. If you were combining a 90PP character and a 150PP character, for example, the result would be constructed from 150PP. If you have an idea for your amalgamation different from the one presented here, post the concept here first, to make sure you 'get it'. Likewise, if you ave any questions, fire away. Taking a look at these scans from the original Amalgam Comics is highly recommended! Assuming this does make it into practice, what say you, refs? Each post from the amalgam worth 1/2 post for each component character?
