"Aw, c'mon. You don't find any of this cathartic?" Erik posed to her with some amusement as he finished rotating another section of padding with a faint grunt. The ripped jeans and distinctly stained tank top he'd donned for the day's work wasn't his most put together outfit but at least he wasn't worried about messing it up any further. Standing back up to his full height he took the opportunity to stretch his back and regard Talya with undisguised appreciation. "Putting everything in the right place, making sure everything works? Back at the brownstone I did most of the handyman stuff around the place. It was nice to just fix the little stuff sometimes and not worry so much about the big stuff."

"Rock!" Nae-Dae screeched as her friend toppled over, completely ignoring the arrival of the Voidrunners to throw her toolbox open and retrieve a rocket launcher nearly as long as she was tall. Gripping it securely with three hands while the toolbox trailed behind her in the third the pint-sized mechanic vaulted over tables and overturned chairs to land atop Rock's chest, planting herself between the concussed living statue and his attacker. Pointing the barrel of the weapon squarely at Singularity with a noticeably quiver, the simian sentient snarled, "Back the shranx off! He di'n't do nothin' to you! The old Lor broad was right about you and yer crazy friend!" She flicked her eyes downward, expression turning scared in a way that made her seem even smaller for a moment. "Aw, mate, yer bleedin' all over..."

Eve wasn't entirely sure if Combs' physiology allowed her cheeks to colour a darker tone of ash but at the very least she averted her eyes toward the ceiling with a small cough. "Well. I've done the long distance thing myself," she confided with a faint smile. "I appreciate you waiting until there weren't cameras about. I'd have morning show hosts trying to gossip with me for months." For her part Becky didn't seem overly eager to let her girlfriend back away, one arm having cinched tightly behind the Frenchwoman's waist as she leaned forward. She straightened abruptly as she caught herself letting out a low, rumbling growl from the back of her throat, proving that she most certainly could blush a dark apricot as she shot a self-conscious look toward her superior. "Aheh. Er. Thanks again for approving everything, ma'am." The arm around Eve didn't loosen any even as the taller woman composed herself. Canadian Shield waved a hand in the air with another curt nod. "Blue Fox has more than proven herself a friend to True North, more than happy to extend a little... let's call it hospitality. That said, I do have things to take care of." With the faint whiff of a manufactured excuse she nodded again to Eve before heading down one of the branching corridors at a clipped pace.

"Just wondering why we're just waiting around!" Kimber exclaimed with a bright smile as if the courier had just enthusiastically recommended a new amusement park he'd recently visited. The poltergeist hopped off of her levitating scythe, looking a little odd as she continued to hover in the air and simply brought the weapon up into a more ready position before turning to her manticore. "Avro, stay with Nick for a minute, okay? I'm sure the puppies will behave themselves." She gave Grim a thousand watt grin while Avro huffed quietly, padding around the grass to put the rockabilly necromancer's legs between himself and the hounds. Without further discussion the translucent woman sped through the air diving through the front wall of the house as easily as a swimmer leaping into still water. Inside, however, the house was anything but tranquil. She felt a metaphysical tug immediately as she crossed the threshold, trying to yank her deeper inside. A more mundane ghost would have swept up in the current, she expected, but mundane was not a word one typically associated with Ghost Girl... or whatever she was going to start calling herself. Musing on the matter she planted her etherial feet in the empty air and began to look around for clues.

Ghost Girl Will Save: 1d20+12 26

By the time Iyar had taken aim and begun to squeeze the trigger Midnight was already a blur of motion, the shadow of every primal predator hardcoded into the psyche since the dawn of humanity, lunging forward toward its prey. One carbon fibre escrima stick lashed out followed immediately by a sweeping leg combination that left both fleeing guards insensate on the floor of the prison. Still crouching he extended his focus outward, trying to determine if an alarm had been raised. A faint click of mechanism had him immediately surging back into motion somersaulting forward and launching himself off of the deck over over the lip of the security door as it began to iris closed. As it sealed itself shut with a secure thunk of metal plates locking into place he came up at the ready, the way back cut off.

Erik exchanged a glum, apologetic look with Talya that promised a conversation to be had later but for the time being it looked as thought they were going ahead with the lesson as planned. "Alright, baby heroes, I get that you're all special snowflakes - not a shot at you specifically, Snowflake, just an expression - but sooner or later some asshat who's fireproof or bite-proof or whatever and you'll be happy to actually know how to throw a real punch." It wasn't the most original nickname for Cathy but he didn't have much to work with besides Raina's frequent complaints about the temperature of their shared dormitory and he was after all a little distracted. Squaring off against Huang he rolled his shoulders easily and focused on the present. "Alright, Jay, they have you working hand to hand or with weapons?" Besides his annoyance he had another motive for singling out the dhampir; he knew the young man was at least reasonably competent in a fight. It remained to be seen if that was true without relying on shadows and magic tricks.

"Officially it's the Canadian Metahuman Something-Something Centre since it got rebuilt the, rrrrr... third time?" Wendy Go spoke up, voice deep and coarse as she glance down to Canadian Shield for confirmation that she was remembering correctly. The half-Igneous woman nodded. "But there's been a Bishop Hall since the late forties and that's the only name that's likely to see any use. It's in reference to Billy Bishop, a flying ace from the first World War. He was responsible for getting contemporary members of True North behind enemy lines on several occasions and was a staunch supporter of the unit in the decades that followed." She gestured to a a display where a reconstruction of the front of a Nieuport 17 fighter protruded from the wall, it's nose painted blue and its spinner red. When they made it to the rear of the large room a security guard buzzed them through a door which looked as elegant as the rest of the museum on their side but revealed industrial looking metal locking rods as it swung open. Beyond the hallway was somewhere between an office building and a military base, well lit and tidy though the flooring and wall colour suggested its look hadn't been updated since the Hall's construction. "But I doubt you came all this way to take advantage of my knowledge of high school history," Combs drawled once the doors shut behind them, losing some if not all of her camera-ready persona while Becky seemed to collapse in upon herself, white fur and extra arms retreating until a fully human brunette was standing in the beast's place, albeit a bit out of breath.

Erik remained standing and let those better acquainted with the Danger family do most of the talking for once. Ace had used his resources to deduce the swordsman's secret identity with annoyingly minimal effort not so long ago but it was tough to know how much this old woman already knew about him; better to hang back for the time being, he reasoned. He resisted the urge to rub the back of his neck with one hand, crossing his arms over his chest instead, as it became pointedly obvious that Frost was ignoring him. Dimitri hadn't been entirely convinced that Erik and Min had Talya's best interests at heart after their last meeting and he had a feeling the Englishwoman's pregnancy wasn't going to do anything to convince her old Russian friend. Inwardly he had to admit that he probably would have already taken a swing at himself in the same situation but then spies and vampires tended to be a little less direct than that. Something to look forward to, he thought morosely as he refocused his attention on the conversation at hand. He unfolded his arms to raise both hands as Mrs. Dent-Danger gave him a once over. "I'm just here to make sure this doesn't go all 'three hour tour' again," he spoke up finally.

The Alkahest roared in anger as Fury's running tackle sent it toppling backward, any traces of surprise or trepidation washed away by the tide of undiluted rage. The twisted hulk of muscle balled up a fist with audible pops of impossible tendons and tried to swing at the smaller woman only to have its whole arm pushed back into the street by strength far in excess even of its own. The Alkahest didn't waste time reflecting that Fury was outpouring some form of exotic energy rather than exerting physical muscle, didn't consider how it might adjust strategy to overcome an opponent who could best it in its own arena. The Alkahest simply trashed with its other arm, then kicked against the pavement with both legs, undeterred by the crushing power of the Terminus powered fighter. Finally with a roar that sent bileous spittle flying everywhere the monster tensed its tree trunk-like neck and smashed its head forward into the face of its opponent. "RRRAUUUUGH!" As Fury was sent stumbling off of her target's chest the Alkahest clamoured to its feet, shoulders heaving up and down beneath its coat, the white smudged and strained by rolling about in the wreckage. It was only a momentary advantage and the creature had clearly spent much of its energy managing the feat but it was equally clear that regardless of the odds there was nothing that would convince it to stop advancing against the current target of its wrath while it was still able to stand.

Well, I don't see the Alkahest retreating, so: ALKAHEST Surge: Unarmed Attack vs Fury: 1d20+8 10 ...sigh. Hero Point: Unarmed Attack vs Fury, HP Reroll: 1d20+8 19 That's a DC 27 Toughness Save and the Alkahest is out of HP. It will have to eat the fatigue for the surge next round.

ALKAHEST Move Action: Escape Grapple: 1d20+25 34 ...well, should have seen that coming. I don't know, should that be another opposed roll since this is another attempt to break free? Probably not happening regardless.

No sense burning an HP trying to get the 20 to beat that. Is there any reason the Alkahest can't use its second Move Action to try again, though?

Combs gave Blue Fox a faint smile at the polite request as she silently gestured the smaller woman toward the doors, pausing to give a few waves to the cameras but calmly choosing not to engage with any of the shouted questions. Wendy Go moved to hold one of the double doors open for their guest, briefly grateful that her fur kept anyone from noticing the light blush brought on my the telepath's shared emotions. She maintained her composure well enough, though, and soon they'd stepped inside Bishop Hall with Canadian Shield following and pulling the door shut behind her. Becky sent Eve the mental link equivalent of a warm hug but remained in her monstrous form as they continued further into the building. "I think this is your first time in the Hall?" Combs spoke up conversationally as she adjusted her long stride to fall into comfortable step beside the two younger heroes. They both knew for a fact that it was but the Frenchwoman got the sense that Shield was still somewhat in her 'on camera' persona. The chamber they'd entered was a massive semicircle that reminded her a little of the lobby of a museum or movie theatre, with an information desk in the middle of the room and exhibits of interest in glass cases or hanging from the high ceiling. She recognized a few of the costumes on display from the statues outside and the sprawling skeleton over their heads had definitely belonged to an animal not of Earth. There weren't any tourists there just then but she could surmise that the building had been set up for public tours and there were a handful of staff members working on one thing or another, most of whom Combs and Becky greeted by name between them.

Talya had seen Erik face down some fairly dire situations with a broad grin of bared teeth but the expression currently on the man hunched over a kitchen table covered in tax forms and invoices was one totally bereft of hope. He was supporting his head with one hand, elbow propped up on the table, while the other clutched a piece of paper littered in empty boxes he needed to somehow fill with information. He was more than happy to toss it onto a pile with its fellows when the blonde poked her head into the room but his frown returned with a blink as he processed her words. "Woah, wait, as in Ace?" he asked unnecessarily as he slid his chair out from the table and stood up. I wasn't as if 'Danger' was a particularly common surname. "The last time you helped out with an Ace thing I didn't see you for a few years," the swordsman pointed out, almost managing to avoid flicking his eyes toward Talya's stomach in concern. Suggesting that her current state might keep her out of action wasn't going to get him anywhere but it was impossible not to worry all the same. "Lemme grab my coat, I'm coming, too. Taxes will just have to wait, oh woe."

The double doors of Bishop Hall opened as the petite francophone reached the base of the stairs that led up the building, flanked by statues of Canadian heroes past, not unlike the monuments of Freedom City's Heroes' Knoll. The woman who strode out to greet her had the photographers' attention immediately, nearly seven feet of muscular poise and commanding presence wrapped in an iconic white and cool green costume. Canadian Shield had her copped hued hair in a shorter style she'd adopted in the new year that walked the line between classic and daring while drawing attention to the slight sheen of the scale-like mineral deposits across her cheeks. She moved to the top the stairs to stand with one foot on the first step downward and give the new arrival a professional but still friendly smile. "Always a pleasure to have you with us, Renarde." Combs would have easily been the most imposing figure there if not for the mass of white fur and predatory mass that followed just behind her, nearly another two feet taller than the statuesque geokinetic. In her bestial form Wendy Go slouched forward slightly, her main set of arms hanging to either side while the smaller pair tucked in close to her broad chest. Of everyone present only Blue Fox knew to interpret the lips peeled back over too many razor sharp teeth as a warm smile but conveniently she was also the only one that particular expression was ever aimed toward. There was something unnerving about seeing the beast standing calmly at the ready, her form so obviously built for violent bursts of motion, but the journalists were apparently used to it, nearly as many calling for her attention as were shouting for Canadian Shield or True North's mysterious guest. One of the smaller arms lifted briefly in a short wave before she squared her larger shoulder again.

Rock Sense Motive Check vs DC 32: 1d20+15 19 Toughness Save vs DC 30: 1d20+17 20 Staggered and Dazed; no Knockback, however. Initiative: 1d20-2 15 Nae-Dae Initiative: 1d20+2 10

"Why can't anybody use a bloody gun like a normal person?!" Nae-Dae screeched in objection as Aquaria's armour visibly powered up within arms reach from her, a distance she immediately sought to increase by scrambling over the back of the chair she was perched atop, putting the first the furniture then several started bar patrons between herself and the amphibian. She wasn't much keener to be anywhere near the mammalian Terran, what with the way she'd demonstrated her unnatural strength, but Nae-Dae hadn't watched a video of Singularity sending a flarking Star Knight to an ugly death. She ended up in the middle of an occupied table with a clatter, sending drinks and bowl of something green spilling over onto the seated patrons as she lugged her toolbox along with her and prepared to pop it open and retrieve the ordinance within. It wasn't that Rock was ignoring his captain; the big boulder-on-legs wasn't trying to escalate things any more than they already were. It was just that he wasn't about to stands still while his little buddy was in danger of being torn limb from limbs - a more dire prospect for an Irreran than most species. "ROCK!" he bellowed over the rising shouting in the bar, reiterating what their powered-down Star Knight acquaintance had said, albeit somewhat less clearly. He raised both broad hands in front of himself as he continued to advance through the crowd, trying to make and maintain eye contact with Jessie with the smouldering red coals set deep into his cragged face. "ROCK."

The Alkahest's head swivelled away from Woodsman as the cyborg made his presence know, the cords in the misshapen monster's neck standing out like steel cables at the sound of bone snapping under an armoured boot. The beast paused for a moment in animalistic consideration as the similarly twisted, horned enemy stepped through the portal before refocusing on Providence, ignoring the devil with singleminded focus. Eyes wide and teeth gritted silently it crossed the distance in short order and brought each barrel sized fist down toward the aggrandizing malcontent in an artless overhead blow. Providence avoided the attack with little difficulty, letting it strike the pavement instead with a reverberating crash, chunks of the street cracking and tilting up at jagged angles.

Midnight II Move Action: Demoralize Guards; DC 30 with Skill Mastery. Standard Action: Charge Guards, Power Attack 5, Taking 10. That's a result of 21 altogether and DC 28. Hopefully Takedown Attack 2 will mean he can knock out both guards before they get any further. If 21 isn't enough to hit them, let me know and I'll revise.
