  1. "That's...a few more than I was hoping were around," Gaian Knight admitted, grimacing down at the shots Thoughtspeed had gotten. A whole nest....Fleur would kill me, even if it could be done. "Nothing's ever simple, is it? As depressing as this whole thing is, I'd love to know more about them. Heck, Tiamat could probably talk to one, if we could manage it without risk to the crew you brought here. ...heh, and if we could convince her to not just declare herself Dragon Queen of the Lizard People." "Joking," he added, glancing up. "...probably."
  2. Gaian Knight/Tiamat >Back in the Day (6) 6 posts Dragonfly >By All His Engines (3) 3 posts Wraith >Necklace of Ropes (1) >Night Rings (2) 1+2= 3 posts Ref point to Dragonfly, please.
  3. "I am not dead, but I am very difficult to kill," Wraith noted, with some measure of amusement. Not that the situation was particularly light-hearted, but Kimber was nothing if not an expert in brightening the mood. "Though I am quite certain that they are likely to try." She was quiet for a moment, humming quietly as she regarded their...prisoner of war? "I do believe that we would be better-off leaving you here until we are done. Imprisoning you in our home - or securing you passage to a new one, without people or resources to exploit - would take time, and you appear quite secure here."
  4. "Knowing more would definitely be good," Gaian Knight agreed, watching the raptor's practiced hunting habits with a certain level of fascination. He had to wonder what it - beings like it - would have become if not wiped out. What kind of society did they have? "I'm going to tell you now that I'm not keen on the 'let them die' option. If we'd known ahead of time we could have stayed away, but we're here now and theoretically in a position to do something about it. Just letting a bunch of thinking, feeling creatures get wiped out - by no fault of their own - doesn't sit right, even if that's how things would play out normally."
  5. Gaian Knight lacked the advantage of super-speed, but he still made good time. In fact, it looked like he'd headed in Paige's direction without bothering to reach for a decent source of rock: it was stable enough, but the sandstone platform he skimmed in on was a bit more sand and a bit less stone toward the bottom and edges, trailing a bit as he flew. "That's...okay. That's definitely something," he quietly agreed, very carefully coming down to earth...in what was, hopefully, the most quiet and non-threatening manner possible for a monkey that just rode in on a flying rock. "This is going to complicate things. I suppose it's too much to hope that he's the only one here?"
  6. Dragonfly had been wondering what, exactly, those flames were supposed to do - and she found out the hard way when one finally managed to eat through her shield and claw at her mind. Said mind was no stranger to assault, though: those metaphorical claws found purchase mostly on metaphorical scar tissue, the attack leaving her just off-kilter enough to throw her response off-target but not nearly enough to take her out of the fight. "Alright," she noted aloud, backing off a couple of feet and reevaluating. "Psychic demon cyborgs. New. Novel, even. Change of tactics, maybe...."
  7. Ouch. Will Save vs. Demon 2 (1d20 + 8=14) Normally that'd be really ouch, but Dragonfly has that lovely half-immunity to psionic effects; against a DC20 rather than a DC26, that bruises & stuns her, rather than...worse. I really, really need to update her sheet one of these days.... She'll spend one of her two remaining HP to shake the stun and respond in kind. Once more, with feeling! Ranged Attack Roll vs. Demon 2 (blast; Master Plan +2) (1d20 + 11 + 2=20) Bleh, don't think that'll do it.
  8. For one? For both? Unmodified D20 roll. (1d20=1, 1d20=15) ...ahahaha. In fine form today, GK. GK: 1 Tiamat: 15
  9. "The thing I love about sand is that it's just a perfect sample of so much in the area." Gaian Knight was in full-on professor mode, kneeling on the beach with a camera on him - if he had to be on film, he could at least make it educational. "Sure, it's mostly silica - anywhere you go, really. Quartz is a lot harder than most of what's out there, and it doesn't react much with its environment, so it sticks around when other stuff gets washed away or ground to dust. You take that out, though..." A clump of sand pulled off the ground, splitting itself into smaller floating globules of earth at one hand's casual gesture. "...and you get a sample of what was available when it was made; local rock formations, ground-down seashells, it's really a wonderful...ah. You may want to catch that." The earthmover casually pointed down-beach, where his red-headed companion was wreathed in flame, a conflagration that left the beach steaming as it revealed an entirely different type of tyrant lizard...who shook herself and, laughing, snapped her teeth at the little scavenger dinosaurs. "There are other samples to be had, of course." Gaian Knight looked amused, but not in the least surprised, continuing on when the cameras had gotten their eyeful. "I'll probably get a few deeper earth pieces later; you're welcome to join me when I do. If you bring some lights you'll get a pretty good look at the layers that formed right under our feet before the impact had a chance to disturb them - once we're back in modern times, a comparison to a similar trip in the present day will show you just how much force comes out of an impact like this one."
  10. "Hahaha!" Tiamat split a grin like a gash full of knives, teeth briefly losing their human semblance as she delighted in the fear of the little dinosaur. "I like this place already! The native creatures know their better in any form." Gaian Knight chuckled, but his attention was elsewhere - he'd lost his connection to the earth during their brief trip back in time, and breathed a deep sigh of relief when it came back upon arrival. "You know, for some reason I think a little bit of me expected the world to feel old," he chuckled, plucking a handful of sand up and letting it run down between his fingers...and then right back up, arcing through the air into a blob over his hand. "But I should have expected it to be so young, relatively speaking. And clean! I might have to take a few samples before we have to leave."
  11. "So, no, then," Dragonfly deadpanned. She'd been more than read for return fire from the demon; the world bent into a large, circular shield at her fingertips, sending the incoming attack skittering away from its mark like it was being pulled in a dozen directions at once. Which, to be fair, it was. Unfortunately for her attacker, the heroine's shield didn't work both ways: the bolt of twisted space she launched back at it had no problems making it through and eating its way toward its target. "Not talkative. Good points, bad points. Less annoying, no evil speeches. Do kind of miss the banter, though. ....may be spending too much time with girlfriend's family."
  12. Welp, time to keep the blast train rolling. Really ought to give Dragonfly a few more varied combat options next time I rebuild her. Ranged Attack Roll vs. Demon 2 (blast, Master Plan +2) (1d20 + 11 + 2=14) Nat 1? Ow. Screw it, that's what HP are for. Ranged Attack REROLL vs. Demon 2 (blast, Master Plan +2) (1d20 + 11 + 2=23) That is not a crit, but it does get +10 for a 33. DC26 Toughness, and Dragonfly is down to 2HP.

Indira cocked her head, something at the edge of even her extraordinary hearing pulling her attention toward the cave. They'd been looking for something out of place, and mysterious music certainly qualified. Especially if it was coming out of a 'hole in the ground'. "A hole in the ground," she repeated aloud, her expression inscrutable as her sunglasses darkened for a moment, as if her eyes had turned black in the space between blinks. "The story is old and may be incomplete," the young woman pointed out, turning her head back to the others. "The water present would not be sufficient for an above-ground pool; even if it could collect somewhere, its presence would be seasonal at best. Underground it would be easier to retain, however; the stream going into that cave is very old, and hidden from the sun it would be less likely to evaporate and could be closer to the....ah. The-" She paused, frowning, briefly muttering something in another language in an attempt to remember the translation. At least she knew the Hindi term.... "The...it is the level of water in the earth. But it would protect the pool, and help maintain it."
  14. "Ah - my ceiling's pretty much when I'm high enough to have a hard time breathing," Gaian Knight replied, shrugging, "though I haven't pushed it that far very often. Passing out and falling from that height really isn't any fun. Tiamat needs wind under her wings, so her limit's probably a little lower than that. You might be better off with your aerial camera, though; I try to not take passengers too high up, and if you suggest riding Tiamat up--" Tiamat had taken only a glance into the mirror before handing it off to Crimson Tiger. Mention of riding dragons caught her attention, though, and she turned her head to offer Gaian Knight and Richard a flat, raised eyebrow. "...ah, don't. It's my sincere recommendation that you not suggest that. If it isn't an emergency, anyone over twenty tends to get a long speech about how she isn't a beast of burden."
  15. "I'm afraid I don't know much about it," Gaian Knight admitted, grimacing - he'd left his face cloth down around his neck as a sacrifice to comfort, but his gaze was still be-goggled as he watched the movie play. "I don't mean that as an insult against your program - I'm sure it's just fine. I simply don't catch a lot of television these days...never did really grab me." "I'm more a theatre person, myself," his companion absently commented, though in response to the subsequent skeptical looks - real or imagined - the statuesque redhead bared a bit of fang and frowned. "...what!? I can enjoy culture. I'm full of culture. Shut up." "....so I'm afraid we pretty much only know what was in the packet," he continued, chuckling, "and what we've overheard around your talent. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this isn't a normal thing for you, though? Visiting the dinosaur age?"

    Notice Check (1d20 + 15=28) Survival Check (1d20 + 10=30) Wisdom Check (1d20 + 1=6) ....eh. Wisdom is overrated. ¬.¬
  17. The world bent inside-out as Dragonfly teleported into the building, placing herself a relatively safe distance from her discovered pack of demons while her armor spun up into combat mode. "Going to be honest," she greeted, hurling a bolt of twisted space at one of them while sizing them up with her own eyes. Something made her glad her suit protected her from unpleasant odors. "Still not actually sure if you're up my alley. Not big on demons, but might know more about your...modifications, with context. Don't suppose you feel like sharing?"
  18. Happy birthday, Geez3r.
  19. Move action: Teleport into the building so that she has proper line of sight. Standard action: Return the favor to Demon 2: Ranged Attack Roll vs. Demon 2 (blast; Master Plan +2) (1d20 + 11 + 2=26) Assuming that hits, it's a DC26 Toughness save vs. damage.

Indira sighed a bit at the slope, watching Corbin descend with the oddly bulky grace of...she wasn't entirely sure what the Earth equivalent was. She'd heard goats were fairly agile? Regardless, bipedal bodies were just so awful for climbing - all stiff and awkwardly segmented with a high center of balance. Still, she wasn't without her advantages, in spite of the body she was stuck with. She waited for Kimber before picking her way down the slope with the fluid, self-assured grace of someone who was secretly a bit stronger than they should be and could shift their inner mass around at will. "Are you alright?" the young alien quietly asked as they made their way downhill. "You seem distracted."
  22. Tiamat responded to the attack by sweeping her wings to carry her back and away...only to dig her claws into the pavement and surge back forward, diving head-first into the rest of the giant's barrage in a brazen lunge at his head. Weathering what blows she couldn't duck didn't seem to do her any harm, but it did at least manage to kill most of her momentum - the claw she caught him with didn't find much purchase before she had to bank away. "I suppose your devotion to your duties would be admirable," she chuckled, trying to gain a little more height. Fighting things bigger than her, but not much bigger, was always awkward. "If your duties were admirable, perhaps. I'm pretty sure we're supposed to offer you one last chance to surrender before we put you out of our misery; please don't take it. We still have some stress to work off."
  23. Ah, well. Them's the dice. Tiamat'll Charge, then, and hit him high while Sekhmet hits him low. Melee Attack Roll vs. Hekatonkheires (Charge +2) (1d20 + 7 + 2=22) Assuming that hits, it's a DC30 toughness save.
  24. Tooth and claw from above and below! Just not the giant's day. Intimidate Check vs. Hekatonkheires (Startle; Fast Task) (1d20 + 22=24) ...ouch. Might actually wait to see how that one plays out before rolling the attack.
  25. Reflex Save vs. Hekatonkheires, DC18 (1d20 + 8=22) Awfully agile for something so big! Toughness Save vs. Hekatonkheires, DC19 (1d20 + 15=24) I guess there's a reason why folks always wanted dragonscale armor.
