  1. The plates of Dragonfly's armor flexed a bit at the mention of people-impersonating drones, briefly shifting like the carapace of an angered insect. bad memories "Surveillance or not, need everything you have from before you lost contact. All of it," she emphasized, turning her helmet's glowing eyes to peer emotionlessly at the aide. "Don't care how trivial or secret. Miss Americana and I are very good at processing data. Need to know what we're dealing with. Maps wouldn't hurt, either, especially if they include infrastructure - power lines and vents." She tapped a finger against her forearm, untouched by the climate as she turned her gaze back toward the mountain. "...also, have to ask: not any mining or drilling equipment, is there? Assuming whatever it is wants out - large assumption, not unreasonable - might be trying to make its own exit. It having to build from scratch would buy time."
  2. Teagan glanced sideways at Sekhmet, one red eye sizing the goddess up for...duplicity, maybe? Whatever it was, Teagan evidently didn't find it, and she shrugged. "A dragon's real name is long and old, and there's power in it. But 'Teagan' is good enough for common use. As for champions...well." She shrugged again, snorting as they turned a corner. "They're humans, most of them. They play at being gods and knights and kings, but then they want to pretend they're really just common folk and try to blend back in. They think of the fancy clothes and the evil-fighting as the disguise. I guess it works - nice to not attract attention sometimes, y'know. Gods walking amongst the mortals in mortal guise or whatever." She paused at a doorway - nothing spectacular-looking, just one more business on the street with a sign out front offering lies and libations - and shifted her bag to her other hand so she could toss the door open. "Though a lot of gods seem to have done that for kinda crap reasons. You gods could be real jerks sometimes."
  3. Tiamat - Teagan, now, really - came out of the room next to Sekhmet's only a minute later, having had the distinct advantage of familiarity with modern clothing, even if she'd had to double back through the store to find a few things. Her jeans were darker and boot-cut, the latter feature rather helpfully accommodating her costume's footwear. The thick leather belt likely wasn't necessary to keep the jeans up, but it at least helped keep her worn charcoal t-shirt down; besides, some manner of faded, scuffed Celtic design had been pressed into the leather at some point, twisting its way around and through the double line of eyelets that wound their way to the two-tongued buckle, and that pleased her. Her crown finding, though, was undoubtedly a dark, crimson leather jacket, its red surface scuffed and faded a bit with use but still in decent shape and a surprisingly good fit. Somewhere, she thought to herself as she glanced at the zippers and heavy material in a mirror, was a biker with excellent taste and terrible luck. Their loss. She pulled her hair down into a more conventional, muted ponytail, sizing Sekhmet up. "Not bad," she observed, picking up an old ex-military bag of some flavor and tossing it over her shoulder as she led the goddess to a cashier to pay for both of their new...disguises, she supposed. "You'll get used to all the buttons. Try to keep your skin out of the zippers, though. The little toothy things," she amended, absently flicking the one on her jacket as she put her change away. "They're everywhere; some mortal was entirely too clever for their own good." "Alright," the amazonian dragoness announced, getting her bearings as they stepped back out onto the street. She got her bearings for a moment before setting off, trying to imagine the area as it looked from above. "Time to try to go get drunk."
  4. Tiamat snorted at the novelty of being the more experienced mythological being thrust into the so-called modern world. "Mortals don't change that much," she offered, directing them into a second-hand clothing shop that had seen better days. Her gaze as they made their way around - apparently oblivious to the attention of anyone else there - wasn't so much an eye for fine fashion as it was for practicality and a bit of vanity. "They're all types individually, stupid and dangerous in groups, and they're way too busy trying to fit as much as they can into the handful of years they get. Sometimes one of them decides they're better than the others, and they're usually wrong." "Here," she said, dropping a couple outfits' worth of clothes into Sekhmet's arms. "They aren't hand-spun cotton but they're clean and around your size, and you've got some options. You can get changed in a room in the back, if you don't want to give mortals a show they don't deserve. I'll be right behind you."
  5. "Hah! I know a few," Tiamat conceded, barking out another laugh as the humans fled. She very much doubted that Gaian Knight would have approved - she could almost hear that concerned and over-patient tone now - but she wasn't in the mood to care. "Can't help you with all of 'em, but there are a couple half-decent bars around. Hell, one of 'em has mead! Almost makes you feel like you're home again, c'mon." She set off down the street, confident in the goddess' ability to keep up. "<Mugged,> by the way," she shot over her shoulder, drawing on her linguistic gifts to provide an effective - if crude - equivalent word. "Mugged. They thought you were trying to rob them. And speaking of which, we're gonna need clothes." She paused for a moment, glancing around at the surrounding shops and trying to remember if there was anything nearby worth patronizing. It was always so much easier to navigate by air.... "Nothing kills the fun of a bar trip like the whole hero outfit thing. Half of 'em get too afraid of you to pick a fight and the other half gets all polite and crap. Lemme know if you see a store with something you like. Something cheap you like. My hoard is in my other pair of pants."
  6. "If you want trouble, you've got it," came a voice from the alleyway, accompanied by the sound of cracking knuckles. "'cos I'm in no mood to---ah! Ahahaha!" The moment Tiamat had stepped close enough to the street to see the poor couple's "attacker" she doubled up laughing, lips pulled back over too-sharp teeth as she shook with amusement. "HaHAhahaha! Really?" She straightened, spreading her arms in friendly but rather mocking praise. "<Hail to the Daughter of the Sun, whose breath spawns the desert, or whatever,>" she announced in quite good Egyptian, still grinning. "I don't think you're gonna get much violence out of these two," she advised, gesturing at the unfortunate civilians. "Though you never know. I bet the talker's got some fight in him."
  7. "Suppose it's to his credit that the problem's contained. As far as we know." One of the long, thick earpieces on Dragonfly's helmet - a recent addition, apparently - rotated a bit, adjusting itself to better look for radio signals that simply weren't to be found. probably encouraging - no breach - or stealthier than expected - mmh The heroine stood with her metal-clad arms crossed, looking at the mountain as half-guessed, half-researched schematics and designs flickered across her helmet's displays. She'd responded quickly, for all her characteristic grumpiness; while she didn't necessarily have a vested interest in KST, she'd been a technology-based hero for a bit too long to think that the problems would stop where they were. "Filled a mountain with dangerous, badly-understood...things, and something went wrong. Nobody involved watches movies? Video games? No? Almost as bad as the government." She paused for a moment, tilting her head to the side. "....almost. Government probably would have tried to blow it up by now."
  8. Not that it's extremely likely, given that they're still outside the mountain, but are there radio signals to be noticed at this point for those with the appropriate super-senses?
  9. "I could eat him." "You can't eat him." "You really aren't any fun at all. You're quite boring, in fact. Has anybody ever told you that you're boring?" Gaian Knight put his fingertips to his forehead and sighed, directing his platform of rock across the rooftops. "It isn't about fun, Tiamat. We're out here to make a difference. Sometimes that's a big battle against some kind of robot army, but sometimes it's a street gang that's starting up trouble, and to stop them we need to catch them doing something we can take them in for. And they're still people, so no, you can't eat them." Tiamat looked down at the streets and alleyways below, curling her lip. "He'd taste terrible, I suppose. Maybe we can free the one from yesterday and find leader of the other group, and they could fight it out. We can arrest the winner, and then go back to doing useful, interesting things." The geokinetic hero was quiet for a moment at that, clearly wrestling with his growing headache and restrained frustration. "You don't...." he started, bringing the platform down to ground level. "I know you don't mean that, and that's really the worst thing of-" "The worst thing is that you have us looking for would-be big-shots instead of fighting actual big-shots," Tiamat insisted, growling. "You're bigger than that. You're better than that. Let your constables handle the gang members. You can find worthier-" "Just because they can doesn't mean it's a waste of time to help. You've been itching for a fight ever since that last one took you out, and you're blinded by-" "He did not 'take me out'," Tiamat snarled. "In your little tunnels I had no room to leave this pathetic little human form. You don't even...fine. Fine!" She stepped off onto the street, shoving her hands into her pants pockets and striding off. "You don't need me for your little gang chase. You have fun wasting your time on kids with knives."
  10. Fixed up a little formatting, but otherwise: Approved!

Gaian Knight followed Shield's instructions dutifully, keeping sharp acceleration to a minimum for the sake of anybody still standing. The prolonged subterranean trip had set a few small rocks orbiting his cross-legged form, but he didn't seem to be paying them much mind. "Do you know anything about the high-profile folks we'll be running into?" he asked, after a moment's thought. "You mentioned Laccolinth, but it couldn't hurt to know who the other movers and shakers are before they start, ah, moving and shaking. Forewarned is forearmed, and all that."

"I admit I can see the appeal of his platform," Gaian Knight admitted, though his eyes - literal or metaphorical - didn't move away from directing them ever onward. "I imagine the Igneous and the surface world would have a great deal to share, for the benefit of both sides." "Kingdoms have fallen for better intentions." In what dim light was offered on their subterranean journey, Tiamat looked briefly...old, the pupils of her gently glowing red eyes pulling into lizard-like vertical slits. "It all sounds good in speeches and sometimes it's true. And sometimes it's lies. But so often it's children who don't know what war and real leadership are, and old men too stubborn and afraid to change. But, anyway," she added, pulling a grimace, "as shocking as it might be, I think I'm going to vote for as much diplomacy as possible on this one. It's a lot less fun, but being stuck underground when some idiot brings the earth down on top of us sounds even less fun than that."
  13. Ooogh, not a good month. Need to get back into the swing of things. Gaian Knight >Molehills (4) 4 posts Dragonfly 0 posts Wraith 0 posts Ref point to Dragonfly.
  14. Corrected the notation on the attack bonus - 'Ranged' is a little too broad, as it also would've applied to, say, anything you threw! APPROVED
  15. General Touched up a couple of formatting things for you. Nothing big, just a power missing its pp cost and a typo or two, and a whole mess of font tags (though I left the ones in your DC Block, as they actually make it look quite nice!). Combat Dex +5 + Improved Init 2 (+8) = Intiative +13, not +14. It might be worth listing your Attack bonus as "Attack: +10 Base / +14 Blast" for ease of reference, since you have an attack-shifted power in your array. It'll save you and your GMs a little time when you have to look back at the sheet for something (and oh, believe me, you will!). Knockback is at least partly dependent on your Defensive Roll, so it should be noted as -5/-3. Saving Throws Dex +5 and 9pp paid should be a +14 Reflex save bonus, not a +15. Wis +0 and 6pp paid should be a +6 Will save bonus, not a +7. Skills Skill bonuses seem off; for instance, Acrobatics is Dex-linked, and with 12 ranks and a +5 Dex bonus the character should have a total skill bonus of +17, not +14. Might want to run down your list of skills again and re-calculate all bonuses now that your ability scores are set.

  17. Yeah, the Dodge Bonus/Dodge Focus thing is a little detail, but it'll save people confusion in the future. :approved: EDIT: AAAAAAH they took away the :approved: emote, what is this world coming to. APPROVED
  18. Looks like you're double-counting the powers on the Vehicle; you may have included them in the EP cost for features (9 features + 6 powers) and in the final tally (29ep of overall stuff + 6 powers).
  19. From UP: "This somewhat odd power is the ability to change the colors of things: making an apple blue or purple rather than red or green, for example, or an orange... well, something other than orange. You can transform the colors of objects occupying a cube five-feet on a side per power rank; mobile targets get a Reflex save to avoid being “colorized†(no effect on a successful save). The changes in coloration last as long as your power does." Reminders about what save a given power has are probably best saved for the DC Block, I'd think. Per the note on Rene's own sheet, "GM control of creature type and actions", and per UP, "Your summoned minions have a fanatical attitude and devotion to you." This, to me, means that a given summon will always do what is best for Rene...from that creature's perspective. A happy dream gnome probably just wants to be helpful and would likely always listen. A dark dream genie might think the best way to help Rene would be to torture his enemies, unless expressly told not to. A dream-eating nightmare monster might believe it knows what's best for Rene better than Rene does, so as long as it believes it's serving his interests faithfully and devotedly, what does it care what he says? He'll learn in time, and thank the monster when he's older and wiser. Uncontrolled specifically removes all control over a power from the player's hands, outside of the basic effect and the constraints thereon. The GM - quoting the book - "decides when and how the power works". If Rene has control over the creature then Uncontrolled isn't much of a flaw, and would just boil down to "I want the GM to design a 150pp sheet for me to help me win". Fair enough, and works for me. Good clarification! Rene Powers I count 16+3+24+66+1+44+2+5+2= 163pp of powers, not 164 (nor 167, which is what the tally at the top of the Powers section would come out to), so Rene has another point or so to spare. Deadbeat Combat Looks like you dropped his Grapple bonus down a rank and then got Super-Strength...which would have pushed it back up again! Str +5 + Attack +6 + Super Strength 1 = Grapple +12. Powers I now count 113pp of powers; this puts Deadbeat over-budget, unfortunately.
  20. Rene Skills Rene's Charisma-linked skills seem to be +1 bonus higher than they ought to be; I'm guessing there was a previous revision of this rebuild that had +3 Cha? Equipment Headquarter's a bit under-cost. Breakdown: Size: Medium (0ep) Toughness: 5 (0ep) + 5 (1ep) Features: Arcane Laboratory (1ep), Library (1ep), Living Space (1ep), Security System (DC20, 1ep; DC+5, 1ep; DC+5, 1ep), Arcane Workshop (1ep) [8ep] Powers For my own curiosity, what will you be doing with the +Precise on Obscure? Pretty sure it's legal, but having a hard time getting my tired brain to think of an application for it on this sort of power. Concealment 2 (+Area, Burst) has a base radius of 10'; Progression 7, by my counting, pushes that up to 2000', not 5000'. Color Control, as written, operates based on area, not weight, and already has a reflex save. If you want a weight-based power with an alternate save of reflex, you'll need to use the base Transform. Dream Travel 12 with two feats would cost 14pp, not 12; thus, the Dream Control + Dream Travel power slot in the Dream Array woudl cost 53pp, not 51. Still within budget, but the notation's off. If I were your GM, I would look forward - with salivatory delight - to turning that Summon 10 against you. Fanatical + Uncontrolled has some unfortunate implications for the nastier dream creatures, and given that it's Uncontrolled I'd be inclined to both not give you an HP for being unable to deactivate the power and not let you summon Deadbeat to help (because it would give you two Heroic summons, which is a no-no). Fair warning. Math is off in the overall pp total for Powers; each individual power seems correct, though. This also means that the final pp tally for Rene's sheet is off. Deadbeat (love the name) General Looks like your sheet formatting went wonky; extra newlines and your array's naked of our lovely formatting bars. Combat Grapple bonus looks like it's off by one. Am I missing a +1 bonus from somewhere? Skills Might want to give the skill bonuses another look. A couple of the final bonuses are wonky; similar to Rene, I'm guessing there were different ability mods here at some point and not everything got revised. Powers Emotion Control 10 (+3 extras, -3 flaws, +2 feats, -1 drawback) comes out to 21pp, not 20. The Mind Control power is mathematically correct, but as Deadbeat's own sheet demonstrates, the undead are almost entirely Fortitude-immune. A Mind Control that's fortitude-based won't affect them. Teleport is within-budget for the array at 20pp, but incorrectly noted as costing 28pp. The final pp tally for powers is incorrect; 1+1+30+18+25+14+12+4+4+2=111pp, not 107pp. Totals Even accounting for the pp difference, above, Deadbeat is well under-budget, at something like 172/180pp.
  21. Somehow missed your reply. Combat Knockback is (Impervious Tou + 1/2 Non-Impervious Tou + Misc. Modifiers). Looks like you're using full tou for your calculations, there, instead of half. Flat-Footed defense is half your non-dodge-focused defense, rounded up. Cobweb won't have much, but they won't have 0! Feats Looks like you've labelled Dodge Focus as Dodge Bonus.
  22. Oh, goodness. I never saw you reply to this or Cobweb. Equipment Vehicle still needs a little touching up, I'm afraid. You get some free Str and Tou from the size increase, so you're over-paying for each - Str 40 would be 2ep, Tou 19 would be 10ep. We have a house rule restricting Improved Critical to 2 ranks, which I'm afraid your Dueling Sword exceeds.

Gaian Knight raised an eyebrow at the friendly and unspoken challenge, but he seemed game; the hero bowed again, spreading faintly glowing hands out to the sides. "With your permission, of course - it is your territory, as it were." The ground the group was standing on detached from its surroundings - gently, so as not to overly disturb the plants (a habit learned from spending so much time around Fleur) - and curled up a bit around the edge to form a vaguely circular riding platform. No sooner had Tiamat muttered something dire about being underground than the soil beneath them silently yawned open, the platform quickly accelerating down and toward the mountains. "I am afraid you'll have to help me navigate a bit," their conductor politely requested, looking sightlessly forward along their path as the world closed back up behind them. "I can keep us out of hazards, but I only have a general idea of where we're headed."
