Jack didn't look concerned by the threat, per se, but his expression his harden immediately, smile fading from his face and eyes narrowing. Bounding into the air he spun about, using Smash's extended arm as a springboard to arc up and over the grey skinned brute. His energy blade plunged downward with all of that momentum behind it, sinking into his opponent to the hilt. While the sword left no actual cuts electricity coursed through Smash from the inside out, over-sized muscles convulsing until he collapsed on the park's broken pathway with a pained groan, acrid smoke wafting upward from his back. Landing atop the unconscious criminal, Jack looked coolly over to Grab. "Cute. It's like a kitten thinking she's caught the laser pointer dot."

"The perks aren't my fault, it's cold out!" Jack protested as he rolled nimbly out of the way of another one-two combination from Smash that further tore up the pathway but posed little threat of actually connecting with the shirtless hero. His equally undressed opponent roared in frustration, taking another swing through the air that the fencer ducked under with aplomb. Slithering about the fight like a snake, Grab gritted her teeth in her distorted face. "It's like that with you two? Fine." Flattening her torso out until it resembled a long spool of paper the shapeshifter surged forward with sudden speed and encircled Bombshell several times over, wrapping her tightly in her own stretchy mass. In a moment only Talya's head and shoulders were visible while Grab's upper body loomed over her with fingers elongated into needle points. "Alright, @#$%, give up or your little girlfriend gets it."

  4. Borrowing from our House Rules a bit, Bombshell "is Bound, and thus, Helpless, unable to move, or take any actions which require physical activity other than Escaping, with a Defense of (5 + size modifier). Other adjacent characters gain an additional +4 attack bonus against them, and can coup-de-grace them as a full action." Also relevant: "Escape (Move Action): You attempt to escape a grapple. Roll an opposed check, with either your Grapple bonus or your Escape skill (or Dexterity bonus, if you have no ranks in Escape), whichever is higher, against your foe's Grapple bonus. If you succeed, then you break free, and you can move up to your speed away from the grappler." > 23 - Jack of all Blades - Uninjured, 5HP 11 - Bombshell - Uninjured, Bound, 0HP 8 - Smash - Bruised x1, Staggered, Demoralized, -3 Toughness/ -3 Impervious 6 - Grab - Bruised x1

She can't beat it with her bonus but the roll will still determine whether she's Pinned or Bound.
  6. "Unbelievable," Jill groused as Spellbound suggested a likely explanation for the lack of communication. Part of her wanted to work herself into a full-on rant over it but Dragonfly's apology brought her up short. With a sigh, she admitted, "It's not your fault, hon, it's not like I ever asked you how she was doing or anything. I'm just... I'm worried and I'm letting it get to me instead of doing anything useful." She could feel the muscles between her shoulders tightening even as she said it, every fiber demanding that she be doing something rather than just standing around waiting. Grumbling to herself more than anything else she got out of Mara's way and let her work on a way to get them through the barrier. Walking over to where Willow was moving equipment, she brought a series of small force fields into being, placing them under the length of cable trailing behind the dryad for support. "Here, hermana, you shouldn't have to shoulder that by yourself."
  7. "Ha, you don't know Caradoc," Jack grinned back up at Echo, finding her concerns endearing but probably more humorous than the white haired heroine had been going for. "He's going to be upset enough that even one of us went to help him while there were still innocent folks in trouble. And don't worry, fighting way out of my weight class is my specialty." Inwardly he had to admit that she had a good point; best case scenario he was at least looking at someone capable of keeping an unarmored Steve in one place, either by disabling his cybernetics or just being really ungodly powerful. So that'll be interesting. With luck, though, countermeasures that worked on the former drone wouldn't work quite so well on the very different swordsman. With lots and lots of luck. "Of course, if you don't hear from us by the time you wrap up, y'know, feel free to come looking! Now go on, raise some robosaur hell!" He gave Echo his most confident, reassuring smile and a thumbs up.
  8. Winifred's heartbeat jackhammered in her ears as Phantom as the cage appeared around Phantom and the smoke cloud enveloped them all. A muscle spasm buckled her left knee and she nearly toppled to the ground before just barely regaining her balance. Throat constricting and chest feeling tight she could practically feel the Alkahest ripping her apart from the inside out as she screwed her eyes shut and focused on the acrid smell of Smith's cloud cover. Ammonia. Urine to ward off animals, perhaps? A sensible addition. Distasteful as it was she forced herself to slow her breathing and concentrate, mentally reciting the chemical compounds she would have used to achieve a similar colour and volume of smoke. Heartbeat fading to a dull roar she made sure her bag was securely fastened over her shoulder and felt about inside for one of several stoppered flasks, separated by individual pockets from her books, fingers closing over the glass for reassurance. She could do this, she could keep the beast under control and think her way through the situation. Faretti's tirade brought her back to the present, eyes opening despite the smoke. "Language," she called, voice tight under the affectation of dispassionate propriety. Keeping her head down she ran in the direction she remembered seeing Raina, hands outstretched to feel for any obstacles. Hopefully the witch would have a better idea of what they ought to do; she'd seemed knowledgeable about the class' material before the unexpected interruption.

"Shelly's just saying that it really feels like you two are phoning it in and I'm sorry but I think I have to agree," Jack sighed as he backflipped through the air out of Smash's reach. His boots touched down on the counter of a stand selling little herb plants for home gardens, the owner having already fled, and he kicked off again back toward the grey behemoth. There were still innocent people nearby, those injured by Smash's rampage and those who refused to leave them. Jack knew he had to keep the fight as contained as possible. "There's supposed to be more of you guys, right? You've got a crew? Maybe the others are better at this." His crackling blade whipped forward and lashed across his opponent's chest as he slid underneath the robber and between his legs, popping back up to his feet on the other side.

Grab's pliable body absorbed the impacts from Bombshell's batons as though she were striking a spring mattress but the Larceny Inc member was occupied enough with the flurry of blows that she didn't have time to attack or escape the confrontation. "Gah, just shut up! What are you even talking about?!" Stretching out of the way of another swing, she circled around the edge of the battle. "Ernie, smash them before the cops catch up!" "I'm doin' it, LuAnn!" Smash insisted, picking himself up after the blonde's blow to his knee and rounding on Jack of all Blades with a two-handed haymaker. The climsy attack had no chance to actually connecting with the nible swordsman but it did crack the paved pathway where it struck, sending flecked black shards spraying in all directions.

  14. "Man, this must make 'date night' without getting interrupted by the kids so much easier," Erik mused aloud, looking about their little bubble of sped up time and the slow motion activity outside of it. "That makes me feel a lot less bad about how I'm going to totally embarrass you with my vastly superior barbecue skills." Pulling a chicken breast from the cooler Stesha had provided he gave the other two men a cocky grin before tossing it into the air above the grill. Just as gravity began to reassert itself on the cut of meat his fiery swords exploded into motion, slicing with greater ease and precision than any metal blade could have managed. From Richard and Elis' perspective it was a blur of heated air extending from flashing limbs; from outside the bubble it was the entire space in front of Erik had burst into a single sheet of flame. Diced chunks of chicken fell upon the grill and were soon joined by vegetables chopped with similar theatrical flair. Before the tomato or cucumber could start to darken too far he'd begun assembling everything into a sort of makeshift shawarma using the buns they had on hand. Thanks to the fanciful preparation each edge had been seared just so and Erik looked appropriately pleased with himself as he presented the first platter to Elis to be set aside. "Shawordma," he explained with a straight face.
  15. "Gee, thanks," the swordsman drawled looking in each of the directions the brothers indicated and letting out a long breath from one corner of his mouth. "Alright, here's how we play this. Gecks, take Escher and the brothers and steal every big robot dinosaur you can get your mitts on. See how those banditos keeping everybody locked up in the mine handle a stampede, Spielberg style." If the riders in town were of the same caliber as the man he'd knocked out to procure their current ride he was willing to bet the rank and file thugs didn't have the stones to stand and fight against their own unfair advantage. "See about sabotaging whatever weird science stuff they've got set up, too, if you can but only once you've got everybody out safe." He nodded grimly toward the floating head-shaped craft. "I'll go get our guy back."

"Haha, no way, did you actually just rob a bank? Who does that any more?" Jack laughed uproariously as the packs of bills fell out of the sack. "You couldn't take the time to draw dollar signs on the bags, though? If you're going to go classic, at least commit!" He shot Bombshell a broad grin when she looked his way, approving of her devastating sneak attack. He might have even been inspired to do some swooning if the autumn chill on his bare torso hadn't been keeping him at attention. As Grab turned her attentions to trying to capture Bombshell with her stretching digits the swordsman darted forward and caught the long, twisting fingers with a number of artful parries. With a normal blade and normal hands it would have been rapping her on the knuckles but in this case it was closer to electrocuting an octopus' tentacles. With a high pitched hiss the robber recoiled, resuming almost human proportions as shocks crackled across her ductile form. "Seems like you oughta consider just sitting down and waiting for the cops to make it over her, huh?"

"ARGH, what the @#$%?!" Smash cried out in pain as his knee - enhanced durability or not - crumpled under the unexpected blow, dropping him to one side with a sound like a load of bricks falling off of the back of a truck. The sack he was carrying likewise spilled away, several stacks of crisp bills sliding out across the pathway that ran through the market. Grab looked between her partner and the fallen sack then over to the heroes flanking them, visibly doing the math as to whether or not it was better to try and cut her losses. Deciding that she didn't like her chances of fighting her way out without Smash she whirled on Bombshell, hoping to open up an escape route. "That trick'll only work one, blondie!" she promised, fingers elongating into ropes that sped forward to ensnare the ex-thief. "Show you 'higher caliber'!" Despite her words and her powers she wasn't nearly fast enough to catch Talya, the graceful ease with which the other woman evaded her only frustrating Grab further.

Erik's coat ended up near Talya's, a little more carefully placed so that it covered the fabric bags carrying the eggs they'd already bought. "Hold on, why do you get to monopolize the swooning opportunities? Why are you automatically the swooner and I have to be the swoonee?" His jeans joined the pile of clothes to reveal his tights but he'd worn them more for the insulation than anything else and the only other pieces of his costume handy were his wig and bandanna mask, pulled from the inner pocket of his wool-lined coat and quickly donned. With the only other immediate option being entering the fray in the shirt Erik Espadas had just been seen wearing he shrugged and added the top to the growing pile, going bare chested. Glancing down at himself he made a soft sound of realization. "Oh, right. That's why." Grinning shamelessly he used the sprinkler system control box attached to the shed as a stepping stone to leap onto the roof. The locked metal box shuddered slightly as he passed, the electrical components inside sparking and heating the trapped air before a jolt of electricity sprung from the dented steel to the swashbuckler's waiting hand, coalescing into a scintillating rapier of pure energy. His free hand came down on top of a produce stall as he spun himself acrobatically through the air, pushing off so that he landed finally on the ground directly in front of the rampaging criminals. Looking the shirtless Smash up and down idly, Jack of all Blades pursed his lips and tossed his hair. "Well, one of us is going to have to change. Don't worry, we'll hook you up with some prison orange, you can do the matching couples thing."
