"Ah," Indira answered, though she paused for a moment as Corbin ranted; it clearly wasn't a discussion she wanted to get involved in, though, as once he was done she rather deliberately avoided commenting on it. "I have not yet read...many of the debriefings. It seemed a bit too much like studying, and I think I get enough of that from school," the alien admitted, sounding amused and a little rueful. "Perhaps the icon makes more sense in the dimension it is supposed to be a part of, if there is such a place. It is a shame we cannot see what the others are seeing, however - I think I would like to see the origami dragon, or the gravestone."

Indira found herself sandwiched between two experienced and admirable fighters for the ride down the beach, something she was finding increasingly distracting as the group pursued the other-dimensional kidnappers. Not that she could have done a great deal even with her full attention on other things - for the time being, she was stuck where she was. She wasn't sure what to think about that. "We do not seem to have many options that are not moving forward," she pointed out, leaning her head out a bit to look at the island. "Expected or not, we must still give chase, or we have come for nothing."

"Hear what?" Indira curiously inquired, frowning at the...thing. "I do not think it can make noise - and if it was ever placed to mark graves, it was terribly misused. Though...I confess I am not sure exactly what the correct use would be?" She furrowed her brow, resisting the urge to just extend her neck to get a better all-around look at the thing. "The construction is...odd. It is not offensive, like parody, but rather...very confusing? Marble and coral are for icons of passive deities, but the shape is not right. It is kind of like someone went to a...you would say 'church', I think...went to a church and saw the icons, and decided to make their own without knowing why certain things are certain ways. I do not know why it would be here, or part of a...you said a 'Universal Clock'?"

"I am fine," Indira reassured her friend, smiling. "It was a sudden bit of...do you say, 'homeache'? ....no, 'homesickness'. I do like it here, but sometimes I miss where I am from." She hummed to herself, glancing back at the photos. "I did not know True North had gone there, either," she said, keeping her voice low. "Visitors in general were somewhat...rare. It is a very amusing coincidence, however - history seems to predict itself, sometimes." The alien paused, silently mouthing that last bit over again. "...you know, I do not think that sentiment translates very well. I think you understand what I meant?"

[bg=#555555]"'Hallomen',"[/bg] Dragonfly replied, almost unconsciously correcting Daedalus's pronunciation. Not that she was fond of the name, but if she was going to try to take it back anyway.... [bg=#555555]"It's on the outside of the building. Imagine she'd be okay with that - consulting is her business model - when it was necessary enough; suppose you could work out something. But might be worth keeping in mind that she really, really doesn't appreciate people prying into her personal life or private projects."[/bg] She was too tired to manage much more than a weary, flat tone, though at least a little bit of her wry sense of humor peered through as she turned to head back upstairs. [bg=#555555]"Or so I hear."[/bg]

Indira felt a twinge of homesickness deep in her...well, not her heart, but where her heart would probably be if she was half as human as she currently looked. Safely facing away from anyone who might have been watching, her eyes went completely black as she gently touched the glass protecting the pictures - her attention not on Rick Lucas (though, now that she thought about it, the name had seemed vaguely familiar somehow) but on the scenery and the people. Her people. She took a deep breath (for all that she didn't breathe), set her shoulders, and made her eyes go back to normal before turning around to look at the rest of the exhibits.

"Wouldn't take that long," Mara noted, giving the idea a half-second of actual thought. Not that there were actual ruts to make bridges for, but the intelligent track system was at least interesting, and worth filing away for later thought. She was occasionally tempted to try to build Gina some sort of...she wasn't even sure, some kind of super-chair?...but the prospect of bringing it up with the woman was more than a little intimidating, and even after spending time around Ellie's family she couldn't be sure how it would be received. need more data "Could have drones in here to build it, feed them instructions. Could almost maybe promise they wouldn't disassemble your refrigerator for parts, too."

:science: Kinigosi 'eat' ambient radiation - they're low-strength, high-efficiency energy sponges and batteries. They like sunny spots! If you want to find Wraith on a sunny day, look for a high or secluded spot with good sunshine. :science:

Sunny days always gave Indira a strong urge to find someplace high and secluded to just bask, but the opportunity to go out and see a collection of trophies and keepsakes wasn't a bad option, either. At least, not when the collection was like this one. She kept pace with the group, perusing the brochure and alternating between trying to imagine what kind of stories must be behind some of these items, and trying to not run into anybody, hum from somewhere that humans couldn't hum from, or do that eyes-turning-black thing she was told she did between blinks sometimes. "I hope they do not take the stories behind these items and...you have a phrase for it, I think it is 'water them down'?" She blinked at her friends, looking curious and slightly pleased that she'd remembered that one. "I do not want clean, 'safe' versions of the stories if they are less interesting, and they usually are."

Dragonfly's last act as she and Ellie made their way back home was to reach into the open wound in her dimensional device and break something with an audible crack!; as reality closed back up around them to leave them on significantly safer earth, the last visible bits of the world left behind showed a pylon that was...well, eating itself, twisting and churning and crumbling into scraps that could never hope to be put back together. always have to lock the door behind you when you leave She took the opportunity to take a breath of proper, Earth Prime air, waiting for the more primitive parts that remaind even in her engineered brain to realize that she was above ground now and there weren't any more big things in the air trying to kill her. [bg=#555555]"Okay. Thank you for your help on this end - we're sorry for the...inconvenience,"[/bg] she said, as assertively as she could manage when she was tired and in the middle of a crowd of people - and with suspiciously good grammar, though those that knew her (and knew who she was) could almost certainly tell it was forced. [bg=#555555]"This is everyone - they could probably use food, and water, and some rest, if you haven't arranged it already. Hopefully they won't have to stay here long."[/bg]
-
[bg=#555555]"Wouldn't say that, myself,"[/bg] Dragonfly groused, one of her little gauntlet-deployed tool arms pulling a tiny piece of shrapnel out of the depths of her project. think that's all of it [bg=#555555]"But don't have the same connection you do. Not as personal. Still, good to know there's...unrest. In the Terminus, I mean, and more than normal. Them fighting each other is better than them fighting us."[/bg] The engineer finally pulled her tools away, leaving the bits of shrapnel and broken parts (and the remains of a few items she'd salvaged new parts from) at her feet. She took a deep breath, mentally double-checked her repairs, and gently gave one of the spinning parts of her pylon a shove to get it moving - it flickered to life, the hole that was still in the metal plating exposing the moving, glowing machinery inside. [bg=#555555]"Okay. Would really like to leave, now. Before they get tired of waiting for us to cook."[/bg]

Wraith waited for the box to be nearly complete before sliding away from the bomb, little bits of leftover electricity arcing across her surface as she reeled in her bladed tendril and escaped through the hole in her teammate's creation. She took to two feet again, flexing her mass in a way that was very reminiscent of someone flexing after spending time in a cramped space. "I will help Sage however I can, but I am not sure how one removes one's self from the simulation. Is it as simple as thinking-" And then she was out, blinking from inside the suit in the real world. "Ah," she said, largely to herself, as she oozed out of the suit and carefully made her way to Sage. She didn't so much pick the telepath up as let her arms flow down between the young woman and her chair, lifting her as gently as possible. "Umm...I believe it was...yes. It is a good thing that you made the trip taking Ms. Harcourt to get help," she mused as she set off - flowed off, really, to avoid jostling her friend. "I can probably follow your scent the whole way. Is that karma, do you think?"

[bg=#555555]"Enjoyed listening to that,"[/bg] Dragonfly commented, though she didn't turn around, she had carefully dislodged the shrapnel from her device and was peering into the metal wound to inspect the damage. [bg=#555555]"Might as least buy us time. ....maybe?"[/bg] That last bit was thrown on as her suit pinged her with some environmental data. She frowned, though she kept at her work, pushing a bundle of wires out of the way with a little gauntlet-deployed tool. [bg=#555555]"....any of you feeling that? Suit's a closed environment, but says it's getting warmer. Going need a minute or...mmmh, maybe two...to fix things. Need to --aagh, of course it hit that relay, not like I have a bunch of magnets just sitting around can probably bypass if I'm careful...."[/bg] She trailed off, comments becoming more like muttered dialogue as she started putting her dimensional tunneler back into working shape.
-
[bg=#555555]"Jill!"[/bg] Tired or not, Dragonfly was at her girlfriend's side in a flash, putting her hand on the medic's good arm to help her up. Her suit's warning systems had gone off just in time, the shield she'd thrown up at her fingertips shunting the blast and shrapnel away from her body and leaving a clear spot outlined by a much darker scorch on the ground where she'd stood. she can heal - try not to worry too much - doting too much? - hate this place [bg=#555555]"Think we've all had enough of this place. Can get us out of--"[/bg] She trailed off, her gaze falling on her impaled invention; once she knew Jill would be okay she reluctantly left her side to inspect the damage. [bg=#555555]"....okay. Might need a new plan. Or some time. Need to figure out how bad the damage is."[/bg]

Mara had picked out a corner of the living room where she could be near the bedroom, just in case they needed to be gone in a hurry, but without an easy view of the bedroom, for the sake of her own stress level. She was here for Ellie, and the rest of the Espadas family, and to help in what ever way help was needed...but she'd never been so big on the medical problems or people in discomfort, so she was trying to focus as much as possible on the smallish, turtle-like device in her lap. Not that she wasn't absolutely sure it would work; she'd started building it quite a while ago, and it was extensively tested and finely-tuned, even for her. But she couldn't help but tweak it; it had to be perfect, and it was something to do with her hands so that she didn't join Erik in wearing a hole through the floor. "Could always build you a bridge," she offered to Gina, though she didn't look up from her careful, hundredth examination of her gadget. "Intelligent one. Put it on a track in the rut. Have it travel along as you need it."

Reflex Save vs. Area Attack, DC15 (1d20 + 7=19) Dragonfly has Uncanny Dodge, and has Evasion 2 with her shield readied (and she certainly has her shield readied, what with the fleeing across a hostile landscape thing); she takes no effect. Per chat, writing it down for the record (so that my 11pm brain doesn't forget it for later): Dragonfly is currently at 1HP, plus any gained from complications.

Indira had no idea what was going on. During most of the exchange between Max Muscles and the dark-skinned woman she'd stood toward the back of the group with a blank expression on her face, trying to keep up with just what in the world was happening. Something about...parenthood...and...was her name really 'Hardrina'? When one of the guests (Mark?) got taken, though, it was no longer a time for bemusement. She was more than ready when Trevor got onto his bike, moving with a fluid grace humans didn't generally have to take a seat behind him before she got left behind. "Is this - is it normal for you?" she asked the driver of the apparently very unusual motorcycle. "I do not mean to pry, but if this is what I shall have to look forward to over the next several years...."

Dragonfly was panting by the time space unwrapped around her, depositing the armored heroine back in the Vault and to...well. 'Safety' was rapidly becoming a very relative term. Her first order of business was carefully pulling Wander and Harrier back out of storage, and then dropping the others out with significantly less finesse. [bg=#555555]"Something very very large out there,[/bg] she offered, once she'd had a chance to catch her breath a bit. She'd had to turn some of her suit alerts off halfway there when it had started complaining about capacitors blowing out. [bg=#555555]"And headed this way. Big...grey...dragon-thing? Smaller ones outside, but guessing you knew about them already. These...people....[/bg] 'People' was clearly not the word she'd wanted to use. [bg=#555555]"....are horrible people. Taking them with us, and then throwing them into prison to rot forever. Or longer. Prefer longer."[/bg]
-
[bg=#555555]"I hate this place. So much."[/bg] Dragonfly didn't pause, though - no hesitation; the rather dramatic entrance of...whatever that was...temporarily broke her out of her funk and her hands were immediately on the technicians, folding them away in ones and twos until they'd all disappeared into wherever things went when she sent them Not Here. [bg=#555555]"You too,"[/bg] she insisted, solemnly putting a hand on the wrists of Harrier and Wander. [bg=#555555]"Can get out of here the same way I came - can jump around the terrain as I head back, make us hard to follow. But can't take you with me as-is. ....advice: don't fight it too hard, pocket's fragile sometimes. Don't worry - you'll come back to normal space if my suit takes too much damage, anyway."[/bg] And with that dubious reassurance she sent little lines like creases in paper flowing across their bodies, reality folding up around them until they were left in what was apparently an endless white void populated only by the cowering technicians. Alone, Dragonfly disappeared, teleporting closer and closer to her girlfriend and relative safety...one mile at a time.

"It is fine as far as I know," Wraith confirmed, keeping her blade trained on their metal enemy, surrendered or not. "I have not felt anything, anyway. There is a limit to how many eyes I can make, however - I do not have any inside your box, because they are all on the outside, and I did not want to put any of myself too close to the orb while I am magnetized. Um, speaking of which...." Said eyes rotated along the outside of her body, shifting across her surface until she could get a good look at Cobalt Templar. "Do we know how to make it...less dangerous, perhaps? I cannot hold magnetism forever, and this tendril is very, very tiring."
