Wraith stretched - literally, in fact, her body contorting a bit and a shiver of tiny limbs like half-formed scythe-tipped millipede legs rippling up her length as she flexed. The situation was grim, of course, and the giant woman-ship-building foreboding, but a significant portion of her was a bit thrilled at the prospect. Sneaking, spying, maybe a good fight...if it wasn't the Terminus, or so monstrous an enemy, it would have all the potential to be so much fun. And even then.... "Being captured alive is not my path," she agreed, with a certain satisfaction. If she went down, it would be fighting, preferably against great odds or on a glorious hunt. It was only fitting. "Ghost Girl does not have to worry about such things, as is her advantage. And the Blue Fox is...well-equipped for danger, and has us anyway. The power duct sounds like our best option, yes, then - should things go well, we may not even be noticed."

Indira's eyes flicked to a solid, light-devouring black in the space between two blinks, featureless voids studying the images they were shown with great interest. Or, at least, as much interest as featureless voids could manage. "A curious goal," she admitted, glancing at the others and then back to the vision of the tower. "I do hope that those are not our new...friends," she added, though remembering their odd behavior put a measure of hesitation into her words. "That may complicate things." "Do you know what it is that makes this stone so important? I understand if you do not have specific details, but the images and the effort make it seem...." She trailed off for a few seconds, making a quiet, unfocused humming noise that Kimber and Corbin would recognize as Indira grasping for a word she couldn't quite translate. "....like...a thing of power. Perhaps of significant magic, the kind you hear about in stories."

"There's still some meat left on my brunch if you aren't happy with your military rations," Taimat said to Will, though the number of teeth in her smile called the selflessness of the offer into question. "It'll have cooled down a bit, and some scavengers are probably picking parts of it clean by now, but I guarantee it's fresher than whatever's in your little box there." Gaian Knight nodded soberly at Richard's words, picking thoughtfully at his own MRE. "Agreed, so far as not telling them more than we have to. It's an odd feeling, considering who they are, but I'm not sure we have a lot of choices; there's changing things, and then there's changing things." He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "When or if an opportunity to help the raptor people comes up, though, my vote is still firmly on the side of taking that opportunity, if we can. Goodness knows how, at this point, but...."

Wraith's familiarity with - and fondness for - the human or human-like body was admittedly more abstract than her companions', but her own human guise and time on Earth gave her at least a decent grasp of the anatomy and a sneaking suspicion that there weren't many points of ingress or egress on a giant woman-building that didn't carry some level of unfortunate implications. Such observations, she had to accept as she shifted her weight, were better left to experts. Instead she tried to regard the Palace as a...monument? A trophy? "I am not familiar with the customs and culture at work," she admitted, glancing at her friend for signs of her reaction to the fire, "but this does not appear to be the dwelling of the...mentally balanced. I cannot tell if such a place is the sign of obsession, or...the word is 'vanity'?"

Tiamat apparently wasn't inclined to give the giant much breathing room - she was already wheeling back around as Sekhmet clawed at his back, and no sooner had the lioness fallen to the ground than the dragon, trailing fire from her jaws, crashed into Gyges' side. None-too-gently pushing away with her many-taloned feet, Tiamat hit the pavement on all fours, chortling. "Not much longer, giant," she observed, tail lashing. "Duty or not, you're playing with fire!" That last bit, of course, was punctuated with precisely that: a jet of crimson flame that shot up toward the Hekatonkheires' face.

....oh hey, that's right. Charge is a standard action now. Well! Move Action: Fast Startle Intimidate Check vs. Hekatonkheires (Fast Task: Startle) (1d20 + 22=27) ...ouch. Well, it's something. Tiamat uses Set-Up to pass the benefit along to Sekhmet, assuming Hekky fails it (which he may, seeing as he gets a +1 bonus for it being her second startle attempt against him).
-
What the heck, let's gamble a bit. Tiamat'll charge in on a full power attack. Melee Attack Roll vs. Hekatonkheires (unarmed; Power Attack -5/+5, Charge +2) (1d20 + 7 - 5 + 2=21) Wheeeee for gambling! Assuming that does indeed hit, it's a tasty DC35 Toughness save. Tiamat is at -2 defense for the round.

Dragonfly almost made it to the window before the demon wormed its way back out of her dimensional pocket - a small, annoyed hissing sound could be heard under her helmet as she watched it fold back into normal reality. "Stubborn," she observed, sighing at the view out of the window. She'd really wanted to drop it; if nothing else, if it had managed to fly or land safely, she'd have learned something important about its abilities. Too much meat on the machine; she couldn't quite break down the design.... Still, she wasn't out of tricks. As it tried to hit her brain again she calmly wheeled to the side, a long, glowing blade of twisted space sprouting an inch off her knuckles and driving, bloodlessly, deep into the thing's side. "You are surprisingly resilient. Sometimes I miss thugs and arms dealers every day. Much simpler."

Tiamat bellowed a laugh on seeing Sekhmet assault the titan's face, and as he stumbled back to his feet she simply folded her wings and fell. "You get consideration for the proper respect of 'lady', giant, but you lose it all for 'puppy'." A rather extraordinary amount of dragon slammed into his shoulder like a scaly red meteor, tail lashing as she bit deep into his shoulder. Even the mighty dragon wasn't too eager to stick around once the surprise was gone, though - digging her claws into his back for purchase, Tiamat launched herself back into the air, roaring defiance as she wheeled around.

Hrrrm, the dice punished me for trying to be clever. Back to the standards, then. Melee Attack Roll vs. Demon 2 (Spatial Blade; Master Plan +1) (1d20 + 11 + 1=31) Ah, my kingdom for improved crit on that attack. Alas! DC26 Tou vs. damage. Penetrating 11, too, though I don't think it matters!

"It would attract attention, however," Indira mused. "If you believe not being devoured is a concern, or if the knowledge you provided was obviously supernatural, it would attract much attention. Many would come to seek your gift and over you money for it, but others would attempt to exploit you for personal gain. Anonymity is boring, but it is also safe, and you cannot easily get it back." "....or, perhaps, I assume you cannot," she amended, smiling. "I confess we know very little about you outside a single story. But it is worth considering."

Tiamat growled when they scanned her - a sound far too deep to be coming from a humanoid even her size - but she apparently didn't want to be the only one to turn the aliens away, putting up with the invasion to her privacy as best she could manage. Gaian Knight, on the other hand, frowned a bit at talk of the way of things...but couldn't quite manage to counter the point. "As to your broader question," he answered instead, putting his hands in his coat pockets, "when those less fortunate than us are in danger, we try to help them as best we can. It's...an imperfect ideal, admittedly; we're a diverse bunch, and some are more willing to help than others. And sometimes it's just not always possible," he added, glancing up at a threat that wasn't quite close enough for him to feel. "But many of us do what we can, when we can, if it's doable without causing further harm."

"I am not familiar with the local tales, but where I am from we have many tales of...dangerous offers," Indira admitted, hands politely behind her back as she inclined her head to study the pool. "Of course, there are also stories of truly benevolent beings who only wish to help. The danger, I think, is always in deciding which one you are talking to." "Kimber has an excellent point," she agreed, smiling. "If you can think for yourself, then you have some say in the matter. We would enjoy hearing more about you, and about what you want out of all this."

Standard action: Tooth and claw! Melee Attack Roll vs. Hekatonkheires (1d20 + 7=21) DC30 Toughness if it hits. Move action: Wheel away a bit to gain a little more distance.

"We are - ah, largely - one species," Gaian Knight explained, glancing sidelong at Tiamat. She snorted, but didn't try to correct him; no sense in breaking her human form now. "Some of our people have...unique gifts. We used them to travel a very long time to come here and study this place, hoping to learn from it and take that knowledge back with us before it is destroyed by a natural disaster." It was at least mostly true, and he did his best to not seem deceitful - and when he chuckled, it was with genuine humor. "I have to admit, we're a little surprised to have run into you, he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "We weren't even expecting a local group of primitive reptile people in the area - you arriving as well caught us off-guard. I am called Gaian Knight, and these are some of my colleagues, including the scientists and documenters we're here to help in gathering information."

Gaian Knight watched the ship appear with a great deal of curiosity and no small amount of caution. "That's...probably not going to make anything easier for anybody. Tiamat?" That last bit was directed to his league communicator, and there was a pause before he got a reply. "Yeah, I saw. Subtle or grand, you think?" "Subtle, please. We don't know why they're here, let's not give them any excuses if we can help it." As it was, she showed up - in human form - just in time to watch their visitors arrive in person. Or...in drone? In suits? In something, anyway. "I don't suppose you give them a friendly Earth greeting?" Gaian Knight asked. He'd managed to position himself between the alien trio and as many non-powered personnel as he could, but with the surprise and this many people.... His request earned him a flat look, which slid sideways over to the alien visitors. "Yo," she offered, dryly, waving a hand. Tarrant looked, briefly, like he'd developed a sudden and awful headache. "....in their language, Tiamat." "And that language would be?" "....right, okay. Get them to talk first. Ah - hello!" he greeted, taking a half-step forward. "Welcome to Earth. I don't suppose we can help you with anything - your appearance here has to be as surprising to us as our own is to you."

(Also, note to self: Fox, remember to import the pp earned from the archived sheet before moving topic to the Hero bank.)

Tired-Fox-brain sheet checking: engage! Abilities You're paying for (and have a bonus for) Con 16, rather than the noted Con 18. The math everywhere else is fine, though, near as I can tell, so you ought to be able to just update that 18 to a 16. Combat 24pp in attack buys you a +12 base attack, so your ranged bonus shouldn't be less than +12. Trade-offs describe what your sheet actually has, after all, not what limits you're imposing on them. Similarly, 28pp in defense buys +14 base defense, not +16. Feats I count only 21pp in feats, here, not 23pp. You've overpaying by 2pp, and can invest those points elsewhere. Powers Minor notation thing - you've noted the bracelets as being a 10pp device, when they are actually a 15pp device. I believe the math is right, though, it's just a single note that didn't get updated. A 45pp array is rank 22.5, not rank 10. We've house-ruled the Detect and Awareness super-senses into a single power, [Descriptor] Awareness. It's a pretty recent change, though - basically, you get both Detect and Awareness at once, because buying them separately is silly. The math on your power remains the same, though! Just the name should be updated to Magic Awareness, to relieve confusion. Math seems a little funky on your Area powers. Area [Cylinder], by default, gives you a 5' radius per rank. Progression 4, 5, and 7 give you, in turn, 100', 250', and 1000' per rank instead, so your powers may be a bit larger in area than you're expecting (and have noted on your sheet). The actual costs are right, but I don't want you paying extra pp for area you didn't want or need - if you just want the bigger area, update the powers. If you want to invest the pp elsewhere, feel free!

One minute Dragonfly was there, and the other she was gone - the very air wrapping in around her as she vanished. Her location didn't remain a mystery for long, though: the world spat her back out just behind the demon, one armored hand reaching out to grasp...well, the nearest hand-sized surface that didn't look like it'd leave something behind on her palm, really. Lines like creases in paper shot out across the thing's body, and this time it was the one to pull a vanishing act. Reality folded inside-out in ways even demons weren't supposed to see, and when everything was right-side-around again it was left, alone, in the blank void of her own little pocket of space. Not that she expected it to last forever. Dragonfly's armored visor turned back toward the windows, mind quickly estimating mass, height, and acceleration as compared to how well it had weathered her earlier assault.

Gaian Knight didn't look like he'd gotten a lot of sleep, but he'd recovered at least a bit of his good mood - how much of it was genuine and how much was for the sake of everyone else remained to be seen. He made himself as useful as he could, giving the crew a hand with anything and doing his best to discourage curiosity into the whereabouts of his scaled companion. "She got hungry," he'd dryly note when someone asked. A loud crash and the ensuing final cry of one of the area's larger herbivores prompted an addendum: "I don't recommend going out there 'til she's done, though. It'll have been quick, clean, and not a meal you want to watch if you're planning on keeping yours down."

Welp, blasting's getting repetitive and I don't like the odds on those mental blasts. Time to be inventive. Dragonfly teleports up to the demon and attempts to Pocket it: Melee Attack Roll vs. Demon 2 (Dimensional Pocket) (1d20 + 11 + 2=27) Assuming that hits, it's a DC20 Reflex save to avoid going into the pocket.

"Of course I could talk to them," Tiamat conceded, her normally-impressive voice quieted to a low rumble as the camp settled down for the night. She had, by no coincidence, settled her considerable scaled bulk down directly between the camp and the forest. If nothing else, the presence of such a large predator would hopefully deter any but the bravest of would-be forest lurkers and scavengers. "It's the gift of tongues, Knight; 'all languages' means all languages. I confess I don't know what I could say, though." Gaian Knight sighed, reclining in an earth-made chair and looking up at the sky. "That's...yeah. Just knowing more about them would be something, I guess, but the whole thing just...it isn't right. They never had a shot - they're thinking creatures cut down too early. I feel like we have to do something." "People die. Peoples die. It's the way of things, Knight. Not that it ever stops you," she added, snorting. The dragon turned a crimson eye upward, watching the stars, and chuckled. "Any of you. You're a stubborn people. You'll think of something, or you'll fail, and either way we'll be home and all we'll have is memories. The world continues to turn, Knight, with or without raptors, men, or dragons."

Indira smiled despite herself, trying to quiet a chuckle. "I know what you meant," she assured her incorporeal friend, inclining her head to listen to the music. She could barely make it out, but.... "I think, however, that you are right. There is something too...familiar about it. I can almost make out words I should not be hearing, but cannot quite understand all of it." She shook her head, glancing at the others. "I do not think I can sharpen my senses further without...attracting attention. You may be right: we must simply be ready to...bump...if necessary. I shall watch your back if you watch mine, and we shall both try to keep Corbin out of trouble?"
