Mara does not appreciate solicitors, and uses however many uses of her invention as are required to more or less erase everything within reach of her device.

Dragonfly was screwing a couple final plates into place as the 'phone' rang; her creation was rather simple and unadorned, layers and layers of tubes and plates that seemed designed to spin and rotate, the only constant the simple metal handle she held it by. [bg=#555555]"No,"[/bg] the heroine corrected, flatly. [bg=#555555]"Was calling us."[/bg] She pushed the little black button on her device's handle, and it lit up. The effect was rather like being in the middle of a sandstorm, if the sandstorm was made out of broken pieces of reality. The world just tore apart, fragments of everything in the area shattering away and sweeping into a single, chaotic storm that eroded everything in its path, walls and pools and machines alike eroding away into dust - less than dust - like the wind of a thousand years had been condensed into one horrible series of seconds; only the places occupied by humans, technicians, and bodies were left untouched, shards of space collecting back into their normal, harmless arrangements before fracturing again on the other side of their individual 'bubbles' of safety. By the time she let go of the button the area was a flat, pitted wasteland. Dragonfly's expression was unreadable behind her helmet as she looked around at the almost perfect half-sphere of scoured terrain, and then over at her fellow heroes. [bg=#555555]"....I would like to leave, now."[/bg]
-
[bg=#555555]"Making omegadrones,"[/bg] Dragonfly spat, contempt practically dripping off her voice as she started gracelessly salvaging parts and metals off the Terminus machinery. [bg=#555555]"Very relative scale. Don't justify what you did here."[/bg] Normally there was a kind of muttering, distracted energy to the young engineer when she built - the barest hints of a manic love of building, a pleasure at solving a puzzle even under pressure. But not this time; whatever she was putting together, it was with a cold, quiet professionalism - practiced but detached and devoid of any sort of enjoyment.

It's an invent-y kind of thread, I guess. HP to jury-rig: Device 7 (35pp device; Flaws: Easy-To-Lose, Unreliable [5 uses]) [14pp] bad science Drain Toughness 10 (Extras: Affects Objects, Area [General Burst], Linked [Damage], Selective Attack, Flaws: Action [Full], Distracting, Feats: Progression 2 [Area; 150' radius], Slow Fade [5 rounds]) [23pp] Damage 10 (Extras: Area [General Burst], Linked [Drain Toughness], Selective Attack, Flaws: Action [Full], Distracting, Feats: Progression 2 [Area; 200' radius]) [12pp] No design check; craft check of 15 (base) + 14 (pp cost) = 29. Craft Check (jury-rig), DC29 (1d20 + 20=32) Whee! Crafting time: 14 rounds (approx. 1:30).

Not a LOL, but very awesome. The song and art both. (You can listen to just the song here - the description has a download link if you want to download it, put it on your iPod, and play it on repeat for several days on end ifyoureallywanttodothatkindofthing whatareyouaccusingmeof)

Mara snorted, albeit in good humor, as she pulled a bottle out of one of her cupboards. "Drinking age. We're responsible. Plus, not technically illegal to drink!" She took on the best professor tone she could manage as she poured them each a small glass and taking a seat. "Illegal in this state to purchase. Can drink on private property, which this is. So there." The young woman hesitated before brushing some hair back behind her ear and tentatively raising her glass. "It's...thank you," she said, rather seriously. "Even with villains, best birthday ever. To us?"

Dragonfly just kind of stood there for a moment, turning her head to take in the scene; she finally raised a hand and grimaced. [bg=#555555]"What is--...no. You know what - nevermind. Have decided I don't care and don't want to know."[/bg] The nanites were more interesting, anyway. Little lights danced behind her eyes as she idly poked at them with her mind, and she clearly didn't much like what she found. [bg=#555555]"Terminus doesn't really do 'subtle', do they. ......mmmh. Tempted to weaponize them, but too easily exploited. Should probably just destroy them, or make them destroy each other. ....mmmh, distributed systems always annoying to reprogram. Don't want 'grey goo scenario'. What have you found out about them so far? The nanites, I mean."[/bg] That last bit was directed at Wander, as addressing her meant not having to look at nearly-naked people. [bg=#555555]"Would like to eliminate as many surprises as possible."[/bg]

Wraith-the-Box narrowed her eyes, stinger-like tendril waving through the air as she watched the creature move. The slow motion was disconcerting, and certainly didn't make finding an opportune moment any easier, but it was certainly doing a good job of keeping the thing away from the civilians. If only it-- She struck, the scythe-like blade whipping down out of the air with surprising speed for how slow the world was moving. It struck its target square in the back - not as solid a hit as the alien heroine would have liked, but solid enough. Hopefully.

Mara extra-effort stunts the following off her Auxiliary Power Array: Teleport 4 (1 mile; Extras: Accurate, Flaws: Long-Range) [8pp] Presumably she spends the next minute or so (20 miles, 20 move actions at 1 mile each, ~10 rounds) blipping across the landscape to Wander and Harrier.
-
Dragonfly made a vaguely strangled-sounding noise as her suit communications - barely - picked up Harrier's transmission through the surrounding communications equipment, and she briefly muttered something under her breath about needing to perfect her ability to be in two places at once as she made her way over to Jill between dimensional transfers. [bg=#555555]"Need to help Wander and Harrier,"[/bg] she quietly informed her girlfriend, tone quiet and not terribly pleased. [bg=#555555]"Looks like everything's okay here, for now. They need something destroyed, carefully, or something. You'll have to work the tunneler - just remember, hold onto the lever to stay here. Light next to it will turn blue when it's ready to go again."[/bg] In a hurry or not, she took a moment to pull the lower plates of her helmet back so she could give Jill a quick kiss. "Good luck," she said, smiling a little even as her suit lit up and the world wrapped in around her. "Love you."

Wraith does a no-frills melee attack. Though her 'melee' range is pretty dang good right about now. Melee Attack Roll vs. KnifeMan (whip-blade) (1d20 + 10=14) I have...no idea if that hits! DC25 Tou save if it does, though. EDIT: Forgot; Wraith spends an HP to waive the fatigue from the previous round, and extra-efforts again this round to maintain her boosted power.

Indira smiled, giving a single deep nod; she'd gotten back to where the rest were gathering up in time to catch the gist of things. "I can swim, yes, though perhaps not as well as some." She certainly hoped she wouldn't have to test that; it was true that she could swim just fine, but probably not in her more inefficient human guise. "I do not get seasick, either," she added, reflecting with small amusement on her lack of a stomach, "so that too should not be a problem."

Mara managed to get the sauce heated and the bread warmed with a minimum of mutual distraction, as difficult as such a thing was to not do; not no distractions, mind, but she made at least a moderate effort to keep impulses under control for the sake of a good meal (and fewer burns). Before too long they each had a modest plate of food, and Mara 'mmh'ed as they made their way to a miraculously clutter-free dining table. "Not as much variety in drinks, I think. Water, milk, some wine. Should probably keep juice around, but always goes bad before I finish it."

[bg=#555555]"Right,"[/bg] Dragonfly nodded, carefully eyeing the roof over their heads and wishing she'd installed some sort of sensory array that could penetrate solid earth. something to think about [bg=#555555]"Better get started, then. And hope it doesn't draw attention."[/bg] She took a deep breath, little lights dancing behind her eyes - barely visible behind the blue lenses in her helmet - and their creation started to spin up. [bg=#555555]"Remember,"[/bg] she reminded the group as the pylon filled with flickering light, [bg=#555555]"clear the area as soon as you arrive to make room for everyone else. Need to send groups as fast as we can."[/bg] And then space inside the painted circle turned inside-out and shattered, not too dissimilar from the heroes' own arrival - the whole cylindrical area seemed to break apart and mix with broken-up pieces of what was visibly a large room back at the HAX building. When space righted itself and the machine spun back down, there wasn't a person to be seen. [bg=#555555]"Next group,"[/bg] she instructed, mentally ticking down the seconds it would take for the pylon to be ready again without risking overheating or blowing parts they couldn't easily replace. [bg=#555555]"Quickly, please - don't forget to stay inside the circle."[/bg]
-
The young alien blinked, her eyes briefly becoming blank black voids; only a beat later she blinked again, though, and her eyes returned to their normal (and human) warm brown. "I am...pleased that I do not disappoint," she replied, carefully. Indra was startled, but true to her nature responded with less fright and more with a quick, smooth turn in mid-stride to turn and face the source of the noise. It was only out of practice and hard-earned reflexes that at least one of her arms didn't immediately turn into something bladed. "....some people seem to be making very impressive entrances."

[bg=#555555]"Cab, yes. But the driver's kind of crazy,"[/bg] Dragonfly tiredly replied, gently putting the pylon back down so that it could have power cables run back into it. [bg=#555555]"Erin and Harrier are investigating a doomforge. Apparently. They'll be back."[/bg] they'd better [bg=#555555]"In the meantime...."[/bg] Dragonfly relieved Tress of the paint can, using her suit's computer to paint an untidy circle about ten feet out from the pylon itself, still being hooked back up. [bg=#555555]"We need to start getting people out of here. As many as can fit inside the circle at a time, and they need to move out of the way as soon as they arrive. Mmh - needs to be operated by you, or me, or Erin or Harrier. Needs either the math provided to it, or somebody who's been in our dimension long enough to act as....anchor. Easy, though - pull the big lever on the side. Let go to arrive there yourself, hold on to stay here. Tried to keep it simple."[/bg]

Wraith's three black eyes were all that distinguished her from a normal metal box, almost looking painted on the surface that was facing Papercut and the big, pointy...thing. Person. She narrowed her eyes as it advanced on her teammate, and if she'd had any at the moment she would have set her shoulders in determination. Her mass shifted, her magnetic field staying strong even as her paper-coating body thinned and sprouted a single long, thin tendril with a wicked curved blade at the end. 'Long' being the operative word: it stretched and grew until it was over twenty feet long, coiling and snaking through the air over her rather fixed position like a great boneless stinger, carefully poised to strike as its owner waited for an opening.

I constantly forget that you can use Extra Effort to boost a power by two ranks for a round. Two ranks is a lot of shapeshift! Wraith does just that, getting another 10pp in her shapeshift power, which she immediately uses: Elongation 3 (25ft) [3pp] Strike 5 (Feats: Improved Critical [19-20], Mighty) [7pp] [3 + 7 = 10/10pp] 10pp seems like so much until you have to use it! That's a move action to shift, and another to elongate; she can't attack this round (without risking exhaustion, or burning through her 3hp too quickly), but the room just got a lot more dangerous for spiky scissor dudes.

Mara made an amused snorting sound, bumping her hip against Ellie's and pulling a wooden spoon out of a drawer. "Making me tempted to skip dinner, is what," she answered with mock admonishment. "Thought you people were always trying to get me to eat more. Spaghetti - easy, fast. Boiling water, salt, olive oil. Simmer. Break it in half so it fits in the pot - really should make a bigger one. I'll heat sauce, you make sure spaghetti gets done and doesn't stick to pot. Think I have bread around here somewhere. Then we enjoy deliciousness."

[bg=#555555]"That is sort of the point,"[/bg] Dragonfly dryly - and tiredly - joked, though there wasn't any malice in her voice. Behind the metal faceplate she was giving Tress a careful look; she knew that tone of voice, that kind of weary resignation - she'd used it more than once after escaping but before getting back on her feet. It wasn't the sort of thing she wanted to hear from anybody else. [bg=#555555]"You're very good,"[/bg] she noted, dumping suit power into physical strength so she could heft their newly-crafted device now that the power cables were - temporarily - disconnected. Some part of her multi-threaded mind drifted toward the communication system build into her suit; she silently noted Erin's message, and frowned, but had to admit the logic in their surface excursion. [bg=#555555]"Grab the paint? Going to need it to draw a perimeter - thanks. Want a job?"[/bg] The offer was a bit out of nowhere, but she seemed perfectly serious about it. [bg=#555555]"Run a tech company - improving other peoples' projects, mostly. Consulting. Could use someone like you - smart, good under pressure. Going to have to help us here, first, though - not done yet. Think of it as a really bad interview."[/bg]

Sense Motive check vs. ????? (1d20 + 10=15) EDIT:
-
Dragonfly snorted a little, the little tools on her gauntlets carefully re-wiring a piece she'd salvaged from a machine that...well, she wasn't sure what it was supposed to have done; she hadn't looked that closely. Whatever it was, it wouldn't be doing it anymore. [bg=#555555]"Not really,"[/bg] she answered, shrugging. [bg=#555555]"Not a big student of history, but...traditionally a patriarchy. Still mostly men in high positions of power. But we're theoretically equal, and women are catching up...I think. ....not really big on current events, either."[/bg] The piece of re-worked technology disappeared into her dimensional pocket and she set to cutting a few large metal plates free from the now-disabled whatever-it-was, placing them on top of the coiled power cabling she'd found. [bg=#555555]"Steve's just...think he's too used to taking orders. Listens to me and Erin because she's his boss and I'm her boss. When I'm not in armor. Jill, doctor girl, isn't - his boss, I mean - but she's...charismatic. And used to dealing with stubborn, hot-headed people."[/bg]
-
"Mmh. Not that climate controlled," Mara admitted. "Some, I mean, but still stuck in a metal shell and a bodysuit. Kind of evens out - could probably use a shower too." The young woman furrowed her brow a little, setting down the jar of sauce and doing some math. glad I upgraded the water heater a little - volume versus use versus.... "Should be enough hot water and pressure for a shower. Maybe just the one, though." She grinned a bit, though her voice was full of mock regret for the 'inconvenience' as she added, "Guess we'll just have to make do and share."

Short on time and low on options, we'll be Jury-Rigging. Device 1 (Feats: Feature [self-destruct trigger], Restricted 1 [Earth Prime residents], Flaws: Easy-To-Lose) [5pp] (dimensional tunnel device) A large, pylon-like device capable of transporting a group of nearby people to Earth Prime. Super-Movement 1 (Dimensional Movement 1, here to Earth Prime only; Extras: Affects Others, Area [Cylinder], Feats: Area Progression 1 [10']) [5pp] So, once or twice per round the device can transport as many people as can be packed into a 10' radius circle, more or less. It can only be triggered by our quad of intrepid heroes, though Mara intends to run it with Datalink as much as possible. No design check; craft check is DC15 (base) + 5 (pp cost) = DC20, which she's incapable of failing, no matter whether it's a Mechanical or Electronics check. Shaen's wisdom lives in us all. Crafting time: five rounds, plus or minus plot speed.

"Enjoy cooking. Sometimes, anyway," Mara defended, digging some noodles out of one of her cupboards. "....don't spread it around. Have a reputation to keep. Don't want people thinking I've gone all...." She paused, gesturing vaguely with the soon-to-be-delicious foodstuffs. "....'domestic'." "And wouldn't allude anything of the sort," she defended, though the corners of her mouth weren't exactly serious either as she brought out some sauce, too - not home-made, but certainly faster, and if she still had some of those spices left.... "But. You know. If we did stockpile carbohydrates, would probably have to find a way to work them off. Can't afford to gain much weight - wouldn't fit in my own armor."
