Ranged Attack Roll vs. Nearest Enemy (blast; Power Attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 10 - 2=10) :| Ranged Attack REROLL vs. Nearest Enemy (blast; Power Attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 10 - 2=16) Better! +10 is 26, which should do nicely. DC28 toughness, I believe. She's just attacking the closest one she sees, as she doesn't have much immediate knowledge of who's more dangerous than whom; dealer's choice!

Mara nodded, carefully getting to her feet - she didn't trust her armor to be light enough to stay as silent on the snow as Ellie (and she did have to admire the way Ellie moved); she trusted her wings even less, considering that they weren't really designed for stealth. although - interesting project - save for later - reduce vibrations? What she DID trust was speed and surprise. She stood as still as possible while Ellie crept closer, waiting until her girlfriend was in place before getting her attention and holding up three fingers. Two fingers. One finger.... She took off, wings flaring into being and sending her coasting over the snow, gliding sideways past the ice as the very, very unlucky Overthrow goons came into view. The one unfortunate enough to be closest got the distinct displeasure of the nice big spatial distortion she'd built as she moved. [bg=#555555]"Hello!"[/bg]

And exploit she did; between Sage's well-timed misdirection and Summers' own surprising intimidation skills, Wraith knew a good opportunity when she saw it. Her first blow snuck in behind the telekinetic debris, a straight jab that buried one scythe into the thing's body. It was effective, but not decisive - and it wasn't supposed to be. As soon as it was solidly anchored she was in the air, her silver body arching above the creature as she closed the distance she'd kept...and her other scythe arching above her body. They both came down at once, the anchored blade pulling the body, which pulled the scythe, which came down with so much force it nearly split the thing in two, shoulder-to-hip (or, rather, their equivalents). She hunched there for a moment, blades still stuck in the thing, wicked and gleaming, soaking in the almost-forgotten feeling of just being a top-tier predator. Then she composed herself and stepped off her 'kill', straightening her shoulders and letting her hands turn back into...well, hands. "Is everyone alright?" she asked, rather politely. "I do not think there are any more."

Mama said knock you out. Melee Attack Roll vs. Dark Young 1 (Power Attack -5/+5, Aid Attack (Sage) +5) (1d20 + 10 - 5 + 5=26) Hurrah! DC30 toughness. SURGE (only if it's still on its feet): SURGE: Melee Attack Roll vs. Dark Young 1 (Power Attack -5/+5) (1d20 + 10 - 5=24) HAHA! Yesssssss. That's a roll of 19; Wraith has Improved Crit up right now. I'll go for the straight +5, so that's DC35. IC pending.

Dragonfly's face (or, her helmet, at least) finally appeared on-screen as she sat back down in her chair; just visible on the edge of window was some manner of little drone - still mostly wires and circuitry - that was trying to inch toward the side of the desk. Its creator absently flicked it with one finger and it stopped. [bg=#555555]"Interesting idea. Protectron, I mean; icon is interesting, and probably overdue, but not my area. Worth seeing design ideas, though. Can be down soon. May need a minute to build a small cage."[/bg]
-
Initiative Roll (1d20 + 7=26) My goodness. I'll pass on the stealth check, as she's really not stealthy; with that init roll, though, she's clearly ready to go the moment it looks like a fight might start!

[bg=#555555]"What? Yes. No. One second."[/bg] Dragonfly had apparently actually used the intercom, for once, rather than just projecting her voice into it - that more than anything else spoke to her distraction. The fact that her voice came in like she wasn't terribly near the intercom wasn't hurting either, nor the fact that she apparently forgot it had a mute button. [bg=#555555]"Get dow--get down. Can fly up there if I have to. Don't beep at me - built you. Can un-build you. .... ....what I thought. Sit on the desk. Recharge while I...what was I...? Right, yes."[/bg] There was a pause, and then her voice was much clearer, though she'd opted to not turn video on. [bg=#555555]"Sorry. Got...side-tracked. What?"[/bg]

Wraith shifts to hunter mode (leaping 2, speed 1, wall-crawling 2, which'll certainly get her around in a densely-packed urban area!) but has significantly less travel oomph in her, but she'll keep up as best she can - double-moves will let her almost keep up with flight five, normal movement, and she can do bursts of all-out movement when she has to. Unless 'normal movement' means moving like you're taking two move actions a round, in which case she'll...be along as soon as she can!

Indira hesitated for just a moment; running straight into the waiting jaws of the enemy didn't seem like a very good idea, but letting Sharl (and anybody following him) run there alone seemed even worse. She frowned...and then her frown was gone. Along with her mouth. And most of her other identifiable features, really; her human body and clothing melted down into something smooth, sleek, and silver, with clawed feet and powerful hind legs. She paused just by the window to crane her head back and politely smile - well, from her eyes, it looked like she was smiling, anyway - back at Sieva. "Thank you for allowing us into your home," she said. "It was a nice visit, and I am sorry we could not stay." Then she was off, those powerful legs launching her out of the window, loping along buildings and leaping to the next when she ran out of wall that was headed her way.

[bg=#222222]"But that doesn't mean defense isn't important,"[/bg] Gateway added, a flickering force field wrapping around her armored body. [bg=#222222]"Offense can't - won't - stop people from trying. Defense will make it so it doesn't matter if they do."[/bg] She crossed her arms, the force field disappearing again. [bg=#222222]"And good intelligence can beat both,"[/bg] she said...only this time, she didn't say it; the voice came - a bit corrupted - from most of the radios and visible cell phones she'd been able to reach while Lady Laser had been showing off. almost didn't think that would work - like trying to run a modern game on a calculator [bg=#222222]"Know what your enemies plan, and you can counter, or defend, on your own terms."[/bg]
-
The onslaught of snowballs may have made it through her shield - no small feat, for overgrown snowmen - but by that time her defenses had taken all the bite out of the frigid projectiles and they piff'd harmlessly against her armor. Her return fire was somewhat less harmless, a distortion chewing its way through one of the few remaining ambulatory snow piles. hah [bg=#555555]"Wouldn't make plans just yet,"[/bg] she dryly noted, lifting a little higher into the air to make sure she wasn't in anyone's immediate reach, if they decided to try to reach her. [bg=#555555]"Technically not the best in the city, and still can't stop us. Bodes poorly for you."[/bg]
-
Toughness Save vs. Snowballs, DC23 (1d20 + 9=23) A just-saved for a just-hit! Appropriate. Dragonfly spends an HP to waive the fatigue from the stunt she did last round. I'm assuming here that the two remaining snowmen aren't gonna fit into the area of her attack, since they didn't the first time - alas. Dragonfly switches to her straight-up blast. Ranged Attack Roll vs. Snowman 6 (blast) (1d20 + 11=16) Blaaaah.
-
Well, she didn't lie or tell tall tales, but she is being a little evasive, I guess. Bluff Check (1d20 + 1=16)

At the word 'Overthrow', Mara's face went completely flat - well, flatter than normal, anyway. Then she made a face like somebody had punched her between the eyes, and then she turned to Ellie and mouthed 'SHADOW??' with what would have clearly been incredible incredulity, had it been vocalized. unbelievable odds - seriously - should buy lottery tickets The engineer's choker lit up, the familiar spatial ripple sweeping across her body to leave her armor in its wake. Her force field wasn't far behind, twisting into being around her profile; just because they sounded like bumbling idiots didn't mean she wasn't going to be prepared to take them seriously.

[bg=#222222]"Where I've been isn't anyone's business without good reason,"[/bg] Gateway coldly offered, for her part. It helped that it was true; she had been to Europe recently, as it so happened, but she wasn't about to go sharing that with Sandstone. [bg=#222222]"Go where my...skills...are useful and valued."[/bg] She tilted her head, something in the visor turning to focus on the (former?) villain for a moment, as if analyzing her. [bg=#222222]"Interesting phrase, though - 'picked quite a time'. Something we should be aware of?"[/bg]

At the first voice, Mara lifted her head up in confusion; at the second, she reluctantly removed her arm from her girlfriend's waist to sit up a little and stare at the outcropping like it had questioned her maternal lineage. "What." not supposed to happen "What is-- it's the arctic," she insisted, albeit quietly - she was frustrated, but not frustrated enough to want to draw the attention of whoever was arguing. Not yet, anyway. "Supposed to be empty. That's the point. ....think my brain will explode if it's another idiot with a sword."

"Hmm." Wraith circled down the ash-stained trunk, growing a mane of little tendrils that wavered like they were tasting the air. She'd been using the trees to travel, more comfortable where she could be mobile and could ambush anyone who tried to ambush the cyborgs. "It is difficult to say how impressive that is. A single unarmed Grue drone would be poor prey - a metamorph would be a greater challenge, I suppose." She turned her head up in a particularly spine-less way, still clinging upside-down to the side of the tree. "But it is useful information. Our hunters will be well-armed to do this much damage."
-
"That is both good news and bad," Indira pondered, looking around the room from where she stood and desperately fighting the urge to climb up a wall for a better vantage point. It just didn't seem like the kind of thing that would go over well, if these people were as power-paranoid as Sharl had implied. "On the one hand, it means that they have not caused any trouble large...bad?" She paused, bowing her head as she tried to figure out which word she was supposed to be using. "- any trouble bad enough to draw attention. But it will also make them significantly harder to find, and they may be preparing something that is not yet obvious."

"Mmh. Maybe." Mara frowned a little, briefly running through her mental list of things that needed to get done soon or soonish. not sure when that list got so long - not important right now "Did say it might take a while, if I did it - would have to prioritize other things. Not really willing to just throw money at it and make it happen." She shifted onto her side a little so that she could wrap her arm around Ellie's waist. "Something to think about, at least, when I do have the time. Might be worth being able to do this more often."

[bg=#222222]"'Make our bones'...sound like a thug,"[/bg] Gateway dryly observed. She sincerely, sincerely doubted she could pull off any kind of accent without being seen through, so instead Mara put her mind to sounding as humorless and businesslike as possible. Considering the heresy she'd had to commit in reshaping her armor, it wasn't hard. [bg=#222222]"No drink for me. Would rather keep my mind sharp. Would like the information, though - always ready to 'throw down' -"[/bg] - she used the word with a tone that implied she was purely humoring Lady Laser - [bg=#222222]"- but it never hurts to be prepared."[/bg]

"Mmh," Mara pondered. hadn't really given it thought - guess we could? "Specialize in 'crazy', you know. Could...probably build something if we really wanted it? Weekends or short vacations? Would probably need to find or pay for plans, but could do actual building with drones, keep location secret and costs low. Not so bad, but would take time." She frowned at their surroundings for a moment, idly trying to ponder where she might be able to hide a well-fortified cabin, before glancing over at Ellie. "Could make it happen, if you wanted," she offered, in honest seriousness. "If you thought it might be nice to have. Could probably use a couple 'hidden' labs, myself. Just in case."

Dragonfly had to note that that was one of the few practical reasons she hadn't really gone for the thruster flight design pattern, as she watched her friend's malfunction. She had every measure of faith in Ironclad's suit's ability to weather the...well, the weather, but that didn't mean she couldn't spare some satisfaction in knowing that it was going to take more than a little ice to stop her wings. And true to form, where her friend's design endured her design avoided: the frigid breath never even touched her, spraying outward where it hit the shield she called up at her fingertips like a hose directed at a rounded rock. [bg=#555555]"Snowmen. Of course it would be snowmen. Giant ones."[/bg] As soon as the breath died down Dragonfly spread her hands out in front of herself, calculating the closest-grouped bunch of possible targets and marking them on her visor. The four lucky winners got the undeserving privilege of one of the long, lance-like distortions that the armored heroine launched from her gauntlets, each arcing through the air in a way that would have been quite pretty if it wasn't so unnatural and downright hungry-looking. [bg=#555555]"Just makes for big targets."[/bg]
-
Speaking of things that are flat-footed, though... Extra Effort stunt: Blast 10 (Extras: Area [burst, Targeted], Flaws: Action [Full]) [20pp] Pew pew! Ranged Attack Roll vs. Minions (Targeted Area Burst, Power Attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 10 - 2=15) ....eesh. Hopefully being flat-footed is enough? DC27 Toughness, if that hits them; IC post pending. EDIT: Or I'm stupid, and you can take 10 attacking minions. Durr. That's an attack roll of 18, then.

"Science," Mara replied, teasingly, settling back in the snow a bit. "Actually a force field, sort of. Traps enough body heat to keep you warm, isn't high-energy enough to block contact with your surroundings. Or protect you from attack. Need much more potent energy source for that." She idly brushed some snowflakes off her forehead, frowning. "Too expensive to mass-produce, and has a bad battery life, so not too practical for wide use. But good for short trips into the cold." "Probably right about not having as much to do. Very pretty, though. Strange urge to...not sure. Build a cabin here, or something. Not even sure how to. Portable cabin? If we ever wanted to come back. Cozy, could find things to do there."
