"We're here to help her half-royalness do her slumming," Tiamat rather (un)helpfully supplied, with the lopsided grin of someone who had a history with either the law or people in chainmail. Or both. "We were asked," Gaian Knight corrected, turning his head slightly to shoot a glance in his disrespectful partner's direction, "to join Canadian Shield in her journey down here, to lend assistance however we can. We don't mean to cause any trouble and we don't make a habit out of interfering with the politics of other groups, but it sounds like things are getting increasingly, ah...." He paused, gesturing at the cracked archway that Fleur had wonderfully shored up. "...increasingly volatile. Too much of this sort of thing in the wrong place could spell disaster for both our peoples."

Teagan would have been perfectly happy to slouch back in her chair and watch Sekhmet flirt and/or feed some ape his own ugly jacket; under normal circumstances she could have sat there with a beer and gotten a good laugh and some vicarious satisfaction out of it. That last bit caught her ear, though, and with only a small amount of effort she hauled herself up onto her feet and shoved her hands into her pockets. That hadn't been English. She wasn't exactly sure what language it was exactly, but it sounded Greek and they'd known who Sekhmet was. That sort of thing never ended well. "Whaddya know. You're famous."

"They're boys," Mara wryly observed, though she couldn't quite disguise her smile as she looked down at Yolanda. "Fairly sure they're always weird. Part of being a boy, maybe - testosterone poisoning. Tragic. Science will cure it one day." "And it's all true," she insisted, holding a finger up for emphasis. "Especially the stuff that isn't. And relax - social situation. Not your boss here. Won't fire you for good or bad jokes at my expense ....probably," she added, dropping the finger as a grin tugged at one corner of her mouth. "Maybe. Seventy, eighty percent sure. Statistically unlikely to impact next performance review."

"Hive probably has facility-wide surveillance and distributed intelligence across its constituent parts. Of course hive knows," Dragonfly noted, in the tone of voice of someone extremely unhappy but determined to not let it affect her judgement. "Would wager we cannot move anymore without it at least partially tracking us, short of random-walking teleport - and will not do that except under duress, due to power requirements, needing to pocket both of you, and vulnerability to ambush or violent result of teleporting into solid matter. So, could carve holes in walls, or could take corridors and deal with threats as they come while we figure out how to fix things without nuking site from orbit." "Alternatively," she dryly noted as she headed back toward the door, "Find Fenris, get him out, then nuke from orbit. Need to save him from himself so we can be very angry at him later."

Wraith was too busy retracting her many tendrils to dodge the incoming fire; it was the best she could to to simply reclaim her mass and weather the storm of lasers without dropping her 'Tengu' disguise. Fortunately, they couldn't do much more than singe her feathers. Not that she was keen to continue weathering that storm, much less watch her not-so-metallic teammates do so. She was off running as soon as Foreshadow was throwing his talons, and as the last of them hit the glass she launched herself into the air on surprisingly powerful hind legs to add a talon of her own. One mighty, clawed 'Tengu' arm slammed into the glass at the center of Foreshadow's cracks, turning a once-solid barrier into a cloud of shards; Wraith hit the floor of the other side on all four limbs and cast her three-eyed gaze around the room.

Wraith shapeshifts: Speed 1 (10mph) [1pp] Wall-Crawling 1 [2pp] Leaping 1 (x2; Running Long Jump 32') [1pp] Strike 5 (Feats: Mighty) 6pp She charges the window with a leap, using Wall-Crawling to grab hold to the frame/wall. Melee Attack Roll vs. Window (Strike; Charge +2, Power Attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 11 + 2 - 2=31) ....well! I think she'll just go ahead and put that crit straight into the toughness DC; DC26 (base) + 5 (crit) + 2 (power attack) = DC33 tou save. Wraith has no dodge bonus and is at a -2 defense penalty on top of that.

"Haha! Now that's an appellation worth having!" Teagan raised a woefully empty bottle up in an approving toast, laughing all the while. "And hell yes, you act. Destiny and helplessness are for wyverns and house cats. Greater beings choose. You grab that loom of fate and sharpen your claws on it, or somethin'." She paused and then waved a dismissing hand, recognizing but clearly not bothered by her flop of a metaphor. "You know what I mean. You want some, you go get yourself some!"

"Yes, I agree; we should perhaps be leaving ourselves," Indira suggested, getting to her feet with fluid grace. She was still trying to keep an eye out, but had given up on actively searching their surroundings - she doubted their lives were easy enough to be able to spot their prey in a crowd. "Rojas' idea may be sound - if we head north into a valley we will be further from people - hostages and eyes." "It could also encourage our prey to attack us," she mused as they made their way out, reflexively casting an eye on the places she would lie in wait if she was doing the hunting. "That could be useful."

Indira opened her mouth to reply, but her words died in her throat as she sensed someone - something? - attempt to poke at her mind. It wasn't the first time it was happened, and she was grimly aware that it wouldn't be the last, but she'd never quite gotten used to it; such abilities were even less common among her people than they were among the humans, and the psychic intrusion never failed to weird her out. Her sunglasses darkened for a moment - like the eyes behind them had been replaced with featureless black - as she quietly glanced around the room. "Our minds are being touched," she warned, her voice low but even. "It would appear that we do not have to wait for long; something may have taken an interest in your mention of Corbin's ring."

The next boulder to fly through the air didn't make it very far - forewarned and unnoticed, Gaian Knight reached out with one glowing hand and simply plucked it out of the air halfway between its creator and its intended destination. It hung still for half a moment before splintering apart with a sharp and - hopefully - attention-grabbing SCRACK, the subsequent pieces gently curving their way over toward the newly-arrived heroes. "Not to interrupt," he apologized, slightly out of breath, "but I was hoping there was a better way to solve this than bringing the archway down on our heads. It's a really nice archway and I for one prefer not being buried under it."

GK switches to his Move Object 22 array slot and counters the next person who attempts to, ah, Earth at someone else. Counter Roll (Move Object 22) vs. next applicable earth power (1d20 + 22=33) Not the best, but ah, well. Even if it fails it'll at least get someone's attention.

Wraith's three-eyed gaze shifted between the Meta-Grue's fearsome shape-shifted weapons and his wounds, and when his gaze went up to look for the source of the announcer's voice so did hers. She'd have bitten her lip, if she'd had one to bite (or teeth to bite it with); the alien-in-disguise had a mind full of intense dislike for their situation, but a duty to be there - intense dislike for their opponent, but an instinct that this fight, this way, was so unbelievably wrong that it overrode just about anything else. Fine, then. Her allies favored precision and agility over raw strength - if they were to cut this fight short, the least she could do would be to help them out. Settling down onto all four limbs, the 'Tengu's' body exploded into a mass of writhing, segmented tendrils, each appearing from between metallic feathers to bind itself around any reachable limb or surface their enemy had available. She dug into the ground with four sets of talons, trying to anchor their mindless foe and hold him in place for the rest to deal with. Quickly, she hoped; moving that much mass around left her effectively hollow and she wasn't keen on testing the limits of her strength while trying to maintain the 'Tengu' disguise this way.

Other folks seem to be having better luck than Wraith on the whole doing-damage thing. Tactics change! Wraith shapeshifts: Elongation 4 (50') [3pp] Additional Limbs 6 (+50 limbs) [6pp] Normally I'd go for some Super-Strength to round that out, but it's expensive and the Meta-Grue, as many powerhouses do, probably has a pretty good grapple check. Final base grapple bonus: 11 (melee attack bonus) + 6 (str bonus) + 4 (Elongation) + 6 (Additional Limbs) = +27. I eyeball Meta-Grue's as somewhere between +20 and +30, depending on how AA's boosted his stats and how much growth and elongation he's using (or is able to use, collared and all). Decent odds! Melee Attack Roll vs. Meta-Grue (grapple; +2/-2 All-Out Attack), DC19 (1d20 + 11 + 2=30) That'll do. Opposed Grapple Check vs. Meta-Grue (grapple +27; +2/-2 All-Out Attack) (1d20 + 27 + 2=47) Yessssssss. Metal hugs! Regardless of the outcome, Wraith is at -2 defense until her next turn. Her ability to interpose, sadly, is probably going to be somewhat limited; hopefully it won't be needed!

Tengu shook herself free of wooden debris, lurching up onto powerful legs and loping back into the fight. Whatever Wraith had done while forming her 'disguise' certainly seemed to have helped: the arm that had been clenched in the Meta-Grue's claw held superficial scratches in its matte grey surface, but was otherwise untouched. She took full advantage of Night Owl's distractions, charging in to drive a metal fist straight into the alien's body...and, unfortunately, didn't seem to have any more success than the mind-controlled alien had with her. Three black eyes narrowed in frustration as she backed away a step. If this fight didn't start turning around soon, they were going to need other options.

Moar punchin'! Melee Attack Roll vs. Meta-Grue, DC19 (Strike; Aid +2, Power Attack -2/+2, All-Out Attack +2/-2): 1d20+11+2-2+2 20 That should do. DC26 base, +2 Power Attack is DC28 Toughness vs. damage for Mr. Grue. Wraith has a -2 penalty to her defense until her next turn.

Dragonfly had frankly been hoping that there either wouldn't be any combat-viable drones yet, or that it would be longer before their group encountered any; being found now, so close to an entrance that hadn't been properly guarded, implied some awful things about their enemy's ability to track them and respond to threats. Fortunately for the attackers, they weren't the most immediate source of her ire. Harrier - 'Caradoc' - had already done plenty of damage; she settled for throwing out a hand and sending a bolt of twisted space past the speaking drone's head. Not her best shot ever, but it'd hopefully work as a warning shot. "Then explain," she demanded.

Ranged Attack Roll vs. Drone 1 (blast) (1d20 + 11=15) Well, that's just terrible. Ah, well.
-
Initiative Roll (Speed of Thought) (1d20 + 7=23) Dragonfly should have 4 HP, including the one just awarded.
