Active Threads of SHAME (forgotten November posting)

"Ah, jeeze....hey, Knight!" Gaian Knight looked up to see Tiamat's head poking over the edge of the hole - she looked worried, which was never, ever a good sign. "And...person I don't know. Whatever. There're a lotta hurt people up here, but that's the least of it - the whole city's gone nuts. Doesn't look like this was just Star Knight: half the city's on fire or in the middle of getting smashed apart." "That's...dang. Okay," he replied, rubbing the back of his neck as he took that in. He didn't seem put out by Myrmidon's sudden appearance, at least - it looked like they could use all the help they could get. Alright. Priorities. "Hopefully emergency services get here soon - thanks. Worst case, we could probably evacuate the building - all we need is a hospital that's still working in all of this mess."

[bg=#555555]"Don't need solid fuel for relatively small payloads,"[/bg] Dragonfly pointed out, impatiently tapping a finger against her leg. [bg=#555555]"Plenty of methods, but modern space plane designs would do - multiple groups trying to push boundaries of more practical space flight. ....actually, think someone got airport hangers recently that would work."[/bg] She frowned, pulling up her suit's link into her warehouse computer and taking a moment to dig around in places she probably shouldn't. [bg=#555555]"....yes. New company, all talk. Not impressed. Rented out two airport hangers, which would be enough for putting a killsat into space with the right technology and plans."[/bg]

Knowledge [Technology] Check (1d20 + 15=27) Computers - using Skill Mastery for a 'roll' of 27. Local and Streetwise aren't normally her thing, but hurrah for Eidetic Memory. Knowledge [Local] & Knowledge [streetwise] Checks (untrained, Eidetic Memory) (1d20 + 7=16, 1d20 + 7=17)

"Tch. Y'could've at least waited until we'd gotten to punch her a little," Tiamat said, though her actions didn't match her tone - no sooner had Fleur's flower eaten Star Knight than she was off at a run toward the nearest stairs, making her way to the upper floor as fast as her legs would carry her. That hole looked like it went all the way up through the roof, and goodness knows who'd gotten hurt on the way down - or who'd gotten hurt before they'd arrived to put a stop to things. And hey, maybe she'd luck out and there'd be another like Star Knight up there somewhere, causing trouble. That'd be fun, and good to stop as early as possible.
-
For lack of things to punch in the face, Tiamat heads upstairs to see if there's anyone up there in need of help.

[bg=#555555]"Multiple thefts from high-profile technology companies."[/bg] Dragonfly had made the trip in what had to be record time, her wings flickering out of existence as she set foot on the building to give her suit a little time to cool off. [bg=#555555]"Individually not a concern, but together could be used to create large, dangerous energy weapons. Have to assume they know what they're doing - thefts weren't easy, and too specific."[/bg] She tilted her head at Fenris, but didn't comment; she hadn't been expecting him to be here, but then, she probably should have. [bg=#555555]"Would rather not waste time. May take them time to analyze and construct, but with good facilities, not too long."[/bg]

Wraith saw the incoming net barely in time to yank her claw back inside the room before it hit the window. On the one hand, it was a net, and thus not much of a barrier; on the other, it was clearly electrified, and she didn't know how much power was running through it. She could try to slip through, but it'd hurt, and if there was someone lying in wait out there.... If she'd had a lip to bite, she would have bit it as she cast her gaze around the room and finally back at Kristin, Kimber, and Sharl. "Go," she said, backing away from the window and flowing out into something a little thinner and more agile. "Do not wait for me. If I do not show up in good time, leave without me; I will catch up or you can find me in the forest." Rather than give anyone time to argue she took off toward the nearest air vent, liquid metal body disappearing into the darkness behind the grate.

Reflex Save vs. Snare, DC22 Survival Check, DC20 (1d20 + 8=9, 1d20 + 10=25) Not so great against the snare (though so long as it isn't watertight, that's a lesser concern). Pretty good on the Survival check.

Knowledge (Technology) Check, DC25 (1d20 + 15=30) Thank goodness for Fearless.

Against my better judgement, Wraith's going to try for an escape via ventilation system; she doesn't know that there are a lot of traps around, and there's clearly someone outside trying to stop them! Anything I should know before posting, about (1) the presence of vents or (2) the badness within them?

Dragonfly's suit shouted a dozen alerts into her head as soon as the blue light hit her, which would have been a much better warning if it had been more than a half-second before her body felt like it was full of needles and fire. She powered through, though - she had far more pressing concerns than her own personal health. Hauling herself back upright (when had she nearly fallen over...?) her wings flared back into being and drove her forward, circling her around behind Jill; the familiar click of the armored heroine's gauntlet was the only warning available before she thrust a fist-full of lightning against her back.

Dragonfly circles around to Ellie's side a bit, so that she's a little more surrounded (and hopefully a little less likely to catch everyone in the doom bubbles again!). Melee Attack Roll vs. Jill O'Cure (taser hand) (1d20 + 11=20) Oogh, BARELY enough if she's flat-footed and boosted to high PL. DC21 Fort save vs. Stun.

Guessing we're gonna need this: Initiative Rolls, GK and Tiamat (1d20 + 0=8, 1d20 + 1=15)

"Yes. I...mmh." The thought that her call with Jessica had some potential to be overheard finally filtered down through Mara's anger, and she tried to remind herself that hunting down whoever did this would be easier in a group. had better be anyway - can always leave them later "Have to...deal with things here. Know someone who owes me. Expect her soon." She didn't wait for a reply before hanging up, sparing only a few seconds for cancelling everything else she was supposed to have gotten done today on her way to the roof. She could deal with frustrated customers and paperwork later - the longer they let these people hold onto their stolen data and technology, the worse this would get.

Fortitude Save vs. Bubbles o'Death, DC29 (Inspired +5) (1d20 + 7 + 5=31) For extra irony, her Fort save would be lower if she didn't know Erik and Ellie.

"How about we start with pulling punches when fighting people who aren't scum, and discuss things from there?" Gaian Knight offered, holding up his hands in a placating gesture and trying very hard not to look at the dead guard. "The criminals in this city aren't going anywhere - I'd like to think we have some time to talk about this." Tiamat said nothing, though - as ever - she was clearly ready for a fight. Her gaze wasn't on the dead human, but on the room, trying to size up how much it would hamper her maneuverability if she dropped her weaker human form. She liked to think she was pretty tough, but wasn't keen on the idea of throwing down with a member of the League with one hand tied behind her back....

"That's...ah, jeeze. That's not good. Here's to hoping it's just Star Knight and not the whole Order." Tarrant was on his feet almost as fast, snagging his sword from where it had been leaning against his chair and strapping it on as he grabbed the shoes and set about convincing Amaryllis to wear them. He was just glad he'd been doing some digging earlier - the extra trip to his castle might have been extra time they didn't have, from the sound of it. And speaking of extra time.... "We shouldn't have to - she tends to stick pretty close, hoping for...well. This kind of thing, really. Hey, Teagan!" That last bit was shouted out the window, accompanied by a loud - if not piercing, for Amaryllis' sake - whistle. "Showtime!" Sure enough, the beat of leathery wings was audible almost immediately; a shadow briefly darkened the light coming through the windows before a distinctive rush of fire was heard as Sanctuary's one and only dragon took a form more suited for under-sized human doorways....
-
"....I do not believe he smells right," Wraith observed, worry in her voice, dropping human form entirely and becoming something like an oversized canine with a flat, three-eyed face. "He smells like burnt...human meat, but it is too...thin, too....you do not have the words! English is not a very good language for describing things that humans cannot sense. It is like meat wrapped around...I do not know." She was apparently set on finding out, though with no small hesitation - a long blade grew out of her shoulder, snaking down on a tendril to cut with extreme care - if not great practice - into Summers as she muttered something in an alien language. "I do not know that much about human anatomy," she admitted, trying to sound a lot more sure about what she was doing than she felt, "but I do not believe your insides are supposed to look like thi--" She cut off, halfway through what she was doing and with blade and claw resting on - and in - their ex-headmaster, and snapped her head toward the door. "Someone is coming."

Between Mali and Kimber, Wraith has pretty sufficient motivation to give Summers a better once-over. Nothing so thorough as a proper search for clues, just trying to figure out what she could have missed in all of this madness. She'll be leveraging her whole super-sense suite, as appropriate (since it never really turns off!): Super-Senses 6 (Acute Olfactory, Darkvision, Infravision, Ultrasonic Hearing, Ultravision) [6pp] Notice Check (1d20 + 15=35) .....well! That...that'll do, I guess!

[bg=#555555]"....it's...no. No."[/bg] Something in Jill's response finally shook Dragonfly out of her confusion and hesitation, and she straightened out - even her suit seemed to pick itself up, armored plates adjusting and lit portions brightening as if it was as determined as she was. [bg=#555555]"I...you aren't her. Or someone's done something to you. Either way, have to stop you, for your sake."[/bg] The armored heroine disappeared, space wrapping in around her as it blossomed outward less than a foot away from Jill. [bg=#555555]"....and because you'd stop me."[/bg] Before she was even completely back into normal space, one armored gauntlet shot out, wreathed in twisting energy and the hopes of ending the fight quickly.

"Eh, I've had worse," Tarrant chuckled, pulling his goggles down around his neck and dutifully chewing on the leaf bundle. "Besides, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who took a couple blows, there - what's a couple new scars for a good cause?" He sighed, wincing a little as he settled back against his chair and eyed the coffins. They might have looked like solid rock on the outside, but he could feel the void inside where the stone stopped, a void containing....well, he had no real idea. "Penny might be the cure, but I dunno if I'm comfortable expecting her to neutralize anything without knowing what that means. Not that I think the captain would do anything that could hurt her, but...I dunno. And that's kind of the problem, I guess - we just don't really know what any of that means."

Melee Attack Roll vs. Jill O'Cure (dimensional pocket) (1d20 + 11 + 5=31) The saddest roll. DC20 Reflex for Jill, assuming she has less than +22 defense at the moment. Not that it's likely to hold her for long, but Dragonfly's not going to come out swinging and really just needs to buy time here to sort things out.
